    The wild inconsistency on the readings for the Remington from the revolver must have been from muzzle flash and/or unburned powder.

      @grahamohea2424 Рік тому +1

      Would have to agree. In the event of chronograph readings that are way too high or way too low, I would assume chronograph error rather than ammunition inconsistency. A 125gr .357 traveling at over 2000fps from a revolver will have extremely wicked recoil, be excessively loud, and would likely damage the firearm. Since none of those things happened, it is likely that the projectile was not going that fast

    I love the .357 round! My first was a S&W 19 w/6inch barrel back in 1982. Sadly i sold it..but in 1985 i bought a S&W 66-2 snub and then in 1990 i bought a Ruger Blackhawk! Then my latest purchase was a 2018 Ruger Vaquero. Did i say i love the .357 round! 😅

      Thanks for watching Kyle. I have been eyeballing a Vaquero in 357 for some time. Like you, it is one of my favorite calibers.

    First WOW I didn't realize you had to travel over 100 miles to the shooting spot. Mine at the dove field is about 50 one way, but its like they say, "everything is bigger in Texas". I was going to say that the Chrono was picking up muzzle flash or un-burnt powder as it was a little close. If I recall my directions indicated to place it at least 10 yards out. I thought that was a little far, but I understand why now. I see that others have already mentioned this below. I'm looking forward to the 22 ammo testing. I took my Chrono out to the dove field a couple of weeks ago but it had a dead battery so I didn't get to use it. I wanted to do the same, check the velocity of 22lr ammo. Thanks for the video as always!!

      @@Valorius You guys are lucky! My goal is to retire out there at some point, but I still have a ways to go. For now I will need to travel between the City and my escape. It's a nice drive though, through parts of the Texas Hill Country. But if I forget something it has to wait for the next trip.
      I appreciate the advice Cervus. I need to put the chrono a bit further away. I may have to repeat this test. I was going to Chrono some 158 gr 357 loads out of my Henry and now I may have to do the Blackhawk as well.

    Another name for .357 magnum from a lever action rifle is "7.62x39mm" .....Hot underwood or buffalo bore 125gr 357 mag from a 16" lever gun is darn near a ballistic clone of 7.62 Russkie. Good video man.

    Pretty sure your chrono was getting inconsistent results due to the distance from the muzzle. Too close. May want to move it out a few feet.

      I believe you are correct tacman. I'm planning a "Take 2" on this video sometime soon with the chrono further off to avoid any interference from powder or smoke.

    I have the same chronograph and it is 50 fps slower than lab radar . And shooting with most firearms the chronograph needs to be at least 10 feet from the muzzle or it can give erratic reading from muzzle blast .

      I purchased it off of MidwayUSA. It had good reviews and has this model has Bluetooth capability so you can see the results from your phone. Unfortunately I may have had it a little too close for this particular test which is why some of the readings were off.

      @@eld2349 Long story... After 10 rds it stopped feeding rds into chamber. I didn't have a shipping box, had to fork out $60 for a dozen just to get one the right size. Meanwhile due to Rossi's slow communications I mailed it, then I find out that if I'd waited a little they would have paid shipping, (almost $40) but refused to reimburse me. When I got the rifle back it was ALL SCRATCHED up, the lever was loose and the mag tube was loose as heck, won't tighten up and the screw is almost reamed out. I shot it and all ten .357 rds are bulged. Rossi said that's not a problem. I probably forgot something . It's been a while. Over $1000 rifle after tax.

I LOVED my R92 when I first got it, now I don't want to look at it.
