Mabel Albertson, again in the role of a disapproving, snobby, meddling mother, trying to protect her son from the evil advances of any given female. Mabel also played Darrin's mother on Bewitched. Classic. "Frank, I have a sick headache."
She also appeared as a good mother in lots of shows like Those Whiting Girls.
She was the sister of Jack Albertson from "Chico and the Man".

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the producers of "Friends" had this show in mind when they cast Marlo Thomas as Rachel Green/Jennifer Aniston's mother. Of course, Marlo was able to recruit Jennifer for at least one St. Jude's PSA.

Did you notice that there isn't a chain on the door. You have to remember those days It was safer eve in New York. Just like on All in the Family all they had was a chain on the door. Usually they have extra locks on there doors.

It is unnerving to hear Anne say "come in", whenever there is a buzz or a knock at her door, without asking who it is. In New York??!!? Maybe it was safer back in those days.
It was safe back then- Neighbors also were very friendly and helpful. That all changed post late 60’s.

They were not in their 70s. The actors playing Ann’s parents and Don’s father were all in their 50s. Mabel Albertson, playing Don’s mother, was a little older. She was in her 60s.
People matured faster and looked older back then than now. They were probably in their 50s. The looking forever young culture is fairly new
Ann had a stylish pop influenced wardrobe+ flipped hair, very youthful while the conservative fashions and dated hair styles aged the parents.
