I once worked on a woodshop that was part of an architecture school. We had to build these all the time for displaying models during reviews. My boss at the time would mess with professors by throwing in a block of wood before gluing a base on. Then any time the professors moved them around they would rattle 😂
The way you take extra care to get all the lines to meet up perfectly is just awesome. Still my favorite artist in this medium. Nice voiceover on this one, but I miss a good Woooooo! Thanks for sharing!
It looks much smaller in the thumbnail. That's really awesome looking. I didn't understand the book-matching at first, but that totally made it. Well done. It's worth every penny.
Nice work. Just a plea/safety suggestion, get serious about dust protection.. you're doing more than an occasional bit of woodwork, so you really need to be wearing a proper dust mask and extraction. Your lungs are not indestructible - and the dust will be harming you. Not worth being casual about - it's an awful way to end up having lungs that are f**ked from industrial/work dust exposure.
@@1235bmu Wow, that must be one fantastic vacuum to be able to capture 100% of the fine particulate matter created by sanding, thereby leaving 0% to be inhaled. Where can I get my hands on one like that so I can stop wearing those pesky masks?
I’ve been a highly detail oriented cabinet maker/ millworker most of my life. Great stuff and your client got a very good deal for such a laborious piece of work.
You should look into composite brad nails to prevent having to cut the metal and creating sparks. A lot of makers use them to pin down sheets of plywood for cnc.
Nicely done! I made one of these to take to a gallery for one of my sculptures. Mine was just boring white 😂. One suggestion if you make another is to put some simple 90 deg braces recessed slightly from the bottom and add adjustable feet to them. It works similar to your rubber feet, but is very nice when you the floor isn’t perfectly level.
That looks amazing. Killer job getting all of the strips to line up across the top and down the sides. So cool. I don't know how you see the end pattern in your head to know what to do with each of the strips and get the consistent result.
If you find yourself doing allot of the brad nailing and gluing small pieces like this. You might want to get one of the plastic brad nailers for securing stuff for CNCs. Makes it less risky if a nail head goes wild on you during sanding.
It’s stunning!!! As always, all your builds are beautiful and unique! Hope you never stop building and filming with these awesome 🛹 skateboard recycles
This reminds me of an item in the game warframe. There is a joke item called "pedestal prime". It has a joke description that includes: "This is the plinth that all others aspire to be. This is Pedestal Prime." I think we have a new pedestal prime. That thing is beautiful.
Awesome project. I noticed you had some little like one inch cutoffs when you cut them the strips to length. Just wondering if you toss those tiny pieces or use them for something else? I would be happy to pay you for them if you don't use them. Thanks.
Just watched the whole video with my jaw on the floor!!! You sir are the artist, and who the hell would "recycle" a skateboard? I skated till it was kindling
A plinth is also the lower slab or a column in Greek architecture. I think your plinth is gorgeous. And I do not believe you charged enough. How many hours did it take you?
When I saw the preview pic, I thought the box was going to be solid. Essentially four laminated triangular prisms. How you actually made it is way more impressive. Also a lot lighter in weight. I would have added blocks in the bottiom corners and put the rubber feet on those so they are hidden, so the box appears to float off the floor.
I was wondering how you would avoid all those pin nails when you were cutting it on the tablesaw. Ouch. Do they have composite nails in the size you are using?
You did not get “Baltic birch” plywood from Home Depot. They do not sell Baltic Birch” They sell “Birch” plywood, but is no way near the quality of true Baltic Birch.
Superb piece of work, but I'm struggling with the idea that there are so many used skateboard decks lying around that this is even feasible! Admittedly, I live in a rural part of the UK, but are people really still skating that much that used decks are available in quantity?
This plinth is the art! It doesn't need anything on top.
What a beautiful pattern, very nice… you have a brilliant eye for detail.

That’s hilarious! Good harmless fun.

with the eye you have for design, I can imagine you absolutely loving the intricate design that goes into quilting too.

you are aware the sander is plugged into a vacuum tho right? on top of that a lot of the wood you work with isnt as dangerous as people think.
Amen. Protect those meat balloons. You only get one set.
As a former certified safety specialist,if you can smell or taste it then it is getting into your system.

