Similar performance. Perhaps the Monolith has slightly deeper extension. I would really have to push both to their limits. I have a feeling the limits on the Monolith are a bit higher, but only a CEA2010 measurement would confirm that thought. SVS's app and customer bill of rights is another factor to consider also. Because there isn't a new sub available under that price that can do 20 Hz. Budget is a relative term. A $20K car might be considered budget, but still expensive.
I have the PB 1000 Pro and in my opinion, it lacks volume. Even turned all the way up, it lacks low-end punch and power. There is no substitute for sound pressure which can only be obtained with a larger woofer that moves more air.
Nah I'd say the best budget would still be the original 1000 on a sale around the $400 range considering the price on the pro is over double at $899 rn.
I feel like you've reviewed enough speakers and subwoofers now that "Best" is becoming more and more difficult to determine. It's so dependent on the use case and personal preference. You'll get more output and bass extension with the ported PB1000 Pro. The SB1000 Pro is significantly smaller. Both are awesome for what they are. It's more about your room size, distance from the subs, and your personal expectations for how loud you want to play the system.

Love SVS Subs (I have 4 of them) ! But your comment on physics wasn't accurate.. Kef proved that with their micro subs, they dip below 15hz and overall sound great.
@@joentell hi Joe, I understand the limitations of small sub enclosures very well. I only mentioned a recent/competitive sub to the SVS. However, I don't think you either tested, heard or recall the small subs that were trending 10+ years ago from other companies e.g. Sunfire , Earthquake, Def-Tec and Velodyne. I owned a pair of Velodyne mini vee 8"ers and the mini 10". Small, servo, 1000 watt rms, 2000 watts peak, down to 23hz without room gain and they'd still kick half of the 12"+ subs butt out here today. Also the Kef sub I was referring to (my bad) is the Kef - KF92 Sub. Thx 👍🏽
@@ben23a31 Yeah, I remember that old Sunfire True Subwoofer with 3000 watts. I've reviewed the SVS 3000 Micro and I was impressed with it. With enough power and power handling, you can do amazing things with a small sub. It's just much easier to do with a larger sub at a lower cost.
@@ben23a31 You could have mentioned the sub brand that every major film studio in the US use, not to mention Dolby, DTS and THX... M&K Subwoofers... :)
I've reached out to Rhythmik when I first started and they weren't interested at the time. I'm not in a rush to review a ton of subs. They take up a lot of space. How you liking your two 18's?
Haven’t got them yet, they are do in the first of November. Also bought the Monolith 10 on your recommendation, it’s in my office I love it. Currently the SVS 1000’s are in the theatre.
It looks like SVS is really getting subwoofer business from Hsu. Hsu started several years earlier than SVS. Hsu is charging exceedingly more shipping cost than SVS and no free return. One has to really think harder before buying from Hsu, otherwise, paying for shipping and then for return, that will cost more than $200 just for two way shipping. If one is not careful on return time, Hsu will charge %15 restocking fee. That is another big sum to waste.
Base on many user review and comparisons, Hsu subs are more musical than SVS subs at the similar price points. One main difference is that SVS subs have more group delays than Hsu sub, Monolith 12" thx sub is also tested to have less group delay than SVS 12" subs. PB-1000 pro has a -5 dip at 25 Hz also, not as flat as Monolith 12" thx sub.
Just noticed they had a price increase. I'd like to buy 2 SVS PB1000/2000 pros to compare against my Ultimax 12s tuned to 19Hz. But the price is just too far beyond what I feel is justifiable (Only because I'm comfortable with DIY) even to just try out and return. My 12s seem to be flat to 17Hz whereas the PB1000 Pro as you shown is -6dB at 17Hz so for me personally the sub probably isn't up to my standards. Though that isn't me trying to say the subs suck. If they did they wouldn't be a very successful business now would they. (I low key recommend SVS to those that can't do DIY) As a side note. You could probably knock down that bump near it's roll off and then they 17Hz extension looks even better. Though for me I'd still prefer it to be more flat right off the bat. Anyway sorry for the long winded comment. Thanks for the review! (If you keep getting bigger subs to test you'll need to reinforce your house haha)
Based on their performance, I wouldn't say they're overpriced. There are others that may be a better value, but these perform well at their price point IMO. You can also check out the Monolith and RSL offerings. I've been impressed with the products from all of these companies.

