I remember being sent to Sunday school as a child and sensing the bullshit. Despite my parents efforts I have always seen it for the nonsense that it is. I think its weird that you can spot a Christian without them even opening their mouth.
The concept of sin always seemed nonsensical to me, even when I was a believer. After more than 3 decades away from Christianity, I feel more moral and compassionate than before. @@adamburwell4081It means "to set aside for special purpose", but I assume you're using it to mean "to make holy". Which does nothing to refute what the original poster said and is probably a preprogrammed response you were taught to recite without thinking. You do need a book to show you how to conduct your life and you need the Bible, which is no ordinary book! Repeating the next sin is not showing true repentance.
@brendakemp9060 Yes some Christians can be judgemental, but we are not perfect. Only Christ is, so that's why we try to imitate Him with the guidance of Holy Spirit. Here's a few verses that Jesus talks about, regarding this issue of judgement. Matthew 7: 1-5 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
I love the "you just want to sin" argument. I 'drifted away' from the church in my early teens and am just about as straight-laced and buttoned down as anyone i know. And much more so than most devoted believers I know. It's just a way for believers to call someone evil for not believing the utter crap they believe while not bothering to find out anything about them. The biggest thing they could hit with me with as far as sin is that I dont hate the people they hate because their book tells them to hate them. In that, guilty as charged.
Considering in that context they are as much victims of their religion as the people they've been taught to harrass. Having said that, when attempting to learn new things one can’t probably help receiving disinformation or even misunderstanding the dependable down the road, but each and everyone's still responsible for not spreading it further, at least not without first confirming the authenticity of it. Today there's an abundance of every possible depot containing actual facts, but one must have the will to look for them in the first place. The desire to understand should always be bigger than the need to believe.
The irrationality too. To sin, you have to believe that there's a god. If you believe in a god then sin to have a good time, you're not an atheist. You're an idiot!
Wow this is eye opening. If Christians can accept others not returning to their church or faith then maybe they can accept Jesus isn’t coming back too. Hey they can pat themselves on the back for waiting several thousand years and move on.
People are fleeing from religion because we are living in the information age. People are much more questioning and skeptical than previous generations. Dont blame the non-believers. Blame your omnipotent god for failing miserably at revelation!! 🤣🤣🤣
Holding on to a stone old book with stories collected by people who had no idea about the rest of the world. It is indeed time that we ditch that book.
I questioned the nun while teaching us RI why she kept contradicting her self, she told me to’ have faith’ At 12, this was the beginning of my enlightenment to atheism.
At 68, I'm a tail-end baby boomer who stopped believing in my lateens and stopped attending church services - the occasional unavoidable hatches, matches and dispatches aside - as soon as I left home. It's not an institution I feel like subsidising, and though perhaps calling it a criminal enterprise might be a bit strong, it's moral habits leave lots to be desired.
If a church or a parish eventually gets shut down due to far too small a number of members, it should be an obvious sign to anyone it doesn’t fill its purpose in a functioning local society anymore. It shouldn’t try to lure people attending by offering them secular diversions instead either, hence that clearly demonstrates the services on their own don’t appeal as such to the enlightened and progressive majority of the population. That tells instead quite a bit about the attendants’ integrity, authenticity and foremost honesty, if they don't any longer have to fear - or care about, for that matter - being ostracized by some ingroup of the community previously partaken in. If anything, it’s a solid proof that naturalism is by right and about time replacing superstition.
Excellent news the ongoing collapse of religious rubbish, in the UK where i live, it's heartwarming to see abandoned churches, and Bibles do make good bog paper, a fine example of up cycling 😊
This is called cutting out the middleman. These folks claim god wrote his “perfect” book, so what’s the church for? More people are actually READING the book, not just the cherrypicked “good” bits that preachers direct you to, but ALL of it. Then they read the ridiculous rules about splashing blood correctly, rules on mixing fabrics, rules that say menstruation is “unclean” & a curse, rules on how to beat your slaves, rules on stoning non virgin women (not men though cos religion), the endless ordained genocide & more obviously the endless repetition (“an aroma pleasing to the lord”, burning animals, was stuck in my head for weeks) , interminable lists of names, polygamous kings held up as virtuous & “good” men getting drunk then bedding their daughters etc, etc. As an atheist who likes to be able to defend his position the first thing I did was READ the Bible. It’s a slog, I recommend the audiobook but please, give it a try? It’s a revelation but not the kind that cassock guy thinks it is. The Bible is THE number one creator of atheists. Years back folks just went to church got read the sermon on the mount then just went about their business unaware of the awful nature of the rest of this fantasy anthology. Not any more.
If by "being a bit wild" he does mean, "left god so as to sin", this is indeed a pathetic argument. Most of the people I know who are atheists live lives in service of family, friends and charitable actions. If the only thing stopping a person from raping, murdering and stealing is the fact they believe they're being watched and judged by Mr. Sky Beard then maybe they should check themselves in somewhere for treatment. Often, believing in The Hand That Points gives a person a sense that the horrendous acts they perform are righteous. Some still carry out heinous crimes knowing how wrong they are, even though they believe their sky daddy is watching them whilst they do it. I do not believe I am on heavenly CCTV, and yet feel no desire to harm, physically or otherwise, my fellow apes. Have they never heard of "empathy"? It was instilled in us long before organised religions became a popular drug.

