@@cheapaudioman You guys are tempting be on a deep level to do something ridiculous that only a handful of us would enjoy but oh god would it be hilarious for the few of us lmao
Hey thank's Zawa! Glad you enjoyed the review. Yeah mic stuff gets complicated, I use a $100 mic, sometimes it sounds great, sometimes it just sounds okay, I think it's just good enough lol.
Timely review, just started getting a 2Ch system together with main priority being music but will get plenty of use with TV too (but by far second priority to music playback). Picked up the Focal Aria 906 and stands for half price, getting the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 and just deciding on sub now. Stuck between this and the SB-2000 Pro, room is 5.4m X 4.2 so I think the SB-1000 Pro is sufficient (corner placement the only option, so some room gain to be had).
soooo, surprisingly the cheaper 1000 pro integrated better for me, you know I have the Aria 906 also, so that was a big surprise. Also the REL HT1205, T5X, and Rythmik F12SE all paired well with Aria 906. Aria is a quick speaker with respect to bass so it needs a quick to respond sub.
@@NZtechfreak Hi Murray, just reading your message I was surprised too...I am planning to buy exactly the same system (Aria 906- 2 x SVS 1000 pro and the TDAI-1120). Are you fully satisfied and or do you have any further suggestions or is it just perfect?
@kenzodijkstra Superb. Room perfect makes such a difference and sub integration is dead easy. Whether it's the TV or the turntable, streaming, internet radio or UPnP the Lyngdorff is perfect.
I have the previous SB-1000 (non-pro). I was really attracted by it's size. I love the sound it produces. I know the Pro version steps it up with deeper extension and the app but I'm just going to stick with my "old school" SB-1000 for now.
I am based in South Africa and the SVS prices are crazy expensive I manage to get 2 SB-1000s which I pick up this weekend at a heavily discounted price. The SB1000 in usd value was around $1200 to purchase in my country before the discount. The current 1000 Pro version is around $1700
Here is Extra info: SQ (Sound Quality) is about having clarity and fidelity while being able to hear every single frequency of the song nice and clear. SPL (Sound Pressure Levels) on the other hand is about being loud & measuring cabin pressure in dB's (Decibels). In movies SPL is better option
About attack versus integration, in my opinion it depends on the amplifier you are using for your speakers. Class D has a very high damping factor and if the subwoofer is class D and the speakers are not, then you are getting the subwoofer to stand out. But if both subwoofer and speakers use class D, then both will have the strong attack and should integrate well.
@@NemoPropaganda Interesting thought. In that case a relatively "underpowered" SB1000 Pro should be better to integrate than an SB2000 Pro for example as the lower powered driver needs less mass and coil gauge, but that is not what you observed, so I don't know. :)
@@matiaserp That's exactly what I observed :) The 1000 pro was the best integrating SVS sub I've had so far. I just shoot these videos very candidly so not everything can make it into the video or it would be like 45 minutes.
I can’t agree at all with your statement. Otherwise no audiophile would get a sub to complement their systems with Class A/B, Class A or vacuum tube amplifiers since the great majority of subs now use Class D amps. If the sub stands out, it’s turned up too loud, poorly placed, or both.
Love your channel! Just wanted to express my surprise at how SVS is able to keep these bang for your buck subs so affordable. It seems in the last 18 months many companies have raised the prices of their subs or amps $100+.
@@JimboJason Nice, even at the new price it's still impossible to beat for the money. Just make sure you get the phase setup right and you'll be rocking!! On the RSL I think it sounds best with the frequency turned down all the way unless your room is really big but feel free to experiment.
I used to have old Marantz SR6003 without the measurment mic of the AVR itself. Upgraded to 1st gen good base model Yamaha RX-6VA and with it's YPAO settings configured with the mic the whole system opened up and everything sounds super smooth. Running it YAPO Flat sound setting. I know this is far from what expesnive AVR systems can do, but beats the old Marantz
I just got 2 of these for my setup. I havent got them properly calibrated, but i have someone coming up to calibrate the new tv and audio system in the coming weeks. I can say, that even without it being calibrated, and coming from a couple of old wharfedale subs, that the difference is night and day. I know it will sound even better calibrated. Tested out a couple of movies, and theres just so much sonic impact, and old scenes become new again. I had originally planned to pick up a couple of sb1000 classics, but i went for the pros, and i am glad i did.
I picked up an SB-1000 Pro for my office of that size, in a 2.1 system. It replaced a JVC 8" 50watt sub, and the cabinet is the exact same size!! I can't believe how much sound comes out of such a petit form factor. Anyway, I highly recommend for a small room. It's very natural, tight, deep, and punchy. The app features do a great job helping it integrate in my room. I've also brought it home for my theater system, ran it as a single, ran it as duals. It doesn't quite have the authority for a home theater room on it's own (albeit, its sound quality is excellent, especially for its price point). Bottom line, it's a great value, especially for a small room.
Now this is my type of subwoofer. Having said that if you want to get down to 20 hz this one won't do it without some room gain so you might not achieve it. I read where 25 hz is more realistic before it starts to fall off. I'd get the SB 2000 pro myself, actually 2. Nice review.
I agree but at $300 more money it's not an option for everyone and at that point we can say well another few hundred and we can get the 3000 and so on, it never stops lol.
@@NemoPropaganda Yeah, it never stops. I tried 5 subs about 8 months ago and 4 of them I just knew within a day or 2 that I couldn't live with them long term. The other seemed to barely do it and I thought that 5 or so years of living with it just wasn't for me if it barely fit the bill. This one seems to be my 'entry level' point but I haven't heard it. I ended up stealing my JL audio 10w6s from the car.
@@Roof_Pizza I would spend more than 2 days before making a decision. Most subs need a hard 12 hours minimum to break in. I have spoken to engineers at various companies who have said this and my own experience with SPL car audio subs has shown it to be true.
@@NemoPropaganda If you don't like it then no, more time wont help. It might go from bad to tolerable but that'd be about it. Whatever the case, sub $500 subs just don't do it for me.
@@Roof_Pizza I've gone from hate to love a few times with subs. Just depends how stiff the suspension is when it's new. My digital design 712 that was in my car sounded awful at first, absolutely no low end, after about 12 hours that suspension started to loosen and I gained a ton of low end, it's still breaking in though.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you for your respons. Do you think a svs 1000 pro is “good/big” enough for my living room? Or should I save money for a bigger 2000 pro?
@@TennisDK-hy7hr hard to say, you do have a big room. Enough bass is very subjective. For one man 1 sb1000 is enough for your room but someone else might want 4x SB16 so it's hard to say.
Good advice on calling SVS. They have been extremely helpful with room placement, trying to Integrate my old school NSD-12 in a very tricky room full of modes and nulls (as you know I plan to upgrade with Rythmik, REL, or possibly JL). As for a replacement, they recommended the SB-2000 Pro for my room and system (which is commendable, rather than just trying to upsell the biggest sub they make). I do like their products, and I plan to use one in my office system. For my main living room system, I plan to go more SQ.
For a medium L shaped room, with the audio gear in the short end and speakers pointing towards the other wall at 4.5m, combining the sub with Dali Rubicon 2 bookshelfs, which would be the better option: - SVS SB-1000 Pro for €764 - SVS SB-2000 Pro for €1034 - Arendal 1961 1S for €999 I probably wont be able/allowed to play at high volume, so medium volume performance is most important. I love the Dali Rubicon's fast rhythm, clean sound and detail. I'd like to keep size small (WAF) and budget somewhat limited. I know this is slightly setup related, but SVS nor Arendal will be objective. Would really appreciate your advice!
Dali have very good bass as far as tone & richness, I would suggest something like a REL T7X instead. Not because the T7X is better perse but because the tonal sound of the REL T7X is more inline with the Dali's bass so they will enhance eachother rather nicely. I'm assuming this is a music system.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks, appreciate the quick response! I will use the sub for music, movies and gaming in a roughly 50/40/10 distribution. I currently have an old (2014) Mordaunt-Short MS909W sub that's very musical, but on the large size, wrong finish for our interior and doesn't go deep (-3dB at 30 Hz). Musicality is very important to me, but I'd also like the sub to go deep. Would the REL with an 8" woofer suffice in this situation? The corner of the room with the audio gear is around 23 m2 while the whole room is around 50 m2.
@@macvos its hard to say if the 8" REL T7X will be enough because how much bass is "enough" is very personal but I think for movies a single 8" would not be enough for most people. i like the SB1000 pro a lot and a I like the 1961 1S a lot. The SB2000 Pro is good too but the 1961 1S is very similar and slightly better though it does not have a cell phone app.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks again! I'll order the SB-1000 Pro and see how it goes. If it's not to my liking I'll return it. Depending on how it does musically and on power, I'll then try either the 1961 1S or REL.
Think you could make a review on the new KRK 12.4 subwoofer? (Not many reviews on it out here, I only saw one review of it which is more of a dj salesman review). I am curious about it because of it's low wattage, big box and big port. It might be more convenient than the sb 1000 for power consumption but I also would like to know how it may compare in sound. Unfortunately the electrical circuit in my house is old and not ideal for larger wattages so I need to keep that in consideration as well.
Good video Nemo. What are your thoughts on speaker level vs line level inputs. For my music only system I currently have dual sealed subs driven by speaker level inputs from my amp and they sound great and blend well, but unfortunately one of the sub amps is starting to loudly hiss and is slowly on it's way out. So I'm looking for another pair of subs. I prefer speaker level inputs just as REL endorses, but SVS and Rythmik do not seem to support speaker level inputs on most of their products. REL subs are out of my budget zone. Please advise. ☮
When REL speaks about high-level they are specifcially talking about their own high-level and not other brands as they are not the same. Most subs will sound better using an rca cable unless your subwoofer output or preoutput has some delay, a weird filter, noise, or some other issue and then in that situation your sub might sound better using high-level because it's getting a cleaner signal. This should not be an issue on most modern gear however. Remember the high-level on the back of most subs simply converts it to low level (RCA) internally and the signal is ultimately received as if you had just plugged in an RCA cable so if your sub sounds better via high-level then your source most likely has one of the issues I mentioned (some delay, a weird filter, noise, or some other issue).
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate your dedication to your viewers. Everything you stated makes sense, but from my understanding the purpose and main benefit of using speaker level inputs is to allow the tonal characteristics of the main system amp to be shared with the subs. To potentially keep the main speakers and subs drinking from the same well, so to speak. That’s got to be beneficial and somewhat audible. I’m thinking about the SVS SB1000 Pro due to its affordability for two subs but as you say, I’m in the SQ camp and not sure if the SB1000 will meet my expectations. A friend has a pair of the previous gen SB1000 non Pro’s and they hit pretty hard in his non treated living room but he’s really not an audiophile. I have a dedicated music room that is fully treated and I hear everything. Probably should try the Rythmiks with the line level inputs and see what happens. 🖖🏽

