I listened to the first 4 minutes of this hoping for an intelligent response from Rabbi Manis Friedman, all that became clear is that neither he nor his "christian" friend understand Christianity all all.
The 613 commandments which can't be fulfilled were given to prove that we can't be saved on our own. But when you only believe in an 11 month hell, it's a moot point.
@@nomorecensoringme I accept your non belief but have a correct non belief about things understood correctly, not based on errors. Communicating erroneous information doesn't help anyone.
What you don't understand is he's not putting down Christianity, he's enlightening areas that are missed in loving God & following his path of goodness here on earth if I'm not mistaken.
Men have trouble accepting that God does not have the same needs or emotional design as human beings. He needs nothing, because he lacks nothing. We NEED him because we lack alot.
God needs our worship, in return he gives us what we need including Salvation. It's a very basic formula in the Bible. God created both Good and Evil in order to receive true worship rather than to be worshipped by a bunch of robots.
@@solomonstolberg4383 God is the Creator of all that exists, including animals, plants, fish, etc., but does not NEED them. The word Need, as a verb, means to be in want, or under necessity. King David said that he could give nothing to the Lord that the Lord did not first give him. All things are from Him, for Him and to Him. He is not dependent on mankind, who is frail, impure and fleshly in every manner and can do nothing that God does not permit. He is in control of everything in heaven and earth. He knows what is in man, and had eliminated all mankind by a flood due to their wicked ways, and even repented from creating them. All perished but 8 people and the animals that God selected to live. We can do nothing without the Lord, not even pray. He puts the prayer in our heart to seek Him so that He can give it to us. All things come from Him. He hears the cries of the poor and needy. Those of a contrite heart, He will not deny. He is God and there is no other. Nothing in the heavens or on earth compares to Him. If there is not one person to cry out to Him, He will cause even the rocks to cry out on His behalf.
I've been reading the book of Kings and Chronicles and what is evident is that Israel didn't want the one God but kept on going back to the pagan idols of other nations.
Makes you wonder why. The lifeless idols didn't have to do anything, Yahweh did everything for them, but they kept going back to the stones... Imagine being the all-powerful creator of the universe and you kept losing your people to stones figurines... You got to be kidding me.
@@flameone4705 It's an illustration for us today. Our idols are movies, pop stars, sex, partying, frivolous shopping, etc. Although these sins seem like so much more, the stone figurines somehow possessed the same allure and distraction.

Why would you put yourself greater than God. Those that exalt themselves will be abased. Don't forget why you wear that skull cap, a sign of humility before God. God does not need you otherwise he would not be omnipotent (which he is). God does use, love and care for his creations. God said in the Bible that he didn't need the Jews. If they would not worship him, he would just have the rocks of the earth do it. He doesn't need you, he will use you and care for you and all his creations though. To think otherwise is pure arrogance.

He uses the phrase "practicing Christianity " rather than "was a Christian " because according to Jewish law, in the eyes of G-d a Jew remains a Jew even if he "converts". The 613 commandments were not given to prove they can't be kept. They were given with precise instruction and with the promise of reward and punishment. G-d does not lie, nor does he play games. He means what He says. We don't need to be "saved"; we need to live up to our mission in life, which is to seek out G-d in our lives and connect with Him with Him with live and awe by fulfilling His will. For Jews this is the 613 commandments, for non-Jews this is the 7 Noachide Laws. Unlike other religions, Judaism teaches that you have a place in Heaven even if you are not Jewish, as long as you keep the 7 Noachide Laws. Judaism is not for everybody, but G-d's love is there for all who love Him. G-d's "vulnerability" is that He leaves it up to us to excersize our free will (a gift from Him) to decide whether we want to pursue a relationship with Him (which He wants). Certainly G-d showers us with love and compassion all the time, even when in hard times, but it's up to us to recognize it. He wants a connection with us, it's why He made us, but He doesn't force it on us. This chosen vulnerability does not detract one iota from His Supremacy. Only the Almighty Timeless Master of all has the ability to be so vulnerable with the assurance to ultimately have what He seeks.
@TheSeptuagint Talmud is the oral part of the Torah. As an emergency measure at the beginning of our current exile, it was written in an abbreviated way, so as to retain it while still requiring the personal, teacher student mode of transmission. Without the Oral Law, the meaning and intent of the Written Law (what Christians call the "Old" Testament) cannot be properly understood. For example, in the Written Law, there is a commandment to use phylacteries, but the Oral Law is where there is a description of what they are.
According to your book, j-man says, all those who know the only true G-d are one with Him. He also recites Shema Israel, and says there is no other but He. If he said, he was one with G-d, This isn’t a declaration of divinity. It’s a declaration of unity, and every Jewish person can identify with it, because every Jewish person has a spark of G-d in them, and the Jewish people are connected and married to G-d and are 1 with Him. All of Israel is the son of G-d. “Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says HASHEM: “Israel is My son, My firstborn.” Exodus 4:22
My reaction was exactly the same as the comment below. The God we believe in grieves when we reject Him but is not ‘vulnerable’ as a human is vulnerable.
It saddens him that's all he wants the best for us it saddens him when men ignore him and it angers him when they do terrible things as a result of that

