I always leave 1qt out so it shows what is "exactly" 1qt low. Don't forget to start engine first so oil filter fills up for correct reading. Then put the other quart in. Now you know exactly what is 1qt LOW and FULL. I've only seen a couple of dipsticks that were correct.
Keep your eye on the oil level in these 2.7s. Mine burns a qt every 3,000. Heard this is very common. Love this engine in my Silverado though, Im sure its even better in the Colorado.
@arberfilms5998 That's good, mines a Silverado and a lot of people on the FB forum have complained about same thing. Honestly my last Silverado with the 4.3 did the same thing but never had any issues in the 10 years I had it.
Very interesting. My 2.7 EcoBoost has 99K miles and doesn't burn any oil. I know GM had a lawsuit for their 4 cylinders back in the day for defective piston rings leading to 1 quart every 1000 miles.
I agree. It's my father's truck so that's what he wants. I go 5000 in my Fusion Sport and had Oil analysis done which revealed below average wear metals and about 2000 miles left in the oil.
You’re wasting your money. We have a fleet of over 100 trucks from the big 3. I randomly send oil samples of the used oil for analysis, lab analysis shows the oil is still good / in spec. Same with diesel equipment going 500 hour intervals, used to be 250 hours.
Hey what oil temperature and transmission temperature should the truck normally run on i get my truck creeping up to 210 for transmission and 225 for engine oil temp and it can fluctuate come dow and go back up is this normal
I'm really not sure on a specific range, but I believe EOT above 240 and TFT above 220 is when things can become a cause for concern. Where you drive and if you tow anything can increase these numbers as well. Hope that helps
Ya those are normal temps. Ive seen in other gm transmissions you were able to bypass the thermostat to let it run cooler. These are electronically controlled so it's not possible. Whether it's good or not that is what they designed it to run at.
Glad to see you have the new metal oil pan !
Definitely good to have, especially for the Z71 trucks.

Even when they are new? Mine has 3981 miles on it.
@arberfilms5998 ya mines a 23 with 12,000 miles on it and I've had it since new.
@@danielbonner8309 I put almost 4000 miles on mine and I checked it today, it’s still very much full.

Oil should go to the top of the grid on the dipstick. Full 6qts.
Precisely.
3:22😂😂😂
Caught me lacking!
😅
7500 miles? I would go around half that if it were my truck.

I change mine between 5,000 and 5,500 miles.
That's what I do on my personal vehicle. I'm getting my oil tested to see if I can extend the interval, but for most people 5K is a good number.
The camera moves too much
Working to fix this
