EGO batteries are super expensive but the tools they feed are by far the best. All the battery-electric lawn tool makers claim "gas-like power"; EGO delivers. I got into the EGO ecosystem after giving up on my Ryobi mower. I still use Ryobi for hand tools (and I am a satisfied buyer/collector) but for lawn/garden - EGO rules. I need a larger lot so I can justify the zero-turn, that thing is a must get item
all batteries are super expensive a Tesla battery pack cost 20k just imagine a EV UTE that can go tow to tow with a land cruiser talking about 100k just for the pack as they are to day. that said EGO battery's are well worth the price especially if your on a budget buy one battery and it works will all other EGO tools thats what i did got a select cut mower kit wit the 7.5 battery and got a tool only line trimmer and blower. my yard is the perfect size can mow then trim the edges in one charge. and only takes 45 mins to charge up again.
Have had 2 batteries since 2014. Still going! I slow charge mine almost every time and store batteries inside the last few years. I never keep going after the light turns red.
It does seem that storage in a warmish place is best. The company says that it might be best in the house, cold sheds and garages might not help the battery life.
I've had 2 battery's since 2019 both have failed one has been replaced under warranty the other has been returned to the dealership. The tools are good I can't say the same about the batteries
batteries from 2020 7.5ah and dead still looks like brand new never even drop and stored indoor all year round but just dead after 2 yr …. pretty sad ill be selling all my ego crap
If I have to store mine over a long winter should I keep it on the charger so it goes into maintenance mode or manually charge it? If manually how often?

I purchased my ego lawnmower just three days ago, so everything here is first impression. The product is well made, easy to use, and stores in a small space. I cringed when I dropped the battery! But it survived with no issue. Make sure you adjust the self-propel control down. At the highest level, it wants to take of at high speed! lol!
I just got the Ego pole saw. It is nice and light and has a LOT of power for the weight. I've used my neighbor's gas-powered pole saw and it's as powerful as that one seems to be, but it's more convenient than either that or my old electric saw with the cord. I am thinking I'll get the weed-trimmer attachment by springtime, maybe the chainsaw also. The products seem strong. My sister has the weed-blower and family says it is VERY powerful.
I expected the runtime of the eGO battery to diminish over time. What I didn't expect is that it would catastrophically fail rendering the power equipment immediately useless until you purchase another $300 battery. $300 buys quite a bit of lawn mower gas, especially if you have to replace the battery every 5 years.
I had a very good experience at first. Before the batteries failed in less than 3 years. But the warranty replacement batteries lasted less than a year. I had 2 since I purchased 2 tools and the batteries failed at about the same time. One of the replacement batteries lasted less than 8 months, the other lasted about 10 months. Just enough time to get past the warranty period. New batteries are over $150 each. I could buy new tools cheaper. Probably gas tools this time because they are clearly better for the environment since they last longer and don't require toxic Lithium to be mined with fossil fuels and then left in a landfill. It is my opinion that these tools are both a poor choice for performance and longevity but also a poor choice for "going green". I would strongly advice someone to avoid these products.
That's true, my 7.5 battery after 3 years (that's the warranty time) just doesn't charge any more. Of course customer service take long when calling, phone rings and rings. Give you the option for call back, but they call you the next morning at 0800. Like I'm at work lol ... unfortunately I'm going to go gas for lawnmower, the only thing I'll keep is blower/trimmer with the 2.5 battery. (Cheaper). Compare to the 7.5 being about $500.
I have the mower, trimmer and blower. Same experiences with the batteries as you. All 3 failed. One just before warranty expired and the other two just after. Not worth it. I can't imagine getting the zero turn and having to get batteries just a few years later after spending over 5 grand. Each of those batteries are nearly $500 a piece and that mower requires several.
I had to sell and give away my EGO chainsaw, mower and line trimmer at a very significant loss because I had three separate battery failures within a year, including a replacement battery under warranty. My wonderful local hardware store told me EGO Australia was not very consultative so as more of my 3rd Generation batteries failed, they actually gave me two of the 2nd Generation batteries from their own stock, as EGO was not very helpful with customer replacements. I was told a number of customers were having similar problems to me with the 3rd Generation batteries. Typically they would flash red and not run or charge properly. I ended up donating my line trimmer to a community garden club and selling my mower and chainsaw cheaply. I love the EGO equipment and can hardly fault it but the batteries are too expensive and unreliable and customer service is not good, in Australia. I've moved to Ozito brand and the quality of their mowers and chainsaws and batteries have been superb. In many years of using battery equipment, the only brand batteries that have failed me, are the EGO ones. PS: I sold/donated my EGO equipment with 2nd Gen batteries, the ones using the Duracell branded internal cells. I think the 3rd Gen use Samsung.
