You forgot to address the fact that: "IM NOT AFRAID OF U" is a feral reaction. Not a genuine one. It won't change their belief. It just simply reflects that their belief is hypocritical. And they will abandon it when they feel threatened, and crawl back to it at earliest convenience.

If he was like this then it feels weird to have a god that plagues people tells them to enslave others sacrifice and kill others AND not be feared. Seems rather counter intuitive
I notice a lot of people in the comments say this isn't an accurate interpretation of god. This is amusing, as I don't think any human being could actually give an "accurate" interpretation of "god".
As a bad Catholic, you go to hell if you commit mortal sins, with knowing they are mortal sins, and feeling no remorse for them. Hell is a place that is total separation from God, where people go if they didn’t want God in their mortal lives. Of course God takes circumstances into consideration. You can also go to purgatory to then get to heaven eventually. If you aren’t any religion that believes in God then God judges justly and not just “Oh well you didn’t worship me now go burn for all of eternity.” Then again we are human, and we don’t know about our creator, so we all just hope for the best after death!
@@Ash_quacks Well, I hope He also takes into consideration that He often looks like, a jealous, questionably competent... and fairly pathological, maniac, in a lot of the older stories about Him? When He targeted, gas-lit... and then ended the lives... of 70,000 Hebrews, one time? After compelling their own king, to violate a ceremonial technicality, also. As this can indeed, make many (kids included - and not just Bathsheba's) not, want anything... to do with Him.
One side effect of religion that goes unnoticed more often than not is just how badly the concept of a healthy relationship with anyone is screwed over for believers. If the central relationship in one's life is supposed to involve groveling in terror at an angry loved one's feet, under threat of torture, what does that say about the right way to treat other people? I have heard Christians talk so much about a "relationship with God" but so many of them have so much trouble maintaining relationships with humans.
RUSSIAN ROBOT I’m not one to say there is no god but honestly I see no reason to think there is one and even if there is, I fail to see what it would have to do with truth other then the fact it existed. I mean if there is a god it literally effects nothing in my daily life.... nor anyone else’s so far as I can see. In other words if there is a god which can not be substantiated or observed in any meaningful way I don’t really understand why it is important.
RUSSIAN ROBOT Ok, that’s all good and well but please explain if this seemingly hidden entity exists and man kind has had no need for it why should I care or need to believe in it? As I have said there very well could be some all powerful being out there however unlikely. My only real contention is if there is a god it has most likely never interacted with human beings and very clearly has no interest in doing so, therefore if this god does exist I will remain indifferent towards it until it can be properly substantiated. My biggest problem with the god question isn’t really a problem with there being a god, it is the absurdities and harm caused by primitive world religions claiming to know the mind of such a being.
RUSSIAN ROBOT Why do you think my ego is getting in the way? I don’t experience a god because there is literally no reason to think there is one. More over please explain what you mean by “there is no me and no you.” I feel quite confident in my existence or at least as confident as one can be in reality. Of course I have to ask, are you advocating on behalf of a particular god or just a god in general?
My grandfather was a practicing Buddhist for his whole life, and everyone knew him to be the nicest, most compassionate person. The amount of sacrifice he went through as a Vietnam war refugee was unparalleled. He passed away a few years ago, and I talked to one of my friends (who happens to be Christian) about him. My friend had the nerve to tell me that my grandfather was going to Hell for not believing in the same religion as him! Imagine that! Imagine telling somebody that their grandfather who just died is suffering eternally for not believing in something very specific, even though everyone knew him as one of the most selfless, thoughtful people ever!
@R Z Religion poisons everything. BELIEF harms no one, but RELIGION is the most vile thing ever concocted by man. More heinous than a thousand atom bombs.
All go to Sheol/hades. It's simply the grave. Tarturus is a place for fallen angels. And Gehenna is a valley outside of Jerusalem where the dead bodies of criminals were burned. These words were all translated to hell by the Catholic Church to scare people into obeying the church.
Christianity cannot hold a candle to Buddhism, its hard to even say that Buddhism is a religion, its more just clarity of thought. Most religions cloud thought and make people vile and do horrendous things in the name of their false God. I am not Buddhist, but have a lot of respect for it... Your grandfather sounds like he is worth more than any of these Christian wack jobs. I always say to people that say things like that. If you are going to be in heaven for eternity then I don't want to be there with you!!!

@@saveristovski1985 well for starters I used to be a Christian so I know how most think. I have read the bible. In basic training it was the only book we could read. The reason I'm not Christian anymore is because of "proof" which the bible is lacking. The bible was written by man. Who's to say they didnt just make stuff up to fit their needs like EVERY religion/belief/gods before them? There are too many logical inconsistencies in the bible. Issues that clearly exist because it was written by incompetent man. Pretty sure God would have seen the flaws if he gave it to them. Books can be useful, however fictional books like the bible are used for entertainment/persuasive purposes. Your entire belief in your religion is based on faith. Without it, you have no proof. Faith is not something you can use to prove god exist. I used to think I felt God's presence as a Christian. I can still have that euphoric feeling and not believe in him. Its all chemicals in the body, not God. If you actually used some critical thinking skills while reading the bible, you'd see how crazy religion is. A wise woman once said, "2 hands working can accomplish more than a thousand clasped in prayer."
I remember when I first saw this video, on the day it was released. I was finishing up my first year of university, and I was struggling to reconcile the faith I held in my adolescence with all the new and seemingly contradictory things I was seeing now that I was out in the real world. I had been having doubts for years, and that had caused me a massive amount of anxiety and stress, but this video allowed the last piece to click into place in my mind and let me free myself from the very unhealthy way I thought about my faith growing up. I was on a very self-destructive path at that time, in large part because of the aforementioned cognitive dissonance, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that seeing this video when I did may have saved my life. Sometimes (like today) I like to come back to this video to remind myself how far I've come and how much I've improved my life since that day. So thank you for that DM, I look forward to enjoying your content for another 6 years.

