Apart from loving your work--this piece is stunning So much detail. You also are very smart to have a hairless cat. My 2 are rescues-- Starving, terrified, and tiny when they turned up outside my nextdoor neighbor's house. Lots of hair!
Oh Christina! What a fabulous piece to learn on! So many wonderful techniques that lead to a beautiful finish! I LOVE IT! ooooh, and sweet Dimitri 🥰 what a sweetie baby ❤
Nikki Lloyd ... many thanks Nikki for your thoughtful comment and support 🙏💙 My little man is a sweetheart and so affectionate 🤗 It’s sometimes really weird to see beautiful cats with fur lol 😂
Houston Calhoun ... thank you so much Houston 🙏💙🎨 This was a super tricky piece to re-style, both style and painting lol 😂 It’s actually one ☝️ of my own personal pieces and I wanted it to suit the location it sits in but at the same time I really wanted something warm and inviting with colour tones! Thank you again for your thoughtful words 🤗💙
Elastic tip is brilliant, I really needed that. Piece is gorgeous, but than again I wouldn't expect anything but perfection from you, Christina. You go ahead and keep it, I'll take the kitty in sweater, lol
Cross hatching in small sections for ragging technique, another great tip. I learn so much from you, sweetie, if we continue like this, I'ma gonna gotta give ya my 1st born. Please don't forget to wink at least once on your videos, lol Much love! XXX
Wow this is so stunning!!!!Thank you for sharing this Christina!!!! (Maritart)Gorgeous job as always!!!Nice colours and waxes combination!I have no words!Beautiful!!!!!
OMG!!!! Amazing transformation on an amazing piece of furniture…you blew it out of the park. I didn’t expect the white wax and when you pulled it out, my head literally jumped back from the screen and I said no!!! Well, I’m headed out to try to find some AS white wax today. Great job as always and I hope you keep this piece for yourself. Thank you for sharing all of your awesome talent with us!

Hi there! I really enjoyed watching your video. The end result and the process overall was very informative. I loved the result. You’re very talented and this piece is truly work of art… Bravo ❤️
Hi Gloria!!! Thank you so much for the kind words!!! Glad you liked it! I have another new tutorial posting tomorrow (Saturday) I hope you enjoy it!!! Thanks for subscribing!! 🎨🙏❤️
What a stunning piece of furniture and how fabulous it looked when you had finished. I have a lot of old charm furniture that I want to paint but just dont know where to start. I will keep watching in the hope for inspiration as I am not very brave. Loved the finish piece very much.
Hi Diane!! You can do it!! Just start with a small piece and go from there! I have a new tutorial out today, I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think! ❤️🎨🙏
OMG Ms Christina it’s a beautiful piece the most ornate piece I have ever seen. I got some General Finish Glaze effects and going to try it on a dresser I have. Can’t wait. 🥰
haaa that i like that! This piece is sublime! I love the stuff you give over the video, which you can apply to any room. Your videos are very valuable! Thank you ! :D
Beautiful !! The details on this piece are amazing. The colors of paint and wax really bring out the details. Oh by the way; love your hairless cat. Thanks for a great video !!
