    Hello from Texas! I admire your style of artistry in painting. I have a tip from 40 years of decorative painting. Save your brown paper bags. Use the side with no printing to lightly sand the painted surface of a project done with any acrylic water-based medium. This is an excellent fine sandpaper that will remove little bits you don't want and give a soft hand for your sealer. It is also hard to over sand and ruin your work.
    The lovely thing about today's chalk paint is its versatility and the amount of pigment in the product. The binders are amazing. We don't have to make anything anymore. Just order online and the man in the brown uniform shows up in a few days! 🥰
    Happy Painting and Thank you for sharing!

    Thank you so much for putting up this video, it was exactly what I had envisaged for a piece I had bought. I’m on the final stage now prior to new handles and waiting to buff up the piece. My finished look is just as beautiful as yours. My chalk painting has been pretty basic to date, but as with all your beautifully explained pieces, I was able to easily follow your leads.

      @The Reclaimed Heirloom Honfleur is one of my favorites too and of course I only have the tiniest bit left!😭 Now my only problem is figuring out where to purchase my ASCP (I’m in the U.S.) because the last time I made a trip to my local retailer she hardly had any AS left, and what she did have was on clearance. She told me they had to do a big changeover to Jolie Paint and assured me this paint was made by the same manufacturer that made Annie’s, would have the same colors but different names, and the reason was because Annie was changing manufacturers and said something about the new manufacturer not being in the U.S.(???) It was a bit confusing to me. I tried a sample of the Jolie Paint and it’s a very nice paint, but I’d still love to be able to purchase Annie Sloan. I think I may have found someone through Pinterest to purchase from, so fingers crossed!! I will definitely send you pics once my project is completed! Wish me luck!🥰

      Hi!!! I am based in Canada and I had a similar situation where there was no local stockist near me at the time. What I did I was able to find a stockist in another province (State) that shipped AS paint out to me. What you can do is if you go to the AS web site (www.anniesloan.com) and just go to find your local stockist and see if there is one near you check for a few. Then, just check the stockist's own web site to see if they do shipping. I hope this helps you find some Honfleur!!🙏🎨

      @The Reclaimed Heirloom
      Hi again!!😊 Thank you so much for telling me this! I didn’t even think to check for other nearby stockists, or even in other states, because after listening to my local stockist explain it, I was under the impression that Annie Sloan’s paint would no longer be sold anywhere in the U.S. I’m hoping I misunderstood. 😳 I’m going to go check Annie’s website now! Thanks again!!♥️

      Hi Tara, Glaze allows you to use different color tones, I personally find it easier to play with and if needed to remove. Overall the effect is a little different. Glaze medium is more thinner and moist to work with. I have a few other videos you can learn more about glaze and or waxing. If you go to my video lists I have them separated out. I hope this helps! ❤️🙏🎨

    Beautiful and incredible work Christina! Two questions, did you use shellac before you started painting? And the second thing to finish off the piece instead of clear wax, could you use water-based topcoat High-Performance from the General Finishes line??

    • @TheReclaimedHeirloom
      @TheReclaimedHeirloom  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Ana for this piece I did not use a Shellac, but if you have a piece that has the tanning or bleed through potential I would use the Shellac. For sure you can use topcoat High-Performance from General Finishes, they have a great product line! I have used many of their products! The top coat is a great medium to use rather than wax if you know the piece will be in a high traffic use area! 🙏🎨❤️

    Hi Christina! Thank you so much for the tutorial. I have a little table that I would like to do this way. Question: I have the hon fleur but not the Chicago Grey. I do have old white, though. Do you think the old white would work?

      The Reclaimed Heirloom thank you so much Christina, I've learned tho, that I need to do practice boards. I learned the hard way but I think sometimes we need to😊

      Barbara Golden ... absolutely!! I did that and honestly when I want to try new techniques of effects I practice on scrap boards and even try a few times until I feel comfortable!

      The Reclaimed Heirloom Thank you for being so kind Christina. Off-topic, I gotta tell you I love your sense of clothing style. I know you’re dressing to work/paint, (and it’s very casual of course), but I can tell you’ve got style, girl! Just sayin’😊

    Love it, would definitely had stained the top but otherwise so lovely. Does the texture dry flat?

    First time here! Love how it turned out….WOULD THIS technique work on a leather chair ? Are would these products ruin the leather? ( its a off white )

    • @TheReclaimedHeirloom

      Thank you 🙏 so much Tina for your kind comment and I have a full video on painting an old leather chair originally white. I wanted to create a rich off brown leather and fix the cracks on the chair and yes you can use paint and clear wax for softer touch on older leather to recreate a new look!
      Thanks again for your feedback!
      🤗♥️♥️

      Hi there and thank you for responding;
      Can you use the glazes on leather???

    I just discovered your videos. Love watching them. I'm collecting paints and supplies to attempt my first chalk painted piece.
    I have hearing issues, and the background music you use is too loud for me. I mute my TV, but then I can't hear the valuable info you give.

      Hi Barbara!! I just added close captioning to my videos, not sure if this could help you. I have a new video out today and the music in my latest videos are much softer. I hope this helps! ❤️🎨🙏

    I just love your video’s... I share a house with others and have to turn up the volume when you talk and turn down the music. Is there anything I can do to prevent this volume change?

    Can anyone please tell me what the glaze is.
    Glaze is not available in Pakistan..
    Can we get the effects of glaze if we use matt varnish instead of glaza

    • @TheReclaimedHeirloom

      Hi check your local paint store to see if they have wall glaze, you can't get the same finish with a matt varnish. ❤️🎨🙏

    Did you sand original piece before you began?
    And are you letting all paint dry before moving on to next step.
    Thank you :)

    • @TheReclaimedHeirloom
      @TheReclaimedHeirloom  4 роки тому +2

      Fugitive Irons ... I did not sand this piece before I began painting. Each step I let dry before the application of wash or glaze 😉
      Chalk paint and the glaze dry very quickly 💙🎨

      Fugitive Irons ... I really appreciate your kind comment and feedback 🙏💙💙
      As for brushes, everyone’s dexterity is different so what I use and prefer maybe different for you but I do recommend a good quality and ones without the handles on them are super helpful, if your painting insides and shelves etc the handle brushes become restrictive.
      I use pixie belle, Wooster , and Annie Sloan brushes ... my all time favourite is the Staalmeester ( German brand) by far are the best quality and can withstand my excessive amount of painting on all surfaces! Every single one I have is still in mint condition! The finishes are by far the smoothest.
      Another brand I only have one of but I am truly impressed by is Zibra brushes! Hope this helps 😉🎨

    Do my method with the dabbing motion. Making it look old you need different applications on the piece. Make it look uneven. Not all the dabbing motion.

      Hola Beatriz, Glaze es un aditivo de pintura que extiende el tiempo de trabajo de la pintura y le da más textura a la superficie. Puede obtener esmalte en tiendas de pintura o en tiendas de mejoras para el hogar también. 🙏🎨💕
