- In this episode of hog squad I go and target Blue fin tuna and have success. They were a few tuna foamers but not a lot of that kind of action. We mainly marked fish and drifted over them which was actually very successful. There was defiantly some heart break. in the first part of the episode we fish out of Dana Point and catch blue fin tuna and see some yellow fin tuna. In the second part we head out to Catalina island and come across some amazing blue fin fishing with two big hook up. We originally started the day fishing for yellowtail. Overall this was a great episode to film.

Sick!! To bad unguus lost those larger ones. I got an 80lber in on a 40lb set up. Took 4 hours! Lol close in also just 5 to 7 miles out of dana point.
Nice first BFT for your boat!
For those bigger BFT you need to use a 2 speed reel; pumping and pulling makes the hole from the hook bigger and it’s why they can shake the hook off. Using mono as a top shot also helps with pulling hooks, it acts like a rubber band and won’t let them shake the hook off as easy.

I was just at cat yesterday on a priv boat and we weren’t able to hook anything. Do you have any tips for private boaters on targeting bluefin and yellowtail?
For yellowtail Crusie around areas that hold life in 50 60 feet once your mark some good sized fish anchor up and start chumming
Blue fin right now just look around the drop offs on the island
Especially the slide look for birds breezes and foamers and water your finder
