Fun fact - A Notable Artefact after the Lamenters' part in the Badab War, their chapter banner was a tattered remnant. When they were granted the Emperor's forgiveness, the banner was given to the Orders Pronatus of the Adepta Sororitas to be repaired and purified. Their handiwork was said to be inspired by the Emperor, and that they wept as they wove, contemplating the Emperor's great sacrifice for humanity. The banner became known as the Banner of Tears and was taken with the Lamenters on their penitent crusade. 🤗
40:39 All space marines have this ability via an organ called the omophagea, or remembrancer that is implanted in them. This allows them to access memories of any creature they eat. The Dragonspears, a Salamanders successor chapter, have a ritual where they eat the flesh of fallen brothers so that their memories and legacy are preserved within the marines that live on.
The Blood Angels and their successor chapters fall victim to the Black Rage. Wherein they lose their sanity, forced to witness the death of their Primarch. The final tarot card he laid’s description sounds an awful lot like Sanguineous.
Btw, a quick clarification, what the Lamenter is experiencing is the Red thirst, not the Black rage. While his frenzy may initially seem like he succumbed to the black rage, but here are some signs that tells you it’s the blood thirst: - Bloody tears - descriptions focusing on his fangs - Retention of some of his consciousness as he can still talk and stay still for a period of time - and most glaringly of all: THE CANNIBALISM As for twentytwohya: - The red thirst is a gene flaw that was already in the blood angel’s legion long before they met Sanguinius, and will only happen temporarily. This gene flaw was mitigated after meeting Sanguinius and being in his Primarch presence (mostly). This all ended, of course, after his death and the flaw started to show up again. - The Black Rage started almost exactly the moment Sanguinis died, and this is a PERMANENT state (except for a very few key Blood Angel individuals). Unlike the red thirst, the main sign is their uncontrollable rage and desire to kill every thing around them as the blood angel sees them as Horus. There’s also no way to reason with as their consciousness is probably gone by that point (kudos to the Death Company Chaplains because idek how they managed to keep their brothers in check xD). Great video and reaction btw! Love all of your warhammer vids! My shock is almost the same as yours because this is also the first time I’ve hread of this story and also I genuinely though “oh, Lamenters, this story’s going to be pretty sad” haha.
Might I suggest Blood Reckoning, also from Vox in the Void, for a reaction. Another Blood Angel's successor chapter. Beautiful and tragic the way the sons of Sanguinius often are.
Hi Hya, I want to let you know that you missed one of Warrior Tier’s videos on Lamenters. It’s very sad to watch and listen but I hope you can find it enjoyable too! Love from Australia 🇦🇺
I was under the assumption that the Lamenters were one of the few chapters immune to all the negative effects of their Gene-Seed. Hence why they were cursed with poor luck. It must just be the red thirst as apposed to the black rage.
A member of Kill Team Talon and Interred in a Dreadnought, Chyron avoided the ultimate fate of the Lamenters due to being on assignment to the Deathwatch. He believes himself to be the last surviving member of the Chapter.
if u want to learn more on how an Astarties is made theres a book called Sons of Dorn which goes in to detail on how boys are turned into space marines. Also goes into the culture of the Imperial Fists chapter.
I'm ao happy that you finaly watched this one. I knew that this one would be special, all of the emotions on this story are so visceral, the sadness, the fear, the pure anger. In the end i still don't know if the black legionare was trying to save his teammates from a horrifying death or if was trying to save himself. But yeah, the black rage is a thing of nightmare. When you stop without knowing what even to say you know that this was a good one. My recomedations for the next story are: All the gods are dead, Blood Reckoning (Also about the blood angels), Field Test and Fangs Out.
Don't Go is an amazing Lamenters story, as well as one of the most heart-wrenching. Hope to see you and others react to it someday so we can cry together lol.
like clockwork she asks a question in the video and the video a few moments later answers it. It could be the rage but even the thirst could do this. the thirst was so bad if they could not be calmed down Sanguinius himself would have to put them down, and he cried when he had to. But this is post death so it is probably the rage.
Since u are a Destiny Fan Have u seen the Destiny 2 Fan cinematic „Dynasty“ from MyNameisByf Its about Oryx and his sisters, the worm gods and the Book of Sorrows
The Betcher's Gland is one of the earlier implants given to an Astartes, if memory serves; it's installed in the mouth as a matched pair of organs, spliced into the saliva glands. It allows a marine to make their saliva acidic in controlled doses. Normally, they use it to help them break down inorganic material into something their bodies can use for fuel, but they can also concentrate the effect via meditation, and use the acid to either melt through their bonds if captured, or as a last ditch weapon. Interestingly, all Astartes have the gland, but not all of them still work properly. Some chapters, most notably the Imperial Fists and their descendents, have a glitch in their gene-seed that stops the Betcher's from properly activating. Installed at about the same time in the process of making a marine, they also have an organ (called the omniphagea, I think... could be wrong) that lets them absorb ingrained memories from organic tissue. GW put maybe too much thought into designing their super-soldiers, I think 😆
Long time viewer first time commenter. Love the content and i hope you are doing better after everything. If you are wanting to learn of the space marine process, its different with each chapter. Majorkill has a couple quick videos on it, Weshammer has one as well, luetin09 has a video made about a year ago that details the overall process, and Adeptus Ridiculous has a video that goes over some of the specifics of the bigger more popular chapters.
@TwentyTwoHya... WesHammer has a pretty good video that covers the anatomy of a space marine. There are others, I believe Lutein and Arch have also covered that topic as well but, that's the first one that comes to mind.

You’ve heard of the Betchers gland before, it is something all space marines have. The ability to spit Acid poison.

Damn the black rage is one hell of a drug
"Angels of Death" does a great job of showing what it's like
Ahhh the classic im not the one trapped here with you, you're trapped here with me

Quite a lot of 40k short stories have endings that remind me of the quote "that went south so fast!" from A Million Ways To Die In The West.
I like how in most vox stories the incompetent idiot who dies is slaaneshy, black legioner , and drukhari
And yes, all Space marines can gain knowledge by eating organic life. That not only includes sentient beings but also animals.
Another good one!
Damn, sons of Sanguineous are scary.
Luetin has a very good vid about space marine creation
That's how you know a story is great. When it just sucks you into its world and makes you forget to speak!
11:30 its either an acid spit gland or the gland that allows you to gain someone's memories by eating they're brain.....😅

They seemed immune for a while….

You should watch Wizards and Warriors series on the house heresy. It's very good and goes into depth in some of the lore and battles.
