Its disgusting, taking money from our Pensioners who have worked all their lives and giving billions away. Our people here should matter before dishing money out elsewhere. Susanna did a good interview.
The economics are straightforward when you study economics: illegal immigration results in migrant labor that stimulates the economy. The war in Ukraine represents a strategic initiative to thwart Russian control over gas and other natural resources, particularly in the resource-abundant Eastern Ukraine, extending into the next century. A necessary defense budget supports these efforts. The increase in salaries for MPs is intended to attract and retain talent in the political arena. A study of economics makes the underlying motives clear. Nonetheless, it is unacceptable to impose hardships on the less fortunate, including the poor, disabled, and elderly, while he thrives on donations and profits from overpriced speeches and book deals, akin to the situation with Boris Johnson, which are essentially payoffs from those who gain from these actions.
Migration both legal and illegal costs the taxpayer just 0.31% per year of the 1,200bn spend. If all migration was "sorted" right now - 0.31% would make absolutely zero difference to your life. That is the equivalent of just £6.20 per month if you earn £2000 a month.

I am sick and tired of hearing about the blackhole and that the fuel allowance was a hard decision ,both are lies, Half of the blackhole was for the massive pay rises for the £65 k/yr train drivers etc, and the other half is the projects the Tories did not put money aside which will not get done anyway.

And now they take more out of the system than they ever put in. While also getting a triple lock. It’s time we invest in our future generations. Pensioners have had it good. So good that future generations will never get the same opportunities.
Isn't it interesting though, how nobody ever says the vast majority of pensioners are living in fully paid off houses? Their overall living expense is considerably lower than literally everybody else. Look, us working folk are now paying over a quarter of our income on taxes. Then the other half of the pie goes on rent/mortgage repayments. Leaving us with a quarter of our income to simultaneously invest in a secure future and put food on the table now. And no, avocado on toast and Netflix is not equivalent to the hundreds of pounds lost in real terms pay cuts, with wages not keeping up with inflation. Meanwhile, your generation has come up in a time of excess, where getting a house was equivalent to two years' pay (it's about 20 now) and a simple job was enough to provide for a family. We're not in that world anymore. Yes you've been paying into the system all your life, but it got you security and certainty and safety. We are paying in now, but the difference is - it isn't getting us those things. Do you have a point is that nobody is complaining about wealthy pensioners having the winter fuel payment taken away from them but they’ve gone about it the whole wrong way. They have all but admitted the fact that they did no risk assessment on this whatsoever. The money they think they are saving from this is going to go straight back to the NHS when all of these pensioners are literally a penny or two above the pension credit threshold that will lose their WFP will probably end up in hospital with cold related ailments and costly NHS more than what they would’ve saved? If they have just done this properly and use their brains before they acted, then they would’ve got a lot more support. If I was to make a suggestion on how to do it, I would raise the threshold on pension credit to make sure that those who really did need it will be eligible to receive it and then have the means testing in so that the Winterfield payments are taken away from those you don’t need it next year. At least then it gives the government a chance to make sure that they can get it right because that way in the long-term they’re so far more than what they will do now?

Denmark here, I wonder where the UK £22 billion budget deficit this year is coming from ?, when "tiny" Denmark has seen an increasing government budget surplus in the range of around $9bn to $18 billion a year since 2021, despite a huge increase in military spending's and the several $ billions worth of military aid for Ukraine. The main difference between Denmark and the UK I can see, is how Denmark has approached the issue about illegal immigrants and refugees the past decade. The leadership in the UK, right or left and elsewhere have so far been pretending that there is little they can do about refugees and immigrants, as if they are fighting a hopeless battle against the EU and the rest of the world, and like it's a "law of nature", but if we look closer at Denmark, that totally changed it's stand on this issue due to the Danish Muhammed cartoon riots of 2006 in the Middle East, with burning Danish flags and embassies and following terror attacks, that was the eye-opener that changed everything in Danish politics. Today, there are only 14 asylum camps in total in Denmark, while the number was as high as 98 in 2015 less than 10 years ago. Right now, there are around 2,600 people accommodated in the Danish asylum camps, out of these 450 are staying in one of the deportation camps, and 700 are Ukrainians of which some are passing quickly through the system. These numbers are surprisingly low when considering that 25,000 arrive every month in neighboring Germany these days, not to forget what is going on in France and the UK, and despite the external pressure from neighboring countries and the UN and EU. Denmark have also not accepted their absolute UN "mandatory" share of minimum of 500 resettlement refugees per year since 2015. So during the last 7 years, only 235 quota refugees have arrived in total, coming from refugee camps in Rwanda and only 1 resettlement refugee was granted a permit in 2023.
Perhaps I should add that in Denmark both the far-left and far-right are almost nonexistent because the Social Democrats (equivalent to the UK Labour) are tough on immigration, not least from the Middle East, just as there is now double up on the penalty for doing crime and gang violence in ghettos and mandatory Kindergartens in ghettos for small children so they get to learn the Danish language and culture, and cutting social benefits if their immigrant parents do no comply. It's kind of crazy that there can be so much of a gap and difference between the media and old Socialist parties in Denmark, in compare with especially neighboring countries like Sweden + the UK, though Sweden are now finally, but slowly, adopting all the Danish immigration laws one by one and the UK and elsewhere eventually will be forced to do the same, no matter who are in charge.

