"Their (orcas) Upthrow is second to none in terms of damage, and gives the victim plenty of time to contemplate their poor character choice" is one of the greatest descriptions I've ever heard!
Easily the "big boi", one time multiple entire packs of like 70 orcas tried to hunt down a lone, young whale that was like less than half the size of an adult, it took over 3 hours for them to take it down.
BIG point to make! 4:30 It is still unclear, but there is very strong evidence to suggest that baleen players did not in fact, give up on echolocation, but managed to altered the ability: Losing the ability to make ultrasounds meant of course they can no longer use the echolocation abilityi to accurately pin point prey in front of them... but it may be possible for them to use infrasounds to echolocate on great distances, meaning while they lose precision the sound (especially ebing underwater) travels much farther and allows them to create mental maps of the territory around them for miles, and even detect current/temperature changes in the water where prey may gather. Sadly, the baleen guild is super secretive about their tactics and this is all not confirmed yet...
Even in my stories, which involve a lot of marine mammals, very few can communicate with huge whales due to the mostly low frequencies they use (we only hear their songs)
Odoacer, most of the drownings involved one notorious orca player, Tilikum, whose griefing of human players has begun deterring human players from keeping orcas in small game maps.
The fact that a orca baited a bird into taking the small fish as bate, and then devouring the bird is actually extremely impressive for an animal. Think about how insanely intelligent that is , there are humans who wouldn’t come up with that idea
Okay, I'm pretty salty about Sperm Whales being A-Tier. Sperm Whales exclusively go hunting for the highest level invertebrate builds, exclusively going for hard matchups because they are just too powerful for other players. They have an 80 year playtime, the largest brain in the history of the game (which, while not scaling directly with intelligence, is a factor to consider), echolocation that simply destroys the opposition with the spermaceti organ delivering the second (or third if you count pistol shrimp) loudest sound, and a track record of actually taking on human vehicles and winning! A single Sperm Whale player can easily destroy any other player in the ocean servers in a 1v1, and pods are even more op. The only reason the Killer Whale gets more attention is because Sperm Whale players spend so much time in the deep sea meta, where, oh yeah, they're the deepest diving mammal builds possible. Sperm Whales are the LARGEST MACROPREDATOR BUILD EVER MADE, outweighing even the banned Megalodon build. These are quite possibly the most powerful non-human players in the game, but since they have a goofy name and spend all of their time in deep sea servers, nobody pays them any attention.
I'd argue that narwhals should be lower, maybe C tier, due to one fatal flaw: Narwhals' heart rates slow down when they get scared instead of speeding up like most players, and their heart rate is abnormally low to begin with. They can be killed by the frightened debuff
Can you make a parasite tier list? Specifically ones with complex life cycles, multiple hosts, brainwashing etc? I think that would be pretty gnarly. Thanks!
I agree, these stat pages should really have a perception stat. Differences in perception abilities come up in these videos at least as often as stealth.
Something I really respect about both humans and orca players is how they have an unwritten rule about never targeting each other. They almost never deliberately attack each other with most incidents being misunderstands that are immediacy rectified once players realize what's going on. Orcas and humans will even group up to take on larger cetaceans. The orca players will herd the larger cetaceans for the humans and in return, the human gives the orca items harvested from the hunted whale that are worthless to humans but vital to orcas (like tongue meet). Granted this amazing relationships didn't always exist. During the early days of the game, humans used to be really afraid of the Killer Whales player-base having seen footage of them attacking other animals. This led to some wild rumors on human message boards that Killer Whales were man eaters. As a result, humans kept their distance and never most never interacted with Orca players. But it really was a problem based in a lack of communication. Once human players actually started spending time with and talking to orca players (around the 1960's patch) they realized there was nothing to fear and it forged one of the most amicable relationships between different player bases in the entire game! The two groups realized they had so much in common and both players bases are always overjoyed when they have random encounters. In fact, some humans like these random encounters so much that they actually began to hack the game to interact with orcas more. A few rogue guilds (the most famous being known as "Seaworld") actually figured out how to remove Orcas mains from their aquatic biomes and place them on land. But doing so is hacking and really harmful to the Ocra player' experiences as land does not provide the necessary stat boosters. Some Orca mains even feel like they are being griefed and lash out against the humans players. But luckily, these rogue guilds are few and far between and an internal reporting system amongst humans has caused such guild die out. For the vast majority of natural and random encounters, humans and orcas get along famously. And as a dedicated human player, I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm sure my fellow orca payers feel the same way!
> This led to some wild rumors on human message boards that Killer Whales were man eaters. I've been playing this since alpha (Steam says I have roughly 4,543 × 10^9 years of playtime) and I've seen the first meetings of Orcas and Humans players, which was wild. It is kind of funny how they were always good with each other, except for some human players killing the black'n'white bois for loot, but then in one minor patch there was a translation error for human players in their Spanish and English tooltips that made "whale killer" become "killer whale". I don't really know why the devs never patched that back to the original "whale killer" but maybe they just like humans being a tiny bit afraid of "that mean dolphin class"? Anyway, I was playing and chilling in the sea server close to the coasts of Chile and Peru and Orca players there were literally wiggling and wobbling human players sea vehicles (fishing ships smaller than their biggest trawlers) until the human players shared some of their items with the Orca players and threw some of their fish loot into the ocean for the Orca players to take. Funny how the Orca players figured out that as long as they don't go overboard with annoying the #1 in all lists, they can still make that playerbase drop loot just to not be in danger or stop being annoyed. lol Keep playing guys, it's really fun now (although I think the path the devs went on is a bit weird and offputting, we'll see how much longer I'll stick to this game). Sincerely, a Turritopsis Dohrnii player