This video is basically one of Marcus Aurelius's best quotes. "Live a good life. If there are gods, but are unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones." Edit: I see you guys have been debating in the replies. It's fine to state your point of view and opinions but don't obsess over trying to prove a point to people on the internet that you've never met and will probably never meet.
My father is deeply christian, and so am I. Throughout my childhood, he read me the Bible and spoke about what he's read, questioning and explaining how he saw it. He never forced any specific understanding on me, and I've grown to understand God and the Bible by myself, but the one thing I remember about my father's words - is that God is a person. That's what the video is about.
i see the bible as corrupt whether or not god exist won't change that fact. because if he stopped people from corrupting it that would mean we don't have free will. and the same can be said for hell,if it exist then we don't have free will because we're oppressed by a future threat,it's rokos basilisk but worse because ignorance can save you from rokos basislisk.
Just a convo that I think should've been added. Marcus: But why send Samuel to heaven? He hated you- God: NO! He hated _your_ idea of me. He hated the me that tortured his children for not believing, he hated the me that justified crimes as long as it was under my name, he hated the bigotry, the racism, the homophobia, the hate, *your hate* against others unlike you was what he truly hated.
Yes! That would have REALLY driven the point home, I think! I also think though that it may incite a more adverse reaction to those lost in their faith. This keeps it a lot more human, and makes it feel like a conversation between being on equal footing rather than a conversation between humans and God.
That is quite literally why I left the church and denounced my faith. Should there be a higher being, I'll find out when I see him for myself without the influence of mankind.
Well yeah. People don't realize that religion and faith are two different things. I have so much faith that God existed but I never believed that being religious would save you. Religion is just a culture and never about faith.
@@erikjones75 yes it is confusing because a religious person will proudly say that they are faithful, but to whom? To their religion or to God? God will always be there even if there is no religion invented. So you may have faith even if you do not follow any religion.

The Bible says he is like this. People need to stop cherry picking verses and read the whole Bible in its entirety of its context. Edit as of October 7th, 2024: It’s about time I make something clear. You people NEED TO READ THE WHOLE BIBLE IN IT’S ENTIRETY. CONTEXT IS KEY. God does NOT send people to Hell. People are already on their way to Hell. They’re tortured by their own guilt. Their guilt feels like fire. Give a man a fish, he’s fed for a day. Teach a man to fish, he’s fed for a lifetime. God has taught us how to receive His grace and save us from our sins. If you have got a problem with people going to Hell, don’t point your finger at God. You people get mad at God for letting murder and rape happen, for letting children hunger and thirst. You should instead take it up with those murderers and rapists. Why is it the obligation of God to stop rape and murder, when instead those who would rape and murder should not make those choices? Why scold God for letting children hunger and thirst, when YOU can give them food and water? Do not lie to yourselves. You have at least a few bucks to spare for a meal to give to someone. What of those celebrities with their many millions of dollars? Many children are without loving families, they’re orphans. Many veterans rely on donations because their government has deemed them useless and turned their backs on them. Veterans fought for you, isn’t the least that you can do is to provide them a single warm meal? Why even fight in wars? Soldiers are the pawns of old men who have petty arguments. People have died over land, over money, yet you point your fingers and blame God for it? He has the power to stop it, yes, but so do we. Imagine if all the Chinese citizens, the Russians, the Americans, Israelis, Palestinians, Ukrainians, just decided that they don’t want to kill each other any more. What then? Why don’t we just talk things out? We CAN. We CHOOSE not to. Against natural disasters, God can help us. Against war, famine, poverty, we can help each other. God doesn’t send people to Hell. We send ourselves. We can choose Heaven, everyone can, they just have to repent. And no, babies don’t go to Hell because they couldn’t repent, you people need to read the Bible. You wag your finger at me for defending my faith, but you should take a moment to examine things for yourself.
@@captainsprinkles6557 No he doesn’t. Jesus Christ was always the plan. Hell was not made for Mankind. God wants everyone in Heaven. He put himself in the place of everyone that deserves to go to Hell. God became a man to live the perfect life we all should live, and then he experienced all the pain we would have if we were judged. When we are judged, Jesus is put on trial and having lived the life we should have lived, he allows us to enter Heaven as pure beings after being forgiven. God exists outside of time and space, since he created time and space. Most of everyone before Jesus, was sentenced to Hell. God could not let them enter Heaven because they weren’t pure beings. It got so bad that God decided ti flood the world. That still didn’t fix things, and he hated seeing his children suffer for things they couldn’t control. So he took their place. Everyone that was ever in Hell, was given another chance, all they had to do was be truly sorry and willing to accept that Jesus saved them. People send themselves to Hell, but because God didn’t want that for his children, he decided to cheat his own rules and take our place.

