I've been a fan of the original movie since I was a kid. I grew up with this franchise. HTTYD in 2010 was one of the first movies I vividly remember watching. HTTYD 2 broke me. I watch the entire cartoon series, Dragons, Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, Race to the Edge, and the shorts: Legend of the Bonenapper, Book of Dragons, everything. I've watchted everything. I basically know the franchise front to back. HTTYD 3 made me cry so hard. Now, I am getting to see my favorite dragon in Live-Action?! I am so excited. But I am cautiously optimistic. I know this ain't Disney, but it's still a live-action remake, and a remake of a 3D animation movie, unlike Disney, which really did a lot of 2D animation remakes into live-action. However, Dean is coming back, and best of all, John Powell is coming back to score the movie. So I have hope that this movie is going to be good! June can't come soon enough!
They say you’ll be getting live action. But the dragons will all be GCI. And, by the look of the trailer, most of the sets and scenery and a large proportion of the visual components will be CGI too.
I feel VERY conflicted about it looking so much like the original. On the one hand it doesn't feel very fresh but at the same time I guess it's impressive that they achieved it.
@@chriscarpenter1920 I'm yet to see one that has the charm of the original. It's especially egregious on films that are meant for a family audience I'd say
her being black shouldn't be a problem because of "Historical inaccuracy" because its a fictional fantasy world with elements only inspired by real life. the real problem is really, she doesn't look like the animated version, but I see her not looking like animated Astrid to be more of a change in character design from animated to live action rather than woke nonsense because every character in the live action isn't a complete one to one adaptation
I know right??? I am being emotional too every single time i watch the teaser. And the live action version especially the first bond between them makes me wanna have toothless as well in my life like as if he's real creature. That is the power of live action when at the same time keep our child-soul inside. Heart warming indeed! ❤
Right now, at this point in time, it’s a recycling plant I’m afraid. So many of the major movies made in the last decade have been remakes of old films, sequels to older films, prequels of older films or adaptations of stories that have already been told in multiple ways. The creatively bankrupt Disney have been the worst offenders - the only films of any merit being somebody else’s creations that they simply bought out because they have money. Now it looks like Dreamworks are on the same bandwagon. All they had to do was to have based the new movies on the original books. It would have been a more creatively valid enterprise at least. But I guess they figured this would be a quicker, more likely to success, way to make money out of the masses.
Seeing that they made the characters look super similar to their counterparts, it’s gonna be especially noticeable that Astrid is black lol, and not a Nordic blonde girl with blue eyes. They should cast white a white person to play a black character in some movie, so everyone can see why it’s so stupid to race swap characters.
i am worried about this as one who just love the original franchise all 3 movies and the tv series race to the edge wich really got me into the franchise and the music in old franchise is just amazing like test flight or ready the ships and the vikings astrid is my favorite along side hiccup like toothless and stormfly i wonder how she will look like or the red death and the othe vikings teens like snotface and fishlegs and the twins and how about hiccup and astrid i kinda want to see this do more with them
It won’t be 1:1. They have scene and dialogue changes even in the trailer. I think there will be deliberate 1:1 scenes of the most memorable moments with some stylistic changes in between. VERY curious about opening narration/fight with dragons scene
Speaking of Dreamworks, I'd recommend watching The Wild Robot. It's honestly a fantastic film and one of Dreamworks' best. You may need tissues though.
I don’t have a problem with the movie in particular and I think it’s cool that it looks like they are trying to make a faithful adaptation and I really hope that everyone else likes it I just personally can’t seem to feel like how to train your dragon really fit’s in live action I guess? I don’t know I just feel like it looks weird outside of animation but I hope everyone else likes it and I do wish for its success.
Its a 1to1 live action version if the original and i hope it stays that way a remake tonget a new audience for kids who werent there for the first one i was 7 when the original came out and im excited to see this movie fight me
I love these movies, I hope they live up to the originals and if this teaser is any indication it will. Also Vee I called Toothless baby at same time you did, he's so precious.
I would have never found this without your channel. I really hope the studios start to realize the positive impact that UA-cam reactors, like you, Addie Counts, Cinebinge, and PIB, can have on their projects.
The problem is the studios have greed in their eyes. Instead of giving the public what they want they have been pumping out mediocre stuff just to string us alond and bleed us of our cash. Theres like what 7 or 8 Resident Evil movies and only the last one had some fan service.
These scenes are shot-for-shot the exact same as the animation, down to the expression. Hoping to see see something different in the final release at least.
I think it’ll be super jarring and noticeable that Astrid is black when all the other characters look practically identical to their counterparts. They’re Vikings, Astrid is a Nordic blonde with blue eyes, but they chose a black actress. Someone should cast a white person to play a black character in some movie just to prove how stupid is is to race swap characters. They should cast donald glover as Superman, he’s a great actor .

this movie is going to be amazing and hope the other movies and series will be live action as this first one will be this trailer is amazing and can;t wait to see the movie in 2025
Live action adaptations have really not lived up to expectations. I think the main issue a lot of people have is, “why does this need to be made?” If it looks the same, tells the same story, even has the same actors, but it just happens to be live action… did it really need to be made at all?
Like how they should bring back all the old car models just with updated components. Wish they'd do that. Imagine a 57 chevy but brand new. Or a Mustang. Or a Ford Pinto...
Why are reboots happening so quickly these days? For example, the gap between Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Andrew Garfield’s was just five years and two months, and even shorter between Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland at only two years. Now, the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon is set to release just six years after the last animated installment. At least Disney waited a while for some of their live-action remakes. Speaking of which, the only Disney live-action adaptation I truly enjoyed was the 2016 The Jungle Book. It struck the perfect balance between nostalgia and originality, making it feel fresh. Currently, Universal seems to be following in Disney’s footsteps, but there’s already controversy brewing over the casting of Astrid. Since the story is set in the Viking era, some are questioning how modern-day diversity and inclusivity will fit into that historical context despite it being a fantasy film.
astrid's actor is not black both of her parents are....white she propably gets a little pigment from her grand parents and what it seems like the make up crew saw this and gave her a better foundation so she at least looks whiter
I mean the first film in this franchise came out in 2010... It'll be 15 years between film adaptations.. that's not the worst timeframe imo. Plus the kids that saw this when they were 10+ years old could be parents now.. idk how old you are or if you fall into this age range but imagine how they'd feel seeing this
Yeah the only thing is that Astrid is wrong casting she should be white blond hair and blue eyes!! And what do we get black actress with brown dreadlock hair wtf!! Its same actress who plays sara in last of us and there it was wrong casting too!

Cause its more real? ...sorry. im just...i dont understand why remaking this one so soon. It screams of desparatuon to hold onto the rights. Ill stick with the 3 classic films this time i think.
So uh.. the original film came out in 2010.. it'll be 15 years old by the time this comes out. I know, it hurt to realize that out too, I'm getting old 😅 Also this won't be a 1:1 remake. It's gunna be more closely adapted from the books the original animation is based on. This is coming from the director of the live action who actually directed all 3 animated films.
Also about the why people hold live action is such high regard, some people just cannot connect with animated films. It might seem shallow, and maybe it is, but its simply the reality of the film industry that for many years, animation was a kids thing. That's changed in recent years but some just can't get into it. This gives that audience a chance to enjoy this story too, and maybe it'll push them to giving the animation a shot.
@@deathswitch2404 hmm if the original creator is determined to present something new, maybe. As for the time thing. I dont know to me a remake makes more sense when the og generation has grown even older. See timeframe between each star is born remake or the Thing or Scarface or Nosferatu