Awesome explanation on SPL vs SQ subwoofers. I started out as an SPL guy with PB1000 in my small media room but evolved into SQ now using dual REL HT1205s. I watch a mix of Hollywood & Indian movies / shows and I really enjoy the SQ feel of the whole setup. Only downside is that, like you mentioned, most of the friends want SPL slam and attack and not easily impressed with the output!
Don't know which sub to get. PB1000 or SB 3000. My usage is around 70% movies/games and 30% music. Music can be anywhere from old school hiphop, club, reaggea, Rock, metal to Jazz music. I currently run B&W 705 S2's and a B&W 608 sub but wanting to upgrade that. I don't to have too big of a sub in my house thats why the debate between dual sb1000 or pb. Or start with a SB3000 and maybe later add a second. Currently living in a appartment living room is 20 m2 (65 square foot if google is correct).
Hey Rob, the SB3000 max 30hz output is 3.3dB higher than the PB-1000 Pro, if you want a smaller sub that still has crazy output I would get the SB3000 for sure!
Nice review, thanks. I’ve also just watched your review from quite a while ago on the B&W AWS608, which you really rated back then for music based listening. I’m at the decision point for my first sub, to fit in with 5 x B&W M-1 satellite speakers. Room is about 12’ x 15’, open on one side to open plan living area. I rarely listen above 75dB, and focus is more on music and than movies or gaming. Three choices available where I am is SVS SB1000 pro, or B&W 610 or 608. Prices drop by about $100AUD between each one. (about $70US). Unfortunately I don’t have chance to listen to any prior to purchase. With the M-1’s being such small satellites, would you think the SVS could be mismatched, or still the best option. I’m mainly asking because you rated the B&W 608 so highly for matching in with small bookshelf’s, for music. Thanks for your help.
ASW608 should be okay for you but consider REL HT1003 or T5X if the price is close. SB1000 Pro while maybe a bit overkill I think is actually a good option still too. SB1000 Pro integrates pretty good, from all the SVS subs I tried it was actually one of their best integrating models and you should be able to hear one in a showroom so that will help too! My problem with the 608 is it's too expensive in my opinion and is over 12 years old now.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for your quick reply. The REL units are in a different price level here in Australia. The TX5 is nearly double the price of the ASW608., and the 1003 is also several hundred more than the B&W’s and SVS. I guess the B&W’s are seeing some discounting here due to their age. I’ll try to get a listen to the SVS. Happy new year to you.
@@bancombe1 I ended up going with the B&W 608. I‘ve been really happy with it, it does everything I need of it, and I couldn’t justify the price difference for the other models. Physical dimensions of the 608 was another factor for it being a better option for me.
I got the sb 1000 pro and 2 svs satellites as a package and as a noob to hobby I couldn’t be happier. I’m 65/35 streaming shows and movies. The on the fly adjustment makes all the difference. If wasn’t able to switch up settings between movies and music I would either be underwhelmed or annoyed by the volume of the bass. Now I have the eternal (rhetorical) question though. Should I by another sb 1000 pro for dual setup or bump up to a bigger sub? Thank you for yet another fantastic video. I really enjoy your delivery and knowledge.
Hey Glenn, thanks for the kind words. The SB1000 pro is fantastic and a pair would be even cooler. It really depends which 1 bigger sub you're considering upgrading to over the pair and what aesthetic you want in your room :)
Hello. First of all congratulate yourself for the review, you explain perfectly how the SVS 1000 is and how good its app is. For a few weeks I have the Svs Sb-1000 pro, exclusively for music, to complement fullrange speakers in open baffle that do not reach those low frequencies. I am really delighted with the result, the system has now improved tremendously. My question is would I further improve my system if I put 2 subwoofers instead of 1? The listening room is not very large (5x3 meters) and the listening point nearby, 2 meters Thank you and go ahead
Hi Ben, generally 2 will sound better than one as long as you can get the setup properly but if you are happy with what you have sometimes it's best to leave things as is :) but then again us audio guys aren't very good at that :D
So the 1205 is a little bigger and $300 more money so it's important to remember that. The 1205 took the edge for music. It played quicker and a bit more textured.
Just discovered you. You are really a good and informative speaker and are excellent on camera. I just acquired one SVS SB 1000 Pro for my TV room and it is everything you said it is. Blends beautifully with my little, cheap B&W 302’s and 1960 Heathkit 12 WPC integrated tube amp I refurbished. But on my main music system (Bowers and Wilkins 805 D3 speakers and Luxman L-590 AxII integrated) I choose a pair of Martin-Logan Dynamo 800x subwoofers. They are smaller than the SB 1000 and easier to hide and place, has a hidden down firing driver, and are only somewhat more expensive at retail $899 each (though as of this writing they’re 20% off). In comparison, the SB 1000 has maybe a smidge more output in the lowest octave than a single Dynamo, but the Dynamo 800x blends more seamlessly with the 805’s, particularly in the crossover region where they prove to be as agile as the 805’s mid-bass drivers. The system now does cellos properly and the subs do indeed disappear. And by using a pair - and this is true with any pair of subs - I have more grunt and thwack than I will ever need or use. Like the SVS, the M-L sub has full app control but additionally adds the excellent and effective ARC room correction (you can do it with your phone). Just another great choice for you SQ sub folks.
Hey Dan, thank you for the comment, I didn't know ML subs were more SQ focused. I'll reach out to them and see if they're interested in a review! Your two systems sound killer, I've not had a tube amp yet but I'm sure I will one day.
I completely agree Subs 12 inch and more is must have for home theater and SVS is making very good subwoofer at a decent price. As far as listening to music, I prefer compact sub, I have the Rel Tzero Mkii with the Focal chora 806 and it's quite good.
@@NemoPropaganda that was my first option, but I had to take the small one because I live in a townhouse and I want to keep a good relationship with my neighbors.
What’s the point of the speaker output on the subwoofer? Does the sub have an amp built in to run 2 additional speakers? Also, what are all the other RCA inputs for on the back of the subwoofer? Only ever used ONE RCA input for LFE? Have a 15+ year old Paradigm 12” ported sub. It still sounds excellent, but eventually will upgrade to a ported sub. My speakers are Kef, so am considering a Kef sub, but the svs is a much better value.
Just found your channel. Excellent and educated information. Thank you. Aren't all sealed subs supposed to be more on the "SQ" side? Also, the NHT sub 300 watt version would you recommend it?
Never heard the NHT but at that price I'd go for the REL 1003. Yes most sealed subs are more on the SQ side versus their ported counterparts but I don't review large ported theater subwoofers since this channel is for 2ch music :).
Sb1000pro or pb1000pro for an first floor apartment with 40% music 60% movies? Speakers are Acoustic Energy AE500 with Denon PMA-900HNE. Space is not a problem, it will stay on side of my sofá. Thanks in advance
PB will have stronger rumble effects for movies while SB will be a little tighter/responsive for music. It just depends which you value more. Since you said 60% movies I'd say PB.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you for your help, will Sb1000pro be more neighbour friendly than Pb1000pro? I plan buying isolation feet too, but i l'm afraid of cops 🤣 cut
@@Anatatto its hard to say bro, I had a PC2000 in an apartment without any problems. I think if you want the PB you should buy the PB, you can always turn it down and still enjoy some nice rumble where as the SB will need to be turned up louder for that rumble effect. Basically what I'm saying is I think you will enjoy the PB more at lower volumes in an apartment.
