  • Hey everyone tonight we did a little bit of an experiment to see if you really can cook steaks in the airfryer without them coming out dry and tough check out the video to see the outcome
    Enjoy!!!
Directions: preheat the airfryer to 400° put steaks in the basket for 6 minutes at 400° flip over cook another 6 minutes at 400° for medium-rare steaks
For rare steaks, cook about 6 to 8 minutes
Medium steaks should be cooked about 8 to 10 minutes
    Well-done steaks take a good 10 to 12 minutes.

I just tried this out tonight and it was sooooo good! I took one of the tips from the comments, cooked it for 10 min instead then hard sear for a min each side on the pan (0.5 tbsp of oil). It’s so easy and cooked perfectly! No mess and I don’t overcook my steak. And I was able to multitask and cook my sides easily without having to watch the steak. Will definitely be doing this again!

I just bought a air fryer about a week ago. I been cooking all kinds of stuff. I turned some fries into charcoal last night.🤣 That was the first thing I burnt. I made some stuffed red peppers. Those turned out pretty good. Cooking with an air fryer is a little different. I was following the directions on the bag. 400F for 18-20 minutes for a conventional oven. Air fryer must cook alot faster.

I like to under cook in the air fryer and then give it a HARD sear on the cast iron while buttering to finish it off. Makes just about as good of a steak as you can get anywhere.

This comforts me, I feel so sad and be here just to have a remedy like “c’mon air fryer isn’t bad”. My mom just bought a one temp air fryer and she overcooked the shit out of the wings and the steaks. It was like less salty jerky.

If you keep the pan in the fryer while pre heating the steak will have a nice broiled searing on the meat

I have a Philips XXL air fryer. The guide says to cook beef at 400, but when I do it smokes like crazy. I've tried putting a little water in the bottom, but it just makes everything take longer to cook and I worry about the water affecting the heating element. So, I decided that lowering the temperature to 325 accomplishes the same objective and I don't have to worry about water damaging the heating element. Using the $50 grill plate, it takes almost 2 mins longer to cook a ribeye steak, and it seems to cook more evenly. I still get the sear that I'm looking for because of the grill plate and the center of the steak looks perfect. If you're going to be cooking steaks in your Philips air fryer, the grill plate accessory is a must have.

    • @KevinMphotography
      @KevinMphotography 2 роки тому +1

You may have already figured this out, but you can use a high smoke point oil. Avocado oil is good. Also, the temperature of the air fryer is not as important as the internal temperature of the 🥩 . Monitor that.

Always a good idea to pull this type of air fryer a few inches out from the wall when cooking...having it up against the wall while cooking is not a good idea 😳😳there is a lot of heat involved and lot of ventilation that’s needed... even the manufacturers require you to do this...basic air frying 101.

The inside isn't cooked? This sounds like you have a personal preference for extra well-done steaks (which is a travesty in my opinion).
In reality the *only* portion of a steak that needs to get cooked for safety is the outside, since that's the only part that's exposed to bad bacteria. I've been eating steaks that are seared blue (where the inside is essentially raw) for a LONG time with zero ill effects. It's all about personal preference :)
What you've described sounds like shoe leather... the video had the steaks cooked to a medium/medium-well level already.

    • @Dana-jb6ej

They look perfect! Any professional chef would say they should be cooked medium rare so you can taste the actual flavor of the meat. Once you start over cooking the meat and dont see the blood thats when the flavor profile changes. Its definitely a choice of yours to over cook it, but the way she cooked it is perfection!

Cook me a steak as you describe and I'll be - let's go with extremely upset. I prefer mine to look more like the ones in the video (with pepper, please), or a little less done than that even. Certainly not more than that unless it's absolute shoe leather, in which case it's best to just cut thin strips across the grain and hit it with a skillet for a few minutes.

Incorrect, it's 100% grass fed and grass finished.

That may be, but it has zero marbling. And the amount of marbling a steak has determines its grade, ie lots of marbling = prime. @@MelissasKitchenTable

You handled the meat and then put your unwashed hands straight into the salt 😐

You contaminated your salt by touching your meat and sticking your fingers in the salt. 😞

They are different hands. Honestly I dont understand people. If your going to make a rude comment please pay attention. I touch the steaks with my left hand and season with the right hand 🙄

You made a lot of really terrible mistakes for steaks. First, you NEVER salt a steak early. It pulls moisture out of the meat. And you NEVER EVER wrap steaks in papertowels. Also, you mentioned cutting off the fat... NEVER!!! When will people learn that fat is NOT bad for you!!!!???? CARBS are bad for you. Fats are essential to good health.

Not animal fats. Unless you buy grass fed organic, meat in the grocery stores is full of chemicals and hormones. Yes fat is essential to good health, but you want something like avocados, ev olive oil in a salad, eggs...
