Telling people who do a lot of both movies and music to get one of each type is terrible advice. If you do a lot of both and have the space, get two of the ported subs. And if you think it sounds better run them plugged in sealed mode for music. If you don't have the space well then obviously you need an SB-1000 or two.
I want to buy 2 as soon as I have the cash for it; 1 next to each speaker. Any idea if they take away bass from your speakers if you put them between the pre- and the power amp? My speakers sometimes can sound a bit muddy in the current setup and I want to take the heavy work of the bass away from them. I have a stereo NAD set, by the way. (C165BEE + C275BEE)
Excellent! A second sub can often provide a big improvement in bass performance and help deliver more consistent bass coverage throughout the room. Let us know how things turn out. 🙂
Price went up $100 on this in early October, Amazon and every retailer instantly raised their price $100, like they didn't have stock already, not like it's being produced immediately after the price increase, absolutely ridiculous behavior from retailers. SVS even broke their "promise."
just got my svs sb-1000 pro to compliment my existing setup Klipsch the Fives, with the intention to free up mids and highs on Klipsch. I never had sub before, and in the app it shows -10db loudness level. Is it correct to think if I use LFE port on sub and connect it to Fives back "sub out" port, it would by default redirect all signal lower than 80hz to subwoofer? The sound does feels natural, as if it comes straight out of Fives (i have it set up in triangle, where i sit on the couch, and sub is placed in between the speakers right in front of me). I appreciate all tips if I did anything wrong to unleash the potential of the sub, I haven't got down to parametric EQ yet, and heard about Y-cable as an alternative connection, but I'm not sure how in theory it would change the frequency crossfades between Fives' built-in receiver and SVS sub.
Your Klipsch The Fives does not redirect bass to the sub output when it is in use. The Fives will continue to produce the same bass they did before the subwoofer was connected. The output is not really filtered and so must be used with a powered sub that has a low-pass filter. This allows the subwoofer to be added to compliment the bass being produced by the speakers. We are happy to know you were able to dial in your setup and create a seemless blending of the subwoofer to the speakers.

In that case I'd recommend the SVS PB-1000 Pro. With the ported version you can get the best of both worlds...ported and sealed. SVS makes port plugs that you can insert in the ports to get a more tight sounding bass like sealed SB-1000 Pro when that is preferred.
Hi, in some of these images it looks like you had the SB-1000 Pro connected to Klipsch The Fives is that right? I am considering this sub for my Fives and am wondering how exactly you connected and set the crossover on the sub? Thank you
The Fives have a dedicated LFE Subwoofer output to connect to the powered subwoofer. As far a crossover settings, you can dial those in based on your ear, but typically, you would have a small over laps. The Fives play down to about 50 Hz, I'd set my sub crossover between 60-70Hz to ensure a full range signal.

everyone says if you do both have one of each... am I crazy to say that most people are doing both? the PB is better for theater but is the SB ok for theater applications too or is there a better alternative in that form factor for theater?
The PB is best for movies and still good for music. The SB is best for music but still good for movies. Some people do have both types and use the best sub for the content being played while others choose the sub that matches the main use for the system.
Although technically possible, it's typically not recommended and can result in phase cancellation and overall poor bass performance. When running a dual sub setup, it's best to use two sealed subs or two ported subs, and ideally, they would be the same exact model.

