Hey everyone, I'm making a concerted effort to branch out beyond UA-cam and make sure TierZoo has some longevity to it independent of platform. If any of you are willing, it would help me out a ton if you'd "Like" my Facebook page here facebook.com/thetierzoo It takes 10,000 followers and 30,000 views to become monetizable on Facebook, and reaching that threshold would be a huge boost to the amount I'm able to spend on each video. So please, if you like my channel, it would help so much!
I'm coming
Yo that Gerudo Valley theme for the Gila Monster was Genius
Can you do a crab or crustacean tier list
It's pretty awesome to have witnessed TierZoo level up so many times from a mere UA-cam starter build to branching out to other meta platforms.
im coming
One Lizard player actually has high intelligence, I heard he used it to make Facebook
I've heard that he came from another server tho, I think he came from the Mars Server? Not sure if it's true.
i hear in some forums that is biuld only devs can play becuz how unbalanced they are
Your profile picture and this comment are both glorious; you have amazing taste
I heard that another huge player is rumored to have be a bot. The devs haven’t confirmed or denied anything yet so it’s up in the air

Basilisk:
>Can walk on two legs

Diogenes:
Don't even have to pluck the feathers.
Man
You know I'm thinking about it, and it's hilarious even with the updated minimal definition of man derived from that: " a featherless biped with flat nails" A PANGOLIN could still be counted as a man.
I mean they do move bipedal quite a lot and at least on their feet they have flat nails so yeah we need to give pangolins human rights if you ask these people.
So mark zuck's species is specifically basilisk?
@@Sara3346 I mean they didn't really know pangolins, basilisks or any of the other bipedal species besides birds and humans existed, which is why Plato proposed that definition in the first place. Diogenes made fun of him because that was an extremely approximated definition and Plato must've been a real smartass about it
The devs really looked at the Komodo dragon and thought “yeah that’s fine”
The Komodo is nothing when compared to it's larger extinct Australian relative-Varanus priscus, it could reach over 6 meters in length, wich is more than twice as long as the biggest Komodos ever, sad that they went extinct 40.000 years ago.
@@eybaza6018 yeah megalanias would be broken in the current meta
@@ErdemTipix They would be ideal in dealing with the invasive pig, horse, camel and water buffalo players in Australia as well as finally challenging the Dingo as Australia's top tier.
Not really, like most of the huge animals of the Ige Age, anything that huge and dangerous would become priority number one for human players.
@@BetaJackMaxis They'd likely be limited to national pars or wilder areas anyway, with similar precautions as with bears in case of an ecounter.
Imagine if Komodo's could bury themselves in the desert's sand to gain enough heat and spit out literal fire.
Imagine if the Basilisks could learn dark magic and actually kill people that see them
I heard that feature was available during the Middle Age version a few years ago, but got banned a while back after the dragon class started bugging the game.
@@gravityx3 Dragon class was never added to the game, this was confirmed by the devs, they are just myths that player base created. So I doubt this feature even existed.

Lizard: * Gains the autotomy ability *
TierZoo: “My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.”
yeah, i feel it is more viable than he is letting on,
@@markwackerman5593 of course it’s viable, or else it wouldn’t be so widespread. Tierzoo seems to think that a lot of the time the only traits worthwhile are those that improve fighting ability, and animals that can’t fight well suck, even if they’re actually great survivors. He says that autonomy is stupid because you lose your weapon, but in most cases if the lizards didn’t lose their tails when attacked they’d just straight up die then and there. Better to lose your weapon than die completely.
@@scunge2667 true that. But now you're defenseless, have a lower max hp and a agility debuff. You'll die regardless.
@@redacted5937 So why not choose the option that lets you live longer and have a higher chance at reproduction?
Honestly, the worst part about his comparison is the whole "max HP" thing. A lizard dropping it's tail affects it's *resistances*, making it more vulnerable to diseases, and having a less energy stores. It won't make the lizard weaker in a fight.
...Well, okay, no. That's just the worst unintuitive part. Obviously the actual worst is that he talks about an objectively positive trait as if it's a negative.
Overlooked features:
Iguanas have pretty devastating bites.
Tegu can raise their body temperature during breeding season, allowing them to be active while other builds still need to bask. They also have a very strong bite and can run pretty fast.
Geckos - some of them can not only shed their tail but also their skin, making grappling attacks much harder to land. Also some gecko species spec heavily in the 'cute' factor, forcing human players to keep them as pets which not only protects them from other pvp players but also results in a good and steady supply of xp.
Monitors not only can run and breath at the same time, their circulatory system has some pretty unique features in their heart resulting in a much better seperation between veinous and arterial blood which means better endurance. They also have a pretty high intelligence for lizards which results in some of them being able to make use of human players as protectors and xp delivery persons - like geckos.
Geckos should go a little bit higher if only because they come in such a huge variety. While many geckos spec into the climbing ability (like my beloved crestie), others (like beloved AFT gecko) spec into ground dwelling/desert survival specs. This gives geckos a huge range to live in.
Legends of a very smart gecko have surfaced, saying that he runs an insurance company, and pretends to be an animated lizard used in its marketing. I think there's more to lizards than we realie
Using Ridley's theme was perfect for the Komodo dragon.

