As a nurse myself, I was infuriated at how that nurse treated blue eyes and you! That behavior is so beyond unprofessional. She needs to have mandatory intense training on how to interview patients and family, and every interaction between her and patients should be filmed by the hospital from now on.
I’m so glad you are there for him. I never leave a family member alone. They need a voice. You are doing the right thing.
Darlene, PLEASE make a report, no matter how you now feel, especially since you hit the side of your knee. Do not be embarrassed, see one of their company doctors just to have it on record. I worked for a large company and whenever there was an accident, employees or customers, I encouraged them to let us fill out a report. There are so many side effects from such a fall that you won't know it till much later. Promise me you will do it!
Hoping Blue Eyes gets better and that they get a total diagnosis as to what is going on in his body. He's lucky to have you and vise versa.
It's already on my list of things to do. They should have made a report.
@@darlene.michaud From my experience in Admin work, the hospital will not make a report, and they hope that you will not either, because they do not want to be held financially liable. I'm sure that you are on their security footage, but please make a report for issues that may pop-up in the future.
I had to make a complaint on a dr . My mom was a patient and the way that dr spoke to me and my aunt was terrible my aunt got so angry she shook her fist at the dr and said you listen to this . I talked to the head of hospital about what he said to us he spoke to us awful as women. Don’t tolerate this it’s uncalled for their shit stinks like everyone else and they should be professional in talking to patients and family.
More and more people going in to emergency care, are experiencing the same, Bullying and Inpatient attitudes, Nures and Dr's , have dealt with this myself, and filed complaints,
My ??? Is Y, what kind of medical changes have occurred in schools that trun out carry providers like this.????
Yes Darlene report this right away don’t put it off. You are just as important as blue eyes. You will be-sore from the fall take care. You have been through enough

That so called nurse had a lot of balls. He should be complaining about HER. She’s unprofessional and antagonistic. She could have caused him to experience worse symptoms!!!

I finished listening to your video and I couldn't help but chuckle when you talked about falling cause when I do that I just want to get up and get out of the scene. I fell at a nursing home because of the clean floors and the shoes I was wearing, I fell next to a resident in a wheelchair, when I looked up at him he looked at me and said, "you know I can't help you up". I started laughing so hard I about peed my pants. I got out of there as quick as I could get myself to a standing position. Which is a feat in itself. My heart is with you!!!!!!😂😂😂😂
So sorry for all your troubles! That nurse acted outrageously and should be reprimanded. Also, I imagine the hospital is afraid you will sue them for falling…which might not be a bad idea if you start having trouble with that knee. Surely they have cameras covering that hallway. I hope that Blue Eyes and YOU recover quickly! 🌼🌼🌼

Oh no....I am so sorry you guys are having to go through this. A couple years ago, my husband had spent a long time dealing with stomach issues, different aches and pains. And they kept trying to blame it on either GERDS or IBS....and finally a nurse practitioner listened to him and he ended up with triple bypass heart surgery. There was also a blood clot in his heart. I know the struggles with trying to communicate with health "professionals ". So glad you were there to be his advocate. Good luck and speedy recovery Blue Eyes🤕
Same thing happen to me. I was treated for acid reflux for three weeks then they did an EKG and it showed I had a heart attack within the last month. Double bypass and I’m doing great. That was almost ten years ago.
Speedy recovery to blue eyes. Bet that nurse had priors and she knew she pushed some buttons. I had no idea a nurse could file a complaint on a patient that she harassed. Take care of you too Darlene.

Shocked that a nurse would argue with a patient in distress! Thinking the nurse (who sounds burnt out at best) preemptively submitted the complaint. I hope Blue Eyes get another nurse and wishing you both all the best.
This is medicine today. You go in one of those, and you are lucky to get out alive. THEY dictate, not discuss or give a shit what the patient or family says. They even call security and kick family out. Then isolate the patient.

