I just purchased this exact unit off Amazon solely because of your reviews John. I thank you for all the awesome vids you do and I look forward to watching more of them soon. That said, Insta-Pot, if you ever watch this, you should totally refund this man his money and give him other units you make free to test in the future. His vids are why I bought this machine and I'm sure why many other people purchased as well. This man is the best salesman you have. He's honest, upfront, detailed and real. You owe him big time. in my honest opinion. Just saying.
Thank you very much!!! I appreciate that...i am glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching... glad i helped and i do love the unit and it works very well but I do not currently accept any promotions and do not do affiliate programs but your comment is good to hear... thanks again!!!
Just got mine for Father's Day. Here's my recipe for fresh-cut fries that mimics my traditional double-fry in peanut oil method. Spuds are par-cooked in microwave first so less time is needed in air fryer. This helps keep fries creamy inside and crispy on outside. Food coloring drops helps creates classic gold brown color. Peel 1-4 russet or Idaho potatoes (depending upon size) Use fry cutter or cut by hand into consistently-sized sticks (about .75 cm). Rinse thoroughly in cold water. Pat dry. In small bowl, whisk 3 teaspoons peanut oil, 1 drop red food coloring, 1 drop yellow food coloring, 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt (adjust for larger or smaller batches). Thoroughly mix oil mixture with potatoes. Place in a covered microwavable bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Pour mixture into air fryer basket. Air fry at 400 for 5 minutes. Turn over/move around fries. Air fry for another 3-4 minutes. Continue according to taste and crispiness preference. Note: I have a small family, but you can prep and par-cook a much larger batch and air fry in smaller batches for efficient crisping. Experiment with proportions.
Wow! You sure helped me figure out my Air Frier. I’ve had my IP for 2 years and I had no idea how to use this part of it. I’m very confident I can make fries tonight, thanks to your video. THANK YOU!
Again SOOOO Excited to see this used! Can't wait to Air Fry in mine now! I will be able to give away my air fryer....it's amazing what all this crazy thing does! Thanks soo much John!
Hey buddy. still want to do my impression of you. FYI I bought one largely based on your reviews. I cooked a pair of vacuum packed pork chops in sous vide function and they turned out great albeit one was a little more done than the other and I think that is due to lack of water circulation since the one closer to the bottom of the pot where the element is is probably getting a little more heat than the the one above it so for those of you who are following along, I recommend with the sous vide function you flip the meat around occasionally to ensure even and equal cooking. I would say this probably even applies to single portions so you don't get one side of the meat cooked more than the other. Keep up the good work my friend.
I find a hack for making more fries at once! Put a nice amount of fries in the bottom of the instapot as shown. Then place the broil/ dehydrating tray on top and place more fries on that. I cooked at 400 degrees f for 25 mins. I flipped them at the 15 min mark. I’m going to try this next wing dings next! Oh yeah and to take the tray out to flip the fries on the bottom over I had to use two of my hand mixer beaters. I stuck the ends of them into the small holes of the tray, pulled back at a slight angle and pulled it up and out.
I just won one of these in a sweepstakes. I'm super excited and can't wait to get it. I'm doing research and seeing what I can do with it lol. Thanks for the video Jelly007 😀🍟
I keep seeing to leave the air fryer handle in upwards position so it can intake air? Is this probably why it takes a little longer than expected in cooking? I just opened it haven’t used it. But noticed you didn’t keep the handle up.
I think I’m going to purchase I live by the ocean and many houses do not have central air. I can still make our favorite foods without turning in the oven and making the house super hot!
That is a good idea and if you have a covered porch with a receptacle you can use it outside and no heating the house at all...i use mine under my covered deck a lot... no drop cords of course and as long as it is dry and not any chance of it getting rained on it is good... also sometimes I do things that tend to smell... as in collard greens etc to keep from smelling up the house.. thanks for watching!!!
I thought they had to be in a single layer. I never got an air fryer because I want the Ninja foodi. I will see how these french fries do because I often like to have a small amount of french fries as an evening snack and this would be so much easier for me with my hands crippled. :-)
Let me say...they are far easier than frying...and...very very good...and that is my true opinion...I think you you will be impressed and they are not near as much trouble!!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing! I think the internal temp of a frozen french fry needn't be 190+ F, given that it's precooked. The only real objectives, here, are browning the exterior and thawing & heating the inside to a reasonable serving temperature -- something like 130 F.
those fries look good can't wait to get an instant pot duo crisp to have a second air fryer that would be perfect for making casseroles and being able to brown them at the same time

John there is such little information on these air fryers, how do you keep from getting a burn notice when you are trying to cook something in the air fryer basket? Is there a trick so things do not fall through the basket to the bottom of pot?
I'm not sure I follow because I have never gotten a burn notice when air frying and no big problem with items falling through...but I hope this helps and feel free to ask more questions if needed...thanks for watching!!
@@JohnSanders last night I had pressure cooked ribs in pressure cooker, took them out, emptied pot of liquids, then put in air fryer basket, crisp for a few minutes then put bbq sauce on, I got a burn notice on front of machine. I took air fryer out looked in bottom, and was oil and one small dab of bbq sauce. Maybe I should have washed pan, although there didn't seem to be anything after pressure. I will try that next time. Sure it was something I did wrong. Thanks for your answer, I am glad you haven't gotten a burn notice.
Hi john. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and I’ve been enjoying all of them. Great content. I especially like that you respond to a lot of the comments. A lot of the instant pot channels that I’ve been watching don’t do that. So thank you for that. I do have a question for you. I can’t help but thinking that preheating is sort of a moot point. It just seems like after you preheat and then take the lid off to put the food in it would lose a lot of the heat. When you put the food in and lid back on what is the temperature at compared to before you take the lid off?
I do not always preheat, at least for certain items but it does heat the pot and basket... and the heat loss is minimal, it also might help some items that have a lot of surface moisture but honestly it's hard to say and it might be fine to not preheat, I just normally do with French fries and of course with things like steak for searing purposes even though it might be minimal...thanks for watching!
Don’t you find the sneak a peek function on this to be bothersome compared to the Foodi? I really hope you do a review of the Duo Evo Plus. Totally redesigned pot. Check it out. Great work as always.
It is definitely different and will take some getting used to after a year of Ninja...but it is a design I think will work well but s little early to make that decision...the duo evo plus does sound good...thanks for watching!
I just looked up this model. When I did, I noticed Kohl’s offering the NuWave pressure air fryer in a link at the door busting price of $130. What do you like most about the Duo Evo?
I do think that a air Fryer produces a better French fry and I haven't done them in the oven in so long I'm not sure if the time it takes but I do remember having to preheat the oven first also... however this is just a suggestion if the oven works better for you then I that's how you should do it... but... thank you for watching...