Tegu: _sweats nervously_
more like retains autonomy from pre-lizard ancestors.
@@scaledjames98 Exactly, TierZoo didn't really do his research on the Tegus.
Tegus rarely drop their tail after reaching maturity/high bulk, and instead drop more during youth where it only takes around 2 months to regrow; it is easily the difference between an early death or not, especially when they're not strong enough to use tails as a weapon. Plus they can control how much of the tail to drop, making them immediately better than lizards like the iguanas where its all at once. This is important in the sub-tropical areas most tegus live, where potential predators for a young tegu are far more diverse than what a terrestrial monitor might encounter in an arid environment.
For most of these lists, he doesn't seem to realize that negative traits are eventually bred out, and stick around for a reason...

I love anole lizards. I've seen many in my patio here in New Orleans changing color as they move from branches to leaves but it wasn't until I lucked into a house lizard that I really came to appreciate them. Fruit flies are a common curse here. They are so tiny and numerous that swatting them is hopeless. There may be hundreds in a swarm. Living in an 1850's building I also am cursed with cockroaches, not the tiny ones from the north but 3" giants. I have tried everything to get rid of them but they nest in the empty spaces behind drawers or in walls. About 4 months ago I noticed an anole lizard on my kitchen wall. They are so beautiful, brilliant green with those inscrutable ultra-black eyes. I welcomed it but was unsure whether it could survive in my apartment. There was a big hatch of fruit flies over one of my counters. The next day there were less and by day 3 they were completely gone. I assumed the lizard got them. But then the cockroaches started to disappear. Where I might have seen a dozen or more every day now it was more like 1 or 2. Finally they disappeared too. I can only speculate that the lizard was eating all their eggs. A few tiny ones started showing up with a rare teenage one and I was afraid my lizard had died of starvation, (no more eggs!). I was heartened by seeing just the end of a tail twitch in a crack but the next day there was a tiny lizard body lying on my dishtowel. I don't know why it died. Maybe hunger, maybe age, maybe it got sick but I cried for it. BUT the next day I saw another tail so it's relative has taken up the fight. Got roaches, flies, fruit flies, moths, get a lizard!

Sure a big croc monitor could bite your face/neck area and kill you but you'd have to be manhandling it and you'd have to be able to touch it first and it's not going to let you if it doesn't know and trust you. Should be noted that monitor lizard builds are also the only lizards who are capable of breathing and running at the same time. By forcing air down their throats, they can chase down other players with much greater endurance than any other lizard build.
The way they pressurize their heart to prevent oxygenated and deoxygenated blood from mixing helps too.
They are the only ones that can run on four legs, but many other builds are able to breath while running on their back legs, which is much less efficient, but still better than nothing.

Fun fact: Komodo dragons probably ate dwarf elephants, and that could be why they evolved to fit so large

In general, mammals get smaller on islands. Fewer food resources pressures mammals into evolving smaller bodies. Carnivorous mammals usually die off. Reptiles are cold blooded so they don’t require as many calories. That means island reptiles get bigger and replace the niche that carnivorous mammals had.