“God fearing” always felt wrong to me when my family or others (since I grew up in a Christian family home) used the phrase. Why would anyone want to praise and believe in a being that puts fear into you? Never sat right with me. Loved this video
The Otaku Galaxy Except God would be responsible for allowing hell to exist and not letting e.g. non-believers have access to any of his goodness, even when people honestly don’t believe in him due to a lack of evidence. Why carve out this part of the universe for the “sinners” by God’s standards? This is fear of a totalitarian God at its finest.
@The Otaku Galaxy Well considering that within the Christian worldview, all fundamentally good things exist in heaven and with God, I don't see how that could possibly be the case. Within that worldview the analogy would be that the parents know what's best for the kid even if the kid doesn't, so even if somehow the kid just hates their parents and wants to "run away", it is still a negligent cruelty for the parents to allow their child to live on the streets. That is not mercy, and no amount of "free will" justifies it. That would be bad enough, except that not even that analogy makes sense, because people do not "choose" to be there. In fact, the kid usually doesn't even know their parents exist. The parents have not made any indication that their actions will actually lead them to hell (whatever you want to call hell). And still, their invisible parents banish them to the streets because of a system of rules that their kid does not even know exists, and that did not even HAVE to exist were it not for the parents coming up with those rules in the first place. You can do as many mental gymnastics as you want - every Abrahamic God would be a decidedly cruel being.
The Otaku Galaxy The thing is that within that ontology we are but puny ants that don’t know any better. It is gross negligence and child abuse to simply let your child live in the streets even if they say they want to. The child will indeed eventually come around. And “God” expects us to believe in him based on books of prose and poetry from centuries ago, in a sea of countless identical books? The bible is not evidence any more than the Quran or the Vedic texts. Any belief system can claim they have the word of God and by the very fact that the majority of people on earth are not, for example, Christian, we can know that that is not sufficient evidence.
You know? I consider myself as atheist. Pretty simple. This video answers why. God - if the one exists - if truly all wise and powerfull, *loving* person, would he bunish the non-believing good man over believing scum? No. No, he wouldn't. But who would? I think if there is a god and they wanted something specific from us, they would tell us in some way. Just another example showing if god exists, either they are not omnipotent or they are not totally benevolent. Epicurus' trilemma outlines this very well: *If God is unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.* *If God is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good.* *If God is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist?*
@@Proud_Knight This is a really good question, God seems to be all powerfull and able to prevent evil, atleast if we argue of the God in the Bible, he has stopped evil in the old testament before for an example the cananites with their child sacrifises, and he seems to be all powerful as he created the whole universe, but yeah, why does evil exist if that's the case? Well let's look at it this way, where did evil even come from? Well from the bible atleast, it comes from us humans, we were made in God's image, yet we choose to rebel and rule this earth as we want it to be, not how God wants it, and through out the whole bible we can see how immoral we really are, and we can even see that around us, wars, crimes, sex scandels, rape, tortureing people and so on. Now why doesn't God stop all of this? He can do it, so why not? Well let's go too Genesis, Adam and Eve were created in a good world as stated, they were warned not to take the fruit of the tree of good and evil, yet they choose to do it and rebeled, now let's imagine if God did stop them from taking the fruit, now what happened is that, Adam and Eve wanted to take the fruit, but God stoped them, ok moving on, now lets say they wanted to do this thing, and again God stoped them because it's evil and it continues and continues, the problem is, if God keeps stoping people from doing evil, he is ultimately taking our free will away, and we cant choose to do what we want, and that would make us more like robots then humans, because we arent allowed to choose our selves, this is the big issue with us and God, God wants us to be with him, but he doesn't force anyone to choose him, and we keep rebeling against him over and over and everyone will have to pay for their moral crimes, but even then God loves us, that he sent Jesus to die for our crimes, so we can go free and be with him if we choose to. More of the main point: God isn't stopping all the evil in the world, because we are the problem, and He wants us to be saved, more than we want it, yet He will let us choose where we want to spent eternity, with him or without him.
@@rubymaster_6869 Very well said. According to the bible, we exist because we have free will. If evil didn't exist, true freedom wouldn't either. Good actions require a struggle, an easier path to shun.

Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. God showed His love by suffering, dying on the cross and rising from the dead for you, now you show Love back by repenting of your sins (lying, stealing, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain etc) and believing in Jesus as your Lord and saviour so that Heaven is in your future not hell.
i used to watch this when i was younger and thought it was deep. i searched this up again now and man it's just cringe. atheists who feel morally superior to religious people are the worst, it's sad that some people don't grow out of that
@@ReynaLikk-yj4xwagreed, i wish more people understood that getting into heaven isnt about if GOD loves you, but rather if YOU love God. God loves all his creations, and wants to build a healthy relationship with everyone, but we reject him whenever we sin and choose not to follow Jesus’ teachings. We should all try to work towards loving God more rather than believing that simply acknowledging a higher power might exist is somehow showing love. Idk about you but if i was a parent and had children i loved, but one of them only pretended I existed when they wanted something from me, it would break my heart. People often say, “I’m not hurting anyone so it’s ok to sin (lying, stealing, sexual sins, disrespecting parents etc)” The same God who said to love your neighbour first said to love Him to the best of your ability. If you carry on sinning, then you do not love God but are selfish like the devil so you will be joined to your father in hell or repent of your sins and believe in Jesus as God so Jesus adopts you as His child and you will join Him in Heaven forever.

Agnostic means you don't know if there is a God. Knowing something and believing something can be different sometimes. If you believe that something set everything into motion and does not care what happens next, "the first mover", then you're a deist. Just like I'm an agnostic atheist; I don't KNOW if there's a god but I do not BELIEVE there is one. As for religion, well I think it is doing more harm than good in 2020. Also, there are so many conflicting religions available that there is no one true scripture to follow. If I were to follow one religion, I might be blaspheming another.