EGO tools are well made and high quality. However after 2-3 years their batteries start to trip overheat protection faster. I had to warrenty all of their batteries. Now I am concerned about what I am going to to do in 1-2 more years when these replacement batteries start to exhibit the same early trip of overheat again.
Ive had similar problems with battery longevity. Also, although a nice light mower, it does not create the venturi effects of gas and puck up debris. Ill likely switch back to gas once the battery completely dies vs buying a new battery

Old ‘Barnaby baby,’ what a dude, pitching his heart out for Ego/ Chervon/ Flex! I actually like Burnaby, from the days of that Tool test channel he used to host. I hate to admit it, but Ive done the research, and EGO looking alright?! I recently tried out the new 40 Volt Ryobi Whisper Series 730 CFM blower, that came with two 4.0 Ah batteries. Batteries run down too quickly, and they’re real slick, easy to drop, and too big to carry the extra one in a pocket! Blower is really good, and on Turbo, really moves the air. It just deserves better batteries! The Cruise control switch is lousy design. Ima picking up a 765 CFM EGO at my local Lowe’s. Peace
Just be sure to register your purchases for the warranty. My Ego battery would not charge a year after having the mower. Called the warranty department. They mailed a new battery.
I've been using this battery hard, I'll pay for the research tone if it's done right. I know a thing about power storage and super-capacitors. This one has good cutoff and temp charge delay, kinda about like spektrum batteries are, if used right, they keep things safe. I'll let ya'll know in a year how long this one will last since it's only a 2.5 ah battery.
I just ran the EGO weed wacker after I got it earlier today. The battery out of the box was in the RED so I fully charged it. Now I've run the battery down one notch, four green lights remaining. I want to use it hard tomorrow. Is it OK to fully charge it even though it's 80% charged or should I run it all the way until the red light comes on?
Yes, it is Ok, but here you should go like the old saying says, ‘middle of the road.’ I would use it some more, and when you get to one segment on the gauge, recharge it. Try to avoid real extremes in temperature, and don’t leave it on the charger, or left on concrete floor, or in direct sunlight. These modern batteries don’t need to be run all the way down, and can be charged at different levels. They should be stored at 40% +/- charge. Common sense, really. Peace
i have 3 batteries for ego lawn mower, blower, when i charge them they have a burning smell and if i sniff the charger without the battery and not plugged in it has that same burning smell, the ego lawn mower lasts about 15 minutes and the 615 blower lasts around 10 minutes tops

Hi There, To obtain the longest possible battery life, it's a best practice to unplug the charger and remove the lithium-ion battery pack when not in use. For the lithium-ion battery pack storage longer than 30 days: Store the lithium-ion battery pack where the temperature is below 80 Degrees Fahrenheit and free of moisture. Store lithium-ion battery packs in a 30%-50% charged condition Every 6 months of storage, fully charge the lithium-ion battery pack. Hope this helps!
I have 6 of these batteries and they all died at the same time. So, I have all these tools that I can’t use right now. I’ve been debating whether or not to replace the batteries or to just move on to different tools.
How does the 3 year warranty work? How do you know which generation of the battery you have? Here in 2022 I just picked up the 2021 weed wacker w/ the adjustable aluminum shaft.
Hello. My 1st gen blower quit working but the battery is still green circle. Will this 1st gen battery work on a newer blower? To add a second battery basically. The EGO LB4800 I believe is the model I have.
Hi There, Yes, all batteries will work with all tools whether they are G1 or G2 w/ fuel cells. Old tools will work with new batteries. Hope this helps!