I ended up picking up a 10 inch Wharfedale self powered sub for $60, it was hardly used and sounds great
This song has some nice lows. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/S-UJz18stGI/v-deo.html
You would be surprised how better the SVS is over Wharfedale sub. I have there speakers. But SVS Subwoofer is one of the best.
Great review thanks. I think of the old debate SEALED or PORTED ? I like the looks and size of the SVS sealed cabinet you showed, The great divide.
I got the SB 1000 pro first and then the PB a couple days later. The SB was really good, but for $100 more (at the time) the PB 1000 was the one I kept (the advantage of buying from SVS direct is free 45 day returns). I'm not sure if the PB is $200 better with the latest pricing structure though.
@@moniack hey bud, I’ve been in a dilemma on this for a while. And wanted to ask why you kept the pb 1000 pro? I watch movies and play games but also listen to a lot of music. Is the sb 1000 really that much better for music? I am leaning towards the pb 1000 pro but im just thinking of whether or not it wud be the better choice. Please advise on reasons why u kept the pb. I live in indonesia so there’s no return policy here. Greatly appreciated
@@MikeyMoran you can always plug the ports on the PB, change the mode in the app to plugged, and it becomes the SB1000 pro (ask for plugs when you order it, they're free). The PB will have more output due to the ported design which is good for movies. The SB is a nice tidy size, and the PB is quite a bit larger. Either way they're both good, and the app is fantastic. Oh, and since buying the sub I also got the Prime center, ultra bookshelves, and just 2 days ago the satellite speakers.
@@moniack Suweet I was thinking with the app u can probably change the settings… and am asking the indo dealer here if it comes with the plugs for the ports. Thanks for the advice. I feel it’s not that much different and from what I’m seeing can’t go wrong with either sub. The music I listen to is mostly house, rnb hiphop which have a lot of base so I think the pb1000 wud be better for it. Thanks for the recs on the speakers as well
Serious question. How is a sub at 500 bucks a budget sub?
Because there isn't a new sub available under that price that can do 20 Hz. Budget is a relative term. A $20K car might be considered budget, but still expensive.
Fantastic product. I'd use 4 of these in a system without a hesitation =)
Comes down to room size too 🤔
YES!!!! I forgot that one. I'm in a 20x20x9 ft room
@@joentell another excellent review 💃🏻
I have the PB 1000 Pro and in my opinion, it lacks volume. Even turned all the way up, it lacks low-end punch and power. There is no substitute for sound pressure which can only be obtained with a larger woofer that moves more air.
Currently at $800 I don’t think this can be considered a budget woofer anymore. I’m looking at the RSL S10 now.
$400 isn’t budget or cheap. Unless you have a decently large budget. This would be well over $1000 for a simple system.
I get it!
You really have to just decide based on what's "best for Joe, and his use case and preferences". Great Job as usual Joe, and keep winning man! 💯
This is exactly right. I try to qualify as much as possible.
PB 1000 PRO or SB 1000 Pro? Movies and music.
You'll get more output and bass extension with the ported PB1000 Pro. The SB1000 Pro is significantly smaller. Both are awesome for what they are. It's more about your room size, distance from the subs, and your personal expectations for how loud you want to play the system.
Man its $800 now. Over 30% jump
Looks like the price will be increasing to $800 tomorrow.
i was going to buy it for 599 on sunday but decided to read a little more before buying it and now the price of 799. what should i do?
@@carlos_al Amazon still has the PB-1000 (non pro/no dsp app) for $450 and the monolith 10 can be had for $500. Grab one of those before they increase in price also. Or if the DSP app is big deal to you, than just get the SB-1000 pro.
I grabbed dual sb-1000... non pro. definitely happy with them. good 👊, clean, not sloppy. Paired with my prime pinnacles lcr and satellites ina 15x20ft area
Great buy i purchased before that boom svs sb 1000 to for 399
@@yournightmare9999 I grabbed them from the SVS outlet, I think I paid 1K shipped. Price was definitely reasonable for what they are. Not going to lie, the app would have been to nice to have, but I did fine tuning with REW
@@jlg23us For me, setting up by phone is unnecessary and there is no need to pay extra for it because I set the subwoofer once and I do not change the settings every day.
Now $799. WTF????
I was ready to pull the trigger and the price jumps $200. 😧 nooooo.
Great video again joe
I might be weird but I swapped out my sb3000s for dual pb1000 pros and it sound so much better in my room for movies and music I think it more then ported sound I like and that’s my taste in sound but I wanna get a sb3000 again just for a music system. over all shopping for SVS subs is like a kid in a candy store seriously have to all haha. Again keep the videos coming joe 👌🍻
I hear you! 2 or more subs really helps to balance out bass in a room. The SB3000 is a beautiful sub though.