random fact: hairless cats are not scared of water, this is because they have no fur to get wet so they don't get very cold, they can just let it drip off or roll around, if a cat with fur got wet the hair would be soaked and it would have to wait a very long time of being soaked and cold to dry.
Next to the orca? The ORCA? At least they don't play catch with their still-alive victims. Seriously, orca and dolphins are terrible--dolphins have even been know to sexually harrass humans. honestly, he's probably working on it, but not super actively. Probably doing easier projects in the mean time. Like, you only get one shot at making an original video, so when he covers Eusocial insects he probably wants to make sure he gets it just right.
The problem with that one would the the fact there is so much we don't know about most specis of bees. Honey bees, yeah sure, we know a good deal about. But other species of bees there isn't much active information on, which is actually a major problem in conservation and ecology due to the fact that introduced honeybees can often have major negative impacts on native bee species performance and habitat selection. Further, a large portion of bee species are not eusocial, but tend to be "solitary", or at the very least non-hive forming. Still there are a few cool and unique eusocial bees that aren't honeybees. For example, the Australian Stingless Bee forms unique and complex hive structures using differential shapes and compartments, all made from a mixture of wax and tree resin. Seriously, I highly recommend googling images of their hives.

I also have not heard about any builds that can communicate naturally over hundreds of kilometers.

It's what orcas do to great white sharks that really shows how dickish - and formidable - orcas are.
Ty Lee is proud
@AxentiumZ Considering how rapey they are - yeah
some on Photoshop a Naruto headband on a dolphin right now or i will.
As an orca player myself, I can confirm you speak the truth
Funny how the Orca players figured out that as long as they don't go overboard with annoying the #1 in all lists, they can still make that playerbase drop loot just to not be in danger or stop being annoyed. lol
Keep playing guys, it's really fun now (although I think the path the devs went on is a bit weird and offputting, we'll see how much longer I'll stick to this game).
Sincerely,
a Turritopsis Dohrnii player
dolphins however, have zero morality and love to grief humans. more human players need to be aware that dolphin players actually pose a bigger threat to them than sharks
@@refragerator Orcas and dolphins have really high charisma, on par with seals, to go along with their best-in-server (aquatic) intelligence, and that goes a long way when dealing with human mains.