@@Anatatto yeah, I feel ported subs generally sound fuller in an apartments when you have to keep the volume down. This is a generilzation of course but I have found it to be true with SVS. Think like this: the larger ported sub is like a car with a big engine, it can drive fast no problem but it can also drive slow and even when driving slow you can feel the effortless power of the big engine. If you feel the PB is too big then go for the SB1000 Pro, it's still a fantastic sub. I think PB1000 Pro is the one for you bro. You will not live in that apartment forever and it will sound fuller at lower volumes that your current apartment requires.
I just bought an SVS SB-1000 Pro for the home theater system in our 22ft x 16ft room. It is performing well and the bass is filling up the room enough for us (listening at low volume most of the time), but I am using the sub at -10db and Marantz is set at +10db for the subwoofer which is generally considered too high. Would you recommend an upgrade to SB-2000 Pro or shall I stay with SB-1000 Pro although I need to set the sub out volume high.
-10 and +10? So you're basically at 0 aka the subwoofer is simply running without attenuation, as long as it's not running into to audible distortion and the quantity of bass you have is satisfactory for your needs I say keep what ya got!! Subwoofers are made to run hard, let it run hard, it can handle it. But yes your room is a little big and most people might have preferred the 2000 pro instead for it's extra output but based on what you're saying it sounds like you are happy with the output. Don't worry about where the gain (volume) is set, if you have clean output and sufficient output I don't see a problem.
Yeah after my research I thought about getting the SB1000 but decided that the PB 1000 best meat my needs because I want to hear it slam with clean smooth bass in my music and movies can’t wait to get it going I just unboxed it bad boy it looks great the black ash color it’s smooth it’s clean it’s it’s it’s amazing
I'm about to set up a SB-1000 pro with a pair of Focal 806's in a 5X4 metre room. I'm more interested in music listening than movies. I can't wait to hook it all up! @@Quadruple_curious no no no, $250 is too low lol, the Aria are a really good speaker so you can't just put any subwoofer with them. I think the SB-1000 pro is the most entry level you want to use. As mentioned in the video I really was able to achieve fairly good integration.
I love your videos! Thanks for the content. Question: SB-1000 Pro vs. 3000 Micro? Multipurpose use: theatre (7.1), music, & games. Open room 19x16, one wall to dining room, one wall to kitchen. Looking at high gloss white for WAF. Also, would 2 subs be worth the additionion. Been researching the comparison, but I can't find much on it. Thanks!
i was thinking about the heavy cone and how it all relates, force factor(Bl) helps here. thats why i dont like passive radiators, since they are heavy cones with extra mass added to it. same with ports, a resonating tube dont help. it might help with integrating a slow sub. now i am trying something new and have 2.77grams cone weight drivers i need to match with subwoofers, wish me luck?
Congratulations! I am enthused by your passion and impressed by your clear, to the point honest explanation. Thank you! I listen to this set in my living room 20 ft x 16ft x 9.8ft. When listening, I sit in front of the speakers across the 16ft width of the room. I’d very much appreciate your advice in choosing a subwoofer that will blend well with my existing system and set-up. Thank you very much.
Happy to get a quick reply from you. I am in Manila, Philippines. I hope to be able to find and order your suggested subwoofer from Singapore or Hongkong.
Unfortunately, it is not available in our part of the world. I checked quickly in google - - it ships all the way from Rotterdam and the price of the 1723 subwoofer 1s is quite steep - $1,499. Pls educate me. My power amp delivers 2 x 460 W (1% THD 2.70) or 2 x 300 W (1% THD 4.0 ). What minimum subwoofer power will go well with it? Thank you.
i’m in a situation where I have a big room (16x26) and want good low end extension at very casual listening levels for music. I’m in a condo so I can’t be slamming it anyways, i’d like to think that a smaller sub can reach down low as long as the volumes are low enough, but am I dreaming?
Hey my man, unfortunately yes you are dreaming :D A larger subwoofer is actually what will give you what you're looking for, that effortless bass even at low volumes with great extension. There are 2 small subwoofer that can do that however and it's the KEF KC62 or KF92. For your room size I think KEF KF92 is the best solution based on your needs :).
Very timely review for me, as I'm on the trial review period for this sub. I have limited space in my office (11' x 12' a 9' sloped ceiling, and a bump out closet). I listen to mostly music and watch you tube videos from my computer. With such limited space, would it be advantageous to add a second sub? Also, I have an older Martin Logan Dynamo 300 sub, and was wondering if a second sub is suggested, could I use that, or should I get another SB 1000 pro? I appreciate any insight you could give me, thanks.
That's very similar to my room and I found dual subs advantageous :). I don't like mixing but it's worth a try for sure, sometimes it works well but usually it doesn't.
I just find a svs sb1000 pro for 300 euros and i immediately sold my sb1000 for the same price. There is some improvements in sound and some very surprising differences. The surround on the woofer of sb1000 pro is way more softer than the sb1000. It seems that the composition of the surround is changed. The grill is not full piece of wood but a made of a thin plastic but robust. But in terms of use the sb1000pro is the big winner compare to the old one
I can't really answer that question, it's all a balance, the driver should be light but it needs some mass to retain it's stiffness, it's like any other part of the subwoofer. The plate amplifier needs a strong output section to handle dynamic swings, the cabinet needs to be built well and sized appropriately, the filters need to be designed intelligently. No single one of these aspects on their own makes a subwoofer good or bad and their relationship is highly relatable. The whole system has to have the right balance of all these things (and more). Both have their benefits (heavy/light moving mass) but we're getting into a realm I honestly don't enjoy discussing as we'd have to make very broad generalizations to avoid writing a book to answer the question :). If you're really interested in that sort of thing the DIY groups are a great source of info.
I will say this about SPL vs SQL... I use my system daily... I would say 60/40 movies/music. I never had a single complaint with my old SQL setup. I lived with the b&w asw608 and 685s for almost 10 years ...Loved it perfect match.....Honestly some times I would check to make sure it was actually on and crossed over right... I got kids so this was a legit worry lol. I upgraded speakers and sub. My sub I went with the svs sb2000 pro. Zero regrets. I know I got it turned up to much .... But God it feels good on movies!!!! And I am listening to more music now then ever before. Next upgrade will probably be a second sb2000 pro... Or go for a single sb4000. Mixed emotions on this right now 😂
my room is around 800 cubic feet, and i have the klipsch r-51pm bookshelf speakers. I only watch movies. Do you think i should get the svs 1000 sealed or ported version? Also, would you recommend new bookshelf speakers, i heard these r-51pm speakers suck on reddit.
bro reddit is full of haters, if you're happy with the r51pm that's all that matters :). As far as the SB versus the PB it's pretty simple the PB will have twice the output and is physically larger while the SB is much smaller and will play al ittle tighter. Your room is not that big so I think you will be happy with either one.
I love both rel and svs I personally enjoy svs for edm rap music movies and I enjoy rel for movies all other types of music only problem is im not sure if the new rel 1003mk ii is worth it over the mk i at lower volumes mk i is just find but just bearly not enough spl when I listen at my absolute max volume of 75db at my mlp sub is hitting about 73db with dynamic swings hitting 87db
the answer is 100% yes, the biggest upgrade in the MK 2 HT range over the MK1 was output and the sub that saw the biggest improvement was the 1003 MK2. If you love your 1003 MK1 but need a little more the MK2 is for you. Of course you can always size up to 1205 MK2 if you want that bigger sense of scale and even more effortless bass that comes with larger subs.