@@1235bmuthat’s dumb lol
Amazing job. I'm an artist on the west coast and out here we call these pedestals but a plinth is the same thing.
Your attention to detail is unmatched, impressive work once again!
This might be the most beautiful box I’ve ever seen
I love the lack of music in this video. Great voiceover too
Woby design with another high quality project, always killin it with the details
Yup, no clue what a plinth was, now I do, and that thing is GORGEOUS!
I work in food & product photgraphy where plinths are used quite frequently.
Love your work!!

Came here to suggest the same!

Now I wish I needed a plinth, because that one is so fun to look at!

Had no clue what a plinth was, but I like this. It could stand on its own.
$2500......Not bad for a skateboard box....A fuggin SICK skateboard box🤘🤘
WHOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!
Nice project and the results are fantastic.👍
Please use a mask at all times.
Cheers!
That plinth is giving off 'Interstellar' vibes for me. 👌 Good luck to whatever's going on top of this epic work of art. 😀👍
absolutely gnarly design!!!
This turned out great!
It’s art man, priceless.

Job well done. Flowless.
Really cool!
Nice work. Any update of the handrail of your stairs? ;-)
Beautiful! I wish I had the money to buy it…
Man, those decks have so much life left in em ! I wish I could afford to toss my skateboards away all willy nilly too!
What dude no wooooss in this video?? 😮😮 Looked wicked though must say. A did no what a plynth was wish could get $2500 for one. Thats mental. 🏴👍
Awesome work as always but missed your signature : "Wooooooooh"
Just missing a slap and woooo! 👏👏🔥🔥
Another informative and entertaining video 👍🏾
Just watched the whole video with my jaw on the floor!!! You sir are the artist, and who the hell would "recycle" a skateboard? I skated till it was kindling
Kids traded in their boards for tablets and phones 🤷♂️
Bravo Bravo Standing Ovation
Beautiful peace
Plinth sounds like something from "Hunger Games "
dude, that's sick
Excellent plinth. You’re killing it all the time, I’d be really surprised if you didn’t continue to do well with it.
A plinth is also the lower slab or a column in Greek architecture. I think your plinth is gorgeous. And I do not believe you charged enough. How many hours did it take you?
I love to see your videos 🎉

Dammit man I love your work!!!

I would really like to see what the client is displaying on this plinth.
Beautiful!
Birch faced ply from HD is NOT Baltic birch plywood. Not at all the same product at all third the cost.
Perfection. 🎉
hope the art is good because if the plinth takes center stage then youve kinda messed up! haha, thats awesome!
You did not get “Baltic birch” plywood from Home Depot. They do not sell Baltic Birch” They sell “Birch” plywood, but is no way near the quality of true Baltic Birch.
That's awesome
fantastic video as always. Did you get a new microphone? things sound different in this video. great either way!
very very nice!
I play D&D. I absolutely know what a plinth is. I've stol-ahem.....acquired many unique artifacts from them.
I was about to get the festool track saw, but Dewalt makes a cordless one?!
It's awesome
Amazing
Getting patterns in wood to line up like that can be a pain sometimes....this turned out awesome! Great work!
That's cool. Great job. However, I'd have put blocks inside just to give it some more strength.
Bad ass. Let me ask how much does the Rubio monocoat smell???
wooooooh! (had to be said) 😉
no way whatever goes on top will be cooler than this is
Could have put blocks on the inside of the box for extra strength
Duuude. I’m mezmorizes ❤
where is the shout..? WOOOOHHH !! :)
Plinth count, 1046
So good! is it real??
Superb piece of work, but I'm struggling with the idea that there are so many used skateboard decks lying around that this is even feasible! Admittedly, I live in a rural part of the UK, but are people really still skating that much that used decks are available in quantity?
+1 box of like
pretty
i dont understand how you can get them to align perfectly when I literally saw you ripping them at an angle on the tablesaw lol
Hey my guy can you get boards already made like that instead of getting skateboards
That sort of defeats the purpose of recycling skateboards that would go to landfill