immigration > blank check
Ukraine war > blank check
Defense budget > blank check
Mp raise/expenses for homes > blank check
Absolutely spot on
Defence is the only one that SHOULD be a blank cheque. All theothers I totally agree.

No it’s not 😡 the pensioners have paid all their lives into the system. I can’t believe this man is our Prime Minister
We assume this, but many haven't worked a day in their life and rely on the government for every inch of their survival.
That's why they have their triple lock protected pensions.
Also, let us not forget that that 27% of pensioners have an overall asset base of over £1m, and they are by far the wealthiest demographic.
Stopping a non-means tested payment to people who, by and large, don't need it is absolutely the right thing to do.
As is setting up an inquiry into the scandal of PPE contracts worth billions being fraudulently handed out to their mates by the previous government.
So what if you have to spend a little more now, it's just brings you ever so slightly closer to the breadline the rest of us have been precariously balancing on all our working lives. Cry me a river. You'll be fine in your fully paid off house and booked cruise trip next summer. The last 14 years of Tory rule have been giving to pensioners and taking from workers, because they knew it would get them votes.

If they also remove the 25 per cent sole occupancy council tax allowance that's my state pension increase gone in one fell swoop.
Plus I as many others are just a few pounds above being able to claim pension credit
Heartbreaking fir all the pensioners whi will have a miserable winter shivering under blankets in an ice cold home. And probably restricted in suitable food choices to keep them healthy.
They''ll still get the payment then., they can earn up to £512/week and get the payment.
No social responsibility to its own citizens. They shouldn't be able to enforce it ! Attacking the vulnerable says all about these risable people .
What a tool this guy is, hes ok with pensioners freezing but spends millions on feeding and keeping the ILLEGAL immigrant's nice and warm, and sending OUR money abroad
My mum taught me to get up from my seat when shaking hands with anybody, male or female. My Dad was an engineer, not a tool maker and he worked hard to bring home the bacon.
Sadly it appears old fashioned values like, manners and looking after the elderly; some of the poorest in society, are not present in the current, hopefully soon to be ex prime minister
It can be difficultto stand up in a studio situation when you are wired up for sound.
Honestly, I have to smile - at your arrogance and at your conceit. Your entire comment could be translated as "I think I'm wonderful because I lack the imagination to understand that, just because I was brought up to believe certain things, it doesn't follow that those things are true, necessary, or desirable."
@@tommymorrison6478 It's you who are lacking in imagination if you can't see the desirability of social grace and manners.

So would I.

22 billion is nothing compared to the the amount this government will waste over the years. Worse PM in the history of the Labour Party.

He prefers to put boat people in 5* accommodation at taxpayers expense.
What do you expect they will be voting for him next time, if you can’t get the indigenous population to vote for you just ship in those who will.
😮 Our pension is not a gift from the government , it's the return of the weekly /monthly loans we have made them over the course of our working lives !
you could not be more wrong. Your pension contributions paid directly the pensioners receiving money at the time you were working. Your pension is funded directly by the NI contributions of those in work now. It is called a "pay as you Go" system which is economically illiterate. Sensible countries like Singapore and HK have national provident funds where Pension contributions are invested to generate a return to pay the pensions on retirement. however when LLoyd George set up the first state pension back in the day, pensioners were not expected to live much beyond 67, so the 2 years of pension payments were not seen as a huge cost. We are all now suffering from that original decision.

Why has Starmer not added a few pence in taxes, on the most wealthiest of people in Britain, to pay for the shortfall, instead of penalising the most vulnerable in British society.
Because he is one of those people, and full of GREED
Most pensioners will be dead by the time inflation stabilises. He needs to make a public apology to scared and frightened pensioners.
that might be the plan
I don't think that's by accident. On average the elderly voters don't vote Labour. They also receive pensions and receive NHS treatment. They also are in housing which he wishes to give to the thousands waiting to get on the ladder. It's not lost on me. Horrible man
