Love these nice lil jobs. Back to the firehouse in 45 mins
Well dam how long does it take to get water ?
Bad fire hydrant!!
@@jashfire Ridicule excuse, the onboard water consistof 800 gallons, in 20 seconds a 200 gpm stream knocks down that fire in 90%!!!!!!!!
Detroit’s attack method is first engine reverse lay to the hydrant (so obvious 2 ish minute delay iwith water ,but a dedicated supply) and second engine dump tank water through monitor if there’s heavy fire. Not how any other US depts operate as far as I know but their way
Looks like a lil’ urban renewal happening.
DFD is so understaffed and underpaid with junk for equipment, hydrants that don’t work and never get fixed, no wonder they aren’t in any big hurry to get to work on the fires. Gotta feel for them
I don't think its "they aren't in any big hurry to get to work on the fire". I think they see so much fire that they are relaxed as hell unless there is a grab to be made.
@@chrisbarr1359 Totally agree! Like, what's the rush? A row of vacants with no life hazard exposures. It ain't going anywhere soon. Besides, anything done in a hurry is done wrong.
Gee we just gonna stand around with a empty hose for fun. Man what kind of shit is that ...
I think if i had been owner of next building i would be furious over how long it took them to protect structure
Bad fire hydrant
It’s a Democrat run city! Their opinion is you have insurance don’t you?
Nice Video! Looks like a control burn on the vacant business!
That was an LA Insurance business.
Good film footage. Questionable fire 🔥 fighting practice. Then, what do I know...
That deck gun tho!!!!
Detroit FD: Who needs PPE and SCBA?
Everyone Else: Because steam burns and toxins.
Oh, the crosswalk light is flashing. He can't cross yet.
Boston fire department. June 14/2024. Box struck 19:08 hrs. Time from when box was was struck to water on fire 2 1/2 minutes.
These guys took 3 minutes 50 seconds to get water onto the fire from when 1st engine arrived on scene.
Shameful
I was a volunteer back in the 70's and we would have had the engine hooked up to the hydrant and water on the fire within 2 minutes or less upon arrival. First guy off at the hydrant, 2nd pull the line, Engineer gets the pump going and then hooks up the line they laid while the 2nd guy is putting wet on the fire.
Sounds like you practiced that a lot with no hiccups
@@bradbazzy581 Every drill we practiced it until the hiccups didn't last very long.
Yea drills. Kinda figured that
No rush. It's a vacant in Detroit. Anything done in a hurry is done wrong.
Ah Nice to see the alarm bells go off in
That comment was Not finished as I accidentally sent it through.
I believe DFDs practice is to stop at the address, drop the 'bundle' and then drive to a hydrant.....
1st due must have been one of them infamous Detroit engines that has so many holes in their tank they had to fill up upon arrival.
There is a hydrant right there on the corner, CHARLIE DELTA side...WTF
They made quick work of that!
Well, considering it is Detroit, they probably had to wait for the chief to arrive so he could determine if it is an actual fire or not.
Stand up and tell em your from Detroit. 🤯🥒🐀
Im not a firefighter, but it does seem a bit long to get water. If it was a busted hydrant, is there a list of out of service hydrants so you can plan accordingly? Or too many broke for that? Could 1st in have tanked it, and let 2nd in engine lay supply lines for both engines? Just asking, not criticizing.
From a firefighter. Yes first engine in most of the USA would have hit that with the gun and tank water. But I hear so many horror stories about detroit's apparatus being broken and backwards policies that they have I wouldn't want to blame the guys on the street. Who knows the engine might not of even had water on board. (The second engine did it right)
May i ask, why did the first engine stop AT the hydrant, then drive away around the corner?
Where are they getting their water from, Lake Michigan? When I see responses like this I appreciate the NYFD even more.
Video good what take them so long to water on the fire
Nice catch
Thank You!
Testing for my firefighter 1&2 this week. You folks hiring?
Deckgun Kelly I heard operated this way. It's a vacant. And anyways it is the place to practice new method s.
If that would have been a home if it was abandoned and no one near by if would have been let to burn while keeping occupied exposures protected. Detriot FD. is a great department but they need more funding since the tax base has shrunk by nearly 1,000,000. Why go full out fighting a fire and risk Firefighter lives for abandoned buildings and homes when everything is gone. Goto Google earth and check out the homes in the subdivisions, some street there may be 2 or 3 occupied the on others nothing but burnout homes that some have been set a fire 3 or 4 times. You can't say much til you have seen it and it a rotten shame.
