- Last but not least, here is Benny Greb's full-length 15min drumsolo which he played at our 2012 Meinl Drum Festival as part of the DRIO performance.
I recommend that you use good headphones or a high-quality speaker system to enjoy this clip in order to capture the full dynamic range and fine nuances of Benny's amazing drumming.

I always worry people can't appreciate how good he is
I have heard people call Benny Greb gimmicky when he does the obscure stuff he does, and I disagree with those people. Greb is the only drummer with such a passion for making good noise (not just about the technicality or simply hitting a good conventional groove (even though he's great at those too)), something more drummers need to learn to love
Yes, its not about showing how much you can do. I think they go out there and they show you the very sanctuary of their drumming life. Its a very intimate experience because he shows you how he really feels about his instrument and drumming in general. And i think its much better than watching a guy playing super-fast para-diddles and 32 note triplets on toms with double bass rolls all over. Its same old shit nobody cares about that anymore.
Are you thick? "only drummer with such a passion for making good noise" well that's your opinion on good noise, I would much rather go listen to JP Bouvets than this, I don't like this "Noise" you're talking about, JP has his matching passion for his "noise", never say only one drummer or person has passion in something, none of the performers would have been there if they didn't dude!
Liam Chaytor I listen in it's entirety every solo I stumble upon of Benny Greb, just cause I like listening to it, most drummers solo irritate me after 3 minutes buddy rich style lol XD, JP bouvet is fucking annoying to listen to WTF is that,
Zack is right, Greb learns to listen and most importantly love what he's playing.
If he likes it, you probly will, and it seems only Greb and a few listen to that.

I watch this at least once a week. Its usually when I have a rough day or when my spirits are low, but tonight i decided to not watch Benny play but instead closed my eyes and LISTEN to Benny play. It is literally completely different experience. I realized that with my eyes I focused so much on how Benny is playing rather than what Benny is actually playing/saying. Try it! seriously close your eyes or close your laptops. From beginning to end just listen. Dont peak. Benny is quite a storyteller

The transition to another rhythm at 4:35, sweet and then from that to the licks in that rythm...amazing

He is Incredible. It is like he turns the kit into a different instrument. So unique!
his solo style has changed a lot since 2005, he used to play so much faster, with more drums and more pedals. Now he puts more emphasis on groove ideas, and dynamics, his set-up is also much smaller. Great drummer, one of my all time favorites, such an inspiration.

Learning from this guy was probably the best thing that happened in my life, it does not only make you improve in drums or music, but his methods also changes you as a person. Its a must for any musician to learn from the Benny Greb. He can change lives.

This is absolutely masterful. stick control, technique, tonality, poly rhythms, etc etc etc. This guy PLAYS the instruments of the kit, he doesn't bludgeon them. This is a drummer.

I've watched this probably 150 times at least now. The Steve gadd inspired musicality starting at 6:00 is perfect. And the entire piece just has a great balance of structure and free-form. Phenomenal drumming

Wow, I think this solo embodies most of the elements from Benny's history of drum solos. It contains some new and old grooves with his magic touch of expression and flow. 15 minutes of what makes Benny truly awesome!

Absolutely unreal. One of the most inspirational and influential drummers for me, personally. He brings the groove, the creativity, the musicality, and the chops all in one solo. It just blows my mind. I also own one of his signature cymbals (the 22inch crash-ride) and hope to get the others. Everything just sounds so good! Thank you for playing drums the way you do, Benny!
