  • What it do UA-cam?! I've been frustrated lately. Check Engine Light keeps coming on, and then going off. The day of my appointment at the dealership, the CEL was off, so they said they can't help. I tried taking it to AutoZone, they weren't able to help. THEN to top if all off, while recording this video, my infotainment is being unresponsive.
    Stick around for the ride, drop a comment, and subscribe if you want to help me out.

    So since when is a truck that’s built for the trails have to have heated seats and leather steering wheels? Sounds like you want a pavement princess and should have gotten a different trim.

    The Trail Boss interior was designed to have that "cheap" interior, plastic door panels, steering wheel, dash, etc was made for off roaders that when you get it dirty inside everything wipes down and cleans easier, I have the Z71 - 2023 - and I have alot nicer materials - door panels, leather steering wheel, seats, red stitching everywhere etc, and yes I needed the heated seats so I went with the Z71, the 2023 colorado is only slightly larger on the inside than the previous 2015- 2023s, I did learn by accident that when you hold down the unlock button on the keyfob for 5 seconds or more all of the windows will automatically lower themselves if the truck is running or not, I will have to pay attention to that when its raining or snowing or just in a shopping center parking lot, I guess it was made to let the heat out before you get in the truck? as for price nothings cheap anymore the average price of new vehicles is around $40,000 which puts it in the same price as the Tacoma and Frontier

    This is why I went with the GMC Canyon. Much nicer interior appointments, plus heated seats, more soft touch areas, and high out put engine with 310hp and 430ft lbs torque. Higher lift, better tires, and the list goes on and this is with the entry level Elevation trim.

    I picked up a 2023 canyon elevation about a month ago..... I was loving the truck until I went to start it one morning and the battery was completely dead..I was able to jump it and drive it for a couple days with no issues. 2 days later I had the same issue with the battery being dead, I was able to jump it but it took a while. The very next day it died again and I was unable to jump it. I got it towed to the dealership and it has been there for 4 days, they still can't figure out how to fix the issue. I traded in my '21 Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 on a new '24 ZR2 this past Saturday. I love the truck so far 300 miles in but there are a few things annoying me. Absolutely no aftermarket: I bought the ZR2 because I didn't wanna be tempted to do serious mods but I can't even find black badge overlays for the "chrome" Colorado emblems on the doors and tailgate. The tabs on the very front of the fender flares aren't seated causing a gap so I'm gonna have to pop some screws out of the front wheel well shrouds and seat them in place. Someone also recommended checking the fuse box to make sure all the fuses are seated. Apparently the fuse box and fender flare issue are very common.

With my new Canyon I can tow just as much as I could with the Sierra and the 5.3 v8 power train. It maneuvers better then the Sierra. Turns and stops quicker and is easier to park and maneuvers better in traffic. It's just a joy to drive compared to the Sierra which was like driving a bus to work everyday.

    If you want heated seats you should have bought a Z71! Then add tires. When I bought my 2019 Crew Cab SB 4x4 WT, V6, I found one with every option available in a WT. That’s been a flawless runner, working hard for 63,000 trouble free miles, about 10k worth was towing at a Cat Scale certified 10,250 lbs CGVW. With ease and plenty of power towing a 26’ travel trailer. The truck came with the towing package and trailer brake control, appearance package that came in one color bumpers, door handles and grill, dark tinted windows and 16” alloy wheels. The WT Convenience Package with easy lift locking tailgate, cruise control, plus upgraded 7” touch screen with 6 speakers, Bluetooth and OnStar 4 G LTE WIFI, that’s great when traveling and camping! Not to mention the other advantages of OnStar, including 20% discount on insurance! Plus the skid plate under the transfer case. The best part? Was the out the door price, with dealer installed ZR2 type skid plate package that accommodates the dam air dam, of $34,500! Including a GM 100,000/84 mo bumper to bumper warranty! Then at 30,000 miles I had new struts/shocks installed, with Bilstein 5100’s, with the front set at 2”, and the rear with 1” blocks. That has really enhanced the ride and handling on an off road, especially speed bumps and flying down the beaches. I fit 265/75-16 Cooper Discoverer RTX tires at 32”. If I were to trade for another truck it would be a Gladiator. The worst part about the newer Colorado WT and LT, is the fact you can’t get 4x4, with LOW RANGE! At any price, only Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2 gets a two speed transfer.

    You're always taking a risk when you buy the 1st model year of ANY vehicle. That said, the TrailBoss is sh*t for what you pay. I'd go with the Z71 because it's far better equipped with much nicer interior and you can always upgrade the suspension later if you really need the capability (most people don't). I'm currently cross shopping the Colorado Z71 and Frontier Pro4x. The Pro4x is a better value and would likely be more reliable, but the Z71 is more capable as far as hauling and towing. It's a tough call..