What took so long to get water ? Excellent use of the deck gun, that 1 1/2 was like pissing in the wind.
I think they were setting up supplying water to the deck gun and most likely waiting for a line from a hydrant to be charged.
@@trvman1 wrong. Thats the 2nd due engine their deck gun was tank water. Very common Detriot tactic... "command to 2nd engine dump your monitor"
Detroit has some very interesting and effective tactics including the Detriot Bundle and forward stretching. Read up on them.
Guys, wanna put the fire out??? Is that a hydrant on the corner? 🤦🏼♂️
Can you say for sure the hydrant is working and in service?
@@bradbazzy581 Can you say for sure the one down the street is working?
Pretty much my point. None of you know which hydrants are working. Which isnt a part of dfd responsibility to service hydrants🤷🏻♂️ But no one here cares. Just want to put their two negative sense in thinking they are awesome for making fun of them. Even worse when a firefighter does it. Brotherhood my ass.
It was like that scene in the movie Airplane: " Flight 13 now arriving at gate 2, gate 3, gate 4, " Fire in bldg 1, bldg 2, bldg 3, . I was waiting for the whole row to burn to the ground before they got water.
Better not let that hair salon go up ,or you will be accused of being racist!!!
what happened to the water it looked like it started to come through the hose.
Looks to me like the pump on the first Engine didn't work.
Bad hydrant
Did that first Engine drop those guys off and lay out to a hydrant?
Yes
Perhaps the first-due engine pump operator had difficulty getting it into pump gear. No pump, no water. Hence the second-due came in and used the deck gun.
Just speculating.
You are wrong. Google search the "detroit bundle." First due engine drops a pack of hose and lays in to the next closes hydrant leaving room for the truck company. So the first due engine was going down to the next block, charging the line and making the plug.
Cause: Mice with matches.
Pan around some!!!
Tank water would've had that out 3 minutes ago and there was a hydrant right next to it. Detroit is a great Dept but that was hopeless.
Can you say for sure the hydrant is working and in service?
@@bradbazzy581 And your response for tank water?
Commit to tank water and it runs out... still not hooked to a hydrant...... now what? Bc if that happens you can easily cook your crew.... quality dodge on the question when you see all angles
Where's the water?!?!?!
I was wondering if they ever was going to put water on fire
Bad hydrant
@@jashfiretank water
It's hilarious reading the comments. This department does it this way. So what?
They are one of the best fire departments in the world, DETROIT FIRE DEPT
I'm no expert. Self-admitted arm chair quarterback. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.
I am no fire fighter. I am just a guy who lives in Canada close to Detroit. I have to wonder if any of these guys quacking off are aware of Detroit Fire and the challenges they face. The city won't repair their equipment. Their equipment is junk and needs replacement but the city leaders simply don't seem to care. There was a report on the news about one of the fire stations not even having heat. These firefighters are the best and working with the worse equipment. I even saw videos of a truck on a call to a fire coming across a fire. They did stop and fight it. I doubt any of these chirpers could last two shifts with Detroit Fire.
The FIRST engine should've did what the second one did, use the deck gun and dump the tank. The hand line did NOTHING. If they had done that, then they'd have controlled the fire faster, and the second engine could've laid in a supply line. Leaving your crew there in the middle of the street at night makes them a good target to get run over by an inattentive driver.
jesusssssssssssss are we going to put the fire out ?
That fire has been burning it'll put out it's self
Not being a firefighter I've never been critical of any firefighters before but I've watched plof these videos and something doesn't look right here. I'll be anxious to hear what real firefighters say about it.
Lmao.... waiting for the same thing. So many keyboard warriors these days
It's Detroit bro. Overworked for low pay using worn out and broken equipment. Most of the fires are vacant buildings anyway. There's no rush.
Theres always a rush. Never know why the fire started. Someone could always be trapped
@@jdaz5462 It could spread to buildings and homes in use. It looked like the other businesses next door were open.
