Brother you have built a complete ecosystem in like 5 years or so. I've seen all videos man. Salute to you and still enjoy every new one. And you have started a movement on pond of all sizes. Very educational as well. Keep up the videos nice job.
@sidneyvandykeii3169 you could not touch it again and it will adjust to what it needs, man. It's a complete eco system. Yes it's thriving now with extra help, but the fact is it would probably out live all of us with no help
@roystone5369 But it wouldn't be the same Ecosystem without his support. It 100% will be AN ecosystem, but it wouldn't be this current ecosystem. Don't get me wrong, I love this channel and have watchedcevery video from day one (I've no clue how the algorithm brought me this channel). I was just hoping it would be more selfsustaining.
I absolutely LOVE to watch your video's of your pond. I was in the hospital for 5 weeks with a brain bleed and this new video comforts me to watch. I can't type very good right now. Thank you so much.
Instead of throwing in shiners and such for the bass at the dock, try throwing in bluegill, they’ll likely still target them since they’re conditioned to feed on pretty much anything that hits the water, also could get them to try and feed on the bluegill more on their own.
@@timg2798I’ve watched every video of this pond since day 1, i am aware of that they won’t eat them this is just a proposed option to try and get them to feed on them. It is no secret that for the bass to truly grow they must eat large forage, it costs less energy to eat one big bluegill than 15 shiners. It’s quite common for fish to not move to larger forage even in natural systems as well. I don’t believe the shad are growing to large size either, at least I can’t remember him mentioning it. He has a great opportunity to condition the fish to prey on larger forage through his supplemental dock feeding, and I think it might work.
BamaBass is a joy! This is the second time in the last two weeks that I was in a horrible mood. Fed-up with the whole world. Pressed play on the new video and in less than a half hour I am seeing the positive vibes and feeling them, too. Your videos always leave me in a good state of mind and I THANK YOU with all my heart!
Me as well.. I work very hard and work with many coworkers, it wears me out, but I've found that watching a new episode of BamaBass is like hitting a reset button for me. It makes me feel better and more rested. Thank you again BamaBass!
4:05 I’d say the little heron you’ve spotted is a green heron. It’s a little challenging to see from the distance as it could also be the American bittern. Both share that same stripe pattern on the neck and breast plumage.
For a new project, I'd like to see a trout creek/river running down the edge of the farm fields and into the pond. Something like 10 to 20 ft wide and a couple feet deep. Build some holes and pockets throughout the small river for fish to sit in. Supply water with some high-powered pumps and large tubing from the pond. I'm not sure if it could work, but it would be awesome. It's always great to see your pond thriving! Would love to visit and fish it someday.
@UncleKennysPlace maybe it's possible to plant mature trees on both sides of the system to encourage a cooler micro climate. Might help solve that problem in the long term anyways after the trees are established
can we just appreciate how well you put your videos together and how well organized and thought of everything is? big respect for keeping up with everything it makes it so much more immersive and interesting to watch. never stop❤
Never been one to consistently comment or like videos I enjoy, but this channel has been an absolute favorite of mine for many years now. We appreciate y'all very much!
I watched this project start and am amazed at how great it came out, and continues to mature. The amount of wildlife footage you've captured is beautiful. A true ecosystem in your "backyard", that you created.
Yes, I don't think he should be afraid of the plants that come naturally along the shore. I know he has spent a fortune on it and I love this channel. I watch letsdig youtube channel and he doesn't seem to have this problem with the huge ponds he builds. I wonder if floating lettuce and Iris would help with shade and clarity. They would die off in the first freeze. Maybe the pond guys can help him out with some ideas.
@@chickenhouse5779 Im not criticizing him when I say this, but the formula he is using is exactly what all pond managers follow if you want a lake that is an underwater desert aside from man made structure. We found a guy in FL that is about managing lakes naturally. He does agree with chemical use, but rarely. Its working.
The fish finder says your water temperature is 86 degrees which is way to hot for trout to survive. You should drop a thermometer to the bottom at the deepest part of the pond to see if the temperature is cold enough that some of the trout could theoretically survive there
When I was on holiday in Dominican republic the resort I was staying had a pond full of small fish and there was a few green herons around it... They would come upto you to get a bit of cake or bread and then use that as bait whilst fishing... Was incredible to watch
Ever thought about starting 3 or 4 smallmouth hatchlings in the 300 gallon tank? Theres much less content out there about pet smallies so I’d love to see it done by the best bass father!
instead of throwing golden shiners off the dock to the bass, why don't u try throwing small debilitated bluegill to them and see if thatll jumpstart their feeding on bluegills?
:). Ooops. Looks like fun either way with the drone. And knowing how important that volcano pump is. Perhaps think about getting a second one as a ready to go standby, or even getting it in the pond all ready to go and running it occasionally. Big bluegill, and big turtles, from what they started out as, great views of all the wildlife. Thanks
Since Gus Gus is occupying the squirrel house most the time and eating all those nuts and getting fat, you should put a hamster wheel in there to see if he would use to get some exercise!! That would be fun to watch!
I think you should plant some large trees on a certain side so a lot of the fish can keep cool and the birds have a place to perch next to the pond and make nests.
That bird is an American Bittern. Cool birds. They'll stand in reeds with their beaks pointed to the sky and you'll never see them. They have a pumping sound call. Love your vids.

My 10 acre pond in tn. Used 2000 pounds of fertilizer a year. No aration, bluegill, shiners, and gizzard shad, tilapia would die in winter. Purchased 6 trout every fall. Had top water action,in 46 degree water. Yes, bass eat pellets, had about a dozen 4 pounders eating them. Yes, had the biologist shock the pond every spring , around spawning time. Taking out 125 pounds, this controls the over crowding. Any bass 15 inches, or less would be taken out the rest of the year. Never allow Canadian geese in you pond, or comorons.

I say ours because I’ve been with you since right after you did the backyard pond! Love watching your family and channel grow over the years God bless you and family..
I respect this project endlessly, but you are going about the ecosystem building incorrectly. You should have bass weighing in at 5+ pounds by this point considering the amount of forage and size of the pond. You have stock nearly double or triple the ponds capacity and lowered its ability to hold healthy big bass by stocking a variety of fish like tilapia and trout which reduce the forage amount for the base species.