People mess up Old Testament with the New one. My interpretation of this video is that it actually speaks in favor of Christ since after him everyone is born forgiven through grace alone and one can only put himself in Hell for not loving himself. The only commandment in the new testament is "Love others like you love yourself", but from psychology: we need to love ourselves to love others. Not preaching though, I am barely a religious person or a psychologist for that matter. Hope I helped. ;)
@@mathcartoons so you’re saying people send themselves to hell for not loving themselves? People who don’t love themselves need therapy, and compassion to help them learn to love themselves. Wouldn’t a loving god help people with psychological issues?
i always thought... the whole point of christianity is "be a good person, or go to hell." so, really, if you're only good because you don't want to go to hell... if _you_ were an athiest, if _you_ didn't believe in god... would you still be good? This is my issue with christianity. you shouldn't do the right thing because you want to be safe. you should do the right thing because it's the right thing. EDIT: ive been corrected a bunch on this. being good does not get you to heaven. believing in what jesus teaches you, however, is what gets you to heaven. this includes, among other things, believing that god is real, and that jesus is the son of god. the other things in question (which to my understanding are the majority of his teachings) are different philosophies on how to be a good person. so the core remains the same. be a good person, but also believe jesus is the son of god.
@@eddieteddy273 I mean I'm a Muslim and I try to do good if I can. But I don't do it because it was ordered to me. I do it because it makes me feel good when I do good. Obviously I can't know for sure if a God exists, or if it does what kind of a being it is. Wich is why I don't care if you're an atheist or a Christian or Jewish. I care about people's personalities and so should everyone. If God exists and if it will judge us, only it will judge us. Not another human being. The whole point of Christianity is a relationship with the Father though the Holy spirit why way of the grace of God giving his Son as the perfect atonement for all of our sins. It was never about being good enough to avoid going to hell, that's pop "christianity" for you, it's a misconception even alot of "christians" have as well. Unfortunately when we make it about being good because "consequences" we miss the whole point. By putting our faith in our Savior and accepting his gift of salvation and by strengthening our relationship with him we can lead a more fulfilling meaningful life in which we can spread the good news to all who will hear. We do this not because we get some reward for bringing people to Christ, but because when you allow the Holy Spirit into your life He transforms you from the inside out; we share the gospel because we have learned to love those who we know not, those that persecute us, and everyone in between. Again, not because we're promised rewards, if anything we face mockery whenever we try to share the word of God. Really, there's no incentive to this. We deeply appreciate and thank the Lord for giving us the gift of salvation and when one comes to know the Lord in a personal relationship, we want everyone else to know the peace it brings to us as well. It also grieves us to bear the burden of knowing that people we love, people we meet, people we might not even know, are damned to hell due to the fallen nature of man that Adam and Eve put forth by disobeying God's commands not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. You see, God gave us free will; we choose to go our own way, make up deities in place of him, completely push away the idea of his existence, or we come to know him. This free will gives us the opportunity to find and reach out to him out of our own desire. After all, if we didn't have the free will to go our own way, and he forced us to worship him, that wouldn't be loving on his part, and neither would it be love on our part, it would be a master/slave relationship and that's not the type of relationship the Bible reveals to us that God has intended for. I hope this cleared up some stuff, but many people don't actually read their Bible and when you do it clarifies the picture tenfold over the doctrines and modifications that many churches throw in without any scripture to back it up. This is why christians really have to ACTUALLY read the Bible and not just rely on their pastors. God bless you all and I hope you guys have a pleasant day!

I find it interesting how god showed them a place that symbolises the flaws in each of their thinking. He showed the christian that the advancement of science and alternate religions and atheism is by god's will He showed the muslim that there is no chosen people and how arrogant it is to think that everything in the universe was created just for a few people He showed the atheist that it's impossible to fully understand and see what those in the past, those from when religions arose, saw and experienced. So you can't judge them so easily.
The problem I have in the video is the atheist is speaking to fake Christians and Fake Muslims. A Real Christian understands everything is by Gods design thus science is God's will as if God made the universe. than obviously he gave us the possibility to make technology lol, If you can't figure that out than that's ignorance (not you specifically lol). For the Muslim, if you read the Bible then you UNDERSTAND that the "Chosen People" are "Born Again Christians." The Bible is 1 story following 1 blood line to bring the saviour into the world. After Jesus died he made it very clear to get the message out to the rest of the world. The Chosen people aren't a Race, The Chosen People are those who belong to Christ and believe in him. people before Jesus was born were still Christians, as they were looking FORWARD to the Messiah, while we today look BACK at what he has done. They were all Christians, we only got the official name after Jesus Christ came to the world. As for the Atheist yeah most today are quick to judge, but if they actually just looked at the bible, understand the HISTORICAL EVIDENCE FOR ALOT OF THE STORIES IS REAL. than we can get a better understand. One important Historical evidence if you need one is the fact that it is true that 2000 years ago there was a man that lived named Jesus who died on a cross as Scientist have all the Evidence for it. NOW THE QUESTION IS, whether or not what he said was the truth, or was he really just a crazy dude. THAT, is what you need to look into. @freeshavo cado I am not sure., I don't really keep up on the terminology = If it means I believe in a single God - then yes - I don't think of God as a he, more of an existence so far my ability to understand or imagine . More like a when, or a musical note that makes the hair on my arm stick up. I believe that he'/it/when can make a rock so heavy that he/it/when cannot lift it. Then he/it/when will lift it after he has proven that it can be done. Not that he/it/when needs to prove anything - I just don't understand believers saying with God all things are possible and then they go and limit him = he can't look upon sin, he cant do that rock thing I mentioned, he can't make mistakes - why can't he make mistakes? Because WE say so? What a shitty thing to hang around the neck of someone we respect let alone worship in our own way. I cling to the all things are possible, that being the case God does not have to choose between being perfect and being mistake prone - all things are possible and just because I can't make it logically so only matters to this part of existence.... he/it/when can do both and also realizes me saying this is not to blaspheme or to insult - it is to release the self centered limitations we mortals place upon the Divine, that we cannot comprehend.