Hola, gracias por el vídeo. Le quería preguntar si este sub sería demasiado para una habitación pequeña de unos 9 metros cuadrados. Sería para complementar un equipo hifi Rotel a11 tribute y Martin Logan Motion i15. Gracias y saludos!
Hello, I have a question for you. Do you think that the PB 1000 is a solid mix for tight bass when you want it vs lower end? I asked this because of the plugs it has to convert it in to a “sealed” sub. I’m still learning myself. The young jeezy song used to sound real nice on my Rockford fosgate t1 sub in my little ford focus in high school a loooooong time ago but I can’t remember if it was in a sealed box or not. Ugh. Also, I buy things I don’t understand. All I know was that that Rockford fosgate pretty much undid the car! Anyway, looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I have a micro 3000 but it appears my receiver sub out is broken so I haven’t been able to really test it out. Although I was thinking about the pb1000 pro. Subscribed!
no, I love the PB1000 Pro but it is not a tight sub even with the ports plugged. Most vented subs have leading edges that are a little rounder and a very strong low end, essentially most vented subs are designed for LFE duty. If you want a tight sounding vented sub there are a few options like the RSL 12S or Rythmik FVX12. If you're an old car audio guy and want big bass output that is heavy handed and weighs on you then you may enjoy something like an SVS SB3000, that's kind of like the home version of the Rockford sound. If you have the space the RSL 12S is an absolute monster.
Hi nemo , love your videos , because of you a finally choose and SB-3000 sub, but my friend picked the sb-1000 pro, was wondering if subwoofers needs break-in time before using them hard?
Good choices :D. Yes! Subwoofers have stiff suspensions that need a bit of time to loosen up. After break in they will usually play louder and have more authority/extension in the lower frequencies. Play a song like bass I love you on repeat for like 2 hours at medium volume. That should get it most of the way there. The rest of the break in will happen over time as you enjoy the subwoofer.
I don't test high level inputs on most subs as it's generally conisdered a legacy connection. I don't personally believe the high level input is what makes the subs different. Since you are between REL & SVS you should watch the video I made on how they are different, this should help you decide more than anything: ua-cam.com/video/rEz03XkcslI/v-deo.html
Just discovered your channel. Good job you're doing. I like how you talk and approach gear. I got a 1000 pro, kef q350 and have ordered a rotel 1572 mk2 which should be here in a couple of days. This integrated amp have sub out. Is there a audible difference to switch from the speaker output to the subwoofer kabel? I see a lot of heavy isolated RCA/sub cables on sales now, wondered if it could be worthwhile. Thanks for all the content, love it :) comments/ experience from other audiophiles are highly welcome and appreciated ❤️
Hi Stian, this is a topic we've talked about a lot in my free discord and the conclusion we've all come to is a good subwoofer cable is important for the best bass but it does not have to be very expensive. Most useres in my discord have reported that Worlds Best Cables RCA cables are fantastic and generally sell on Amazon for around $30.
Hi Nemo, What's your say.? What is more value for the Money, Single SVS SB 1000 Pro Sub, or Dual REL T5X Subs.? I've got Xavian MIA ll Bookshelves @ 4 Ohms. Atoll IN200 in Bypass mode as my Power amp. My Hall is Between Small to Medium Seize. Primary Application is Listening to Stereo Music.
Very cool and thank you for getting back with me! You really have some good videos, its good to find someone too that knows what there talking about! Thanks!
what is "enough" is a tough question to answer. I think you're making an excellent choice as that room is not too large and the SB1000 Pro is very compact so it will look and sound very good assuming your listening habits are not extreme.
How to get both of SQ and SPL? Don't buy balanced subwoofer-- whatever it drops SQ.- Just put multiful SQ subwoofers, (same models) In my case, I had a B&W asw 608 - it is excellent SQ but less SPL. So I added another 608 and 610 - SPL is improved alot still excellent SQ. I plan to add another 610.
In a shmedium room 12x22x8, for HT would you prefer a pair of SB1000 pros placed with mains- or a single sb3000 in a corner? I’m guessing the dispersion won’t be quite as even with the 3000, but it can play freq’s the 1000 pros likely can’t touch. Music integration not really a concern, as long as in-movie music sounds decent enough. Thanks!
first of all I'm very pleased to see you use the word shmedium, secondly is the whole room the theater room/living room or are you counting a kitchen also for example? Either way I don't love either option for a dedicated theater and would instead consider something like a single PB2000 pro or Rythmik FVX12. I made a video about the differences between brands like SVS & Rythmik you can see here ua-cam.com/video/rEz03XkcslI/v-deo.html that should help you decide. I also reviewed the FVX12 which you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/_rDxNytOg_g/v-deo.html&ab_channel=NemoPropaganda
@@NemoPropaganda I've done some measurements, and sadly no room for dual subs. I'm debating getting a 3000 micro with wireless positioned right behind my couch, or one sp/sb 1000/2000/3000 10-12ft away. Maybe stretch budget for the kef kc62 that is 50% more expensive than the 3000micro here. I'm not a super loud movie watcher (more like +/-90db) and also value hearing the bass when watching movies in night without waking the house. What would you recommend?
@@egiljo72 if you can only fit 1 any of those then any of the ones on your list will be cool, just pick the one that fits your budget and personally I would go for one of the PB models if possible as they will give you more output than the same SB model.
@@NemoPropaganda I ended up with one 3000micro, sitting right behind my chair it is awesome. In my small room it gives a fantastic explosive and tight punshy bass. Never had this quality bass in my room. Yes the deep deep rumble is not there, but I think this also is a advantage since there no rattling room noice to interfere with the sound. So all sound is tightened up and the clearity and details of all sounds is much higher than before. In my room this was s big step up from (my now broken) dual Ken Kreisler 808, that maybe was a bit to big for my room?
Nice review, I´m looking for a sub to my Focal aria 926 and i have a Rotel RA-1572 amp, medium size room. Would you recommend this sub for the setup i have? Just for music :)
If this was a theater setup I'd say hell yeah brother but generally I feel like light & airy speakers don't do well with heavy handed subwoofers in music only systems but some people do like that kind of contrast. I have not heard the Aria 926 but I have the Aria 906 as part of my permanent collection. Ultimately you have $3k/pair speakers which is not cheap, you're more than welcome to hop in the free discord and we'd be happy to help you find something that fits your room & personal needs. Maybe the SB1000 Pro is the right sub for you but we need chat more to see if that's the case which is impossible to do in the comments section of YT.
i am currently looking for either the pb or sb 1000 (but the non pro version) because i live in eu and the newer pro models are actually alot more expensive. but besides the apps and whatnot, they should not differ too much in overall output i think. here is the deal: my room is 5x4 meters, tv at the long wall. i watch 80% movies i would say. i initially thought pb1000. but the thing is: with my tv cabinet and my speaker stands and other furniture...i really dont have much space to place a sub, if i dont want to walk around it. So the sb1000 would actually be alot easier to work with (also apartment if that matters?). i have a couple spots here that would eventually be a nice spot and the pb simply wont fit there. do you think if i put a sb1000 into a 20square meter room. do you think i would still be happy with it?
