You may well be right - there have been some changes to those turrets over the years (if you look at the really old in-game shots, the guns look MASSIVE compared to how they are now). Either way, the turrets are likely going to deal big damage to anything slow enough to get caught in them!

Half of my org mates own some kind of very large capital ship. I decided to invest in collecting servicing and resource gathering ships so as to have resources to repair those capital ships.
I was in a air fight with some players and a large group jumped straight into our Space, It obviously surprised both parties involved but nothing will ever compare to the first time I saw this Colossal Ship jump in, It became clear that these two large groups were gonna be fighting and right we were. You won't realize how small ships are to this thing until you see it's guns fire, by then there's no way to beat it.
Hey, is there or will there be an option to assign chosen friends to take controle of the Ship while you are afk? Just so it doesnt despawn or smth. It would be a nice feature for large corporation to use it as a base of operation. I am new to Star Citizen and I still have to learn a lot.
Originally they were designed to go together, I'm just not as sure whether that will remain so after both ships are fleshed out - time will tell, I suppose!

@@Farrister Done! But I only work with goods from New Babbage! It's freezing temperatures will keep the food for longer. Also Bud's Growery on Euterpe (he sells cheap booze😁)
I don't know if I'd say disturbing. I count 5 turrets underneath (plus the big turret at the back, which probably isn't one you'd use for small targets lol), so there's firepower under there, with size 7 weapons. But I can imagine players swapping those out for maybe some ballistic gatling, or maybe flak or explosive rounds (yes please CIG!)? That said, it's notably weaker underneath than up top, and I think that's probably a gameplay design choice, rather than an Aegis Dynamics design choice. I still think and hope, this will be a tough nut to crack
@@Farrister what i mean is: the size 7's on top have the size 3 ballistic gatlings on top of the turrets. But i dont see any on the bottom at all. Only the size 7 lasers. Even though it's so cool and sexy like the Idris, again I just don't fee like having to deal with that much crew, I feel like the Polaris (which is where I drew the line for myself, nothing bigger) can give me 95% of the javelin experience.
I think the Hammerhead is probably a better comparator, since both ships seem to be mostly turrets :D but for me, the appeal of the Javelin is the huge crew count - a big crew all on one ship is kinda exciting!
I draw the line at the Perseus. Small enough to Solo with 2 blades slaving the remote turrets to the pilot and 2 NPC crew acting as engineer/support. Or take out the blades and stuff a snub fighter or two in the vehicle bay and you can also play with a larger group of friends. The polaris is large enough that it requires that group of friends without offering a path for solo play as well.
@@DrewTeter Yea the only reason I got the line is there is because that's where I'm at after the honeymoon phase with the game and buying stuff on the greymarket, they're ccu'd. If I hadn't done that I'd probably limited myself to like a 325a and andromeda lol.
the funny thing is that if you buy the ship for real money you get it without weapons. that's what CIG said when the ship was first introduced. you have to do a few missions first to earn the weapons and then you have the right to buy the weapons. that will make so many people angry who have forgotten that XD
Selling the most powerful military ship breaks the game, so they use this trick. Eventually if they want to balance the game, they will release a Batleship-class but that will be non-player, otherwise they aren't going to be able to make the 'system' to enforce order when it's necessary.
A Squadron 42 ship, meaning it will get LOTS of attention. While it costs $2700 - $3000..it will go up once in game AND probably has so many hundreds of many hours in it to build the asset, maybe tens of thousands of dollars in man hours to make.
what i dont understand about the naming of these spaceships is the ship classes used, a destroyer is the smallest kind of ship in a fleet, so this gigantic 480 meter javelin destroyer is only the smallest ship in the fleet? and then a friggatte is smaller than a real life friggatte, which was supposed to be a bit smaller than a battleship like a battlecruiser? most of these naming conventions do not make any sense at all. it seems like the name destroyer is just used because it sounds cool more than anything.
SC Looks super cool, but i'll never understand why ships are being designed for multi crew groups instead of everyone getting their own. What in the world will 80 people do on that thing other than man turrets and pilot?
I think the 80 would be for NPCs, which includes crew rotation. There are 13 manned turrets, 2 remote turrets, potentially a torpedo gunner, pilot, captain to co-ordinate things, and maybe engineers to optimise and fix damage. I can see there being roles for 20 players, all working together
This is, IF it is ever released as a flyable, playable ship in Star Citizen (as opposed to whatever use it has in Squadron 42) a Teir 1 Org Ship, which even under NPC control can and does offer a playground for a lot of different game play scenarios and situations. This is what needs to be understood, because what this ship is NOT is a vessel for solo ownership (unless as a kudos trophy if you can afford it's Real Money price, whatever that will be) and solo operation.
It would be great if CIG implemented some real use cases for self-contained explorer and base ships. Like some planet systems and areas that take hours of real time to get to and that have no space stations or infrastructure. Because now, despite the scale of the game, you are always 2 mins away from a space station or major city. And no, it will not change much with Pyro) Maybe instead of 2 mins it will be 5 min there. Nowhere near to justify the existence of autonomous base ships.
And what exactly makes you say that it won't be different once Pyro comes out? There's already been talk of reducing quantum fuel tank sizes, which would make it so you'd need to hop from station to station for smaller ships. Pyro is also known to be several orders of magnitude larger than Stanton, which means a much larger distance between celestial bodies, not a mere 5 minutes. Also, Pyro is an outlaw system, so even if there are plenty of stations to refuel at (Which I doubt), you would run the risk of running into pirates.
@@FormerBunsenBurner several orders of magnitude is 100 or 1,000. Pyro is only 3 times bigger than Stanton. Why do I think Pyro will be the same? Because of 100+ ship CIG has, only 4 or 5 are self-sufficient exploration vessels. You really think that CIG will make Pyro unplayable for 99% of the players who don't have such ships? Of course they won't. Pyro will be accessible and playable to anyone with a starter ship. And it won't be more dangerous than Grimhex is currently. Probably, there will be more hostile NPCs and there won't be as many shops. By landing pads, refueling stations and outposts will definitely be all over the system.

@@Farrister well, firstly, SC lore doesn't matter much now, they can resize the system depending on their technical needs.
