That's a really interesting way to handle this problem! I never liked the idea of getting a dumb phone, because I see my phone as a multi-purpose tool, that's incredibly useful in many situations. This idea of having a secondary "doom phone" is much more appealing.
This is interesting for sure. I’ve split up my “entertainment time” to an iPad, but still ditched the doom scrolling overall due to it influencing my anxiety. Social media just isn’t good for us, but this workflow you’ve explained may help people overall have a healthier relationship with social. Good video!
@@madebydalton yeah I still get sucked in, and I blame most of it on the slot-wheel style infinite swiping. All the promises of community online seem to be degraded by profit maximization.
I often forget that I have a "doom phone" because it's not around me when I'm feeling distractible. What do you do to prevent yourself from doomscrolling?
@@JarrenRocks I still have social media apps on my main phone, but I disabled or silenced most notifications, I set app timers that prevent me from spending too much time on them, and I removed them from my home screen, so I can only access them from my "all apps" screen (for context, this is on an Android phone), which needs an extra step to open. These things have significantly reduced my time on social media.
Thanks for the great video! This is really inspiring. I’m getting a new phone for my birthday this week, and I’ve decided I’m gonna keep the old one as a doom Phone. This video deserves way more views
I have a samsung phone, I could set up a mode/routine to where it turns on "extra dim" and turn on a color filter when certain apps are open, and then you can put time limits on them. this is also a choice when having 2 phones might be a bit too much or isn't possible.
Yes the automations help a lot too, and I've used only 1 phone up until I started testing this setup recently. You can absolutely make it work, this is just one degree more extreme.
i thought this was about testing a phone to see if it can run DOOM (1997)
@@olivia-rain I thought about making a doom game thumbnail for a second there 😅

Insane video quality. Actually underrated youtuber, waiting here before you blow up
Much appreciated 🙏
I support this! Thank you for this great idea!
I'm 45 seconds into this video and I already know this is an awesome concept! Definitely going to try this!
45 seconds in and I'm disappointed this video is isn't about the video game doom
@NterpriseCEO ha ha seems like you're not the only one 😆