hard to say as listening habits are so personal. There is a free discord link in all my newer videos. I suggest posting some pictures in there so we can see what kind of space you're working with.
Really enjoy your videos. I've decided SVS will be where I will look at for my sub upgrade in 2023. I am 90% Home Theater. Room is about 18'x13'x8'. Currently using a Goldenear Forcefield4 sub. Any thoughts towards a comparison of the SB200pro, PB2000pro and Dual SB1000pro? Cheers.
90% theater? PB for sure my man, a single PB2000 pro will out-thump dual SB1000 all day long. If it were me I'd try to go for dual PB1000 Pro if that's in the budget, if not then a single PB2000 Pro.
B&W rate their subs in peak power, the 610xp is maybe 250w or less. I do not recommend the ASW series anymore, it's very old and been ignored by BW. Instead of the 610XP I'd suggest a REL HT 1003 MK2. As far as the SB1000 Pro, it's a 12", it will play louder overall.
Love your channel. I have a 3.5mx4m room and upgraded ny speakers from B&W satellite speakers to KEF Q750 fronts, Q250c centre, Q50a as surrounds and IC200ER for in ceiling. I have a old B&W AS2 sub and looking to upgrade as well, I would like a SQ sub. I am looking at REL HT 1003, 1205 and SVS SB 1000 pro. I can't get hold of Rythmik or RSL subs here down under. I can't have 2 subs due to placement in the room. I don't like boomy bass which one of those should I get? I like the price and size of HT 1003 how do you think will it go with my system or do I need to go 1205?
Hey Parminder, thank you for the kind words, those are some beautiful looking speakers you have :). So that room is very similar to my room size. A single HT 1003 or SB1000 Pro will for sure be enough for music. For movies you know there is so much bass sometimes so you might sometimes wish you had the larger/more powerful 1205. Since you can only have 1 I think you should get the one that offers the most output like Emotiva RS11, REL HT-1205, SB-2000 Pro, or Arendal 1961. But still based on taste you might still want more, "how much bass is enough" is very personal but I think most people would be happy with one of those 4 I mentioned.
@@NemoPropaganda - really appreciate your prompt response. Yeah without the grills the KEFs look good and they sound great as well, I auditioned B&W 600 series, Dali Oberon series, Polk, Klipsch, Q accoustics, Revel and I liked KEF the most of those. I also heard Dynaudio in a stereo setup the instrument separation on those is just amazing but they were a bit expensive, I found the KEF to be closest to them and I got the KEF deal (pay for Q550 and get the 750) so they ticked all the boxes. Unfortunatly it will be hard for me to grab Emotiva or Arendal sub here in Australia. Most Home Theater Audio stores recommend getting the SVS but in a store I heard two REL subs rocking in a stereo setup and I was impressed with the quality of bass. The guy I bought the KEFs from recomended me the REL HT 1003 but another guy from the same store said HT 1205 which confused me but they were both REL over SVS. I like my B&W sub but I wanted to upgrade to get a better SQ sub not necessarily louder, I use my media room to listen to music, watch tv, movies. I think I tend to like the 10 inch subs as they are faster, though I used to own a JBL soundbar with a 12 inch downfiring sub in the past which was in a small room and it was great and powerful but my ears were not as trained back then as they are now. For example in my car I went from a Rockford 12 inch ported sub to a 10 inch DD audio and I like it more. With the size of my room there will be some room gain as the sub will be placed in a corner near to the wall, will the HT 1003 go low.
@@parmindersingh-fu8sh I don't think anyone will hear a difference in terms of speed between the 1003 and 1205. The 1205 is a super quick sub but it sounds like you really want the 1003. Sometimes we just have to pick based on "feeling". So you're feeling the 1003 is going to be the right one so I say go for it. I do this too and it usually works out okay.
Considering 2 of these in a 550 square foot room, for music. Seems about right . . . BUT, found a pair of Klipsch R-12SWi Wireless 12" Subwoofers for cheap. Not sure which way to go. Reason for two is bass drops out in some parts of the room.
I have SVS Wireless Pro bookshelf speakers paired with SVS SB 1000 pro subwoofer. What is the correct LPF setting in my subwoofer app? Some ways 90hz and 12db slope and make the LFE disabled. Or turn in off(LFE active)? Confused with the settings and I couldn’t get the right sound. My Sony XP700 Bluetooth speaker sounds way better. I spent $899 for the wireless pro and $699 for subwoofer but I couldn’t a good sound quality. I even tried Qobuz which supposedly has a high quality. Pls advise and thank you in advance.
Hi bro, since both your speaker and sub are made by the same brand I think it's best you call SVS, they are very good at helping people get the setup to sound good!
@@NemoPropaganda I did that and I get different answers so I just read the manuals, researched via internet and I still can’t figure out the best sound quality. Hope they are not defective and I bought them both brand new in less than a month.
@@jamesconcepcion6021 that doesn't sound like the excellent service they're known for. I did not run into any of those issues myself. I know it might be frustrating but I would try to call them again, they're usually really good.
Hey loved your review, got a new subscriber. Probably going to get this sub mainly because of size and the ease of use from the software. Can you generally share the differences in the game vs music vs movie profiles you have for this sub or post a pic.
Hey Dakxtre, welcome aboard! Better grab it before October as the price is going up on all SVS subs! As far as setup in the different profiles it really depends on the room but for games I like run the gain around 6dB higher than I do for music. As far as movies I actually don't care for bass in movies so I just leave mine setup the same way it was for music but I would imagine you'd have the movie profile setup with the gain also higher than music.
For two-channel listening is better SVS SB-2000 PRO or an SB1000 PRO with the option to buy another in the future? is better an SB-2000 PRO or two SB-1000 PRO?
Hi, looking for the best budget subwoofer that I can beat up on home theater.. I had REL top of the line subs before, and I was always scared to blast it on HT because it was so expensive I didn't want to screw it up. I sold them because of that fear and just want to get a really good budget HT sub that I don't care if it blows lol. I'm thinking the RSL Speed woofer 10s subs because it's so cheap and seems like a great option for HT that I can abuse and blast to get my house shaking. What do you think? Would that be the best option for what I'm looking for? Thanks, Shawn
Hey Shawn, subs usually start to make some ugly noises to let you know they're unhappy before they blow. RSL subs are great and I'm sure they can take a pounding but I'm not sure you'll be happy with something that's so far down market compared to what you owned previously. Instead of buying a sub that's too small and abusing it why not buy something appropriately sized that can handle the punishment? Something like a pair of SVS PB2000 Pro should fit the bill nicely and you'll never have to worry about it. If they blow most major companies have a good warranty anyway.
@@NemoPropaganda thanks! I agree.. I had the REL Acoustics R-528 stereo subs. I owned them for both 2 channel and HT, and I think REL still does that the best - integrating both HT and 2 channel listening. But I got new speakers which have subs built into them (Vandersteen) and I don't need the subs for 2 channel listening anymore.. So just need a stereo pair of subs to hit me in the gut in my HT. Thanks for the suggestion! Will take a look at the SVS subs :)

