Thanks to Britton Timbers for supplying the White Oak - brittontimbers.com.au/
Made From White Oak, this low lying entertainment unit was designed for a client that has specific size requirements, not only for the room itself but also for the equipment that will sit in this unit.
The techniques shown in this build can be utilised in a number of different ways for a number of different pieces of furniture or other woodworking projects.
This is a new style of video that I’m trying out so please let me know what you think about the voiceover. If you do like this style of video and would like to see more, I have around 13 voiceover videos on my Patreon as well as a new video released every month where I go into detail about what I’ve learnt in my 20 years in the industry, but if you don’t want to sign up that’s not problem at all, I’m of course going to continue to release videos here on UA-cam, but I’d love it if you considered subscribing. Thanks

What do you think of the Voiceover style video?
Awesome build. Thank you. Personally, I prefer non-narated videos ( with proper machine sound volume editing) because with good edits like your video, I have enough experience to make sense of your build rationale, such as knowing the best bit to use would be a down cut spiral. But either way, nicely done. Fine craftsmanship. Perhaps a hybrid approach, short intro narration with the rest just shop sound?
I'm with Garth on this. The narration is nice, and I imagine people who don't do woodworking at all might possibly prefer the continuous discussion of what's happening, but I personally enjoy the lack of narration and to just watch you work. Your videos aren't full build videos so there's inherently going to be information missing if someone with no experience were to attempt it. I don't know many people with experience that would attempt some of your pieces. But maybe as he mentioned, a hybrid model. Chime in on the sections of a build that are highly unique or especially difficult for some reason and discuss how you solve the problem. Then return to footage. Either way, your pieces are some of the best I've seen on the platform so whatever you choose, I'll watch it.
@@garthwebster6433 Thanks for the comment Garth
@@mdaddyw_1323 Great feedback, thank you
It's a win just like this piece!
Absolutely love this voiceover style. I spend most of my mornings on UA-cam, but it's not often I get to watch new videos, especially not on Sunday. I really love how this turned out. My wife has a cheap black desk at the moment, but someday it'll be satin black ebony oak like this. Your designs have always inspired me. We never put the brown plastic door pulls on our TV stand, I think I might paint them bronze now and see how they look. Hope you have a good week.
Thanks for watching
Stop wasting most of your mornings on youtube
The highlights are fantastic, your craftsmanship is outstanding, and I do appreciate the voice overs, guiding us through what you’re doing. Keep up the fantastic work!
Amazing work !!
And that brass inlay at the end lifted the quality/value of this piece 10 folds !
Well done ! 👍
Love this build. I'm a wood hobbyist and I find your work inspiring. I watch all of your videos, I particularly liked the voiceover rigth through the sequence. It felt like a conversation.
WOW, this is beautiful, and love the voiceover! Your attention to detail is what makes your furniture the best!
Mate! I am just speechless every time I see one of your completed builds, they’re just beautiful. And it’s so humbling and inspiring to hear that you started out of a garage as that’s where me and my wife’s company is right now, our single garage. Also loved the voiceover style video too dude 🤙🏻
Nick, love the voice over. Helps to follow your build process. Please continue with this process. Beautiful piece as usual.
Now that's a record player stand!
Timeless piece. Beautifully executed.
The Voiceover style works! Absolutely love this build! The Brass and the stain go great together!
You’re craftsmanship, personality, and approach to life is so inspiring. I’m so glad I found your channel.
Man....whatever you build is out of this world, out of ordinary 100%. I love watching all your videos start to finish. You are one of the reasons I'm getting back into the woodworking after a 15 years pause. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thats awesome man! All the best!
Another masterpiece and master class Nick...many thanks. And the voice-over is just right to guide us through your creative process. Adding the brass "rays of light and sound" (as I see them) does take it to the next level and keeping them proud of the surface adds visual elements. I'm a fan of inlays too from a cherry top coffee table I did with small black smooth river stones inlaid to an electric guitar I made with silver wire becoming a dividing line between a dark stain side to light. Thx again...
Thanks for the comment John
It's funny what you said about the difficulties of having a voice in a world full of amazing makers, cause for me you are one of those top talented people I watch online that continuously makes me question and raise the bar for my own designs.. amazing work as always!
Thank you Renaud. I think its important to always question and raise the bar. If not we will never get better at what we do.
Your last video just popped up in my recommendations. The flowing loops and swirls of your design are stunningly beautiful. I designed a similar piece for a large stained glass transom window I built years ago, it was one of my favorites. Your bench is one of the most incredible pieces of furniture I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see what you do to out do yourself! Your work is truly amazing.
