He is just riding the tail ends of the beats till the last possible moment. So skilled its crazy.
This is just so incredibly insane. The pocket is deeper than a sewn together pant-leg.
+Maximiliam Andersson 100 %
His drums sound so good, damn.
Refreshing. Beautiful tasteful playing. Love the space between the notes. Too often drummers want to fill every possible hole. My new fave drummer
+Heta Moses another one lost to Benny, great! :) Check out his old "Grebfruit" Stuff, you´ll love it!
grass grows in silence!
Man, this guy plays around with time and groove like a flippin' cat with a ball of yarn. Damn it, Benny Greb...
You're too damn good, sir.
Also, dynamics.

Holy shit.
every time i watch this video, i find something new that he does on the drums i hadnt noticed before and im always left amazed
that aux snare is SO phat. its great. what a beast.
Benny is so beyond human comprehension... a true musical legend that still amazes me every time I replay all of his videos over and over again, trying to think the way he does.
Best Drummer of the World !
This guy is just superb. And that SNARE - good god.
His drumming has always been top notch. Love the insane groove!
When I asked for a Groove Sandwich, I didn't ask for this much, but damn okay! :D blissful playing by Benny and the group. Btw..Benny & Scofield should gig it up ^_^ anyone else dig?
the absolute MASTER of making music listenable. You are the best Benny thank you for everything you do!
Groove Monster
that groove, that music. I'm speechless.. so tasty
Man, those snares. Both are just so perfect. Benny Greb has the best sounding kit, always.
can't get enough
the body, mind and soul.. love it!
He mixes tasteful drumming, groove, flair and musicality. Its a lesson every time I listen to him perform.
the great skill of making pauses sound amazing
Sick! Benny Greb is the best!
I'm not sure I've seen someone with such mastery of the time of a song as Benny. In or out of the pocket, he always seems to know where he is.
Here’s how you know Benny Greb is an original: Off the top of your head, identify three of his influences based on this playing.
Fingers as ghost notes? Fucking classic yo. He's so smooth.
Incredible !!!!!!
that riff @1.14 !!!!
That transition at 4:52 ... zomg
Irresistible rewind moment at 5:34.... That flam.
fucking amazing sound this is the type of grove i want to play and feel this guy fucking feels this grove it gives me goose bumps
the fuck did i just see 3 cymbals on his main hihats?
Benny seems to like the new vintage Sonors
Germany's very own 'Groove King'!
his FEEL THO!
If anybody ever asks you, "why is Benny Greb aloud to do a DVD entitled "The Art and Science of Groove"??? Isnt that a bit arrogant?" First show them this Video and then rewind to 1:27 ... does anybody know a drummer able to make a pause so groovy???
that snare, my god
More like both snares, omg is right!
This video makes me want to buy that 22 crash ride. Sounds beautiful as a huge crash or delicate ride as its used perfectly in this video. 2:04 and on...
Who can dislike this seriously?
Sick hihat combos! 14" filterchina under the sand hats?! :O Sounds delish :)
Simon Vidlund Can confirm. Does sound delish. Used my 14" filter china under my 14" Extra Dry Medium Hats at a gig Saturday night.
Really?! I own a pair of 14" extra dry hats :)
Simon Vidlund Yep! I love the 14" extra dry hats, man.. they sound so killer. I've also got 18" and 20" Extra Dry Thin crashes, and 20" and 22" Extra Dry Medium rides.. as well as a 21" byzance traditional medium crash. Wanting to add a 22" sand crash/ride and 18" sand thin crash to my arsenal at some point.
Cool man! Can you describe how the sound is different with the extra dry from the sand hats? I recently got some new meinl cymbals, love them! I have a 19" extra dry thin crash, 20" sand ride, 22" vintage pure light ride, 14" extra dry hats and a 10" extra dry splash.
Simon Vidlund Check out the latest two videos on my channel, you can hear them for yourself :)
I’ve been listening to this song for years but never actually saw a video of him playing it, how does he make it look so easy yet so difficult at the same time?
Every time I see his cymbals in the dark they look like fancy electronics to me
sweet grooving man
Beanie Greb :)
The guitar player does it right! :)
ΥΠΕΡΟΧΟΙ
3:10-3:22 ...a magical :12 seconds.
So deep pocket. Mother of god...
best
5:03 5:33 Benny my favourite
Is the Meinl hi hat tambourine he's using the double one?
The hottest drummer right now
ThIS I S SSSSOOOUUUU HE A VYpaaaaaam pa daaa pa da
Anyone know how he mounts the mini Xhats? I can't figure it out, and I have the same cymbals to work with (08” Classics Bell and 08” Byzance Dark Splash). No stand I have seems to go deep enough to accommodate the height of the Xhat.
Thanks
I'm sure someone makes an adapting boom arm to accommodate the height of hihats. Shouldn't be hard to find one!
MSH.Drums Remove the cymbal sleeve on a regular cymbal boom arm. The bell will go all the way to the bottom. Just use a washer underneath. Mount the splash on top of the bell, use another washer and the wingnut and you're good to go.
Rahul Gopal Thanks! I'll give it a shot.
Hope it works out :)
MSH.Drums did it work?
Somehow I ended up here after browsing spring-data-jpa source code from springframework.
1:00 omg
How about the kit???
I know there's a list of his cymbals, but which 8" combo does he use at .41-.43 and then the one at 1:09? Thanks!
I know it was forever since you asked, but if you still wanna know.
He uses Meinl 8"/10" Generation X Electro Stack
The nicest, most expensive aux trash snare ever?? lol
Is it really a filter china and not his trash hat bottom?
Gavin Oswald his trash hat bottom might work, but is 12".. There is also something taped underneath (to reduce *ping*?).. He tapes a lot of cymbals i see! :o
this is a pearl fiberglass drum set?
Sonor Vintage series
Does anyone know what his snares are?
Both are his signature Sonor snares
Anyone know who's on guitar?
Ben Carney chris montague
when and where was this fest was?
Art Coll June 27th in Guttenstetten, Germany...probably wrong spelling but yeah:)
End of video..
id bet the guitarist has a john scofield lp in the closet. :)
just sickening