How do I store mine and why do my new ones smell sort of like sweet chemical while charging?? I'm scared of it. 😞😦 I don't know if it's okay and im a girl and new to all of this but just bought the EGO snowblower
I have been satisfied with ego mower and blower since 2020, but the battery has an issue this year. I haven’t used it that much (about 10 times oer year) and always kept the baerry inside of my house. I called to Ego and I found out my battery warranty was till last year. Coincidentally the battery has an issue right after warranty period. Now I am afraid to buy eGo battery to replace my failed battery. It is not cheap battery but if it fails again......
Hi There, Thanks for your patience! We reached out to EGO and they recommended you reach out to the EGO warranty team to find a fix for this issue. Here is the phone number: 1-855-346-5656
I have an Ego mower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, snow blower, chain saw and 3 batteries. I regret buying all of them, their warranty dept is horrendous and wouldn't help me with a leaf blower (I ended up getting a craftsman) and all 3 batteries have now taken a dump. To replace all 3 im looking at nearly $700 or even more to get larger capacity ones. I think im going to phase myself back to gasoline options.
I was charging my battery and blew the breaker half way through the charge. Now the battery won't charge more than half way. Is there a fix or am I just S.O.L. ?
I have a leaf blower which is great, and I use it twice a month in the fall, I purchased it about 4 years ago. However the batteries seem to be rubbish, and expensive, and my 2nd battery has just died, searching the web - it seems the battery is not very reliable, I will be looking for a better quality product.
My OEM 2.5 Ah only lasted 3 1/2 years with VERY little home use. Google said 10 years battery life 😮 I think an aftermarket one might be a better option when you look at the price of OEM and short life 😭😭
My ego battery died out after 3 1/2 years of running, bought a new battery, and within 2 weeks my charger quit on me, shelled the cash out to replace both, but long term, I will probably go with a Stihl trimmer
EGO in Australia are just well below par for battery quality and service. I moved to Ozito and have not had one issue with my seven batteries that are much cheaper. I have eight Ozito tools and two Ryobi tools and five Ryobi batteries. The Ryobi batteries still going strong since 2017. EGO batteries are hit and miss. Poor quality and too heavy and expensive. My three EGO batteries didn't make one year. I wouldn't use EGO ever again, even if I was given them for free. Too many red lights flashing on my batteries, sometimes after ten minutes of use. Never had issues with Ozito or Ryobi. I've done multiple reviews on all three brands. The 36V (2×18V) 14 inch chainsaws are amazing. So good in fact, I bought a second one. Same with the 36V mower. Just great. And of I ever do have an issue, Bunnings Australia are great with returns. EGO are very poor with warranty and service. Even my local hardware store that sells EGO says the company is difficult to deal with.
Nothing but problems with the batteries. Once they go out of warranty, look out because the 10ah battery is $500 and the 5.0 ah is $250 a piece. At that point it’s almost better to buy a new power tool because the battery purchase is about the same cost at the tool w the batteries. Ugh
My EGO battery charges and then when I plug it into the EGO leaf blower it runs for a minute and stops. Does this mean the battery is longer useful? Is there an EGO battery exchange program?
Hi Thomas, For batteries and chargers, there is a 3 year limited warranty for consumer use. If it falls in this bucket, they can reach out to EGO Customer Service Toll-Free at 1-855-346-5656 to process a warranty claim. Hope this helps!
WARNING! If you keep these in your house or garage-they can be a house fire starter. I am now going back to plug in and gas tools. That battery can be more dangerous than a gas can! If we can go to a battery that doesn’t contain lithium or other alkali metal then we can get somewhere.
Ego has had a battery quality control problem in the last couple of years. I have had better luck with the generic knockoffs from Amazon, and they cost half the price.
The battery life varies based on how long you're doing the project and at what setting. For example, there is a higher and medium strength setting on a blower. If you're using the higher setting for an hour, the battery will die much faster vs. medium setting. Hope this helps!
once they left Home Depot I didn't take that as a good sign despite they're good equipment the batteries are spendy and maybe too complex and sketchy as to how reliable they they are. Like I said Home depot dropping them I considered a bad sign
What you need to know about E-GO batteries is they have TERRIBLE heat sensitivity and no longevity. 3 of my 4 have failed after 1 season. (I tried to use them as pro. Bad idea) and I actually had a customer service operator hang up on me when I said I hadn’t registered the batteries. (That was when the first one died) another one fallowed each week. I have one 2.5 left. So I can work for 10minutes between one hour recharges!🤗 oh, joy
@@AceHardware The reason I ask how long the battery lasts is because mine takes one hour to charge and I get 30 minutes or less. I see they have the 12mah out now and that will also fit. But we are looking at $1100 for two batteries on a 21". Pretty dollars spent.