@@joentell Absolutely it is I had dual 3000s and just didn’t sound the same to me like a ported sub and I was coming from a pb3000 before sb3000s then went pb2000 single
Now got dual pb1000 pros and I’m amazed, it’s weird because iv gone down but maybe with less power I’m not canceling each other out in a 4x4m room
@@joentell and also running mini dsp and time a-lined I swear SVS out done themselves with the pb1000 pro has it pretty much easy takes over the old pb2000 none pros
@@mdoh8209 yes, how you integrate subs into your system is in my opinion more important than the raw performance of most subs by themselves.
$1100CAN isn't exactly my idea of "budget". Hell, my Audioengine sub was less than half that and there's lots of cheaper subs than mine
Its $799. What.! Please. I'd buy two RSL speedwoofer 10s.
Unfortunate timing with the SVS price increase going into effect yesterday, HSU VTF-2 mk5 might be the budget king again now.
How big is the HSU? Does it have DSP? Never reviewed one before
@@joentell no DSP, similar size but digs a bit deeper, in room around 15hz around 100dB is typical with that HSU.
SVS starts to roll off around 21hz vs the HSU around 17hz
Comes down to extension(HSU) vs DSP/App(SVS) Mid bass is similiar.
Another competitor is the Outlaw X12, identical performance to the VTF2 MK5 but with better bracing, better amp and a nicer finish(nicest finish of the 3) but it MSRP $675 is hard to swallow, it goes on sale 2-4 times a year around $500-550.
Enthusiast have 3 great options at this price point with SVS/HSU/Outlaw
@@marcgallant5270 I'm always curious how a sub can hit sub 20hz without DSP and still be flat. I'm sure it's possible, but much easier with DSP
@@joentell the old school way, port/box tuning. There's tons of DIY subs with no DSP that can even hit 5-10hz! I'm no expert though but i'm very involved with the subwoofer community on avsforums . Ive read/seen just about every measurement available on most subs, if its been measured chances are I've analyzed it :), at least in the last decade.
SVS price increase goes into effect Monday, October 4th.
Exceeded Joe's expectations in a subwoofer of this price. That is quite a statement. If Joe was a professor getting a B- in his class would mean more than an A+ from any other professor
Haha. I'm not that hard on stuff. 😂 Always look forward to your comment
@@joentell Fresh Hater Jay: JoeNTell is not that hard on stuff. BUT I AM.
Love SVS Subs (I have 4 of them) ! But your comment on physics wasn't accurate.. Kef proved that with their micro subs, they dip below 15hz and overall sound great.
I've reviewed the KEF KC62 and my comment about physics is very accurate. Watch that review and you will understand.
@@Echo-jg8is Indeed lol
Joe, I’m surprised picked the SVS Micro sub over the KEF micro sub. Can you do a head to head?
I think it's a better value. The smaller size of the KEF and build quality are still impressive.
No I don't believe it is. It's a close call, but IMO the title should go to the RSL Speedwoofer 10s
I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.
I have had 2 love them, looking to get two Rhytmik 18’s though. What about a Rhytmik review👀?
I've reached out to Rhythmik when I first started and they weren't interested at the time. I'm not in a rush to review a ton of subs. They take up a lot of space.
How you liking your two 18's?
Haven’t got them yet, they are do in the first of November. Also bought the Monolith 10 on your recommendation, it’s in my office I love it. Currently the SVS 1000’s are in the theatre.
Great review, getting ready get into REW.!
2600 USD?
Thankyou joe
Bruh if a kid drew on my subwoofer, it's gon' be problems
(I low key recommend SVS to those that can't do DIY)
As a side note.
The SB 1000 pro is not bad either.
Thanks!
No way, the Monolith 10 THX is a much better choice.
You're asking me?
Sure
"Budget"?? I find 900 euro not "budget". Ita great but not affordable for many people
I understand. Not cheap I know. But it would be tough to find another sub new that has this level of performance for less with the same features.
@@joentell absolutely true. I have it since a week. Awesome
Yes it is.

its not a buget sub,at least in europe
SVS priced the PB 1000 way to expensive for the SPECS
Based on their performance, I wouldn't say they're overpriced. There are others that may be a better value, but these perform well at their price point IMO. You can also check out the Monolith and RSL offerings. I've been impressed with the products from all of these companies.
