They focus on stoick because gerald butler was the voice actor and is now also the live action actor. This is also directed by the same director as the animation
I myself am a HUGE how to train your dragon fan, it's my favorite movie of all time! But I do understand the critisism that this movie is getting. In my opinion we did not need this, but I'm glad its here for people like me who are just excited about more Httyd. And yes I will be going to the theaters 3 times to see it with multiple different people :)
Gerard Butler, who plays Stoick in the movie also voiced him in the original movie! Dean Deblois, who directed the original movie also directed the live-action.
I really wished we got some book plot points thrown in there. I know they won't, but I think it would lead to the potential of having a longer series with lots of stuff they can pull from but still keeping familiar movie elements.
Some people said its for the money. Well that industry is profit oriented. But there are fans of remake / live action "genre" so this made for those who loves original story and willing to extend their love with merchandises and... Live action ❤
I think everybody, both og fans & new fans, should give remakes a fair chance even if they are crap. What I mean by that is that people should judge it for what it is as if the original never even happened. That's my problem with people reviewing the live action avatar on Netflix. Toomey people were ONLLY comparing it to the original, so much they may as well have been jerking off to it instead of also judging the remake as its own thing. Ofcors, everybody has their right to their opinion & drawing comparisons between the og & remake is perfectly normal. However, I think toomey ONLY compair remakes to the original, make a giant 1-sided argumnt & have such an obvious bias I can bearlly call them propper reviews / vidio essays.
Idk I’m actually really excited for this movie!! It looks like it will actually be a beautiful adaptation and I see it more as a tribute for the original if anything and I’m so here for it!
I'd seen talk about a HtTYD live action movie, but I thought it was just people memeing until I saw the trailer. On the topic of casting, I've seen several racist comments about "black" Astrid, but I've never seen anyone saying that about Toothless. Surely changing a small common green dragon into a much bigger and more powerful unique black dragon would be more of an issue than someone who looks white (at least from the pictures I've seen) playing a character who was previously also white?
i dont think we can call this an adaptation. its literally a one to one remake with higher definition textures, even though the animation of the original still holds up perfectly well. the characters dont look bad, but they do look like cosplays of httyd rather than the actual characters, although i suppose that is unavoidable. toothless just looks like toothless in HD with really dark green eyes for no apparent reason, and outside of the close ups he just looks the same I just know they wont bother giving anything to the original team that came up with the story, the scenes, the charater designs etc. that they have literally copied and by the looks of it they are going to reuse the original soundtrack, which is good because its amazing, but again will john powell see any profit from the music being reused? I just dont see the point of the remake, its not got a new target audience because everyone who would watch it has already seen the animated original, and everyone who likes the original will just see this as a cash-grab knock off because it doesnt look like its adding anything positive. i will probably watch it at some point, but more so i can say i have watched it and so i can say that the original was better, because there is no way the remake can be better
Someone said that the director for the live action version is the same as the animated movie, and that the actor for Stoick was the voice actor for Stoick in the anmiated version, so there's at least some crossover in the team making the movie. But I do agree that there's no need to do the remake other than to jump on an unpopular bandwagon too late (and Dreamworks made Shrek, one of their most popular movies, with a lot of satire of Disney)
The casting is terrible it clearly should have been a muppet movie with Stoik being the only person. Hiccup & Astrid would obviously be Kermit and Miss Piggy
I'm glad it looks good, but I'm still not completely sure this movie was absolutely necessary. Will I go see it? Absolutely. Also while I'm on the subject of the live action ATLA adaptation, I just have to think of it as a completely separate entity. That way I can appreciate it for what it is without comparing it to the original. That's what I had to do with Anne with an E because Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books and that show is nothing like it but still a great show in it's own right.
Hot take: hiccup doesn't look like hiccup, toothless feels weird, and I don't like that, and astrid...weeell... I don't enjoy the casting. It's just that I don't think we need a live action HTTYD. I'm sorry but I'm gonna stay faithful to the original movies cause they're just ✨MASTERPIECES✨
I am so sick of people complaining about the movie being the same as the original movie. That's what it is supposed to be. If it was a different movie it wouldn't be How to Train your dragon. Get over it! Those of us who grew up with the original want the original. As to this person's criticism. Yes you are being a hater on everything, absolutely everything. News flash Vikings didn't have hair salon's. Not every place is bright colored. You have never been to Scotland. As for your complaining on live action. It is fine to do live action . Rather you like it or not stop being such a Karen. Some people out here happen to think allot of anime sucks! Horrible story lines, sucky art work, and No Percy Jackson would totally suck as an animated movie. And before you say how can you say that. Ever seen the animated Beauty and the Beast? Horrible art work, same as The Hunchback of Notre Dame both horrible animated Disney films. Sucky storyline, and absolutely Horrible art work. Yes I will go to see this at the Theater, as it looks damn Good! I loved the original movies, and am excited to see these Characters as real people Not just cartoon characters. As for your review, Totally biased, winey, and totally Karenish. Stop being so closed minded, and opinionated. Your trashing a movie on very little to be so damn critical about. That shows your biased attitude towards it was it your money spent to make it? No. Is it going to effect your life in anyway? No. So don't trash the work that the writers, Director, and actors put into it as badly as you are doing. Or slap those who do like this sort of entertainment in the face , just because it's something you don't like, which is all your doing....There are allot of others out there that hate, or dislike the things your interested in. Yet you don't see them bashing it based on a short clip like you just got done doing... And I have No doubt you would be just as offended with them if they did, as I found your reaction... Stepping off my soap box now.
The live action trailer was better than i thought it would be
Same
Frr
Better than previous ones except one piece that shit is great

The teaser actually looks incredible and the score got me in tears a little bit. I’m really looking forward to this live action.

I'm just gonna see it just because of Hiccup and Toothless. Berk in Live action interests me, what can I say...?
omg a trailer!!! I thought they were going to release it with the Wicked movie on friday!!!
It’s like they took the names of the characters and then changed everything.
I think everybody, both og fans & new fans, should give remakes a fair chance even if they are crap.

Most people don't know the first movie was based on a book at all
i dont think we can call this an adaptation. its literally a one to one remake with higher definition textures, even though the animation of the original still holds up perfectly well. the characters dont look bad, but they do look like cosplays of httyd rather than the actual characters, although i suppose that is unavoidable. toothless just looks like toothless in HD with really dark green eyes for no apparent reason, and outside of the close ups he just looks the same

Ignoring the cast the film itself is phenomenal im putting those negativities under my butt and enjoy the film period

There’s a lot I don’t agree with here but the “you’ve never been to Scotland” accusation is too funny 😂 (I have been to Scotland)