I have bought some additional batteries to use in my EGO 21 inch mower. While shopping for batteries, I compared the Ah rating of each battery and the price. I was looking for a "sweet spot". For me, the "sweet spot" was to purchase 2 of the 5 Ah batteries. I found that 2 of the 5 Ah batteries could be purchased for about the same price as the 7.5 Ah battery. Oh course, the mower runtime is not as long, but I do like the lighter weight of the 5 Ah battery. I also use these in other EGO tools that I have.
what a load of bullshit , I have a 56 volt ego chain saw , and the battery fucked up , now what , they all fuck up , so what I have to buy a new $250 battery now , or I will just sell it like it is
There are a ton of ignorant comments in here. Ego warranties their batteries for three years. If you have a problem with one after a year or two, they will send you a replacement at no cost. No lithium ion battery lasts much more than three years. Expect to replace a battery pack every three years.
EGO IS #1 IN GARBAGE BATTERIES..... Ive had 8 die right around when the warranty ran up as of now, EGOS customer service is 1000% hot garbage just like their batteries. Every time I left a review on their website they deleted it, no wonder why they have all 5* reviews. Do yourself a favor and buy anything else.
EGOs battery program seems like a scam! Mine just quit working right after the warranty ran out. Works like new for the first 3 years....then whammo. Their costumer support wishes you best of luck after the 3rd year! Insanely expensive to replace. Super disappointed in their business model!
The Batteries do not hold charges long after the first year. I have 4 EGO devices and 3 chargers and batteries. The battery only holds a 10 to 12 minute charge. The chargers will not allows work. I have to charge all Batteries on one or 2 chargers
There is so much bullshit MISINFORMATION in this video. A 10.0 battery will absolutely put out WAY more power than a 2.5. While a 10.0 does have more runtime, it ALSO gives you more power.
These batteries do not work good, you can only charge them a few times and they stop charging. They also run down fast . This company dies not replace the batteries. So you are stuck with an expensive battery that does not work.
I'm entering my third season of using the same batteries for my mower and other tools, no issues yet. I store mine in the cool basement to charge. Your mileage may vary.
Just started third season using EGO string trimmer and blower. Amazing power in these tools and batteries so far have been fast charging and excellent.
What? I charge all three of my ego batteries in a hot garage and let them sit on the charger when not in use. I've been doing this for 4 years. I take zero steps to try and preserve the battery, yet I have not seen any performance loss at all. I use them regularly on a .5 acre lot in the south.
Had 2 since 2014, mower 4 amp and blower/weedeater 2 amp. That’s in Florida and doing 2 yards weekly…. Still working. You either did something really wrong or got a bad battery. Either way it’s covered under warranty.

I have a red light on my charger and it says that the battery could be too hot or too cold.
Hi There,
Thanks for your patience! We reached out to EGO and they recommended you reach out to the EGO warranty team to find a fix for this issue. Here is the phone number: 1-855-346-5656
I haven't had any problems with greenworks batteries for the last 8 years
I have an Ego mower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, snow blower, chain saw and 3 batteries.
Why is my battery green light flashing. It's only 2 years old and not used very much. Thanks
Hi There,
Is it flashing when it's on the charger?
@@AceHardware Not sure if it flashes on the charger it's on the trimmer right now and it's fully charged and flashing while on the trimmer.
I was charging my battery and blew the breaker half way through the charge. Now the battery won't charge more than half way. Is there a fix or am I just S.O.L. ?
Nothing? Just SOL I guess? Was truly hoping that you guys actually watched the comments.
Google said 10 years battery life 😮 I think an aftermarket one might be a better option when you look at the price of OEM and short life 😭😭
OMG--That's "Barnaby" from my hometown (Grand Rapids, MI) Wood TV 8!
It is indeed!
My ego battery died out after 3 1/2 years of running, bought a new battery, and within 2 weeks my charger quit on me, shelled the cash out to replace both, but long term, I will probably go with a Stihl trimmer
interesting, never knew that about batteries
Can you replace a 42 deck with a 54 deck
Hi Sid,
You cannot. Different configuration for both units & would void warranty. Sorry!