😂😂 Why computer scientists invest the firs Computer? Well the Christians will answer that Computer Scientist loves PC. We designed computers so that we can interact and use it to make our lives easier. I think need always comes first, love is a second choice. You might see a very beautiful lady on the street, you don’t love her of course, but you need her attractiveness to pleasure your needs. Well if you find out she’s a good person, instead of gold digger. Obviously you’ll gradually starting to love her.
We need each hother. He needs us to take care of his creation, and we need him to have a life on the creation. Just like an investor needs people to take care of his investment and those people need the investor to provide them what was promised. It is just like when artists create their art - after the creation there is many people who take care of the art: people who protect copyrights, conservators, agents, other artists reacreating it to keep the memory alive and so on. This is actually a very simple and basic concept of life. Hope this makes sense :)

Catholic christianity, a life of authentic Christian prayer and sacramental worship, works for me. I had traumatic abuse as a child, a horrific "Catholic" marriage to a narcissist psychopath for 33 years, deaths of young loved ones including a beloved son, my living children have lost their faith, all of which had given me a life sentence of feeling crushed and unloved. I do not agree with every little thing Rabbi Friedman says, but I have got so much from his videos I cannot express how helpful they have been. I am Christian and can only speak from that point-of-view, but to me G-d would not want us to be rude to each other. In the New Text, it says to respect the Jewish people because they are the roots and Christians are the branches. And, that the branches cannot survive without the roots. The Jewish nation was anointed to bring the knowledge of G-d into this world and everyone should respect them for that. “For God so loved the earth...” You know the rest. God loves us. God does not need us, he wants us to love him without compelling us. For without choice love does not exist.
I have Jewish heritage in my lineage, I am a Christian and raised as such, I believe in G*d's vulnerability. He said you will have no other gods before me, He gets jealous, he can be grieved, provoked to anger slow or not, we can move the hand of god and minister to his spirit... We are created in his image, and the many aspects of God, we are the reflection of Him. He is a family man, He needs people to participate, and when we don't he looks for a willing vessels. Shalom
You seriously think you need to quote pieces of the Torah to us? To a rabbi? What does that prove for you? We've spent over 3335 years studying it, dissecting it, to know intimate levels of G-d's words, not the simplicity of them. No, G-d does not 'look for other vessels'. A relationship with G-d is complex, sometimes distant, sometimes intimately close. It is never, never, "abandoned". He has not "given up" on us, Jews, either. Moshiach is coming to finish the preparation for this world to be perfected for G-d to dwell here with us. Here. Not in heaven.
I'm a Jew who likes your post. In Judaism beliefs don't matter as much as your actions as part of your community. I was raised atheist Jewish. My dad was devout till the Holocaust. He would be 110 if he were alive today. Since some parts of Judaism see history as an expression of G-d's will, a lot of Jews who were adult during WW2 became atheist from that trauma. Ironically my return to Kabbalic beliefs started with participation in Native American ceremonies in my 30s. My atheism began cracking when I became a camping nut in my 20s & I had mystical experiences in nature. My own belief is that if your religion gives you compassion & courage & a sense of responsibility, you please G-d, no matter what religion you believe in.
Hopefully, one day, you will turn away from the idolatry of xtianity and return to G.d. and his Instructions. Isn't that exactly what happened when Moses came down from the mountain and found the golden calf. Isn't that what happened when God sent the plagues to hurt the Egyptians who were also God's children?

