I have never seen a UA-cam where I can touch the screen and turn to look around. I loved visiting here before the flood. Can't wait till it's fixed so I can so my boys
I think it's supposed to be open, yes. They usually don't have the tunnel open for bike traffic though (too many tourists). Between Hope and Portia station there isn't any non-highway option. But from Portia station, you can ride Coquihalla Lakes Rd north and it's passible to Brookmere. Brookmere to Coalmont on the KVR is passible but barely (I did it though see vid - ua-cam.com/video/FBMtiV3GED8/v-deo.html). Alternatively take Coalmont Rd which is not paved and mostly parallel to the KVR to Princeton. Coalmont to Princeton is completely impassible at several points due to washouts.
@@LifeIsAdventureChannel I watched all your videos on the trail. They were well done. I saw other bike riders taking highway 3 as the detour. You are indicating I don’t need to do that? I’m trying to ride from Vancouver to Baniff. Is Coalmont road passable all the way from Hope to Princeton? Thank you!!
Between Hope + Portia it's basically just HWY 5 (coquihalla hwy). There are some points you can get off the highway - Othello Rd, Siwash Creek Rd, Carolin Mine Rd. I think you should probably do HWY 3 though, unless you are really interested in biking parts of the KVR. KVR is in really rough shape Hope to Princeton.

Fingers crossed it will be open again next year!
Will it be open in the summer of 2023? How about passable? Are there any non-highway alternatives between Hope and Princeton? Thanks.

I just reread your response. Between Hope and Portia how far is it and what highway would you take?

Coalmont Rd is passible but it only goes roughly half way to Hope from Princeton. HWY 3 by far the faster route.
