  • This video provides both a field test and a review of the EGO LM2000-S, 56-Volt, Lithium Ion, Cordless Mower. The field test shows how much grass this mower will cut based solely on the residual charge left within two seven year old EGO Lithium Ion batteries (one 4Ah battery and one 2Ah battery) after those batteries sat all winter. This video also provides an overall review of the mower, highlighting a number of advantages associated with electric mowers in general, as well as a number of advantages specifically associated with the EGO LM2000-S.

Do you know how many amp hours your battery is? 30 minutes would probably be good for the 2.0 or 2.5 amp hour batteries. Also, how low do have the mower deck set? If you set it in the middle (I have mine set at 3) the battery lasts much longer, and, in my opinion, the lawn looks nicer and stays healthier.

When people ask me how long a battery runs, I tell them. It of course depends on the size of the battery: 4 amp hours vs 2.5 amp hours, for example. But when they ask how long I can mow my lawn with my battery-electric lawnmower, I tell them indefinitely because one battery can always be charging while the other battery is being used. Batteries are nicknamed blood Batteries for a reason. Alot of people have no idea where they are made or that they are not profitable in recycling. California recently found out the true where their recycling really goes and it wasn't pretty. I'm an engine plant a couple trees kinda guy. Engines are recyclable and reusable. Battery mowers require more rare earth minerals. Key word rare. Just use what Japan uses red hydrogen or fusion. Infinite power.

Is cheaper to buy the package then just the battery. But I'll still keep the trimmer and blower, but the lawnmower yea I'll going to sell it. Also, I seen that if you have wet or tall grass you have lift up so the batteey doesn't delay and stop, due to using to much power, if it does the battery drain fast then I'll have to re charge. Height of the cut also affects battery life. You were cutting on level 2 I believe which is way too short. I cut all season long on the highest setting (7) and I never run out of power on a single 7.5 AH battery. In fact with the same battery I can do the edging and weed wacking and still end up with about 5-10% left. Its also better for your lawn because taller grass promotes deeper roots and less likely to burn out in summer.

Yes, every Grade 8 kid learns that plant life consumes CO2. However, plant life also needs a host of other conditions to thrive, including the right temperature, sunlight, nitrogen, and moisture. The global warming that is caused by increased CO2 causes droughts, heat stress, and forest fires which not only harm plant life, but converts forests from carbon sinks to net producers of CO2.
Here’s a basic, inescapable fact: we know that CO2 levels are rising. Nobody denies that. Given that fact, we also know that we are providing the world’s plant life far more CO2 than it can consume. Otherwise, CO2 wouldn’t continue to rise.

I swear the original EGO battery cells were of much higher quality than these new ones they are making now. Two of my 5ah Ego batteries failed after 1-2 years of normal residential use in my leaf blower. I had to warranty both of them. I keep my batteries indoors stored in a safe location, but they still failed. Then the warranty replacement batteries all failed the same way. The newer batteries will run for 3-4 min then flash red, you will have to remove the battery and place it back it to get an additional 30sec to 1 min of run time before having to repeat over and over until the battery is depleted.

In my opinion, the more lawn you have, the more benefit you will receive from mowing with a battery electric mower. Similar to driving an electric car, the people who drive the most miles per year stand to benefit the most from switching over to electric. My backyard is about half the size of my front yard, but it’s still pretty significant. For a while last summer, I was also going across the street to mow my neighbour’s lawn on the same day that I would mow my own lawn, and I would often do it using the same battery - without the need to recharge. I always like to point out that an EGO battery charges faster than it depletes when mowing, so as long as you have two batteries, then you can essentially mow indefinitely because one battery can be charging while you’re using the other one. You would be surprised how long one freshly-charged battery can run, though, especially if you adjust the cutting height properly.

And I have really tough thick grass that causes the mower to always speed up to avoid bogging down. Ive had mine about 3yrs. When I first bought it 1 battery would mow both front and back and still a bit of juice left. I abuse the hell out of mine though. I even use it for brush hogging lol. Im working on getting the blower and a much bigger battery so I wont have to stop. oh yea its worth noting I have the newer one with the double blades. I always mulch I never use the bag due to the size of the yard. I tried once and I was emptying the bag after every line. lol. The grass grow super fast here. I cannot be cutting my grass every day or every 2 days. I try to stick to doing it twice a week.

Okay. I've tracked down a few comments that some of my viewers have shared on how to get non-charging EGO batteries going again. I can't say that I fully understand all of these tricks, but I've asked for more detail, and I'll share it if I get a reply. Here's what I have for you so far:
Trick #1: "If doesn't charge, on top of the where you press to see the battery life. Tap the top and see if anything changes, now the battery works." I asked for more detail on this tip, and this is the reply I got: "The area where the button is (where it shows the battery life). I just tap it with my palm few hits, not hard, and somehow it started working, it seem like it's a wire issue inside that made a lost connection. Ever since then I been using it, and it has been holding charge."
Trick #2: "Remove the battery from the charger, press and hold the button for 3 seconds or until indicator lights give you a report. This will reset the computer in the battery."
Trick #3: (This may work in a similar way to Trick #1.) "Orient battery so that the indicator light is on top. Drop battery on to hard surface from a distance of 2 or 3 inches. Place back on charger. This will reset the thermal safety switch in the battery."
I would love if you could get back to us on how some of these hacks might have worked for you. Good luck... I'm rooting for you!

Actually, it’s a very good idea: as long as the EV is a Tesla. The Tesla Supercharger Network makes virtually anywhere you want to go accessible. Charging stations are generally situated at great locations for restaurants, shopping, etc, so you just stop every now and then for a regular food break, bathroom break, or just to stretch your legs, and you’re done charging by the time you’re finished with your regular stop. EVs are more affordable by the mile than gas cars, so the longer you typically drive, the faster they pay for themselves. Traveling salespeople, for example, are crazy about Teslas.

I assumed it was better to charge them while they’re warm because I know that charging a cold battery is harmful to the battery. In fact, when you set a Supercharger as your destination on a Tesla navigation system, the Tesla automatically starts warming up its battery in preparation for the charging session. Nonetheless, when I Google this question, I do see that there is advice online suggesting that we let lithium ion batteries cool down before charging. To be sure, anything we produce requires both materials and energy. I don’t think anyone believes otherwise. At the production stage, environmental degradation is known as a production externality: a cost to the environment. At the consumption stage, any environmental degradation (ex. burning of fossil fuels) is known as a consumption externality. In general, battery electric products produce more production externalities than an equivalent gas-powered device. However, study after study after study shows that the marked reduction of consumption externalities more than makes up for the extra production externalities created by the production of batteries.

It costs me about 7 cents of energy to charge two EGO batteries, which is more than I need for one mowing of my lawn, but let’s round up. For simplicity sake, let’s add another 3 cents for transfer loss, and assume a total energy cost of 10 cents per cut. Furthermore, let’s assume you would use only one gallon of gas to mow your lawn all summer, and let’s further assume that you spend nothing at all on oil, filters, spark plugs, fuel stabilizer, etc. For the $3.50 that you spend on one gallon of gas ($4.69 CDN), I could mow my lawn approximately 47 times. That would equal one cut every three to four days for half the year. I only cut my lawn every ten days or so. There’s a reason why you only see gas lawn mowers put out at the end of people’s driveways with a sign taped on them that says, “FREE.”