There is no one correct answer to which settings and levels to use. Each room has different acoustics and different needs. A good place to start is with levels set about average, filters off or set at maximum frequency range, and no EQ boosting. It’s actually a whole new set up for my son’s room. I want a kind of “budget” system, but something that can still impress. I’m looking at a Sony STR-AN1000 for the receiver, the Klipsch RF 8000FII or Polk R700’s, and the SVS SB-1000 Pro or maybe the Polk HTS10 and maybe the Polk ES-10’s for the rears (Not sure I want to go all Polk, since I’m considering the Klipsch and if the SVS sounds better than the HTS-10) My son watches some movies but gaming and music are his go to choices. I have to admit I get most of my “advice” from Andrew Robinson. Been following him since his Home Theater Review days.
In my opinion the SVS SB-1000 below is a true performer and would provide better bass than the Polk HTS10 due to having a larger woofer and more RMS power, by around 225-watts. I know that Andrew Robinson really dug the SB-1000 when reviewing them with the SVS complete surround sound system. Using the Klipsch 8000's for your mains and matching center channel will be a recipe for success! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc166/p_946SB1KPBA/SVS-SB-1000-Pro-Black-Ash.html
I'm currently using an older 12" MTX with my really old 500 watt Majestic amp and a car battery and charger, lol, will this SVS sub blow my current setup out of the water? Or should I break the bank and go with the 2000 or 3000?
I doubt this would increase the bass levels, but I do expect the SVS will sound more consistent throughout the room. So if you are able to get the levels you want without having to turn up the bass volume, then I think this sub will work just fine. However, if you had to turn up your current setup to get the levels you want, then I recommend you look at the other two models (PB3000 Pro if you just cannot get the levels you want at all with your current setup).
Unfortunately they nerfed the low end on the 4K re-release. To be fair it probably ended up blowing out a lot of those cheap subs the first time around.
If you have a larger space and want even response throughout, get dual subs. If you have a smaller space and/or only care about how it sounds in a single listening position, get a higher end single sub.
When there is no preference on the box type and movie performance is preferred above all else, the PB models are the best. That SB model would be a very nice choice for when music is the main preference but able to get more subwoofer to help improve movie performance.
@@crutchfield thanks, i heard that u can run the pb's in apl as plugged, maybe it will give them more precision. Is the pb so unprecise for music ? I have a closed jbl and a small living room and the drone is quiet heavy. Hope the pb wont drone more than my jbl...
No, its not that but definitely is linked to sealed boxes exerting more control over the cone movement creating more accurate bass than a ported box does because of the port. Plugging it would help, but would not create as much rigidity as a completely sealed box. However, getting a ported box along with the port plugs is one way to getting a setup that has even better blending of bass between music and movies. Also, getting a stronger, more powerful sealed box subwoofer does that too. Bracing the cabinet is NOT so you don't loose bass! What a dumb thing to say. It's to stop the cabinet producing sound output colourations. Why don't you answer all the questions put to you below?? And when you're talking about frequency responses, you MUST mention if that's at the -3db point, as without that, the figure is meaningless.
Make sure to look at what those 12" drivers look like. Cheap steel stamped basket, tiny 2" voice coil, small single stack magnet, leads to vc are slap and not woven into the spider. In this price range the cost is not budget, but drivers are cheap. 2000 series looks a lot better from price/performance ratio, but in the 1000 line price point, there are other manufacturers that are using much better drivers.
@@89thedawg It's not a warranty issue, it's the price point issue. While I was wrong when I posted that it's a single stack magnet, in a larger picture I did see that it's a double stack, it's still a tiny motor on a tiny voice coil in a super cheap basket. So far the best driver in this price range that I've seen in on Focal subs. To me it looks like manufacturers are getting away with using super cheap and weak drivers because of integration of servo tech with room tuning software. That way they can stuff a very poorly performing driver and use software to even out the curves.
@@BigSmartArmed Since you started bashing SVS 1000 line not knowing what you're talking about then corrected your statement about the drivers magnet, how much do you really know about their products? Do you even own SVS products for A and B testing?
@@retroforce6919 I agree with you, 100% bashing on wind. At this pricepoint you can't get such a good subwoofer (at least in Europe) with DSP control, a flat response down to at least 20Hz, a driver that doesn't bottom out, and a port that will not chuff like crazy when the subwoofer is under stress (I'm looking at you, XTZ !). The drivers of the 1000 series may not look fancy but they work ! A driver is all maths and engineering, not "oh this one looks better than the others so it must be better right ?" And to quote Focal subwoofers is funny, as below the 1000F sub (1000€ while the PB1000 is 600€), they lack both infrabass and punch.
Obviously it doesn’t make sense for 99.99 % of normal users to buy 2 subs. Your review gives me the feeling that the PB is no good for music and the SB is no good for movies. So I am struggling if I should buy any of them. Really no help, thanks for that.
In an average sized room, they both sound pretty good for both movies and music. Comparing the two, the SB is a little tighter with music and the PB goes a little deeper and louder for movies. The significant size difference might also play a big role (like it did for me).