Normally I love hearing Rabbi Friedman‘s messages. However, this time I can’t be on board with the idea of “God’s vulnerability” a god whom is vulnerable, must be capable of being flawed. Seeing how God and God alone determines what is good bad flawed or perfect . God in and of himself is quite incapable of being flawed or vulnerable. A God that is flawed is not worth worshiping. Therefore, the God of Abraham can only be an all powerful all-knowing and an invulnerable God. I still love hearing your voice, Rabbi. Because many would consider God’s being both loving and compassionate towards others as vulnerabilities and flaws. Entering into a loving relationship with someone else comes with very real risks. They might turn on you and reject you at any time. You might show compassion, and someone might take advantage of you for doing that. But, the alternative is for God to become a cold, heartless robot to shut out any perceivable vulnerabilities.
a complete nonsense what he said. God needs us? He needs us for what? To lift his throne? To shine his crown? To pull his kingdom carriage? Does this mean when the humanity doesn't exist anymore God will cease to exist? he imagines a God similar to Steve Jobs, he created his mac computer because he needs it, doesn't make any sense just like the Christian concept three in one, go and try to make a sense of it. If God loves us this means he is vulnerable, imagine a vulnerable God? vulnerability is the quality of being easily hurt or attacked. for how long the humanity has bee hostile and transgressed since the existence of the earth. God has a lot of patience and he doesn't get hurt easily otherwise he would have buried alive George Bush, Tony Blair and their clan when they went caused destruction and death in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lybia...etc Again, this Rabbi is comparing the love of God toward his creation, to the love of humans toward others or objects they create or already created by God, God is self-sufficient, all-knowing, all-hearing and all-powerful therefore he doesn't need us, we need him badly especially these horrible times we live in where the wrong became right and the right became wrong. God loves the one who loves him, he loves the one who wants to sincerely connect with him, who doesn't associate any partner with him, who doesn't abuse his other creation. God loves the one who struggles to perfect his character, the one who serves other creation of god. God knows humanity he created like the back of his hand[metaphorically], he knows who is the sincere and who is the insincere so he won't get shocked when the insincere turns his back on God.

God doesn’t NEED us. He WANTS us. His love is not like human love, His love is PERFECT, COMPLETE and WHOLE. He can ‘feel’ vulnerability without literally being vulnerable. Remember he made us in his image. He gave us feelings. They are useful, but should not be blindly ‘followed’ as he warns us plenty. In Isaiah 53, who is referred to as the "Suffering Servant"? In Genesis 18, three men (understood to be angels) visit Abraham, and he extends hospitality to them. Similarly, in Genesis 32, Jacob wrestles with a man who is later revealed to be an angel. Were they in human form and were they angels ? You're only considering the idea that you're right, and not the possibility that you're wrong. If you're wrong, it's bad news for you. If a Jew believes you and you're wrong, it's even worse news for him. This of course only works on a situation where Judaism is perfect and Christianity has an insane number of flaws, as pointed by the free eternal hell tickets. Because this because an unfavourable Russian Roulette ( and one that Christianity started, because if only Judaism exists, there is no Russian Roulette )

Isaiah 53 53 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. 4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. 11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

I don’t understand why he is saying no one cares if you are perfect. The whole point of the law was to call humanity toward perfection and holiness so that we can be with him once again instead of separated from him by sin. God cares about us being perfected because if we aren’t we can not be with him, we will die in his presence without being purified in perfection, through atonement, through a heart that is for him and his law. I’m not Jewish but I thought this is a basic understanding of the function of the law, and he seems to be undermining it with his statements

Monotheism stemmed from Judaism within the Abrahamic world. Before Abraham, monotheistic culture (but with diversity, not an impersonal abstraction) was extent and highly developed within ancient Bharata (Vedic India). The pride of the rabbis is malodorous.

