For some of these games you have to fight powerful monsters, previous boss enemies or go through perilous dungeons at the stake of your own life in order to be rewarded with the Hylian Shield...then in others you can buy it in some random shop for 10 bucks
Zelda is genuinely my favorite series, possibly ever. With that being said, a link between worlds is actually such an S tier game, even among the other Zelda games, I could never forget it 😂
fun fact about Twilight Princess: you don't actually need to go into the King Bulblin fight to obtain the shield, you can stop Epona beforehand and get the shield then it absolutely ruins the moment but it's beneficial for preventing your cool Ordon Sheild from burning up
@@r.0xiithe hookshot is in Dampé’s grave as adult. There are three moveable graves in the graveyard, and that one is only there as adult. One of them has a chest with a Hylian Shield and a bombable wall behind said chest that leads to a Fairy Fountain. The other one has a singular ReDead and a chest that appears if you play the Sun’s Song
One thing to shave off a lot of time in SkSw is to do Lanaryu first instead of Faron woods after the second imprisoned fight. Since you can get the song of the hero in any order, you can do Lanaryu first instead and even skip having to do the Imprisoned three times during the boss rush (if I remember the boss rush requirements for the hylian shield correctly) But other wise, great video!
Seriously getting the imprisoned three times in bad luck for that boss rush. I remember playing the og with my dad and begging the game to never give an imprisoned fight lol
Lowkey I kinda like that theres no uses of glitches or the speedrunner strats. Even thought those are absolutely valid ways of playing the games (hell i love watching Botw and Totk speedruns and glitch video's) I perfer the more down to earth vibe of these video's and this channel tbh, similar to your Mario Kart Video's
Yeah, at least it makes it clear why it takes long and would be for the average player. and different people have different ideas of glitches, so sticking to casual runs is a good base metric. It still irritates me that EVERY Tears of the Kingdom Speed run, including "glitchless 100% on the latest version" includes hours of item duping. which to me isn't playing the game.
I think he was avoiding glitches but either way, it takes slightly longer to run to the graveyard and pull the grave and get the shield for free than to just run up hyrule bridge, grab the floating rupees and have about enough to buy it from the store. It'd be close but about the same depending on your rupee collecting.
Technically, the Hylian Shield is in A Link to the Past. It's the first shield you get in the game and official artwork shows it was the inspiration for what would become the Hylian Shield.
Could you make a video where you see how fast someone in the zelda games says the name of the game. For example in OOT princess zelda says ocarina of time
You could have gone straight to the Thunder Dragon in Skyward Sword rather than fighting The Imprisoned a fifth time and doing the whole Water Dragon question
You should take a look at how long it takes to get the mirror shield in Minish Cap. I know it's not the hylian shield, but if you thought it took forever to get the hylian shield in Skyward sword...
The MC Mirror Shield is LITERALLY the last thing you obtain in that game, locked to the "postgame". So, take the average time it takes to just beat MC, and add about 20 minutes.
Ocarina of time actually could have been way quicker, you can immediately get out of the Forrest by using a speedrun trick and then go to Kakariko Village and get the shield at night in the graveyard.
@@JawadKhan-l9e There are other kind of videos he cn make. If he doesn't want to make a "Current State" video, then he shouldn't be forced to make one, he doesn't owe you anything.
You could have gotten the hylian shield much faster in OoT. You could just get one in the graveyard at Kakariko right after you leave the forest. Just move the one grave and it's sitting in a chest.
Yeah, just walk up the bridge and jump to get about 40 rupees. People are forgetting the first time you enter Kakariko village AND the Graveyard, a short cutscene plays displaying the area, and the time it takes to walk all the way through Kakariko village and the graveyard AND pull the gravestone to get it. Whereas the Castle town market doesn't have a cutscene, the path to the area is really short, the rupees you need are on the way, and you can just buy it. The reason people believe the graveyard is faster is because in speedruns, the runners skip buying the shield in favor of going for it in the grave because they have to go to Kakariko village anyway and usually do the bottle quest or get the Sunsong so the grave is right there PLUS you can only open graves when Dampe and the kid isn't around. while you can just beeline to Castle market town as long as it's day time (and if it's night, you're on suboptimal time anyway) XD
Wait, doesn't link already have the Hylian shield in TOTK inn the opening playable cutscene? When you're descending under the castle before it all goes tits up?
No, though you have to factor in collecting rupees to buy it, the distance to Kakariko and Castle town is about the same, but the distance from the entrances to the location of the shield is vastly different. the Graveyard is only faster if you had to go to Kakariko village first anyway, but you have to factor in the time to walk through the village, walk to the grave, the opening cutscenes that display each area (which don't play in Castle town) and the time to pull the grave stone before you can get it. Or you can walk up the bridge chains, jump to collect about 40 rupees, and just get the other 40 needed from the Deku tree or doubling through the rupee route on the way out of Kokiri forest. In theory it's only faster if you have to farm rupees, but I think speedrunners know how to get 80 rupees glitchless, given the guy had 31 and he was playing ultra casually.
@CoralCopperHead Yes. It's even super convenient to get after you get Sun's Song, because the graveyard kid won't let you open graves during the day. I almost never buy the Hylian shield when playing vanilla OOT anymore.
@@person_guy3505 Once you learn of the free Hylian Shield in the Kakariko Graveyard, you never buy one ever again. Not worth the 80 Rupees, when I can just scavenge one for free.
play the game and time it yourself...no you can't.... You can get one for FREE from the graveyard, but if your goal is to get the shield as early as possible, it's way faster (less cutscenes and travel time) to get to castle town. The only reason speedrunners get it from the graveyard instead of buying it is because it's on route where they have to go to Kakariko village anyway, but getting the Hylian shield isn't a priority as a child in any speed run.

thats where u get the clawshot i thought?