"If you are an atheist, thats your choice." Maybe. Is there something wrong with choice? "So why the “I’m more moral than bible believers are” comment?" Really? If you worship the god of the bible, you worship a god who created a special place with the purpose of burning forever those who do not choose for him. If you worship the god of the bible you worship a god who at some point delibererately murdered all babies and children by slowly drowning them in a planned and systematic manner. If you believe in the god of the bible, you believe in a god who thinks stoning gay people and non-believers to death and beating up slaves should be regular practice. "What is the moral measure stick if there is no God?" I would prefer the morals of any random stranger over the insane brutality of the god of the bible any day of the week. "No creator? Then this existence came out of nothing." How so? And what materials did your god use to create the universe? And where did those materials come from? And where did your god come from? "But how can nothing collide and create something?" Why would you ask something like that? I have never heard anyone claiming such a thing. "where atheist and big bang theory have their issues as well." I wonder if you even understand what atheism means and what the Big Bang is.

First understand what is religion, it is a paradigm, a social construct i.e. politic. Catholics, being more polytheist, are ore open to the idea of democracy, Protestants are strictly monotheist, like Muslims, are more open to dictatorship. Historically, churches created schools and promoted so their view on the world. Education IS manipulation. For a long time, I couldn't understand why, in the US, people would vote Republican, now I see more how education looks like, see "Prager U".
My thoughts on that are a bit different, interesting point... I'd say catholics have a pope who mirrors the dictator-function... and protestants somehow each do their own thing... lots of denominations... you're probably right about the Muslims, usually they're very willfully ignorent about scientific facts... and they're very weird in the sense that they consider themselves individually inferior but as a group superior...

Which does nothing to refute what the original poster said and is probably a preprogrammed response you were taught to recite without thinking. Sanctification is not for sinners, it's for the already saved to "make their bodies holy". It has nothing to do with the concepts of sin or forgiveness or morality.
You do need a book to show you how to conduct your life and you need the Bible, which is no ordinary book! Repeating the next sin is not showing true repentance.
I find Christians to be pretty judgemental .
@brendakemp9060
Yes some Christians can be judgemental, but we are not perfect. Only Christ is, so that's why we try to imitate Him with the guidance of Holy Spirit. Here's a few verses that Jesus talks about, regarding this issue of judgement.
Matthew 7: 1-5
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Very well put.
If I wanted to sin I would be a Christian as you can do what you want and just ask for forgiveness from invisible sky daddy
@@thecommonsensechannel6268 Precisely.
And if you don't sin, Jesus died for nothing!

Father Casey is like a child that believe in Santa. No big difference. Santa has no fantasy book though.
"invisible" god, created by man
People created cultures. Cultures created religion. People created religion.
god exists in the place where they're sure science won't be looking for him... outside space and time...
Not only invisible, but surprisingly indistinguishable from a non-existing deity.
He is trying to be too clever. Hard not to see through him.
Great vid!

Separate money from faith and there's nothing left
The statement is pure ignorance.
“Leave those kids alone”
That’s definitely not the first time someone has said that to a church leader

Despite the flaws of organized religion, there is nothing flawless in the teachings of Jesus Christ. I believe in them 100% and do my best to follow them. Childish slave minded rubbish.

If you are an atheist, thats your choice. So why the “I’m more moral than bible believers are” comment? Why argument your moral value or status ? What is the moral measure stick if there is no God? No creator? Then this existence came out of nothing. But how can nothing collide and create something ? Nothing is the definition of nothing. The lack of anything and everything. But someone all we know came from nothing. See I understand how people get all twisted it up about morality and how bad Christians are but also recognize where atheist and big bang theory have their issues as well.
"If you are an atheist, thats your choice."
Maybe. Is there something wrong with choice?
"So why the “I’m more moral than bible believers are” comment?"
Really? If you worship the god of the bible, you worship a god who created a special place with the purpose of burning forever those who do not choose for him. If you worship the god of the bible you worship a god who at some point delibererately murdered all babies and children by slowly drowning them in a planned and systematic manner. If you believe in the god of the bible, you believe in a god who thinks stoning gay people and non-believers to death and beating up slaves should be regular practice.