And Abraham saw and talked with God. Genesis 18:1-15 " 13And the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Is it really true that I will give birth, although I am old?'14Is anything hidden from the Lord? At the appointed time, I will return to you, at this time next year and Sarah will have a son."17And the Lord said, "Shall I conceal from Abraham what I am doing?19For I have known him because he commands his sons and his household after him, that they should keep the way of the Lord to perform righteousness and justice, in order that the Lord bring upon Abraham that which He spoke concerning him."20And the Lord said, "Since the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah has become great, and since their sin has become very grave,26And the Lord said, "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous men within the city, I will forgive the entire place for their sake."32And he said, "Please, let the Lord's wrath not be kindled, and I will speak yet this time, perhaps ten will be found there." And He said, "I will not destroy for the sake of the ten."33And the Lord departed when He finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.” The tanakh is clear, so why isn't it understood as written. God's love for us must not be misinterpreted as His vulnerability. I love my children very much and I always want them to be safe and successful. Most of the times they do not want to do things that will make them good persons in their lives because they don't understand the life since they haven't experienced it. So, I had to tell them things with good degree of sternness. All because of my profound love for them. God also loves us and want us to LIVE.
I guarantee you that this video will be going viral, and this Rabbi will be getting a lot of backlash from the Christian world because of his ignorant comments about Christians and Christianity.
'Ignorant comments'? We don't believe what you do. That's it. We don't want to either. Make you happier? The truth is not a power play, or a manipulation, or politically correct, a popularity contest, and shouldn't be adjusted to make the audience "happy". Do you agree? The rabbi isn't giving a lecture on christianity. He's giving it on G-d. Do you ever hear him preach, as non-Jewish preachers do, that you all have to convert, or suffer the consequences? Maybe look at what is and isn't being said. No "commercial" for christianity will come out of a rabbi's mouth. Should it?
How much more vulnerable can He get than being paraded around naked. Shamed. Ridiculed and then hung on a cross for all to see? That’s pretty vulnerable to me.
John 7:18 He who is speaking for himself is seeking his own glory, but he who is seeking his glory that sent him the same is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
Before some of you might jump on me and calling me a ''bible thumping madman''... no, im not christian and no im not atheist. I consider myself to be agnostic. That being said, didnt god in christianity put himself into vulnerable position by taking human form, endured great torture and slowly died on the cross to demonstrate how much he loves us? Just a philosophical question, nothing more, nothing less!
The reason love hurts is that it is SUPPOSED to hurt. If it DOESN’T hurt, it was never love in the first place. It’s not about alchemy, to make it all ‘doable’. It’s really about ‘transmuting’ the inevitable pain into real power, which makes God very proud of you. You are my son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him. ~ Gomtuu
As a Christian I do believe that God needs something from me. Love. Love can not be forced. He gave us free will, it was a sacrifice on his part knowing that some of his children would turn away. But the ones who do not turn away will be spending eternity worshiping in his presence and loving him because they chose to. Not because they were forced to. Love is not love if you have to be convinced or coerced into it. God came to earth in the flesh, offered us the gift of paying off all our spiritual debts, and left us 100% in control of whether we accept that gift or not.
While I love hearing Rabbi Friedman speak and he has very deep wisdom to impart, if you are posting a video explaining why Jews don't believe in Christianity then this isn't really it. As an ex-Christian myself who came home to Judaism with a great deal of amazing help from Hashem, I can tell you briefly that for any Jew to worship a created human being, including an orthodox Jew of his time born 2000 years ago in Judea who would have kept kosher, Shabbat and the holidays according to both the written and the oral Torah, is idol worship. We are commanded as Jews to worship G-d alone (eg read Isaiah chapters 43 to 45). And G-d is more than capable of forgiving sins directly when people repent, as he did the people of Nineveh in the time of Jonah, no sacrifices necessary. If you are Jewish and considering embracing Christianity, or a truth seeker who wants to understand why Jews do not accept Christianity, check out Jews for Judaism, Rabbi Tovia Singer, Shannon Nuszen, an ex-Christian missionary who set up the organization Beyneynu, or even my own channel. Or all of these if you have time.