Just wanna say your channel sparked a very big interest in biology for me. Since I discovered it a couple months back I've watched douzens of documentaries and hundreds of videos. So thank ya buddy. Great vids
That's pretty cool, what part of biology is most interesting to you?

Was really hoping you'd bring up that a common prey for Orcas is MOOSE
Moose, Meese.
Goose, Geese.
Oh yeah, can't they dive for up to 30 minutes for sea/riverbed foliage?
I’m sorry, but eh???
@@Violaphobia Moose carcases wash off to sea

HA NOPEEEE
Maybe you 2 could collab on a "Car Tier List?"

Evolution: Gives fish feet to live outside the water
Cetacean: Goes back to the water
Evolution: Am I a joke to you?
aaaand now they cant over take humans
Seems like cetaceans are closely related to cats!
I never would have guessed by just looking at them, but this "I want in, but now I want out" mentality is astonishingly similar. Can't be a coincidence!
Some Lizards did that too
Cetaceans: *¡¡¡MY GOALS ARE BEYOND YOUR UNDERSTENDING!!!*
OrionTheWildHunt had they stayed on land, they would not even get close to overtaking humans but as it is, they are the most dominant build in the aquatic biome
Orcas can divert the course of ships and humans acidify the ocean you know classic pranks
Finally someone gets the damn quote right
I guess humans "pranked" the entire planet then
i just love the way you take it as a game and you speak is literally to calmly and the video is good itself. i just love these videos

Potential prey that are well hidden: "I'm in danger"

man this made me die of layghter
I wish Orca’s discussion was longer..my favorite animal
They're my favorite ocean going animal and in my top 5 overall (a list otherwise dominated by cute fuzzy animals). I find their complex hunting strategies so fascinating.
I mean, they're by far the most talked about build on this channel, even moreso than humans.
The only build capable of human-tier bm, of course they're great lol
There are different types of orcas, I live in Washington and the sound has the last of the this certain orcas in the world, there are 74 left and they are slowly starving to death one by one. It’s terrible
Mine too
Great White Shark: I am the alpha predator of the ocean
Orca: u wot mate
Lmao can't stop imagining them just teaming up and throwing sharks up in the air
@@usagi2934 They actually team up and flip Great Whites over, causing tonic immobility. They then calmly drown it and just chomp on the liver. Talk about an HP boost.
Lol part of the reason the megalodon went extinct was because the orca showed up
@@CampingCohns They basically eat just the liver and leave the rest of the carcass...Talk about picky eaters.

Why have 1 giant beast when you can have a beast half its size that comes in a group of like 20?
Can you please make a video on the cave meta? It's really interesting, and I think it'd make a great video.
Blue whales: I'll be big
Orcas:lmao let's body the biggest build
okay but playing a crab and hearing that echolocation warning noise would be absolutely terrifying, 0/10 would not recommend crab builds
Unless you go with Crab cheerleader build a.k.a Crab Rave
What about the king crab? Cannibalism is a pretty useful perk to invest in (IMO)!
It's the crab equivalent of hearing a Stuka at Dunkirk.

Equivalent of hearing it's high noon while out in the open
I was used to play in the South American server and I've heard stories about some boto players that hacked the game and changed their class to human every full moon and then back to boto just so they could chat with human girls
Yeah, a lot of people used to do that in the early alpha versions of the game. It was at that time when the devs also played alongside most of the players, though they did a lot of dumb stuff. I mean, the dev with the Zeus username literally banged everything he could, sometimes shaped as an animal, which pissed off a lot of people, as you can imagine.

Orca: you got me there haha 😅
I thought he said "acidify the water" as in polute the water but that makes sense as well

The problem with that is Orcas doesn’t give a shit a about the ocean acidity, they can live practically anywhere

@Artour Babiev na humans need a fat nerf they've been top tier for too long and the meta hasn't been shaken up in a while so its starting to get pretty boring
