That is a real compliment, thank you! I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
So sad. Nice comb, beautifully made. It just goes to underscore how important the bee queen is. No queen = no brood = no future. But a queen without her workers is done. So this one is a mystery, but a story wonderfully told. Good reminder of how fragile our honeybees can be and how important it is to help them. Thank you Mr. Ed. - its always fun to watch one of your videos!
I can only think how nice this hive would have been at the abbey or Bubba's, this was a serious hive, and I was really sorry we did not get it. Like you said, the queen is so very important, and at the same time, so vulnerable. Thankfully, there are more bees in homes waiting for me and Bubba to wrangle. Till the next time, God's peace Julie. Mr. Ed
A thought just occurred to me. Because bees put off so much body heat as a group, you could get one of those temperature guns so you could locate bees inside walls and such easier.
That's exactly what I do. It's called a thermal camera, and I use one for almost every job I go on. I have shown it being used on many of my videos, and I know on the video I will post in mid January, I will be using it and showing the image on it. I hope you will bee watching. God's peace Christina. Mr. Ed

There was a signature where the comb was due to the robber bees on it, and there were other signatures as well along the wall as well. However, those were just radiant hear spots due to the fact it was and outside wall and the sun was heating up that spot. Glad you liked the video, thanks for watching. They will fight in the box, and often kill each other. That's why I don't vacuum bees when the robbing is very serious. Good question. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Yes it is. There were at least 3 of them in different places on the comb which leads me to believe something happened to her on her mating flight, and she never returned. Good eyes. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I can't help but think what kind of bees these would have been if we had been able to capture them. Judging on their comb building abilities, these were some very impressive bees. May bee next time. God's peace Sascha. Mr. Ed

M. Ed

Wow. Those combs looked like lungs. Very interesting. I need more education about this. I thought robber bees were bad. Now I'm thinking their scout bees just tipped them off to another free food source? Where is the queen (s) for these bees? The hive that abandoned...where is she? You said "failed", so where did her bees go. Do the robber bees have a different queen? This new box you have created will blend with a new queen hive???? So confused, and learning. Fascinating!!! Do bees need a water source, if so, how close nearby? Thank you so much. You seem so educated and relaxed with these little guys. I want some!!!! Now I am told that my local farmers might pay me a small bit to put some hives on their farms and maintain them!!!! I'm getting closer to affording this. I still need to talk to co-op. And Tennessee has bee inspection for some illness our bees have gotten in the past....still learning.....What would be the best month to start a hive? In a perfect world, since I will have a choice. I'm middle Tennessee....looks to be Zone 7a. Thank you so much for your help!
I'm happy to hear that you read the description of the video. In most of my videos, I give a summary of what went on with the removal in the description, so please read it as it may answer some of your questions. Because you have so many questions, I have a suggestion for you, find a bee club in your area and join it. You do not need to have bees to belong to a club, just a love for them. You will meet some really great folks who can give you valuable information on keeping bee in the area you live and that is very important. Folks up north keep bees different from folks down south, food and climate have everything to do with it. It is very important that you learn to keep bees in your area and the folks in your club can show you that as well as give information on topics such as placement of hives on other peoples property. I wish you all the best on your bee keeping journey, please let me know how your progress goes. God's peace Sally. Mr. Ed
Bees abscond for many reasons, to many for me to list, but as your bee keeping journey begins, you will learn. It's a very sad part of keeping bees, but very much a part of it. Still, at least we did not go home empty handed. God's peace Ed. Mr. Ed

@@JeffHorchoff yea I started watching bee vids with JP some years ago. I've watched a good bit of your back library. In another vid you said you didn't want to give the bees too much room and debated giving them a nuke....whats wrong with too much room?
@@leoncarpenter958 It's my opinion that if there is too much vacant space in a hive body and not enough bees to patrol it, it gives pests an easy space to start making a toe hold in the hive. Of course this idea has to be tweaked during nectar flows as we don't want the bees to swarm either. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
It is a mystery as to why the bees left, my guess is they were forced out by robber bees overrunning the colony. Should try using a mechanics stethoscope in conjunction with your thermal camera to pinpoint hive location. The stethoscopes are cheap as well i got mine for around 10$.
I have used one in the past, but I could never pin point the hive because the sound was so spread out. Thanks for watching and offering your suggestion, I appreciate your help. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Is it likely that you will hear the bees within a wall for example, without the use of any equipment? I have seen you remove some ENORMOUS hives from homes, Mr Ed, I would guess that the sound is pretty noticeable? Great video btw! 👍🏼😊❤️
Hey Jeff I have a question for you there’s only three people I follow Fred you and JP the bee man was wondering if you’ve heard anything from JP haven’t seen a video from him in months thought maybe since he’s in Louisiana as you might know him
I follow Fred, Jp, and a number of other bee wranglers out there in UA-cam, I always love to hear how other wranglers do their thing. JP is still wrangling, I spoke with him a few weeks back, he is just taking care of his business and it is taking a lot more of his time than before. Don't worry, he will be posting again, I just don't know when. I know he and I have talked about doing a collaboration on a video, so I know that will be happening. Thanks for watching Robert, I know there are a lot of guys out there to watch, so I appreciate you choosing my channel as one that you watch. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It would be interesting on each of your extractions to weigh the vacuumed bees and then comb & honey. An inexpensive portable digital scale good at up to 75 lbs might do the trick.
They just seem to be getting easier and easier. By the way you forgot your jelly when you left the other day. You will have to get it next time. Hope you had a great Christmas. My removal video is approaching 200 views, slowly. Maybe one day.
I'm old, and deserve easy.....I wish. I did not forget the jelly, you hid it on me as a ploy to get me back up there. OK, it worked, lets do a removal next year and both of us can video it. Congrats on 200, it's climbing. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Mr. ED , Is the Bee Vac a commercial product or is it something you put together ??? If it commercial what is the cost, Thanks Mr ED I love your videos