Thank you Gilarina, this video has a title that is like clickbait. That psychiatrist had the same emptiness men have when they come to the end of themselves. Judaism is exclusively reserved for direct descendants of Jacob. Consequently, it implies that converts are living a futile life, contradicting the teachings of the Torah.
Why are you telling this rabbi, born into Judaism, a kohen, that he doesn't know why Jews aren't christians? Your perspective is not invalid though it's hardly universal. Advocating Singer is predictable since he caters more towards christians than towards Jews. Rabbi Friedman shares knowledge with us that is useful and even important for non-Jews. Sometimes directed to them specifically like when he talks to visiting groups that he shares. Also for the edification of Jews. Not all of us are scholars. He is a rabbi, after all.
@@lillianortiz4541 that's not true about converts, wherever your knowledge comes from, it's inaccurate. There are multiple laws about converts being accepted and treated as a fellow Jew by birth.
@@lillianortiz4541I'm not sure why you think Judaism is exclusive, as no one needs to convert in order to live a good life a be a servant to G-d. An example is Job. Unlike any other religion who claims that non follower of their religion will go to hell. Judaism is the opposite of that.
@@anti_missionary_mission being a Jew is 'exclusive', like it or not. It's not a "club" to join or to "think" they're part of, as people see fit. Being a Jew isn't part of the "make everyone feel good by being "inclusive" nonsense". There are requirements of us that we take seriously. It's not up to you to trivialize it either. It's a relationship with G-d that He designated as such. Argue with Him if you're unhappy with that reality.
God says that we should not lean on our own understanding but to have faith in him, trust him and the fact that he wants us all to come to him as he is patient and wants that none of us shall perish
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
I'm glad that people of peace exist in this modern era (not saying this because of your religion) we seem to forget that Israel Islam and Christianity are all Abrahaic brothers
Rabbi no offense. I like your sermons, but they make me ask difficult questions like this. Why would you put yourself greater than God? Don't forget why you wear that skull cap, a sign of humility before God. God does not need you otherwise he would not be omnipotent (which he is). God does use, love and care for his creations. God said in the Bible that he didn't need the Jews. If they would not worship him, he would just have the rocks of the earth do it. He doesn't need you, he will use you and care for you and all his creations though. To think otherwise is pure arrogance.
You can't possibly believe that there is a punishment system for not doing the things that G-d DOESN'T need.... That's just cruel. If they're not essential to the very core of creation, then how can He possibly punish us for not doing them?
Feel so sorry for you. You're missing out on so much. Fyi, rabbi doesn't give 'sermons'. He teaches, hence one meaning for the word 'rabbi'. Teaching makes us uncomfortable. It's supposed to.
When did Rabbi Friedman even "hint" at being 'greater than G-d', which is blasphemous? It's not nice to put words in someone else's mouth. Especially blasphemous ones.
@@nomorecensoringme When he said God needs him and us. God has no need for anything. The very fact that the Bible/Torah teaches the omnipotence of God contradicts the statement. God lacks nothing, needs nothing, wants for nothing, is totally sovereign and omnipotent. Read the conversation God had with Job and understand your own Bible. Its extremely clear his words contradict those in scripture on this point. To say God is not omnipotent and needs us or our help or our being is a form of blaspheme because it denies God and his omnipotent character. His theory on this point simply is wrong and not aligned with all of scripture.
It’s funny that one of the predictions of the “messiah” is that his own people would reject him and guess what? Well… also he would come before the destruction of the second temple? Well guess who? The second temple was destroyed in 70 AD. So many other signs but I’d be writing a novel. You guys are missing out on your own messiah.
Rabbi, please forgive me. I am a Christian Orthodox from America and I am truly enjoying and learning from your videos. However, if it's at all possible, when you mention a Yiddish word, would you follow it up with the translation in English? It would be very helpful. May GOD continue to bless all that you do.