Wow...first off gorgeous piece❤️ Then the paint highlights, lowlights, all the waxes just Gorgeous🙌🏻 Amazing to me how timely this video is as I’m going to pick up a piece this evening ...small oak table ..30” tall ...18” x18” top.... one deep drawer ....open on bottom with this GORGEOUS wood carving of 2 Griffins facing each other on the face of the drawer! When I saw on Facebook Marketplace I thought how FUN would that be to paint!! They originally wanted $100 just lowered to $80...it almost looks home made/Handmade? bc of the way the drawer is attached ...with 2 big dovetail joints....but idk... when I researched Griffin wood carvings online I saw lots of either huge ornate pieces or maybe just a cabinet door $99- $500 depending on size and detail. The table does have very ornate legs but not rolled so it’s interesting! Can’t wait to pick up and check it out! Thanks for sharing this awesome tutorial😊k
Kimberly Drake ... that piece sounds just gorgeous Kimberly!! 🙌🙌 I would really love to see what beautiful colour palate and design you do! I have found a few pieces on the marketplace of FB and you have to jump on it when it catches your eye!! I wish I could have a better photo of this piece but it is so extremely heavy!! I had to make the best of what I could in the spot it is staying! Thanks so much for your kind words and sharing your stories with a side of adventure 🤗
Hi Christina...I did buy the piece and it is 30” wide and 18” deep so bigger then I thought!! (18”x18” top) the carving is in the drawer not applied to drawer and piece looks old and not hand made ...at least in a bad way lol...When I researched on EBay I saw these drawer fronts I mentioned above with these large dovetail joints in drawer...mine has two for deep drawer...are yours like that? Oh and how or where do I share pieces with you? Thanks as always😊k
You did really good and my cat stays with me when I am In the garage to but there are so many times she jumps on top of something I am painting or painting and I cant have cat paws in all my furniture but I still always let her be out with me I just bring her in when I am done and stuff is drying I like your art here you do alot of good work
Gavin BIDDISCOMBE ... thank you so much Gavin for your kind words and support! I really enjoy painting and my cat doesn’t always like to hang out with my in my studio where I normally paint because it’s cold 🥶 lol 😂 and with no hair he is very picky and whiny 😫 if he gets cold lol 😆 If I was a hairless cat I would be picky about heat too!! Lol I hope your painting is going well!! I have a new tutorial coming out tomorrow using Saltwash, not sure 🤔 if you have heard of it but it’s super cool 😎
Hello! I love your work; you are very talented. Question: Do you seal the piece again after applying the three colored waxes? What do you seal it with? Can you lacquer after wax? You explain the processes very well. I am going to attempt to duplicate this today.
¡Hola! Por lo general, no empiezo con pintura de tiza. sin embargo, algunas personas usan imprimación primero a veces para cubrir el barniz viejo o la pintura que puede sangrar. 🙏🎨💕
Wow what a piece. I’d love to know the history of it. Where it’s from, why so ornate, etc. You did an amazing job on it. Did you sell it or keeping it for your own use? Love it 😊
... thank you so much Carla 🙏 for your kind comment and yes definitely going to keep this piece , I actually found this this piece a few years ago on FB for sell 💙💙
Absolutely beautiful🌺👏❤️. I really love the way you used white and dark wax to give highlights and and lowlights. I have learned a lot from your tutorials. I have a question, I am painting my nightstands in old white color, do you think lacquer is going to be better than wax to seal it since it is high traffic? Thanks in advance for your advice 🙏
Amparo Ardila ... thank you so much for your kind comment 🙏💙 I definitely recommend Lacquer for a highly used piece of furniture, it’s more durable and protective, I even recommend 2 coats of lacquer, it dries very quickly so can be applied with in an hour of each coat 😉🤗
Queens Little Corner ... thank you so much for your kind comment 🙏💙🎨 I am not sure 🤔 how old the piece is , I bought it used from an estate sale like 8 years ago I have wanted to paint for a long time but I am guessing maybe 20-25 yrs. It looks older than it is lol 😂
What can I say, just stunning work. One question Christina, do you ever feel at any stage you feel your arm is going to fall off with all that stippling motion you do.
Kathleen McKenzie ... thank you so much Kathleen for your thoughtful comment 🙏💙 So the main difference between lacquer and varnish : Varnish is what was used many years ago and it was design to be flexible which is great 👍🏻 but for long term durability it changes to chip or crack. Lacquer is a heavier more durable protective product that won’t chip or crack as it is not flexible so to use on a chalk painted piece of furniture is more protective and the better choice as a sealer 😉 Both are so similar in what it is used for but one is flexible (Varnish) and lacquer is not. Hope this helps 😉☺️
Where did you get your hands on this one of kind piece??? I assume it is a reproduction, not an original antique? Enjoyed watching the subtle colors and technique you demonstrated. Understated and elegant. One thing I must comment on is your distinctive voice. Who speaks like that? A radio host, television commentator....? Your sound is so smooth, uplifting, comforting. You should hire yourself out to record audio books, certainly to use commercially. (More $$$ than painting furniture) Your elegant voice should be capitalized on!