Haha yes, I've heard that. Maybe that's why I don't have as many wrinkles as other many people my age. I know what you mean about keeping warm. My long hair keeps my neck warm in the winter. : )
I ran into something like that once on my vacation to California I was running in a park and I almost ran into a hive I was so close to hitting it really scared me heheh but it was abandoned they probably had a failing queen or migrated :(
That would scare me if I ran into a bee hive like this one and I was not wearing a suit. My suspicion is when the new queen went off to get mated, something happened to her and she never returned. So I can guess what you'll be doing with all that comb and honey, but what will you be doing with all these robber bees? Just release them somewhere else?
The bees were introduced into another colony at Bubba's. Even though the bees are not from the colony, by placing a sheet of newspaper between the bee boxes to avoid any fighting, after 3 days, when the bees chew through the paper, they become one hive. It's a really cool trick getting new bees introduced into a different colony. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Another awesome video
Thanks Dalton, It's alway great to see you commenting, it let's me know you are out there watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
You are the Bob Ross of Bee Keeping.
That is a real compliment, thank you! I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them.
Mr. Ed
That's a neat hive, thanks for sharing Jeff!
Interesting for sure. Thank you for watching. God's peace.
Mr.

Greetings from Paris Mr. Ed. Thank you for another great upload and God bless.

Trying to watch while being very sick. I have the flu...
Always nice watching you wrangle!
God continue to abundantly bless you, brother!
What a terrible time to have the flu, I'm so sorry. I hope the influx of Mr. Ed's videos are helping to pass the time and make it somewhat more bearable. I hope you are feeling better soon Carolyn. God's peace.

So the heat signature was from the missing insulation? Great video as usual. I appreciate your sharing you wrangling with the rest of us!
There was a signature where the comb was due to the robber bees on it, and there were other signatures as well along the wall as well. However, those were just radiant hear spots due to the fact it was and outside wall and the sun was heating up that spot. Glad you liked the video, thanks for watching. Till the next one, God's peace.

What if you vacuum original bees with robbing bees in empty box ?
They will fight in the box, and often kill each other. That's why I don't vacuum bees when the robbing is very serious. Good question. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
At 8:57 when you show some of the beginning footage, is that a Queen Cell? on the edge of the second stack of comb??
Yes it is. There were at least 3 of them in different places on the comb which leads me to believe something happened to her on her mating flight, and she never returned. Good eyes. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
thanks for sharing, even if you had no real luck this Time... it would have been a big hive if they have not left....
I can't help but think what kind of bees these would have been if we had been able to capture them. Judging on their comb building abilities, these were some very impressive bees. May bee next time. God's peace Sascha.
Mr. Ed
Wow never seen that before on yt, maybe they were Christmas shopping or put visiting ho ho ho TC...

Sorry. Read the description, it answered 2 questions......about the queens.
Mr. Ed
Why would they just leave? Did the whole hive swarm?
Bees abscond for many reasons, to many for me to list, but as your bee keeping journey begins, you will learn. It's a very sad part of keeping bees, but very much a part of it. Still, at least we did not go home empty handed. God's peace Ed.

If there is brood would it be viable or do bees in some way attend to it while capped that the colonies departure would be harmful to it?
The brood was no longer viable as it had been abandoned days before, and left unattended, it will perish.
Mr. Ed
so they just up and left? what happend? is it possible that people have combs like this in their house with no active bees living there?
It is a mystery as to why the bees left, my guess is they were forced out by robber bees overrunning the colony. It is very possible to have comb like this in a house, but sooner or later, bees will find it and take up a new residence there. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance.

It would be interesting on each of your extractions to weigh the vacuumed bees and then comb & honey. An inexpensive portable digital scale good at up to 75 lbs might do the trick.
Wow..as Col. Sanders would say: they flew the coup 😁

The other signatures were radiant heat marks and not comb or bees. Because this was an outside wall, there were spots that were hot and the camera picked them up. I hope that clears it up for you. God's peace Pat.
