You can also get the ZR2 tune for all the other trims as long as you don't have the lower engine option offered in the Work Truck trim. I have it on my Z71.
ZR2 has lower toy capacity and payload. Unfortunately if you want to keep that with chevy you have to choose between z71 (luxury interior but no factory lift) or trailboss (lifted and widebody but worktruck interior). So to keep payload and not have a stripped truck and still have lift and widebody you have to go GMC canyon at4.
I don’t understand why you are still a loyal customer. I dropped them after my third 5.3 engine blew in my 3rd Silverado. My family has always been die hard GM. They dropped Pontiac, their QC sucks, the materials they use get cheaper every year, and they don’t give a damn about the consumer.
I totally relate to your experience. Unfortunately, nowadays the three big ones from the US are making crappy tracks and no other brand makes the same products so it is hard to buy from somebody else
My 2023 Colorado ZR2 has just over 11k miles without a glitch; ZERO problems. The engine is fantastic with power to spare. There's nothing I dislike about this truck. Well, OK, I wish it had a 30 gal gas tank.
@@Plucus21 in 2012 I bought a brand new Silverado, at 8000 miles it started giving problems, GM didn't fix the engine under warranty, it was fixed under my dime and they left it worse than it was before 🥹
I've always wondered what would have been if dodge stuck with the Dakota? I mean the hellcat Durango's, Jeep's, a few mini vans, and the TRX. I feel if there was a hellcat Dakota they would fly off the shelves.
You can option all colorados with the high output engine. And every canyon comes standard with the high output. You don’t have to get a ZR2 ton of have the high output
I test drove a new ZR2 last week and I was highly disappointed. Idk if it's because I have my diesel ZR2 dialed in to how I like it, but I felt I'd be downgrading if I bought it. Acceleration is as good as my diesel ZR2, but the suspension is WAY too soft. The only thing worth having (in my opinion) is the updated interior, and that's about it. Safe to say, I'm just gonna rebuild my 2.8 babymax when it finally blows, and I'll probably just end up adding a jeep.
Check! I have learned to go about warranty issues a bit different with my local GM dealers. I'm not sure if my local dealers work differently because i'm not in a major metropolitan area, but if i have issues, I just go in and ask them NICELY if they can submit a warranty request for me. They take pics of all of the angles of my truck and of the issue and submit it. Usually they have a decision from GM same day. Obviously that isn't gonna work for a CEL but so far I haven't had anything denied.
I got the card and got a deal on a new truck they offered a little extra off but then i read all the fine print and it does say you have to use those points before the years up because they don’t carry over. Then I cancelled the card and cut it up . I buy a new one every few years but not every year. Good luck with the ZR2.
You need 2 bring this 1 to the OBX! We can make a vid comparing it, on the beach to my V8 pwrd Dingo (hey...it's got a 1" lift!!) Will put u up, if I can test drive it!
Sitting here with my 2024 Ranger STX 4x4. 2.3 turbo, nice power and torque, good and quiet interior. Smooth car like ride. Granted its more of an all purpose vehicle, and not a dedicated off roader, so far an intermittent foglight issue, and an alignment adjustment have been the only issues.
This 2.7 turbomax in the ZR2 isn't underpowered by any means. It's de-tuned for sure. Likely to keep it from cannibalizing the first V8 upgrade in the 1500 silverado. Tuned for 93 octane(91 for you states without the good stuff), I promise the first thing that would come to your mind is it should have come like that. Another mistake I keep seeing made on these new trucks with turbo 4s and 6s is you can't treat them like NA when optimizing efficiency. It's not ecoboost. It's Eco or Boost. Bumping that 3.43 to a 3. 73 or 4.10 would make a world of difference keeping you out of boost with big 33s and 35s cruising down the highway. Boost is your mpg killer.
I have a 2024 canyon. L3B engine is identical and the tune is identical as well. There is a video of a gm engineer explaining advantages of the 4 cylinder over v6 for this application in the same displacement
I don't understand why in 2024 all the small truck makers decided we want camo on everything. I don't. Love the military, but don't want camo in my truck.