Sydni Moser .. thank you so much Sydni 🙏💙 for your thoughtful comment and feedback 🤗 I actually use to do voiceover work years ago lol 😂 But hearing yourself, you think 🤔 your not good enough to go professional 🤣 We are always our worst critics! I really appreciate your kind words 🤗💙💙
Belinda Anderson ... thank you so much Belinda for your thoughtful comment 🙏💙 I actually go this piece 8 years ago on Craigslist lol 😂 I just fell in love with the details and I have wanted to paint it for sooooo long ! I originally wasn’t going to make a tutorial on it as it’s my own personal furniture piece but I thought 💭 it might be helpful for those that have a detailed piece of furniture and ways to create highlights and lowlights with the raised carving! 😉💙
Bethany Wright ... I actually found this piece on Craigslist a few years ago, it was so detailed and the carvings were amazing so I am glad I went for it 😉🎨
Hüveyda Chaumont ... I love rusty styles and absolutely would love to make a tutorial on how to create beautiful rusty tones and I have 2 tutorials already but I would love to get even more crafty with the idea 💡
I absolutely love this peace of furniture...gonna be totally sincere, not my colour scheme of personal choice and I don’t like white wax shinning through and from like back..where needs to be shadow is light and where needs to be light on raised bits it’s darker..like inversed rules of art..last 3-5 minutes while watching video inside of me I’m all time saying, girl Noo don’t do that,do that...it fecks up 3D carving and illusion...Only thing I would do with this peace of furniture is take dark wax and work it in deepest places, where shadow should be,where white wax settled on when it was black furniture...I think if you would make background, crevices darker and tops highlight it,this peace would gane a lot and eyes would stop running a trying to make sense of carvings, they would be much more obv
Exactly! Thank you for pointing this out. I was very surprised as it seemed like it was the opposite of how I intuitively thought highlights, lowlights, and shadows work.
I noticed u painted right over the piece .no sanding ? Are u not afraid of peeling ? I’m Asking as I am wanting to redo our detailed dining furniture but afraid coz of the Ton of detail 🙈
I ask that you please consider tweaking the sound tracks on your videos. I find myself frequently lunging for the volume control. You have a very pleasant speaking voice, calm, soothing, more alto than soprano. The timbre of your voice is naturally quiet. I appreciate that you reduce volume on the music during your explanations. The problem is that I find the music too loud during the interval. I am blessed and cursed with sensitive hearing so I'm not a huge fan of music in general. Most of it is unpleasant to my ears. For my part, I would be perfectly happy if you chose to drop the music track entirely rather than fuss with volume.
thanks for your feedback and I will definitely see what I can do! Not sure if you have ever edited videos before but it is not easy lol 😂 I see why people go to college to learn all the details and people have actual careers for different types of editing! Feedback is greatly appreciated 🙏🎨
The piece is absolutely stunning!! But... YOUR KITTY!!!! *love*

Zhi Zhi ... thank you so much for your kind comment 🙏💙
It’s not an antique but definitely an original 😉
Belíssimo!!!
Aline M. Freitas ... 🙏💙🤗 thank you so much
Can you show please if it is possible; -oxidized,antique rusty iron look technique please? I am sure that this style is close to your style.
:)
Hüveyda Chaumont ... I love rusty styles and absolutely would love to make a tutorial on how to create beautiful rusty tones and I have 2 tutorials already but I would love to get even more crafty with the idea 💡
How utterly fine it became... a little too much tomb over it as dark but not now.
I was waiting for the carvings to pop and they never did, seems a shame on such an ornate piece
How long did it take you to do that piece?
Is there a reason for 2 base coats?
HI Nydia! With the all the detail and the original black I needed to cover up 2 coats were needed. ❤️🎨🙏

Thank you!! I hope you enjoy today's new video!!! ❤️🙏🎨