You should really try the intro scene from Edge of tomorrow...😜😜😜 the first half minute with that rumble
Or Blade Runner 2049.
Unfortunately they nerfed the low end on the 4K re-release. To be fair it probably ended up blowing out a lot of those cheap subs the first time around.
Hi im from italy, i must to choose the subwoofer and I watch movie and gamer ps5 witch is to choose? The pb or sb ? Thanks
Go with the pb! It goes lower which is better for movies and games
@@pulpshuffle thanks i take this the PB 1000 PRO for movies e gaming ps5 thanks 🙏👏🎮🕹👻
The PB models are better for your interests
Can you pair this with PB16
Why not?
What would be the best option, dual sb1000 pro's or a single svs sb3000?
If you have a larger space and want even response throughout, get dual subs. If you have a smaller space and/or only care about how it sounds in a single listening position, get a higher end single sub.
Hmm so pb1000pro or sb2000pro for movies and music ?
@@crutchfield wow thank u buddy ! :)
Hi, is there a big difference between the SVS PB-2000 Pro and this new PB-1000 Pro in sound quality and felling? Thanks
There is definitely a difference with being able to feel the bass. The PB-2000 Pro model hits noticeably harder than the PB-1000 Pro model
Do they match well with KEF LS 50s?
Yes, an SVS 1000 will compliment them very well. Are you leaning toward sealed or ported?
@@crutchfield thx. I have a small living room, so definitely ported. 700 EUR. I wish the price was lower here in EU:)
I got the sealed one only because it came in white and because it was smaller. O only plan on using it for music outside
Are you planning on leaving your SVS SB-1000 subwoofer permanently installed in an outdoor location?
Just during the summer. Then it comes into the garage. I only want it for music. I had a 12" Klipsch and it sounded great but it wasn't a closed version so I'm hoping this sounds as good or better@@crutchfield
Can you move the sub indoors when not in use and protect it from the elements or did you want something outdoor specific?
I plan on leaving it outdoors during the summer and bringing it back in the house after the summer@@crutchfield
In that case, an outdoor specific option will work better. What type of receiver or pre amp will you be using?
Very nice 👍🏼 at this price grills should be magnetic 🧲
Cone on SVS the New Polk sub at $450 have magnets 🧲 on grills.
These or the Monolith 12?
We do not have any experience with Monolith gear to know how it would compare to these subwoofers. I wish I had different news for you there
Awesome review. Clear and great
Thanks! We're glad to hear that you found it helpful! 🙂
@@crutchfield i bought it this month. Its great. But i have a question. In the app you can set the "port tuning" on open or close.
But what is the amp adjust with that setting? I plug the ports with the foams and thats it. What does the amp do?
I have both love them
Nice!! Sounds like you love bass! Are you using them together in the same system?
SVS PB1000pro suwoofers goes even below 17 Hz, be it at a lower volume (which can be compensated by equalizers).
A UA-cam test video started at 5Hz and I heart/felt it easily!
Sounds like you're having fun with your SVS sub! What type of setup are you using it in?
@@crutchfield 5.1.4 set up through an Onkyo RZ50 amplifier. in a 50 m² living room.
Sounds like a formula for success to me! Are you enjoying mostly movies and TV or a good bit of music as well on your system?
@@crutchfield Music via Spotify & UA-cam. I never heart accurate base so deep, so resonance free.
Movies via Netflix / UA-cam with lowered volume control on deep rumbles, to not disturb my appartment neighbours to much.
It's great to hear that you are happy with it! 🙂
dang $1,200 for both thats a Steal of a deal...Totaly worth my money.
too bad you guys don't sell svs in Canada...
Summit Hifi is a fantastic dealer for all SVS gear in Canada.
@@chrisenns7910 do they do all of Canada? I live in Ottawa, kinda sounds more like a bc or Alberta-type deal. Ill have to check it out.
@@SkittlesScott Absolutely. They are an online retailer that sells all across Canada, based out of Toronto. Aamir is amazing for customer service and supporting his products.
This video stops loading 1/4 way through. And replies to comments are not viewable
I am sorry you are having trouble viewing. I just checked the link on my end and was able to view the entire video, it's a good one and SVS subwoofers are some of my personal favorites!
Dana White now reviews subs? Cool!
can we combine PB 1000 pro and SB 1000 pro??, i need deep bass also tight bass
What type of setup are you looking to add the subs to?
Sound like great subs for the money when consumers are on a reasonable budget
That SB1000 will surprise you at times!

wow
This sells for $1000 in canada right now...
Here in Europe, the gloss black SB is €849 and the PB goes for €949. That's $940 and $1050 US respectively... They were introduced at €699...
I don’t want rumble. I want tight, clean, precise. I’m in a townhome, and this will be placed 3 feet from my neighbor’s wall.
The SB model maximizes your goals. It can be found here:

I run both
I'm curious about this. Do you use one or the other for movies or music or run them both all the time? Thanks!
I was at a store yesterday that had both of them.
5 year warranty,so any issue and they will be replaced with no questions asked.
@@BigSmartArmed Which Focal sub?
Love my SB1000 and better pro version better
Obviously it doesn’t make sense for 99.99 % of normal users to buy 2 subs.
Your review gives me the feeling that the PB is no good for music and the SB is no good for movies. So I am struggling if I should buy any of them.
Really no help, thanks for that.
Agreed.
Maybe get the PB and the port plugs?
In an average sized room, they both sound pretty good for both movies and music. Comparing the two, the SB is a little tighter with music and the PB goes a little deeper and louder for movies. The significant size difference might also play a big role (like it did for me).
"just get one of each" .... ok hold on, lemme just sell my other kidney real quick