There’s a bug in the game where a door will open and a purple lizard player by the name of Randall appears. They affect the human toddler player base and I hope the devs fix this.
The Randall build does not match well against swamp people builds.
It's because of their increased DPS vs builds with the "Gator" trait, which, while not usually noticeable, DOES feature in the build.
I heard that the "randal" build was actually an Easter egg by one of the devs from a movie he watched or something
Don’t worry they’re planning on adding a cyclops and horned monster build soon to nerf it
Why would they do that, they already added the shovel weapon which deals 300% damage to randals. Are they just trying to completely destroy a troll build.
Love the Eyewitness video theme in the background. Takes me back

You forgot to mention the most dangerous of all the lizards: "The Blindworm!"
(it's a small lizard with no legs or arms and no teeth)
better watch out it can slightly wet your finger!
@@siegfried9688 this is a blindworm, it is extremely dangerous, so we have to deal with it

I cannot believe I've never heard of this channel before. It's educational and frickin' hilarious.

I like how the "we are in a simulation" theory was used by teir zoo to make biology more intresting (I mainly watch these for fun)
1:34 This is off-topic, but your use of the Eyewitness theme music touches my heart in a very particular and special way. :')
Just adding a comment. TierZoo probably has heard this several times, but my girlfriend just reminded me that Tier in German means animal.
Apparently it was just a coincidence. Watch the Mario party with him.
Hundred times
Yep, German here. And Zoo is zoo anyways.
So I thought this is a channel about animals/Tier(e) without the funny comments and editing and a more serious approach.
Was not disappointed when I found out he means tier in a gaming meaning :D
Yoo your right
More specifically mammals especially ungulates like Deer; coincidentally the source of the American English word Deer.
The gecko should be S tier because it saved me 15% on car insurance
i am too scared to ask how
saved me 15 minutes or more
How
Intelligence stat: MAX
to me tegu lizards are S tiers, they are smart enough to realize their tail is useful and use autotomy rarely, only when they are chicks or are at risk of death (and they have high mobility in water and can run relatively fast.)
Love the smash theme off al these videos, such a treasure
Day 1 of asking TierZoo for the Penguin Tier List.
Watch as this man achieves his dreams.
see you in 45 days
We need a penguin tier list
This is how it starts
Count me in!!!!
Ironically anole, geckos and skinks are high tier if you're going for a lizard build that focuses on the pet class.
Leapord Geckos are definitely S tier pets *nods*
geckos also save you up to 15% on car insurance
The ackie monitor is also a build with good stats and abilities for the pet class. Beaten by things like leopard geckos and bearded dragons, but the margin isn't massive.
@@elfmonster1476 Ironically the smallest monitor species lives in the country that is known for it's deadly animals. Even more ironic, the neighboring country, in Indonesia, on komodo Island, lives arguably the most fearsome and deadly monitor species.
Most weak or small build benefit alot as pets from humans as they get protected In exchange for happiness stat going up
You definitely earned and deserved this sub
I love how this whole channel is a just huge ploy to trick gamers into learning about animal biology.
I didn't realise that
I mean....it worked kinda.
trick?
You have to prepare people for when thrive gets finished
No
Fun Fact: While komodo dragons don't have the strongest bite, their saliva does contain an strong anti-clotting agent, or anticoagulant, so they only need to bite their prey once and then chase it as it slowly bleeds out.

Personally, I Find That The Bleed Debuff Is The Most OP Thing That Players Can Cause.
As a gecko main I can concur that our play style is much easier than other lizards. Since most of us have used evolution points on padding, climbing is an easy way not to get ambushed. Plus, with our usual camo and excellent jaw strength we have no problem defending ourselves. If we fail some of us still have our self amputating tails. Our only predators are birds and a few snake builds. Still, I’m happy to be listed as a descent C tier.
"but it's certainly no low tier."
*gets punched by squirrel*
squirrels are S tier
Yeah, but that didn't really do any damage. On the other hand, that Squirrel would be pretty much a one-shot for the Gila Monster.
@@numbskull9369 Really, they aren't. They were only put in S tier because some of them tend to accidentially grief human communication networks, but I feel like that was really overselling them because you don't actually get an immediate advantage from doing it.
Realistically, squirrels are on high B tier. They have excellent mobility and aren't horrible in combat but will still consistently lose to bird, coyote, snake, cat, dog and marten players.
@@darthplagueis13
LOL, squirrels are definitely S tier.
No Hooman has yet invented a bird feeder that's squirrel proof.
So really, squirrels outrank Hoomans
Ouch....

@@darthplagueis13 simply having a good matchup against humans shoots up them by at least a hole rank when you take matchup spread into acount.
But If you dont yeah B tier.
Edit so I would put them in like mid A tier due to PARTS of there matchup spread.