@@bradbazzy581 My comment wasn't being critical as I said since I'm not a firefighter. It just seemed that they were unable to get water on the fire as quickly as in other videos I've seen. I only wondered what their problem was. You don't have to be an expert at something to see something wrong.
Nice Footage and Coverage! I changed my comment which is why That previous comment was stopped🙄 But I'll say this, the DFD isn't hopeless but the other comments are! If you're Not a Firefighter then shut your Damn mouth on how to put out fires and if you are a firefighter then Have Enough Balls to say you are when You Offer criticism to Another City on how their FD operates on the Fireground! 😤😡(And No I'm Not a firefighter, but at least I admit it!)
I am a FF (going on 30 years), and that was too long to get water on the fire... my guess is they finished taking the hydrant before deck gunning it. This type of construction will support the delay without extending into either attached business. Doesn't look great on UA-cam.
@@hawkeye5035 Okay Then I've got No problem with that.If you would've mentioned that to begin with I wouldn't have made a comment. You can't separate the trolls from the experts unless you acknowledge that you're in that profession! In my opinion I think you would be better served Emailing the DFD and compare what tactics they use to fight fires as compared to your FD.Or Being that you're a Firefighter go to Detroit and ask one of your Detroit Brothers personally, which you can do and the rest of us civilians can't.
Never in a hurry
It's Detroit. Those dudes are overworked for low pay.
At least someone realizes it
@@bradbazzy581 Of course...and broken/wornout equipment
Bad example not wearing air mask
It doesn't seem as though there was anything to save
The adjacent buildings.
Wow. Talk about a I don't give a shit attitude.
Damn just let it burn. If I owned that building and saw this video. They wouldn't like me to Well
Detroit is lucky anyone shows up to fight fires. These guys a just about volunteers with the pay they're getting. Detroit is broke and setting fires is like the new past time for the residents who remain in that no man's land. Nice to see someone use a deck gun.
No wonder everything burns down in that city…
Zero sense of urgency. Sad.
Good footage, but more apparatus shots next time.
took too long to put water on the fire !
why did it take 5 2/3 mim to get the first drop the fire
I think I read somewhere that Detroit uses a reverse hose lay. You notice later in the vid the 1st engine was down the street with the hose trailing behind. They were probably waiting for the engineer to connect to the hydrant. Seems a waste to trail a single 2 1/2 down the street instead of a 4”
@@johnpotts8719 It's an absolute waste. The only time we'd ever use a reverse lay is if you're going to use a master stream because the fire is already huge, and it's a risk to put the apparatus that close. I've knocked down bigger fires dumping the tank while the second engine lays in. 5" supply lines are even better than a 4" line. We don't EVER use 2 1/2" lines for supply.
water supply issues, they cant just show up and start magically piss water out. A line of water flow needs to be established to put out a fire of that size. Also its detroit, their fire service is severely underfunded for the area of response.
Did the pump operator fall asleep?
U have got to be joking 4+minutes to get water to the tip why bother showing up!
What's the rush? It's a row of vacants.
Why do they just stroll around.
I thought it was an emergency. Ho Hum,,
It has to burn to a certain extent before it's considered to be a working fire. I see lots of fires where countless crucial moments count down before they start fighting the fire.
Curious why you don’t lay off a hydrant when you see fire. Goons need more water
We do reverse lays in the D. All engines are set up that way. Why a lot of hydrants don’t work. So why would you lay from a hydrant to the structure when it could be a good chance that hydrant doesn’t work it’s better off to drop the bundle go find your hydrant
I coulda PISSED on this one and put it out faster than these jokers did no wonder detroit is burning no firefighters
Right because they close a third of the companies
@@bradbazzy581 This is what you get when you vote in the DEMONCRATS that ran all your jobs to mexico and China and now they gonna do it again
They moved firefighting jobs to mexico and china? No wonder stuff burns. Thats a long response time
@@bradbazzy581 All the jobs in Detroit moved. Why the hell do you think there's hardly anyone there anymore??
Are you even in detroit?
What were they waiting for coffee and dounuts to come , don’t stand around do something you have exsposers
It’s Detroit, enough reasons
Can anyone say "air entrainment" 🤣
Great example of one of the reasons you dont fight a fire from the exterior with people inside the structure
Its also a great example of why combination nozzles suck for master streams
And why deck guns aren't the end all, be all that some people think they are
