If you have any tips on how to have a more thoughtful experience online, share them here in the comments!
    Just a few notes:
10:04 - AT is also open source, but not as widely supported.
12:50 - If there's enough interest, I will put a part 2 together, and maybe bring them both to video form.

10:14 Threads is implementing ActivityPub very, very, very gradually. It's so broken that it feels as if they are doing it solely for appearances. If Meta makes people believe they are using an open protocol, maybe regulars, like the EU, will not come after them.

@@vladcampos yeah it’s not immediately clear to me what the long-term goal of threads with activity pub is either By competing on an open standard they’ll have a far more difficult time controlling the kingdom.

I doubt that people generally expect a different experience on another platform.
People are hopping on Bluesky specifically as a protest against Musk.

I would agree, there are many people doing that, but I feel like the algorithm has changed a lot on Twitter/X in the past few years. I still use the platform, but it is a very different space. I know I'll be using Bluesky over X just to avoid losing my mind while browsing.

I like the starlo idea, custom domain is a good start, but have you thought about self hosting so people also own their data? I like the direction we go in with decentralised and federated software but from what I have tested so far everything is in such a bad state setting it up takes days just for a basic version.

I really like ghost model, which is, you have the ability to self host if you’d like, or we could host for you (which is where we would derive our profit). I’m not sure if we will follow that exactly, and to be honest right now we are mostly in a holding state while focused elsewhere.

@ sure the hosted version for convenience would be good but I do think there is a place for paid software to selfhost as well. Good luck with your projects

my main switch to bluesky wasn't just strictly because of politics, i just wanted to be able to scroll through my feed and talk about tv shows or movies i like without getting angry trolls all the time on the timeline.

I really like your channel and style of videos. Your content interests me, but I don't know what it is but it looks like your videos are too low of a framerate, the video feels a bit jittery.
Might just be me but if you see this, please adjust your camera settings so your shutter speed is (roughly) double of the frames per seconds you're shooting. And don't shoot anything under 24fps.
I know this is unasked for advice, other than that really loving your channel, best new sub recently

      Hey thanks, I appreciate it!
But also that's unfortunate, definitely welcome the feedback. So I'm streaming into OBS at 24 fps 1/50 shutter. For this video I enabled buffering, and don't think it's dropping frames anymore.
But I did just investigate and turns out the project edit was output in 30fps :( so that's where the issue is coming from.
To keep things fast, I've been using CapCut to edit (I know, I know), but I'll probably be shifting back to DaVinci moving forward which should cover any other weird issues.
Also I watch almost everything at 2x speed, even while editing, so I think I missed it because of that as well.

Question, are you not creating Silos of people with different opinions who don't listen to the other side, remember we all need to get on in this world, if others have a different opinion to you, you need to debate not shy away from it. Also the purpose of Misinformation is to cause division, if you create two different sides who don't talk you create a war.

It’s how the free market works. Let it decide.

@@G0ldfingers that’s a good point, and I agree. In that case, the structure and formality of the debate matters more to me. I’ll happily have a conversation with a person in my personal life, but a an anonymous account on social network often is not prepared for a high-quality debate, and typically argues and insults instead. Not to mention, I believe a person should have the ability to be on social media without having to debate, and instead focus on education or entertainment.

@@JarrenRocks We are all bombarded with information online that forces us to agree / disagree, mainly social media, because it's being done deliberately to change peoples minds another word for it is Propaganda.
But Social Media should have been what you describe, an open honest place to chat to people, maybe a Forum within the platform for those that do want to debate, but allow people to only do so in groups, and pre setup the subject matter, it's better protection for all, and open source Algorithm so everything is clear and transparent for all.