Please be sure to read the New Testament, unlike Rb. Friedman, so that you can identify all of his errors such as the ideas that God needs humans, that the Trinity are multiple rather than One God in 3 Persons, and that God callously feels no pain nor shows any vulnerability when humans reject him. ~C
The rabbi has a tendency to get things backwards. God did not need to take the Jews out of Egypt, the Jews "needed" God to deliver them. It is obvious the psychiatrist was a Protestant and allowed his profession to confuse him. The rabbi's example of Christianity is as bad as the psychiatrist. Imagine if I said I knew a man who was a professor of economics, and he claimed to practice Judaism for 30 years. He believed Judaism was devoted to God and earthly wealth: the more money you have, the more favor you have in God's eyes. He prayed for money and wealth for thirty years... did not get it, so he left Judaism. This faux definition of Judaism is as bad as the rabbi's definition of Christianity. God is not vulnerable; God has no needs; at least as we humans understand this. A Psychiatrist is not a good source for understanding theology.
why did god create the world if not for a need or a desire? doesnt make sense to think he created us just for no reason, he had and still has a need, not our tiny needs indeed, but still it makes him much closer to us.
If a man risked his own life to save a woman's life and she still mocked him and doubted his love and who he said he was, what would that woman be? What if the woman was the one who tried to take his life even?
But there's still sin in you that God must judge and condemn no matter the worship!.. It's not about you my friend, it's about God who's willing to help you. Just give up on your pride and accept the Saviour, the only Name of the Salvation who paid it all 🙌
In your life, what is more important, more meaningful; what you want, or what you need? If your house was on fire and you could grab only one thing as you rushed out, would it be what you want, or what you need? If your spouse wants you, you can wonder why, and for how long, but if your spouse needs you, then your spouse recognizes and acknowledges that the two of you are really inseparable. We are not just wanted yet unnecessary playthings for G-d; we are a vital component of what He created this world to achieve. He created us because to fullfill His plan He needs us to perform that function. You can walk somewhere or you can drive your car. If its closeby and you can walk, your motor is unimportant. But if you choose a distant location to drive, you NEED the motor. Vulnerability is a strength, not a flaw. The 613 commandments were not given to prove they can't be kept. They were given with precise instruction and with the promise of reward and punishment. G-d does not lie, nor does he play games. He means what He says. We don't need to be "saved"; we need to live up to our mission in life, which is to seek out G-d in our lives and connect with Him with Him with love and awe by fulfilling His will. For Jews this is the 613 commandments, for non-Jews this is the 7 Noachide Laws. Unlike other religions, Judaism teaches that you have a place in Heaven even if you are not Jewish, as long as you keep the 7 Noachide Laws. (If you are born to a Jewish mother, according to the Torah you remain a Jew, even if you convert.) Judaism is not for everybody, but G-d's love is there for all who love Him. G-d has no need to incarnate Himself to suffer for us. He already suffers with us because He is always with us, we are a part of Him.
Sir, what you're saying about love and vulnerability is absolutely convincing and I appreciate it. These are absolute truths that are true, I agree fully, to ALL relationships. That said, though I would not even think of trying to convert you, or any Jewish rabbi, whose lectures I enjoy, to Christianity, I still would like to add that this does not hold as an argument against Christianity. This concerns the Trinity, that may be understood, experienced or not. But those who have experienced -, reflected it in light of personal experience know that the Trinity is Unity, that is One and NOT three,- but Three IN One. That much a statement I felt your lecture was sure worth, Rabbi Friedman, no offense meant, in respect and appreciation of a statement that moved me deeply.
The rabbi isn't offering an 'argument against christianity'. He offered a few reasons. That's it. Never is enough though is it, respectful as you're trying to be? There has to be a back and forth for hours, days, years, centuries, yet you still won't "get it". We have to get it all "right" and convince you which isn't going to happen. We don't believe as you do. We won't ever. We also don't have to justify our beliefs. Nor explain them. It is the Torah. Who'd give up all that beauty and content for less? Not us.