All of these new generation trucks and SUVs are trash. Quality of Parts across all brands has dropped so much and have become so inconsistent it’s crazy, especially considering the massive price increases. I currently have a Gladiator Mojave that has had the engine replaced at 15,000 miles, both batteries failed at 16k miles, starter failed at 17k, 3 of the fox shocks were shot by the time I hit 22k Jeep replaced all 4, and the radiator just randomly cracked and left me overheating last week at 29k miles. Lots of gladiator owners with similar experience. Tacomas have been riddled with issues, broncos quality not great either. I’d say by far the Colorado’s are at the top of the mid sized truck market right now in terms of performance, price and reliability. Can’t wait to trade my Jeep
Get the 2nd gen 2020 or 2021 TRD PRO Tundra or any TRD PRO 4Runner through 2024 and it’ll look and last way longer with basically zero problems. Both have made it to a million miles with the original engine and tranny. Can’t say that about any other brand
@@virgfresco1403 I didn’t say the Mexican built Tacos. I said to buy a 2020 or 2021 TRD PRO Tundra with the 5.7 built in San Antonio which will last a million miles. Or get any TRD PRO 4Runner 2024 or older and a 2021 Landcruiser and you have the best truck and suvs ever built. Do not buy any Toyotas beyond those years bcuz they have turbos and the quality is crap
I feel like GM did some marketing magic advertising the 2.7t with the similar horsepower numbers as my old 5.3 (310 and 315). Obviously it’s a different power band, but I remember they had a 5.3 in the first gen Colorado and it was a nice vehicle. The can do it easily but climate change🙄Check!
LOL, Why would Chevy have your back when you keep buying vehicles from them. They have no reason to change when all people do is complain while still giving them your money.
I'm really gonna unsubscribe. Because almost every time I look at your videos, you're beating the 💩 outta your truck and then complain about it. If u hate it so much go get something else. It's that simple. I don't think the share holding at GM will be mad if u leave.
Bobby, absolutely love the "Mud, Rinse, Repeat" shirt design, and I really want to buy it, but $40 for a single t-shirt? That's ridiculous!! How about instead of entry multipliers, yall do discounts on the merch, especially the t-shirts. I miss the days when they were only $20, which is a much fairer price, even $25 would do it, but $40 for a single f***ing t-shirt is WAY too much. Not sure if that's because of you, or Mike, or the supplier, but those prices gotta drop! Also...... SELL THE DANM CHEVY!!! Get your head out of your ass and get a Ford or Ram, Chevy clearly sucks so ditch them already so we don't have to hear you whine about your P.O.S. chevy trucks anymore.
agree, if they are quality shirts i can see it being worth it, but i dont think they are, basically youre paying $25 for the shirt and $15 for 5 entry tickets for the giveaway
Why? They're garbage too now. Jc they still don't offer a front locker. TFL broke their front dif going up a mild slippery surface. Look at all the Tundra's grenading. Nobody will even take them as a trade.
For 35s to fit on a Colorado, and not a fullsize ZR2 is !@#%!#! Chad Hall is running 37s on his factory backed ZR2......so who knows what the future holds.
Sorry y’all! I misspoke. All gen 3s come with a turbo but the ZR2’s are tuned different. Even so, don’t be a square. Spring for the Zr2! 😝
You can also get the ZR2 tune for all the other trims as long as you don't have the lower engine option offered in the Work Truck trim. I have it on my Z71.
Are these engine lights due to easy repair stuff and inexpensive or are they deal breakers for not buying one of these?
ZR2 has lower toy capacity and payload. Unfortunately if you want to keep that with chevy you have to choose between z71 (luxury interior but no factory lift) or trailboss (lifted and widebody but worktruck interior). So to keep payload and not have a stripped truck and still have lift and widebody you have to go GMC canyon at4.

Was is the displacement on demand 5.3? The cylinder shut off type?
Truth
Toyota also sucks now their 2.4 has been blowing up tranny's here and there and theyre overpriced
What do you drive now? Looks like the Ranger isn’t any good either. So it’s looking like either the Tacoma or f150

11k miles is literally nothing. When you hit 200k let us know although I doubt that truck will make it that far without major drive train problems.

You are insane for continuing to give GM your money after how crappy they’ve been to you.
Yep, GM quality has gone downhill. They still cannot build a transmission that holds up and cylinder deactivation? Don’t even get me started.