Hey, nice video I wonder If I need a subwoofer or not and if I can add it to my system or not. My Amp doesn't have a subwoofer out or something and my bookshelf speakers do have a bass reflect 8" C-CAM RST II mid-bass driver. I'm kind of new to the subwoofer material, but I think I could benefit from at least one sub in my system since I really love deep frequencies and bass. the 8" MA driver is good, it extends pretty low, you just need to ask yourself do you want more? If the answer is yes then you add a sub. The SB1000 Pro is a good option because its compact and has the speaker level inputs you'll need to connect it to your amp. If you need more help feel free to ask in my free discord, link is in the description.
Which one do you think is better, the svs sb 1000 or the rsl speedwoofer 10? I listen to edm, bass music, drum & bass, techno. I want to get the better one regardless of price between these 2.
speedwoofer is the best sub you can get under $500 but it is a minimalist design where the SB1000 pro is a full featured subwoofer with tons of options and settings and also much smaller. The RSL can play louder and has a stronger low end but the 1000 pro sounds a little better IMO and has very respectable output for how small it is.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you so much. Is there a difference in sound between the SB1000 and the SB1000 PRO? Here in Italy the SB1000 costs 499, while the PRO version costs 699. So there is a 200 price difference, curious to know if they sound the same, sound is more important than the app for me.