Tomorrow make an appointment with the Director of Nurses and the Administrator, tell them what ocurred and file a written complaint about the Nurse. Also tell them about your fall in the hallway and file an incident report. Neither of these incidents should go undocumented.
They should check his gall bladder. That can mimick those symptoms
He could have a blocked bile duct. My sweetie had the same symptoms multiple times , he also had stents previously . The pain was unbearable….he ended up have the gall bladder removed. Take care of each other.

Omg gall bladder pain is the worst. I've had 5 kids and would gladly go through those labours then 1 more bout of gall bladder pain

Wow! As a nurse in the NHS , your patients safety is paramount. To start getting all high and mighty about your knowledge on a particular illness does not help the patient right in front of you! The best person to know their illness is themselves.

There is in every state a department of licensure, and you can file a formal complaint there. Keep a written record of EVERYTHING and get copies of his medical records for this stay.
Help people ambulatory to potty is a Nursing Tech a.k.a. Certified Nursing Assistant.

I totally get what you're saying Dolores, when you or a family member are in the hospital, you MUST have someone with you. The issue you described feels very much like me with my mom. You are your own best health care provider since you know whats's going on. Staff needs to LISTEN to you and work with you rather than against you. Keep doing what you're you're doing and protect yourself and Joe. All the best to you both...

Unfortunately DKA could cause all the symptoms you mentioned Darlene. We Juvenile diabetics (Type 1) have to be diligent with checking our blood sugars. Everything we eat, especially carbs, turns right to sugar and the peaks and valleys wreaks havoc on our bodies. Prayers for Blue eyes and you too. It's rough

OH WOW. I can only imagine how scared you were when Blue Eyes called and could not tell you where he was. I would have freaked out. Where was the rest of the people he was working with?? Sending hugs and prayers they find out what is going on and he gets better. Then the nurse and they your fall....I am sure you were just ready to get back to the apartment and chill. My daughter is currently a nurse practitioner and was previously an RN in the ICU. She said she has worked with some really horrible, lazy, stupid, irresponsible nurses who had absolutely no business being a nurse. I guess, you can say that about any job…you will have a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly. All that to say, I’m sorry you two have to deal with a knucklehead like this…especially in the midst of a crisis. Maybe she was just having a bad day…but, someone, a supposed caregiver, so quick to file a complaint over this situation, I’m sorry, she just sounds like bad news any way you look at it.

So so sorry for all you’re dealing with! Hope you and Blue Eyes are better today. I learned when each of my parents were hospitalized just how messed up these hospitals can be. I was shocked at some behaviors and felt the hospital literally killed my mother! It’s so important to be right there to be the advocate for your loved one. As I looked back, I wish I had been more brave and challenged them more. It hurts me even thinking about it. I hope Blue Eyes gets the care he needs and deserves.

So sorry hope you get a diagnosis for blue eyes and he feels better quick. Take care of yourself. I was embarrassed recently my heavy coat on the back of my chair at my granddaughters wedding caused the chair to fall back just as I was sitting down. Luckily I had just set my food on the table. I went flat on my butt I didnt know what the heck happened I was embarrassed . I gotta watch my hio and back but I was alright. Hope everything goes okay for you both.

Darlene...this seems to be the NEW way...my 70 husband just had a pacemaker put in here in RI and you are almost repeating our experience...sans report filing. I had to leave him there too but I had planned on staying. The standards have changed completely...i was heart broken for him and now for you and everyone else who has to go thru this... 😢. I missed a month of your content and great hooooglie booglie...its like i missed a year.

Wishing the best for you guys. I have been hospitalized several times this past year. I had some of the absolute best nurses, techs and doctors. It makes me sad to hear that a nurse acted like such a bully. You already feel so vulnerable when you are hospitalized . There's a difference in encouraging a patient to be independent and just not willing to help them. I know after major surgery they told me that I needed to get off the stretcher and walk to my bed. I was like whaaat??? I did it !
