Dude it’s been like that. These guys are not journalist or car reviewers. They are presenters who are financially incentivized to not be negative towards automakers.
My perspective on blue cruise/self driving etc. You’re paying a premium to have a car do what you’re capable of doing all while not being able to used the time saved of “not driving” to accomplish other tasks as you’re still required to watch the road in front of you and place hands on the wheel. Literally paying for an option to do what you still technically have to do, while not gaining any freedom from it doing it
Can't speak for BlueCruise, but Ford CoPilot360 literally saved my life when an 18-wheeler abruptly changed lanes as the driver dozed off. I was passing, and the car immediately slammed on the breaks. The side sensors detected the truck beside me, swerving into the lane before I did. Then, the car settled behind the truck and came back up to speed. I passed the trucker who waved an apology. I know I would have been hit and pushed or ricocheted into the grass median. At 120km/hr, I would have rolled. I won't buy a car again without making sure this feature is added.
@@CoolTatts So let me get this straight... you think you were incapable of slamming on the brakes yourself when an 18 wheeler started veering into your lane? Having been in that situation a handful of times myself, I can say - I can. On the other hand, I haven't randomly slammed on the brakes because of some phantom computing glitch, like so many of these systems have demonstrated that they're capable of doing (the pileup in the San Francisco tunnel when a Tesla slammed on its brakes when it entered the tunnel is an example that comes to mind). Remember, that machine has absolutely no sense of self-preservation whatsoever.

Nah, even regular lane keep assist does wonders to relieve fatigue during long drives. I'm personally never making the 7 hour trip between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Berlin, Maryland without some sort of good driver assistance again, even if it means using the smaller car. Just did the trip last week and the difference between how I felt when I arrived VS how I felt last time we made the trip in our older vehicle was quite literally night and day. And that was just the standard Lane Keep Assist on my wifes Hyundai coupled with basic cruise control. Something like Supercruise or Blue Cruise could really turn a long stressful drive into something almost enjoyable.