There are many atheists who are in a way , good role models for any religious person. They are the ones who do good deeds and follow a moral code not because they don't want to go to hell or they fear being punished by an omnipotent being but because its just in their nature.
That's true, I've seen morally good atheists and morally corrupt religious people. In my opinion religion doesn't seem to directly relate to people's morality. Certain fears like hell may push someone toward "doing what's right" more, but so do social standards. I believe when it becomes socially unacceptable to express fear and anger in a destructive way, humans can reach a level of peace we haven't seen in a while.
I was manager for a restaurant many years ago when I had a lady come up to me vehemently complaining about something or other, when out of the blue she asks me "Are you a Christian?" I told her that what I believe in are the values that good Christians (and good people in general) believe in: Treating others how you want to be treated, honest work, and self-improvement. Not for the sake of some higher-being, but just for the sake of how I want to live. That answer made her rock back on her feet, and she said "Wow...that's a much better answer than most Christians I know would give."
Wrong. We just do good things and live a good life because we want to be good people NOT because we are scared of hell or a god because we don’t believe they exist. We only get one life in this infinite cosmos you why would we make it unpleasant for other people.

As a Christian, I am not going to give up on God. I still believe Jesus is the only true God and I try my best not to be a hyporite, spread the love I'm commanded to spread it as best as I can, but of course, my love isn't perfect. None of ours is. I liked this video. And I really wish it was true... But, yeah... However, no matter whom one is, I love everyone equally as I would myself, just like Jesus taught. Christians who *hate* other people for their faith and/or orientation honestly should realize that you either love everyone or no one. And, I hate to admit it, I was like that myself... Now, I've matured in my faith behavior and love everyone equally, no matter who they are. But, I feel like I have to correct something from my point of view; Firstly, God doesn't want us to suffer. He doesn't want us to be tortured. Hell isn't literal fire, it's eternal separation from God which is only described as anguish and fire. No loving father wants his children to suffer, let alone does God want us to suffer, for eternity for that matter.. but, He would be going against Himself if He hadn't followed His own words and thus that would make Him a hyporite. He wants NOBODY to perish, it's just people who choose to not believe... Secondly, (quote from stpetervineyard.com) God doesn't want us to fear Him, he wants us to love him so much that we worship him, and live each and every day serving God with all our heart and soul. God does not say you have to be perfect or without sin. God wants us to worship Him, because He is the true source of happiness. He wants us to worship Him, because He wants us to be okay. He doesn't want us to worship because it benefits Him; it benefits us. But, again, no matter who one is, I love every single one person on this earth. At least, I try my best to... I loved the video, it's a very nice treat, honestly. I like the way you view God (and I also like the way you designed Him lol), even if I don't fully agree with it. Just wanted to share my views. I hope you all have a great day! :> Edit: Sorry if my English is a little broken, I was typing this in a bit of a hurry, heh..
Jasmer watching videos like this from various atheist channels prompted me to more deeply examine my beliefs. when I watched this the first time I was still terrified of hell and this reassured me that I wasn't going to hell for questioning. So I questioned further and that led me to leaving the faith entirely. As an atheist now this makes me hopeful that if I'm wrong and if there is a god, this might be what he's like. This video doesn't make me believe again but it makes me hope that religious extremists can see how brutal their beliefs are.
Glad you are no longer shackled by the notion of Hell. I was raised in Asian culture so I didn't grow up with Abrahamic faith, so I was spared much of the fear. Ultimately, I think the truth is unknowable: if there was a creator or underlying forces of the cosmos, whatever they plan or think would be beyond our ability to comprehend. Would a being of such a scale care if a handful of monkeys on a speck of dirt worship him every Sunday? Not likely. We don't know how the cosmos was created beyond the Big Bang theory. We don't know where souls, if they exist, go after death. Atheism by principle is a result from our inability to know these things, and it is fine. Theism partly stemmed from our desire to conquer these unknowns, but ultimately the scriptures are fragmented, corrupted, and divided through centuries in the hands of flawed humans, making their answers ultimately man made for all we know. As of now, there are more different beliefs than stars on the sky, and which one is true? We don't know, we may never will, and ultimately we may have to confront the ideas that there are things unknowable. Nonetheless, we know that we have the ability to strive forward, to live, to love, and to make the most of our limited time. We know that our time is finite and our lives fleeting, so can we truly afford to be weighed down by the unknowable? No, we have a limited time, and it's best and most beautiful to let our thoughts be free, to embrace it with goodness and kindness, to let it cherish the world as is, and to be at peace.

