My wife and I are teachers in Ohio. As a teacher, I was to say thank you for the helpful tips, replays, knowledge, etc. More knowledge makes for a better life.
You're so right on about listening to your gut. Not just with jumping motorcycles, but in all aspects of life. So many times I had that gut feeling and didn't follow it and regretted it.
the way i got to where im jumping one of the larger jumps at my local track is doing it mid race was 5th and was a second behind 4th and i just gave it all and cleared the jump most amazing feeling ever
Thank you for this video, I watched this on the way to the track and hit my first ever "big" jump (80ft double). All did was get my mind into it and carry and unimaginable amount of speed and I made it. I'm pretty proud considering I was on a ATV
Lots of good advice! Only thing I would add is never go for just "one more" I always get hurt on the one more times 😁. Pack it up and call it a good day and have another!!!
Fast Tings i think im scared i’ll just under shoot it. if i could match someone’s speed as your mentioning that would help a lot. i watched some nasty cases from guys who actually know what they are doing and i have no clue what i’m doing lol
I've been looking at the big jump at my "local" track for some time now. I watched all your other videos on jumping techniques and mistakes. Now this one comes along and is perfect :)
I really like how the guy doesn't say that you need the best suspension and that(like a lot say) which I'm sure gives much more confident for the riders who have a lower budget or do not want to spend as much money on their bikes much respect man👍👍👍
Hey, I like your Risk Management, if I were to have checked my friends bike before doing a big jump I wouldn't be living with a Broken back injury..(Had a real bad bog in mid air, Bike turned off did a nice Front flip, Turned out air screw came out) Reducing risk is Major, Committing is a must everyday all day, Every time you fall get back up (unless you had an injury) get back up 6 months later you'll always become a better rider than before =)
About those mounting bolts on the KTM. Similar issue with dodge corvettes. I was driving my 98 Dodge Corvette one time and the engine fell out blew over the windshield bounced off my trunk then landed in the bed of a ford silverado driving behind me. Since my dodge was already in neutral i just kept rolling to the shop and he followed me all the way there with my engine. Thank god i was wearing my seat belt! Always make sure the mounting bolts are secure.
A quick hello from the hospital bed, before the surgery to get my arms back in place Had some minor problems understand all of your 5 tips. But pretty sure I will make it next time.

Nice video I’m to scared to hit our biggest jump at the track cause I keep thinking my body is going to fly higher then my bike and get kicked off haha happened once before but I’m starting to control it better now just not confident yet on massive table tops
This is dope I'm learning everything before I get my first 250 I live in del valle right by the race track can't wait to soon hit big jumps like this you guys are awesome. Really cool you ride austin
Thank You guys for the video. There is one very important thing I think You shoud talk about. Besides casing and overjumping we face many times the situation when the bike starts going sideways in the air while jumping big airs. Would You please talk about the reasons of that, how to avoid it and how to correct it in the flight if it is still possible, and how to land when You are sideways.
You go sideways usually because of the lip of the jump has a high spot or groove (rutted) and it kicks the back out. I have had the wind on very strong days blow me sideways in the air before.
@@coloradodirtbike5930 They say it is so, but I investigated many lips and some of them were very rutted but still flying straight and some of them were pretty much flat and flew sideways, so it seems to me that it is mostly the way how You start flying, whether You are in balance or not or may be something else. So What is the recepy of landing? Just full gas? What do You suppose to do in the air in that case?
@@andrey0770 I'm not a professional by any means but yea you land with gas because it makes the landing much smoother and makes the suspension work easier. Best recommendation for when the bike starts going sideways in the air, try to use your leg strength and get the bike straight again. Maybe your bars are going side ways, right as you take off on the lip, kind of like a whip or scrub affect.
@@coloradodirtbike5930 Thanks. I have heared of those techniques before and I use them in those cases. Just would be great if the authors of the video would have known some special uncommon but very helpful tips to share about it.
I'm a subscriber! Lol.. I'm going to finally get back on a bike after I get laid off in may.. haven't rode since 2005 on my 03 Yz450f.. thinking of getting a yz250 two stroke. Or for kicks a kx500.
So grateful you do this. Maybe I'd ask my sons younger on an 85 2 stroke. They rarely water and the track is brutally hard at fox SD. Flat turns as well. I'd ask about tire pressure as well attacking that California rubbish dry pack. I'll ask later about the sand this fall. You're awesome!
I was about to buy an old vintage dt 100 tracker, I lost my wallet on the way upon the meetup haha. really devastated but guess what it led me to --> The Mx Factory and that last expression about following others made me smile again hahahaha. new subscriber here, visions have change. can't afford a ktm. but Im considering yamaha yz 250 for practical reason. and soon I will hit that HUMONGOUUUUUS jump ahaha... or probably get lost in the woods after a clean rebuild & inspection. much love from ph ♥
Thanks for this I just had an injury a few months ago, and I just hit a 30 ft double in this sand pit behind my house, I keep casing just a little and it's right out of a berm, my only problem is holding my speed I always let out of the berm because I'm still scared
Me, never riding a dirt bike in my life, looking at these videos going i could do this. Lol Edit: It's hilarious that the people that don't get the joke, also can't spell. Also thank you to the people that are nice and supportive
@@donaldtobin6891 i mean he could, he would just have to be wise about it and work his way up gradually and get the hang of things first. Responsibly. But yea, if not, stupid indeed
when you posted this video i never knew that i would use it. Theres a 25 foot double out of bowl turn with only a 50 foot run up. And when you said COMMIT i COMMITTED. Ive only cased it once!!!!!!!!!!
When you are jumping and you are in the air How do you move your motorcycle to the front of the back if you want to change the position of the Market cycle in the air you give more gasoline or hit the brakes which one makes the bike in the air to lean towards the front or towards the back
Pay attention to the wind on big jumps (or just be a beast and shrub the thing) because i found out how much the wind can move you over a 60ft table top. I landed sideways and whiplashed on my left side and really fucked myself up. Broken collarbone, broken rib, punctured lung, and from my part of my foor pointed toward the ground destroying a couple joints in my foot. It fucking hurt, but i accidently put weight on my foot and it snapped back in place. Which i was happy so the DRs wouldn't have to pull and push it

A tip i learned from riding is that leave the biggest jump for the end. Why? Because if some thing wrong happened at least you enjoyed riding
A tip I learned is full send on everything and duct tape zip ties and a pocketknife will fix anything