They do it because they don't want to be told what to do. If there's a God he's the Creator in order to be GOD he at the very least has to know more than anyone else and be more powerful than anyone or anything else. God needs our worship, in return he gives us what we need including Salvation. It's a very basic formula in the Bible. God created both Good and Evil in order to receive true worship rather than to be worshipped by a bunch of robots.
So why did He create us then? What’s the point?
I knew when he said “practicing Christianity” that this probably wasn’t about true Christianity. “God needed us!” Wow!
By Jewish law do you mean the Torah or the Talmud
@TheSeptuagint Talmud is the oral part of the Torah. As an emergency measure at the beginning of our current exile, it was written in an abbreviated way, so as to retain it while still requiring the personal, teacher student mode of transmission. Without the Oral Law, the meaning and intent of the Written Law (what Christians call the "Old" Testament) cannot be properly understood. For example, in the Written Law, there is a commandment to use phylacteries, but the Oral Law is where there is a description of what they are.

No, G-d does not 'look for other vessels'. A relationship with G-d is complex, sometimes distant, sometimes intimately close. It is never, never, "abandoned". My atheism began cracking when I became a camping nut in my 20s & I had mystical experiences in nature.

I have to say I’m quite disappointed. I have been struggling for a very long time on my intertwined faith between Judaism and Christianity. I grew up, messianic, Hebrew.
I hope that I may gain some kind of better understanding as I rediscover my faith.

Normally I love hearing Rabbi Friedman‘s messages. However, this time I can’t be on board with the idea of “God’s vulnerability” a god whom is vulnerable, must be capable of being flawed.
---------I suppose that depends on what you mean by “flawed”.
God has a lot of patience and he doesn't get hurt easily otherwise he would have buried alive George Bush, Tony Blair and their clan when they went caused destruction and death in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lybia...etc
Again, this Rabbi is comparing the love of God toward his creation, to the love of humans toward others or objects they create or already created by God,
God is self-sufficient, all-knowing, all-hearing and all-powerful therefore he doesn't need us, we need him badly especially these horrible times we live in where the wrong became right and the right became wrong.
I agree. I love the Rabbi's teachings but agree. If you haven't, you should read (or watch) Michael S. Heiser.
God is beyond infinite and can do anything but lie; He had to break himself into an uncountable infinity just to make the universe. Where do you think the matter came from? But he's a greater quantity of infinite so he can be both broken and whole at once.
I agree 100% with you. Nobody's perfect, only God is perfect in every way possible. Some Rabbi's know so much detail that they miss the big picture. God will never be flawed. Amen
I'd say suffering & dying on the cross shows how much He cares

God doesn’t NEED us. He WANTS us. His love is not like human love, His love is PERFECT, COMPLETE and WHOLE. He can ‘feel’ vulnerability without literally being vulnerable. Remember he made us in his image. He gave us feelings. They are useful, but should not be blindly ‘followed’ as he warns us plenty. If we experience the “feeling” of vulnerability as images of Him, then He clearly experiences vulnerability Himself, yes? We are human, sinful and fallen, but He is whole and perfect and complete. His vulnerability is not the same.
Nah, being emotional is a deception of Satan.

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

Exodus 33:18 Moses said: "Show me, now, Your glory!" 19He said: "I will let all My goodness pass before you; I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you, and I will favor when I wish to favor, and I will have compassion when I wish to have compassion." 20And He said, "You will not be able to see My face, for man shall not see Me and live." 21And the Lord said: "Behold, there is a place with Me, and you shall stand on the rock. 22And it shall be that when My glory passes by, I will place you into the cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23Then I will remove My hand, and you will see My back but My face shall not be seen." And Abraham saw and talked with God. Nothing makes sense.

You're not vulnerable with those you 'love'? That's sad.

The rabbi isn't giving a lecture on christianity. He's giving it on G-d. Do you ever hear him preach, as non-Jewish preachers do, that you all have to convert, or suffer the consequences?

As a Christian I do believe that God needs something from me. Love. Love can not be forced. He gave us free will, it was a sacrifice on his part knowing that some of his children would turn away. But the ones who do not turn away will be spending eternity worshiping in his presence and loving him because they chose to. Not because they were forced to. Love is not love if you have to be convinced or coerced into it. God came to earth in the flesh, offered us the gift of paying off all our spiritual debts, and left us 100% in control of whether we accept that gift or not.
Thank you to the IGTK team for all you do to share the teachings of Rabbi Friedman with us.

Am I better than those who need me?

Dispensationalism is Racist

G-d has no need to incarnate Himself to suffer for us. He already suffers with us because He is always with us, we are a part of Him.
You are you, we are we. Mutual respect is a prime. We must focus on what we have in common and not that which divides us . B

One and NOT three,- but Three IN One. That much a statement I felt your lecture was sure worth,

Not us.