If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” just a thought i had
Marcus Aurelius there expressed his version of Epicurus's Paradox, which is as follows: "God, he says, either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or He is able, and is unwilling; or He is neither willing nor able, or He is both willing and able. If He is willing and is unable, He is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God; if He is able and unwilling, He is envious, which is equally at variance with God; if He is neither willing nor able, He is both envious and feeble, and therefore not God; if He is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils? Or why does He not remove them?"
Couldn't they make you change your mind about wanting to worship them, like, the second you're impaled on one of their burning stakes which prevents anyone stuck on it from dying? I mean, I guess you wouldn't actually want to worship them, but you might want to get on their good side to make it stop, right? This is a question I've asked a couple people: basically, if it turned out the creator and holder of supreme power over everything was actually the Devil, would you worship him? Most people I've asked said they wouldn't, but I don't think I can be honest with myself and say I wouldn't chicken out eventually.

I can explain it to you as ive come to understand it if you like. I cannot promise you will accept it though. Basically nothing does not exist which means there is always something. Because there is always something it means you will never find the end of existence. This means it goes on forever. This means it is infinite. If existence is infinite this means that everything must be happening all the time. Everything that could be is, will be and was at all given moments. This means that a version of you exists in every possible way. One of those ways is you. When you die you stop, but because you cannot become nothing and existence is limitless there will come a time when you begin again. When you die your consciousness will cease until you are no longer dead. You will not perceive any of the time in between. You will simply keep going uninterrupted with death being just a thing that happened. What other logical option is there when everything is without an end, when nothingness cannot exist. Once again god is not needed to explain things.
I mean, isn't that the trouble with belief in the first place? It would be nice to believe whatever was most convenient to us, and whatever made us happy - but that means ignoring reality in favor of things that are almost certainly not true (or that definitely are not). It would certainly make me happier to believe that we all have a mystical "soul," but all scientific evidence points towards the brain being the solitary thing that allows us to "be." Our consciousness, our memory, and everything that makes us capable of human thought and feeling are all contained within our brains, and upon death our brains stop functioning. There's no evidence that a soul exists, and no reason that it "needs" to exist, so therefore there cannot be an afterlife of any kind. At least based on current evidence. Sure, it might be possible that a soul "does" exist of course, but there's no rational reason to believe that it does. No more-so than believing that any particular God or Gods or supernatural spirits or such exists. Which is to say: there's zero evidence supporting the idea, and wishful thinking isn't evidence, as much as many of us wish it could be.
I’m a Muslim and I think it is wrong for people to be sent down to hell and for people to experience torture…I feel like God/Allah wants us to be happy but also be there for him and pray because that’s what I do
I'm not kidding when I say this video changed my life. For the longest time I've been a devout Baptist, not because I want to, but because it's what I was taught. I was a Christian, born and raised. Real nice family and all that. I was taught values of love and respect. As I lived, I watched these values get spit on by the very people who worshiped them, telling me to love, but not to love. To care, but to ignore those damned to eternal torment. I believed in an amazing all power God that was unlimited and boundless. Whatever God those around me preached seemed weak and pathetic in comparison. I questioned the faith, which inevitably led me to destroying the foundation of my belief, which had always been blind faith and trust into the Bible. I still carry those values of love and respect. I also upheld the feelings Jesus had towards hypocrites. So I left Christianity, because if I did not, I would be a hypocrite and a liar for the rest of my life.
I.... I have no words. I’ve grown up a Christian, and I’ll be honest, at first my Christian upbringing wanted to rebel in the first few minutes. To not listen because how could this UA-camr claim to know God, when my religion states that while we can draw closer to God and form a relationship, we cannot always understand how or why He does certain things. It took me another minute before I was able to actually listen to what was being said, rather than my own personal beliefs arguing back in my mind. And I’m astonished. It made me question myself and my beliefs as a Christian. I’m still a Christian, but this video has made me view my religion differently. I visited downtown Boston recently, and as you would find in any downtown area there were homeless people begging for spare change. And it struck me then, how hypocritical I was. To say that I believed in a God who is love and peace and grace and mercy, who took my sins on the Cross and took my payment of death away so that I could have eternal life with Him, and yet here I was surrounded by the needy and the hungry and the hurting, and I couldn’t do a thing about it. Granted, I’m only 20 and finding a stable job is kinda hard at the moment for me personally, but that is an excuse. That is an excuse I tell myself to make me feel better at the end of the day rather than face the fact that I’m a huge hypocrite. And this video just nailed this fact home for me. I don’t know if I’m making any sense, or if I’m just reaching, but I’ve had this ache in my heart for the longest time, and I’m so frustrated because I feel like I can’t do anything because I’m not in a position to be of any help. Sorry for the rant, but I’ve just been thinking about it and this video really inspired me to think more about my life, my views on my religion, and my future actions. I know this is really long, but I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
MATTHEW 25:31-40 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, "I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (NIV)