Thank yo for the explanation!
Great review and information on point as always!
I think it's more the MMS & CMS of the drivers, heavy & stiff drivers will pair better with SPL subwoofers that are generally heavy & stiff.

Sounds like the perfect sub for my small 11x10 PC/gaming room (not my primary music room)
it'll pound hard af in a room that size :)

For a medium L shaped room, with the audio gear in the short end and speakers pointing towards the other wall at 4.5m, combining the sub with Dali Rubicon 2 bookshelfs, which would be the better option:
- SVS SB-1000 Pro for €764
- SVS SB-2000 Pro for €1034
- Arendal 1961 1S for €999
I probably wont be able/allowed to play at high volume, so medium volume performance is most important.
I’ve bought this because of your review, 👍🏽
Good choice!
I may consider 2x SB-1000's, run them in stereo with my coaxial standmount speakers.
I probably won't. Pro Audio subwoofers are all about playing loud so they generally don't have the best extension.
@@NemoPropaganda Alright, Thanks for the info!

A pair of HT1205 is an awesome setup!!
Hi Paul, I'm in the same position as you regarding a demo in WA. I would be interested in knowing what you decided on. Thanks, Gary
@@bancombe1 I ended up going with the B&W 608. I‘ve been really happy with it, it does everything I need of it, and I couldn’t justify the price difference for the other models. Physical dimensions of the 608 was another factor for it being a better option for me.

Great, detailed review. Many thanks from Japan.
aye! thank you bro!
@@NemoPropaganda jajajaja, you are right, we can never stop , but you ,as i know, that the second sub someday will be at home 😂

Quick sq comparison between this and the REL HT1205 for music?
So the 1205 is a little bigger and $300 more money so it's important to remember that. The 1205 took the edge for music. It played quicker and a bit more textured.
Hey Nemo ,thanks for the effort ..you're right the consumer needs to dig a little ...be more aware !
thank you!
Chora 806 is fantastic!! If you ever upgrade to T5X I think you will be very pleased :)
If you look at the picture of the back of the amp on SVS website I think that will answer all your questions. They label everything very nicely.
@NemoPropaganda thanks for the reply. Went with the Svs SB-2000 Pro, got a very good deal.

