As a nonprofessional, I was excited to see you interview Kathy Steele. I became familiar with her work a while ago when seeking answers to my personal experience. There's a huge sigh of inward relief when you discover someone that provides explanations and a path thru some of the more disturbing consequences of C-PTSD. I very much appreciated Deirdre's intelligence and engaging interviewing style. She effectively weaves her own expertise into the questions and broadens the conversation. Thanks for bringing to the fore another important figure.
As someone diagnosed with a dissociative disorder among many others my question to anyone who may know or be familiar with this question as it is quite personal. As a young child and into adult hood I suffered from sleepwalking episodes. Now understanding a little more about dissociative amnesia etc. Could theses episodes have been the fugue state and not sleepwalking. I've injured myself several times in this state and even woke in a mental hospital at least on one occasions not knowing how I got there.
Deirdre Fay seems to have such an astute understanding. Thanks for this interview. Great conversation. I felt like she was elucidating the therapists’ statements which were very interesting. Cathy Steele’s book The Haunted Self, written with two other therapists, is a great map of how to work with trauma. I have used it a lot to help myself.

Is there hope for a loved one who is dissociative?

Loved this conversation! It is ok to go s-l-o-w and proceed with caution!