You've always stood apart in the woodworking community and I'm thrilled that you're teaching us your process now. Thank you.
Thank you Luke
Loved the voiceover and the piece! Simple, elegant and beautiful!
Love this style of video! Love hearing your process and thoughts as you work through the build!
amazing built! the contrast between the inlays and the stain is just amazing
also love the detailed voiceover!
Appreciate your willingness to spend time talking about your thought process! I'm most inspired by your pieces as they always bring something new to the table.
Thank You
Absolutely stunning it looked great before the stain and inlays and now just brilliant. Really like the voice over as well. Keep the videos coming 👍
A nice simple basic build...Love it! Voice over was also well done.
Thanks
Simple, basic?
Watching this again for the design. I particularly liked the running miters around the overlay doors. The clients may swoon over the brass inlay, but it's the joinery details that make me want to come back! And the voice over is great. A little less "mysterious" than earlier videos without narration, but very helpful. Thanks again!
Honestly, I LOVED the fact that your videos were only tool noises. Those channels are few and far between, so it’s a treat when I discover one. To me, it’s part of what made your channel unique. I don’t mind a little bit of talking, but the channels that voiceover the whole video are wearisome to listen to.
Really loved hearing your voice man. As always, setting the bar incredibly high with your attention to detail and the care you put into every aspect- from design and execution to finish and production.
Beautiful piece! and we shouldn’t feel sheepish when we make boxes, but deeply relate to your sentiment of wanting to out make the last build. Keep doing you!
Cheers man, I like hearing your voice too 😂
@@pedullastudio hahaha okay yeah, I might have said that weird now reading it on the receiving end 😂
That’s not weird, we’re just a couple of guys that like hearing about wood… ok maybe that was weird.
@@pedullastudio 😆 since some people like us talking and some don’t, is the proper compromise to whisper about our wood? Shit. Maybe Marc’s been onto this the whole time 🤯
This conversation is amazingly adorable. A little Nick on Nick action. Joking aside, if the two Nick’s ever came together to make a piece of furniture…🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🫠.
Nick,
Love the new voice over style! And don’t worry about upsetting people with “different” techniques. Creativity comes from within one person; just because another person may think differently, doesn’t mean either person is wrong. Continue doing what YOU do and we’ll all be here to support you.
As an avid UA-cam watcher in this wood working industry, inspiration comes to me through your builds as well as your thought process. So being able to enjoy your style as well as learning your thought process is definitely something I look forward to in future videos as well.
You can’t make everyone equality happy: You may call a black bird a raven, and half the world may tell you you’re wrong and to call it a crow. If you start calling it a crow then the other half will tell you to call it raven. You can’t make everyone happy, but if you call it a chicken, you can make everyone equally unhappy. So continue letting your inner chicken shine and we’ll happily enjoy the golden eggs you bring us here on UA-cam.
Happy New Year from Florida
Thanks Hunter!
Once again, stunning work! I appreciate you sharing your process and have to say, watching you apply the black stain over the routed areas on the panels was the most calming and satisfying aspect of this build from my perspective. The voiceover style was a nice style shift as well.
Nick, this piece, like all your pieces, is a work of art. I enjoy hearing your views and approach on your thought patterns, even when they involves switching gears mid-motion. Exceptional...
The photography in the end always gets me in these vids, which is an art in itself. Love that red light at the back fading into the black wall, it silhouettes the piece really well
Dito!
Thanks for the compliment, and for hanging round till the end
Excellent video, love the voiceover and insight into design process!
me too.
I very much appreciate both styles of your work, Voice Over aids to clarify some items for people I think more accurately.
Honestly think your work is fantastic, helps me to be a better woodworker which is much apprciated.
Voiceover is great! Love this timeless piece! Thank you for showing us this beautiful piece!
As always, top shelf design and build. I love the voiceover because of what you have to say in terms of woodworking philosophy and the thought process in the design. Too many furniture makers on UA-cam dedicate their voiceovers to the mechanics… “So then I set the dado blade to be the exact thickness of the material”… maybe for some newer to the craft that kind of tutorial is important, so it does have it’s place. I’m not criticizing that at all. But, for me I suppose, the ‘why’ is more important than the ‘how’. You’re really striking the perfect balance on this one.
Thank you!
New subscriber! This is a stunning piece! Thanks for sharing your amazing talents! The voice-over is definitely a must.
