One of the walls in my bedroom has 4 outlets all right beside each other although only one of them is functional also there are tiny smiley face drawn on random parts of the houses ceilings from the previous land lord's kids

That's so interesting about the smiley faces haha, my old house had lots of drawings from the previous owners in the garage. It was so fun trying to piece together a story of who they were

Hey Amity ! I have hEDS, and the thing I found really cool with it it's that I have one of the diagnostic criteria who said "solf velvety skin". I think that's the cutest diagnostic criteria ever haha ! Take care, can't wait to see the shorts series ;)

Wow. Ohh Amity that had to happen to you didn't it. I'm not sure how that tube is put in etc but I know it's a decent thickness, so you would think he would have been able to feel if he had cut it. That's just horrible though. I'm so sorry.
The coolest thing about my city apartment has to be that I'm way up high in the sky 🏙️ ☺️ and the view is insane! It costs an arm and a leg but getting another place is extremely hard right now. Way too many people looking for a cheaper apartment as costs are ridiculous, and no where near enough available for everyone.
Hospital coffee shops are in the same price range here as Airport coffee shops. Australia is expensive full stop but yeah, hospital and airport coffee is way over priced. Though saying that, when you're in hospital, borded out of your brains, something nice like a good coffee makes such a difference.
Much love to you Amity and I really hope the 2 month mark comes soon because I can imagine if my NG started leaking, it would be so annoying/stressful. 💜

Hey lovely 💖 that sounds like a lovely apartment 😍 the tube was cut deliberately so he was well aware he cut it but it was because he had to fit the J extension inside it and it wouldn't fit through the y port end. Once he cut it though he realised he needed to find a way to put it together so he taped it

I had the same long tube put in. I can’t tell if you are having the same challenge with it that I did. The y part kept detaching from the outer g tube and the j tube would slide out of place. Stomach bile would go everywhere all over me. It was awful. And yeah, the solution for me was also duct tape since they could not take it out until it healed. But the duct tape would need to be changed every so often.
It is interesting they were concerned about infection because they said nothing to me about that risk lol

I really hate when doctors make a huge deal and get very dramatic over things that don’t need to be… it isn’t fair to the patients like you cause it freaks you out and makes you think the worst could happen when statistically it’s really not a big deal. Not having a go at you or saying you’re being dramatic etc, I know it’s purely the doctors giving you the incorrect information and that’s not fair to you. I have had a feeding tube for 15 years (I’m only 25 myself and i too live in Australia) and trust me a hold in the G tube or J tube part even isn’t a huge deal. It’s annoying cause it’s tricky to flush and feed without leaking a bit, and I know that’s less then ideal and irritating but not something that would require a flight transfer to another hospital (I’m also a first responder in the medical field so have a unique perspective as a medical profession and also a patients myself), also infections risk real is not a likely thing to happen from a hole in the end of the tube as the tube sits in you digestive tract which is germy and not a sterile place anyway (unlike say a central line, which is how i actually get my nutrition as I’m on home TPN) but hole in a feeding tube is not a big infection risk (even for someone like myself who is prone to GI infections and am on heavy amounts of immuno suppressants it’s not something I’d get overly worried about) so don’t let them scare you with that, they clearly don’t have a great understanding on that sort of thing as your stomach juices are sterile and you eat things that aren’t sterile or Necessarily clean in some situations, so being worried a hole in the tube causing infections is highly unlikely as the stomach has acid and a lot of ways to break down food and it takes a lot of serious bugs to get an Infection there and a hole in the GJ tube is not much of a risk of infection, I think they are mixing up what they are asking about and likely it’s a young doctor who said that to you and they may have been mistaken thinking about a different type of tube, either that or they really just aren’t educated enough when it comes to the use of feeding tubes after the surgery, as surgeons are often giving the wrong info for things like this to patients (I myself had a surgeon once give me information that was incredibly incorrect. So the fact they kept you in hospital for a few days over a small hole in your tube is terrible, this shou,d not have happened. I am very sorry they wasted your time like that keeping you in, scaring you and making such a big deal over not really that nig of a problem. Sure it’s a very annoying problem and irritating cause no one likes stomach juices leaking on them but it’s certainly not an emergency situation or a problem that requires keeping a young otherwise healthy person in hospital for 3 days. It definitely could have been sorted as an outpatient or at least quicker then 3 days. Also flying you would have been such a waste of resources, it’s extr expensive to run those medical flights and if they flew you and another call came in for someone who also needed a flight but for life threatening issues, they would then have been delayed urgent emergency treatment until the flight got back from transferring you. The fact they considered flying you at all is a big worry, I’m glad they ended up changing their mind but it’s definitely a concern they even brought up that as an option for a leaky tube. I am sorry you had to experience the stress of thinking things were really bad and dangerous and I’m sorry the doctors scared you and made you feel like this was a really big deal. That’s not a good way to handle this and it’s not fair to do that to you. If it makes you feel better, situations like this will happen and you will have issues pop up with your tube, it’s just part of the course of having a feeding tube but the large majority of the time it’s something that isn’t a big concern and it’s something that can be dealt with relatively easily. I don’t blame you for this drama at all, you did the right thing going in if you were worried and you followed the right things, it was the doctors that made the mistakes and made some bad decisions by keeping you in for days when it’s an issue that could have been dealt with outpatient. This is how patients develop medical anxiety and anxiety around the tube, but I promise almost all the time it’s something that can be fixed without much drama and there isn’t any point getting stressed out over things like holes in tubes as it’s a problem that isn’t dangerous (just really annoying) and can be fixed. Sorry you experienced this and doctors being dramatic. All the best and I hope things from here are smooth and easy for you. Definitely sending you lots of love and support 😊

Thank you lovely 🥰 that was really helpful to know 💖 the hospital in my area is very inexperienced when it comes to PEGJ tubes as so many nurses and doctors there had never seen one before (The joys of living in regional NSW 🥴) thankfully I am home now and hope that everything settles. Our particular hospital doesn't have the best Trak record of dealing with complex patents and by complex I mean anything that they haven't seen before. Thankfully my main specialists are in Sydney and are a lot more knowledgeable on these things. Much love to you 💖

The coolest thing about where I live is my pet bunny, not many places allow them. So, I saw my therapist a bit ago and they asked how I was doing. I replied; Do you ever get the feeling that when life gets you down, get kicks the sh1t out of you for fun? About sums it up sometimes. Lol. Sounds like your going through another rough patch, but your a resilient one. It’s times like that, that I have to remind myself that just because things are bad now, doesn’t mean they stay that way forever. Big hugs. Feel better.❤