    That volume control is a push button OFF - ON too. The only problem on my new 2023 Chevy Colorado is that the headlights are on during the day when in AUTO Control. You're in the Bluetooth mode, switch out of that for the AM/FM Stations. I'm definitely old school, but you can't stay back in time ... Time waits for no man, they say. We just have to learn how to remedy the so called high tech glitched when they occur. I paid 44K for my Colorado LT 9 Radiant Red) but I have almost all the option as the Z71, included the lifetime bed protection, side SS step bars,, contoured mud flaps, high tech floor mats, paint shield, 7 year bumper to bumper, and 4 window shades (which I don't like the brand). I recently had the truck rust-proofed for almost $700. I'm a senior citizen (75), so this is the last vehicle I'll ever own, which I'll Will to my son. The Chevy Dealer was the only dealership that gave me money on my 21 yo Ford Ranger XLT which I purchased new in 2002, plus they gave me a military discount. So, the 2023 Chevy Colorado was a perfect match for me. With the Auto Workers going on strike, lucky me I already made 2023 new vehicle purchase, price of vehicles will skyrocket along with Auto Insurance for everyone ... Believe it!

    Buying a cheap trim and then complaining about how cheap it is sounds a little crazy to me. I'd never consider a trailboss. It's cool that its all rugged on the inside for trail running and what not but even at the cheaper trim price, it's still pretty expensive and should still provide some of the comforts of a good daily. To me, It's a glorified work truck with a barely noticeable lift

    New infotainment systems are inherently buggy, there will likely be a software update in the near future to address those concerns and unfortunately the dealer cannot re engineer the software so other than doing a hard reset there may be nothing they can do. As far as the interior quality and features one would think you would have seen that before you bought it and if it wasn't up to your standards why did you buy it? You're never gonna get caddilac refinement in a Chevy.

    I test drove the 2023 trail boss and the GMC AT4. Was not impressed with either. The salesman couldn’t get the cameras to work and the interior is a little cheaply made. The truck needed an alignment, drifted right and had a crooked steering wheel. Also the transmission shifted really funny.
    I ended up buying a 2023 Ford ranger lariat Tremor. Great truck. Ford makes a better truck than GM. I got a great deal because ford has a new model coming 2024.

I have made sure my phone Android Auto is up to date and can only assume the infotainment will update whenever its available. I have not had the check engine light issue at all. The rest that you mention seems to be cosmetics with that trim level.

  • @theplayernkc
    @theplayernkc Рік тому

    You do know that just because the engine light turns off does not mean you can't pull the code. When the check engine light comes on, the error code is saved to the computer and Chevy can still pull that stored code even when the light is off. Take it to a Chevy dealer, not Auto Zone to find the issue.

      I tried to buy a GMC Canyon Denali but they only come in black or white with sunroofs. I called every dealer within 500 miles and was told no luck with buying one but would have to order it and wait 3 to 5 months, maybe. The same dealer has the Chevy Colorado so I looked at them. I bought a Z71 and so far I really like it. It has a lot of pep and is much easier to park than my Sierra. I didn't get all that I wanted on it but it has 20-inch tires and I have learned there are so many things connected with the infotainment system and what can be controlled that I know it will take a while to learn them all. It's funny how they set up the packages. I have heated seats and outside mirrors but not a heated steering wheel. I have lane warning and auto braking but not outside mirror blind spot warning. If you want cooled seats you have to get the leather package. I do have mixed emotions about the rear seat storage bins under the seat. I used to put the seats up and my dog had the whole back floor as her area. Now there is no room if the seats are raised up due to the storage bins. Overall, I like my new truck.

    Wish I watched this before I bought mine. I’m trading it in before the first oil change is even due. Upgrading to the Silverado trail boss. And hoping for a better experience. I have tons of issues with my display screen just like you. Took Chevy over a week to figure it out. They didn’t want to give me a loaner vehicle either till I put a bad review online and talked a bunch of sh*t to them. The dealership was terrible, the truck is too small, the technology isn’t tested enough to be reliable, my collision warning system goes off constantly even when there is nothing in front of me, doesn’t come with a tow package, I installed my own hitch (Chevy wanted $900 to do it), no heated anything, manual back window is outdated and annoying, wayyyy too much plastic, feels like you’re riding in a tin can, the missing storage on the back of the seats is annoying, no smart keyless entry, everything you may want like the plug in the bed for example is an upgrade and no sun roof. For the money you pay there sure isn’t a lot that comes with it besides anger and regret. I should have just kept my 4runner!