Thanks Carl!
Beautiful work, also I love the new voiceover and humour style, works really well. Thanks for making and sharing your work
I love this piece. The brass is a beautiful accent. I use a lot of white oak and agree that the black accentuates the grain. I made my son's crib from solid white oak and sprayed black poly and the grain still beams in the light. Your channel is very inspiring to other makers. And a yes for me for the voiceover videos. Helps understand your mindset even more.
Beautiful piece as always. Love the brass inlay with the ebony stain!
Thank you
Ook is NOT ebony.
10:46 can we just take a minute to marvel at the voodoo here that allowed you to stain the surface of those doors without any drippage into your groves?
Loving your latest piece and as divisive as black stain can be, this is a fantastic application of the stain with those brass accents.
Believe it or not a standard kitchen sponge has turned out to be the neatest way to apply stain.
Absolutely beautiful piece of work. Turning it black and adding the inlay, so awesome…🎉🎉🎉
“Wow” would be a gross understatement. The beauty of this piece is truly stunning. 👍
Blackening white oak is defeintly the one time it's okay to stain wood! White oak is a litttle to expensive for me but I've found that Ash is a pretty good substitute and you get to see all the cool highlights with the black finish.
Also really like the voice over style, I like hearing why you made certain decision during the project.
Thanks
I love the voice-over style of video. I like to hear your process because it helps me to learn the "why" and not just the "how".
Absolutely INCREDIBLE piece!! I clearly can see why you’ve got happy customers!
Staining it made me cry a little and yell "noooooo". Until I saw it with the brass. Then I knew why you are the artist. Wow.
I loved hearing the narration-as someone who is new to woodworking, I really appreciate hearing the rationale behind design decisions.
Good things take time. One of the reasons that woodworking attracted me is the romance, the time, the design, and naturally the wood. Sadly in our needed it yesterday world many customers do not understand. Being Scottish, the pace that was Scotland up until the internet age resembled the 19th Century. I ordered a kilt in 1996 and it took three months to get it to me. Many people just don't get it, but it is a craft " when properly done" like ours. I see more and more people turning away from the pre-made junk that is knock down furniture and MDF covered with vinyl wrap. There is hope, and your customers are proof of that. Keep up the good work my friend.
It looks freaking amazing! well done and congrats on the design and execution.
Wow! Just wow! The ebony and brass really work! Another awesome piece from Pedulla Studios
Posting your videos here with full narration is great. I consider you a true master, and knowing what you are thinking while you go through the process is priceless.
Thanks
Unreal, Im a huge advocate for brass and any earthy tone that compliments furniture/instruments.
The voiceover style is great, also staining white oak black is the what I did on my first piece ever, I love it. I used iron acetate, but I’m going to buy some fiddes.
My God Nick,
That is amazing!!!
With regards to voiceover, it is a resounding yes from me.
Your craft speaks for itself but it is made much better by hearing your thought process and reasoning.
Keep up the great work
Looking forward to seeing more very soon
Gerard (from England)
Great job as always and the voice over is a great addition. keep making more video's love your work.
Love the voiceover style.
The finished piece is exquisite
I particularly enjoyed the voiceover, as it is what I tend to gravitate towards with wood working videos. I am new to your channel and subscribed immediately after this build because of the voice commentary, which contained humour as well as instructional content for the wood working and the design processes. I didn't hurt that the end product was unique and stunning.
That finish is gorgeous. Lovely piece of furniture youve made!
Beautiful build as always, also couldn't help but notice the In Rainbows vinyl! Thank you for inspiring me to pursue woodworking! Also, the voiceover style was a very nice addition.
My number 1 favorite woodworking channel. I want the shop so bad, lol! The tools are just *chef's kiss*! Love the new style of video. Great work! Beautiful piece as always.
I love the piece and the voiceover. Hearing your insight is amazing!
I’ve watched most of your videos. Your builds are amazing, this one included. And yes I enjoy the voiceover style more.
Love the voiceover style. Hope to hear you in future videos as this was very helpful. The build was fantastic and inspiring as usual.
Loved every part of this. Especially the voiceover.. You NAILED the brief!! 😍
Woodworking is like a meditation.... it's a beautiful time to be mindful and take in the entire process🙏🏻💜🇨🇦
Wow another absolutely stunning and beautiful piece of artwork you are a true craftsman can’t wait to see what you do next
Beautiful! Top notch design and workmanship!