@Justin Gary Your entitled to your own beliefs but so are we. And this video does make points that are valid. As stated in the video what loving God would intentionally send his creations to hell for torture just for questioning his existence.
It's kind of ironic that an atheist gives a better depiction of what a TRUE loving God would be like. It made me wonder if you were really just an agnostic theist. Great work.
Well, I think there always is a thought at the back of the mind that a god may exist. Or maybe, let's better say a hope, that we don't believe doesn't mean we wouldn't like it if a god existed.
@RUSSIAN ROBOT Atheism is literally: Theists: we claim that this God exists. Atheists: we don't see enough evidence and we reject that claim. Stop, that's it. There isn't any non-sense associated by default with atheism. Also everybody is an egoist, altruism doesn't exist you have been fooled, welcome to the real world. Also atheism doesn't claim that people's subjective morality is objective because it comes from a perfect being, so don't think it's more ego tripping than religions, but okay, prove me wrong I guess. P. S. Also WTF is TRUTH? If you know it more that anyone else, please educate me.
@RUSSIAN ROBOT Yes, I'm an agnostic atheist that is very close to deism (I'm not a deist, but I understand and the idea of deism and it kinda resonates with me) so I don't claim to know that a God doesn't exist, only that I don't believe in the concept of God that religions claim, but I wouldn't say that religions are always wrong. Also my username reflects the fact that absolute measures on a small level don't exist, only probability and that I think that we can strive towards complete knowledge( I want to be a researcher) but we will probably never know everything and that absolute TRUTH is a human concept that doesn't exist per se. BTW I don't see how saying that I don't know or I that I believe I don't know (I'm speaking on philosophical level not scientific) anything or something is an ego tripping thing, can you explain?
@RUSSIAN ROBOT So, in conclusion, i don't know about "truth", so do you (unless either one of us have mAgiC, which lead us to meet God himself). Then don't you use "truth" to lecture all people here. You are just a speck of dust, like all of us, in this vast universe.
"You pray so badly for heaven, knowing any day might be the day that you die . But maybe life on earth could be heaven ! Doesn't just the thought of it make it worth a try? If you want love then the love's gotta come from you!" Bo's did a great job for this text here.
@Justin Gary Did you know that coincidence is a thing? And just very vague "predictions" like hey, my country gonna be very rich someday. Yeah, might surely happen. It's just so vague that you could interpret any state of the country into "rich". The bible is full of vague bullshit. The bible is just a moral compass for some people.

Believing is basically wanting something to be true. When you believe that everyone would burn in hell for not believing in what you do, that's actually sick.
ModernMinded You don't believe in global warming. You know it. It's like knowing the sun would rise in the morning. You don't say you believe it would. You say that you know it would, unless something happens. Your contemplation is free of bias.
NDE's are as stated a product of a big brain. A lot of what you see hear and feel is not real, your brain fabricates it. Your mind cannot process the massive input our sense provide so it takes only snapshots and interpolates. When you are deprived of your senses or oxygen supply is low then your brain goes into a panic self preservation mode. It most likely throws together a movie to distract your sub conscience based on random shock memories and mixes thereof, with the intention of raising blood pressure etc.. These are indistinguishable from dreams and I do not see people saying that their dreams are real . If your mother was from Scandinavia in the time of Thor etc.. then her vision would of been completely different. The Hell she saw was the hell her mind had made as a result of being indoctrinated into believing such a place exists. What better way for your mind to try and kick you into consciousness than to use something it knows will frighten or shock you. Same as the dream of falling, this is summised to be your mind forcing you to wake up , again probably due to a lack of oxygen from poor breathing or sleep apnea etc..
Squatchy Lurkin' Consider this advice. They drill hell in deep. As your delusion fades there will be moments when you think of hell. So I ask, do you fear Thor's hell? Of course not, that would be ridiculous. Remember that. There isn't a subatomic speck of evidence to support any god claim. Gods are an archaic answer for primitive people. It's all a big lie.
mikkelturtvig I doubt Óðinn cares much if most of the people don't believe he exists. As unpredictable as the stories say he can be, he seems to lack the high level of neediness of the typical monotheistic god. Maybe it's because he's not an only child 😆
“we’re not afraid of you.” “good. now we’re getting somewhere.” and THIS is why i never understood the phrase “God fearing christian” bc that just sounds like an incredibly abusive relationship. he makes you fear him because he wants you to love him? that can’t be healthy on the mind
I mean it makes sense, if God is all-loving and compassionate, then torturing people for eternity would negate that idea. Though if there was a hell, I'd see it more as a rehabilitation/soul therapy than a firey pit of suffering.
well the thing is, he's not the one torturing people in hell..that would go against his whole purpose, the reason people go to hell is because they reject their creator and because they do that they're basically saying "yeah I don't want anything to do with you and your love" so he lets them do whatever they want. Like when a parent tells you not to be drunk and drive at the same time, you have the choice not to listen but one option is death/immense pain and the other is peace and safety. It's not the parent's fault you basically spat in their face. See he wouldn't be respecting our free will if he didn't give us the option, but what option would there be if heaven and hell didn't exist? there would be no point of having free will.
@@princesaharr1529 I mentioned it near the end why he did it, and it's an obvious reason really, why bother with free will, if there was no more than one result for our actions?
@@princesaharr1529 no, God hasn't made "hell" it's not even a place. It is just a lack of God. And please stop judging the religion by stories that are told to children to give them a simple view: be good - reward, be bad - punishment. Kind of correct but way too simplified. (Just my point of view im not a theologist).
@Splash • 20 years ago Everybody gets a chance to know God. Not everybody gets to hear about Christ and read Bible but that doesn't mean he/she will go to hell. It's all about actions and constantly looking for truth. You can't always see a reason to believe in Jesus Christ in particular but you always will have many reasons to believe there is something more, you'll always notice that our actions have to matter. If they don't, if there is no afterlife than everybody could just commit suicide and everything would be fine. No witnesses, noone to judge, world would keep going normalny without us. RUSSIAN ROBOT
I’m not one to say there is no god but honestly I see no reason to think there is one and even if there is, I fail to see what it would have to do with truth other then the fact it existed. I mean if there is a god it literally effects nothing in my daily life.... nor anyone else’s so far as I can see. In other words if there is a god which can not be substantiated or observed in any meaningful way I don’t really understand why it is important.
RUSSIAN ROBOT
Ok, that’s all good and well but please explain if this seemingly hidden entity exists and man kind has had no need for it why should I care or need to believe in it? As I have said there very well could be some all powerful being out there however unlikely. My only real contention is if there is a god it has most likely never interacted with human beings and very clearly has no interest in doing so, therefore if this god does exist I will remain indifferent towards it until it can be properly substantiated. My biggest problem with the god question isn’t really a problem with there being a god, it is the absurdities and harm caused by primitive world religions claiming to know the mind of such a being.