Can't believe he just threw that across the room👍👍. But I'm glad because now I'm ok if I accidentally drop my battery ill know it will be ok.
Anyone can tell me why their chargers are making so much noise when charging a battery or is this normal that we have to live with it?
Hi Rico,
The noise is normal. It is the fan-cooled charging system working to prevent overheating during the charging process. Hope this helps!
Went to my local Ace… they had no clue about Ego. They had never heard of the brand and told me they don’t carry it.
Hey There - What store was it?

Commercial operators are experiencing substantial battery fail rates after a few months usage in the real world. Sydney, Australia.
Ugh
after 2 years the batteries run only 10 miutes
My EGO battery charges and then when I plug it into the EGO leaf blower it runs for a minute and stops. Does this mean the battery is longer useful? Is there an EGO battery exchange program?
Hi Thomas,
For batteries and chargers, there is a 3 year limited warranty for consumer use.
Just had two of their batteries die in sequence after 3 years total use. As they are so expensive I think I’ll go back to petrol lawn mower
My luck I'll end up buying the battery he threw across the floor.
Brah i need the biggest battery i cant even cut my lawn on 2 charge... plus alway shuting down if it incounters some tall grass
Ego has had a battery quality control problem in the last couple of years. I have had better luck with the generic knockoffs from Amazon, and they cost half the price.
How come they never tell how long the batter last? Please stop skipping over that part!!!
Sales promo. No trouble shooting.
How long should the new Lithium 10 MaH battery last in my little 56V 21" mower. $500 plus tax better give me 3 hours run time. Haha.
Hi Art,
If the battery model # ends in a T it is the latest version. Anything that ends with a number could be an older version. Hope this helps!
I have 3 of Ego batteries and all of them are worthless after 2-3 years of use, maybe 20 times a year tops.
what a load of bullshit , I have a 56 volt ego chain saw , and the battery fucked up , now what , they all fuck up , so what I have to buy a new $250 battery now , or I will just sell it like it is
Better to buy the tool with a battery than trying to buy just the battery. Batteries are far to expensive! You price them out of many peoples range.
Bought a ego leaf blower and the batter only charged twice and now isn’t charging anymore. pos product
I bought and returned ego blower and trimmer. Batteries suck.
Never explained what 2.5 or 10.0 MAH meant.
The Batteries do not hold charges long after the first year. I have 4 EGO devices and 3 chargers and batteries. The battery only holds a 10 to 12 minute charge. The chargers will not allows work. I have to charge all Batteries on one or 2 chargers
I agree, other than it's a "gas tank". They should explain how long the battery lasts while under certain loads.
EGO has the worst customer service help line I have ever experienced. Stay away from EGO products.
It suck that all you need to know
Dudes laugh in the red is so fake 😆
Ego battery is scam , after 3 years all my battery died and I have 10 of them very disappointed,no more electric tools or cars.
These batteries SUCK! Mine lasted a little over 1 year in a blower. Way to expensive to replace. Going back to gasoline.
Try buying a different brand
garbages last 2 yr or less….
Crap batteries. Grossly overated products.
There is so much bullshit MISINFORMATION in this video.
A 10.0 battery will absolutely put out WAY more power than a 2.5. While a 10.0 does have more runtime, it ALSO gives you more power.
ego power is. scam
I've had the same experience except I've had less than 1 season worth of use on mine. I've always followed manufacturer's recommendations. My 10AH battery lasts less than 30 minutes with no load.
EGO BATTERY ONLY WORKS 20 MIN. AND STOP WORK, AND THEN TAKE HOUR AND 20 IN. TO CHARGE, INFORMATION OUT THE BOX SAYS THE BATTERY WORKS FOR MORE THAN 90 MIN FULLY CHARGED AND IT IS NO TRUE, THIS IT IS A FRAUD ,I THINKA LOT IS SAYD THATTHEY ARE VERY GOOD TOOLS IS NOT .
Those batteries are a big ripoff they last nothing and they are so expensive ridiculous
Yup. Mine failed within 3 years, they replaced them with batteries failing in less than about 6 months of use. Of course, they won't replace those.