It's the first time that I have watched you, I am very impressed. The joinery is well thought out and really well done, and the brass inlay is an inspirational. Having not seen you before, for me your voice over is again well done. Thank you for a great vidio.
That turned out really nicely!! The pro's can take a simple project to the next level.
I would definitely call this a one-of-a-kind, outside the box, show-stopper, sexy, functional piece. Inlay work is always so satisfying and that ebony dye is super clean👌🏼. Another inspiring BANGER Nick! 🤙🏼
The narration and creativity are a “step above” for sure.
Love the voice over!! The black stain and hard wax finish is breathtaking ❤❤
The Stain is incredible! Fabulous design and always impeccable craftsmanship. Thank you!
Thanks for watching
BIG +1 to the narration! Well done, Nick!
Thank you
What can I say....your craftsmanship is on point and attention to detail with creativity design. I want one👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👊🏽
Stunning - as usual. It IS amazing how the right, if simple, embellishments can dramatically change a piece - before the black, grills, and brass inlays it was as you stated, just a basic cabinet.
KUDOS!!
Now to find my Patreon pwd!!!
Love this build and love the voiceover style. Truly inspirational yet again 👏👏
Thanks
Nick, I'm new to woodworking and am still honing my craft and finding my niche. I subscribed a while back and only just got into your channel, and I'm kicking myself for not committing sooner. Incredible work! Functional and unique pieces of furniture, but also works of art! Well done!
Love the brass inlays. Absolutely made it all POP ❤
Voiceover is fine. I mostly love the silent beauty of your art taking form. 🤷🏼♀️
My mouth is dry from my jaw being on the floor for 13 minutes. As inspiring and stunning as it is to watch your work be made, it does make me a little sad when I think about where I am with my own work. Wish I would have started doing this so much earlier.
Truly beautiful work my friend. Cheers
Thanks Vance. The fact that you're doing it at all is the important thing. Keep going
I can only hope to be this good. Ever. But it sure is inspirational to watch a true craftsman create. It makes me want to approach my own projects with more care and attention. Your miters make mine look like cursors. 😎
Wow. This is stunning work, Nick. The brass is a superb addition and although I’m not always a fan of stained oak, when it’s done right, it can look great, to which this one is definitely one of my favourites. That grain just pops! As you say, its simple, but sometimes simple can be what’s needed, especially when it’s done to the exacting standards of your creations. You’re a bloody inspiration mate, and I’m really happy that your channel keeps going from strength to strength. I for one really enjoyed this video format too. Keep up the great work and all the best from the UK.
Thanks for the comment Chris
Brilliant Nick. Love these videos. Very inspiring and will definitely give your inlay idea a run in my next piece. Thanks.
Voiceover and all aspects of the build were spot on. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching
I prefer natural wood color myself, but this piece turned out beautiful. Job well done!
Thanks for your generous narration, Nick.
I suspect most of your audience clearly understands that adding narration to your always visually excellent videos adds a great deal of work for you, and I'm sure they appreciate it as much as I do. And I especially appreciate your remarking that down-cut spiral router bits leave a clean upper edge when cutting from above a surface-that now-obvious fact had escaped me, and I'm going to make use of it right away.
Thanks for the comment Lew
Simply a stunning piece of both form and function. Your balance of show and tell is just right at least for me as a retired scientist with a passion for woodworking or "Making Things" for that matter. Greetings from USA
Thank you
Voice over was great. It adds more depth and understanding to what you are doing.
😊
OMG, just beautiful. Well done!!
God lord this is a stunning piece. I got goosebumps. So elegant, not to much or little, just perfect. You are my favorite wood worker of all time and you inspire me so much in my own wood working.
Thanks so much Erik
Once again Nick you've created a masterpiece. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Amazing work, love the voiceover work, and I didn't think I'd like the black finish but man does it give it some pop. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous piece! I liked hearing your thoughts on the design and build process!
Wow, amazing work. I am blown away with this channel.
Very beautiful piece of furniture, the accents on the panels give an art deco feeling.
Man all I can say is Wow , love your work and detail , liked and subscribed , will be binge watching your other videos mate , great job . 👍
I love the Voiceover…..Your a great instructor, designer and craftsman.
No words, just stunning and beautiful.
Excellent video! Gorgeous product, yet intimidating. Thank you
This is an epic build. Love the format.
Stunning Cabinet!!! Love the voice over style!
Would love to see some more of this style. It feels like an old pice fitted in to modern times. Love it!