Who's to say they didnt just make stuff up to fit their needs like EVERY religion/belief/gods before them? There are too many logical inconsistencies in the bible.

The Bible says he is like this. People need to stop cherry picking verses and read the whole Bible in its entirety of its context.
Edit as of October 7th, 2024:
It’s about time I make something clear.
@@brandenmarcum430 He sends people to hell though, that's not even cherry picking, that's something in every iteration of the character

Never have I been converted so quickly. This is the God I want to exist.

And this in a nutshell is what's wrong with Pascal's wager. If God does exist, we don't know what he/she/it really wants from us.
I think if there is a god and they wanted something specific from us, they would tell us in some way. Just another example showing if god exists, either they are not omnipotent or they are not totally benevolent.
Epicurus' trilemma outlines this very well:
*If God is unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.*
*If God is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good.*
*If God is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist?*
William Watson Why would you asume that? If God did exist, isn't it possible that he could show us what he wanted? Or more what he has done?

Hope I helped. ;)

He showed the muslim that there is no chosen people and how arrogant it is to think that everything in the universe was created just for a few people
He showed the atheist that it's impossible to fully understand and see what those in the past, those from when religions arose, saw and experienced.

I was manager for a restaurant many years ago when I had a lady come up to me vehemently complaining about something or other, when out of the blue she asks me "Are you a Christian?"
I told her that what I believe in are the values that good Christians (and good people in general) believe in: Treating others how you want to be treated, honest work, and self-improvement. Not for the sake of some higher-being, but just for the sake of how I want to live.
That answer made her rock back on her feet, and she said "Wow...that's a much better answer than most Christians I know would give."

No, we have a limited time, and it's best and most beautiful to let our thoughts be free, to embrace it with goodness and kindness, to let it cherish the world as is, and to be at peace.

there seems to be a sentiment in hear that is shared with Marcus Aurelius i think the quote that comes to mind is “Live a good life.
Thanks for sharing that quote! I had never heard it but it kind of expresses my sentiments much more eloquently than I can!
Marcus Aurelius there expressed his version of Epicurus's Paradox, which is as follows:
"God, he says, either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or He is able, and is unwilling; or He is neither willing nor able, or He is both willing and able.
Tommy Breitwieser nope place your hope in Jesus or you will burn
Jack Brown Je🅱️us
Couldn't they make you change your mind about wanting to worship them, like, the second you're impaled on one of their burning stakes which prevents anyone stuck on it from dying?
I mean, I guess you wouldn't actually want to worship them, but you might want to get on their good side to make it stop, right?
This is a question I've asked a couple people: basically, if it turned out the creator and holder of supreme power over everything was actually the Devil, would you worship him? Most people I've asked said they wouldn't, but I don't think I can be honest with myself and say I wouldn't chicken out eventually.

I don’t see him as a ruler, i see him like I see my family and friends, kind, forgiving, and humble. Very Dr. Strange.
But more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio...
Same.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, "I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

Atheists tend to uphold the idea of a loving God than most Christians do?
@RUSSIAN ROBOT Atheism is literally:
Theists: we claim that this God exists.

@Justin Gary Did you know that coincidence is a thing? And just very vague "predictions" like hey, my country gonna be very rich someday. Yeah, might surely happen.

Yorick Digs Graves he made hell though
@@princesaharr1529 I mentioned it near the end why he did it, and it's an obvious reason really, why bother with free will, if there was no more than one result for our actions?
@@princesaharr1529 no, God hasn't made "hell" it's not even a place. It is just a lack of God. Hell is literally your decision to reject God (God Himself is too complicated concept to try to understand it isn't like we believe in a bearded man). That's how i see it.
I want to believe that there is something more and it has to be dependent on our actions. You have to be able to 'win' in the game called Life. Not just by luck.
This is a god I would hope exists.
You might find it in the new testament.... The god depicted on the video and the one on the 2nd book are quite similar. But yeah, the old testament is weird... Maybe except for Solomon's Wisdom part.
@@mathcartoons thats funny
i wouldnt "if i didnt want it this way, i would not have made it this way" that means he wanted Diabetes, covid, aids cancer in 3 year olds etc.
You do realize you just watched a impossible video. Darkmatter is an Atheist that just portrayed that God existed.
@@jesusisdead Some "athiests" are just people who question god's morals. I believe he made this video because people worship a guy who sends people to eternal fucking suffering instead of helping them. Sounds good to me.
I am a theist - but this depiction of god is far closer to my believes than anything I hear from any other religious people.
But, it’s nothing like almost all religions.
@@DunceCapSyndrome True.
ok?
@Zenful Pariah Good to know. Now why don't you go back home to your ideological circlejerk, and stay there.
@Zenful Pariah: Sounding exactly like a 15-Year old bully which hasn't reached puberty yet.
Wait....You could actually be one! :O
This made me increase my anxiety, but the truth is actually we don't need to fear him we don't need to know he exists, we just need to have a peaceful life. Am i right cuz this are the vibes this gave me
TRUE IF GOD IS REAL THEN A PEACEFUL LIFE SHOULD BE ALL HE WANTS FROM US