Never heard the NHT but at that price I'd go for the REL 1003. Yes most sealed subs are more on the SQ side versus their ported counterparts but I don't review large ported theater subwoofers since this channel is for 2ch music :).
When i hear Rel subs i am really enjoying the detailed sound and how clean it is. Did you have this enjoyment with this svs aswell?

@@Anatatto its hard to say bro, I had a PC2000 in an apartment without any problems. I think if you want the PB you should buy the PB, you can always turn it down and still enjoy some nice rumble where as the SB will need to be turned up louder for that rumble effect. Basically what I'm saying is I think you will enjoy the PB more at lower volumes in an apartment.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks!! The same with pb1000pro vs sb2000pro?
@@Anatatto yeah, I feel ported subs generally sound fuller in an apartments when you have to keep the volume down. This is a generilzation of course but I have found it to be true with SVS. Think like this: the larger ported sub is like a car with a big engine, it can drive fast no problem but it can also drive slow and even when driving slow you can feel the effortless power of the big engine. If you feel the PB is too big then go for the SB1000 Pro, it's still a fantastic sub. I think PB1000 Pro is the one for you bro.
Don't worry about where the gain (volume) is set, if you have clean output and sufficient output I don't see a problem.

i was thinking about the heavy cone and how it all relates, force factor(Bl) helps here.

now i am trying something new and have 2.77grams cone weight drivers i need to match with subwoofers, wish me luck?
mmmm I don't think it's that simple but if you're looking for a lightweight and quick sub consider a pair of REL T5X or a single Rythmik F12SE.

Hello, what do you consider a medium sized room? Thank you!
I use the audioholics room size ratings, medium is 1500 to 3000 cuft.
But in terms of use the sb1000pro is the big winner compare to the old one
that is an awesome price!
You mentioned lighter moving mass(like focal) and heavier moving mass speakers. What is the sonic characteristic of each type?
Mixed emotions on this right now 😂
I'm not surprised, the ASW608 is a baby subwoofer. The sense of scale improvement alone that the 2000 pro can offer is worth the upgrade.
my room is around 800 cubic feet, and i have the klipsch r-51pm bookshelf speakers.

How is the high level input quality versus a REL T7X? No preamp outs.

Thanks, ordering one right now 😃👍 Keep it up buddy 😊
@@TheSckanksta awesome bro, happy I could help :)
May I know how this svs 1000 compare to kef kc62?
KC62 is 3x the price. KC62 is much better but only at lower volumes. SB1000 is better at higher volumes.
What is the difference between this and rel ht1205 ? I am interested in clarity and low extension and tonality
Thanks for the good work!

Hi Nemo,
What's your say.?
What is more value for the Money,
Single SVS SB 1000 Pro Sub, or Dual REL T5X Subs.?
I've got Xavian MIA ll Bookshelves @ 4 Ohms.
Atoll IN200 in Bypass mode as my Power amp.
My Hall is Between Small to Medium Seize.
Primary Application is Listening to Stereo Music.
Hi Binu, this should help: ua-cam.com/video/rEz03XkcslI/v-deo.htmlsi=Pm_7Vc5NcOhkVCUK
Hey, do you think this subwoofer would be a good fit for a very small in volume 16 cubic meters room with a slanted ceiling?
that's a pretty small room, this sub should be plenty, you could even go smaller if you wanted to.
This is probably a dumb question, I just bought this sub to replace a polk psw 10 and I'm hoping it's quite a bit louder with more bass
The SB1000 Pro should murder your old sub :)
Very cool and thank you for getting back with me! You really have some good videos, its good to find someone too that knows what there talking about! Thanks!
Would dual SB1000 Pros be sufficient for a small 12x12x9 bedroom that has been turned into a dedicated home theater room ?
what is "enough" is a tough question to answer. I think you're making an excellent choice as that room is not too large and the SB1000 Pro is very compact so it will look and sound very good assuming your listening habits are not extreme.
So according to this can we Mismatch Subwoofer and height speakers? Sample jamo s803 5.0 + SVS SB-1000 PRO + SVS Prime Elevation Speakers?
The SVS gear will perform on a higher level but yes I think those will sound fantastic together!
Tnx for a great review.
2x sb1000pro vs 1x 3000pro for home theater in a 20m2. Any input?
okay so I'm guessing your room is like 12x18ft, can you do 2x PB-1000 Pro? That would be best for theater.
@@NemoPropaganda TNX for your reply and input 👍
@@NemoPropaganda i.imgur.com/Q702Xk4.png thats my room layout.

How would this sub compare against the bowers and wilkimgs asw610 XP ( 500watt)??
@@NemoPropaganda I bought the REL HT 1205 and I am really happy with it. It is fast and articulate bass and not at all boomy, love it.

Considering 2 of these in a 550 square foot room, for music. Seems about right . . . BUT, found a pair of Klipsch R-12SWi Wireless 12" Subwoofers for cheap. Not sure which way to go. Reason for two is bass drops out in some parts of the room.
those klipsch don't seem to extend all that low, I'd pass on them. If you're looking for maximum value buy a pair of RSL Speedwoofer 10s MK2.

For two-channel listening is better SVS SB-2000 PRO or an SB1000 PRO with the option to buy another in the future? is better an SB-2000 PRO or two SB-1000 PRO?
i would rather have two 1000 over one 2000.
Thanks,
Shawn
@@shawnmathew825 Ah I see, I did also crown the Rythmik FVX12 best subwoofer of 2021, that thing is absolutely incredible with respect to both output and sound quality.
Hey, nice video
I wonder If I need a subwoofer or not and if I can add it to my system or not.
What would you say do you think the svs could be worth a try?
I'm going only for a music only system and my listening room is in between medium and smaller size, my amp is the nad c316bee and I bought myself a pair of monitor audio silver 100 7. Generation this Christmas.
the 8" MA driver is good, it extends pretty low, you just need to ask yourself do you want more?
