Nice review with lots of useful information and impressions. If possible, road noise comparisons on the same stretch of road would make a direct comparison between these two models more meaningful.
Accord is always the best in all Honda automobile products, so will go for the Accord
Type R, and TLX is also the best in my opinion
Theyre the same now...
Ever heard of the type r
@@hasanfarooq6232 and dealers always mark the hell out of it whats the point?
Depends, I think the civic interior is better and I’m a interior person so I would go with the civic!!
I honesty like the civic more because it is smaller. I’ve never been a fan of big sedans. If I wanted more storage I’d just buy an SUV.
The tech and sound system on the civic is better too. Plus the civic has a sunroof and wireless charging.
Civic all the way. Buying one this week actually.
Great comment, I see this exactly like you
Exactly 👏🏿
It’s a two way street. You can have a MUCH better driving experience in an Accord than a CRV for instance. It’s deceiving how much room the Accord has…excellent. Throw in the 2.0T and it’s a no brainer, IMO.
Barely smaller
You do know that the civic is getting bigger right? Size wise they are both identical. The only difference is the length.
I upgraded from the 2020 Civic Ex to the 2021 Accord Sport 1.5L. I loved my civic I was just thinking long term. I do miss my sunroof and remote start. But I can live without them. My Pearl White Accord is BOSS.
The Civic is now literally a replica of the Accord. Accord for me, 2.0T trim.
Personally the Civics Radio looks way better esthetically, would wait for the next refresh of the accord that throws in the newer infotainment
In Canada, our Civic Touring gets heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.
It makes sense mostly due to the climate
We don’t need that
suck it merica
I live in Texas. That would be nice features…1 day a year.
@@grizzybear9111 That is because you can't buy a decent jacket in Canada. Just those stupid buffalo check flannels with bomber hats that look so dorky. You don't have sweaters either.
Right now the civic is winning only because it looks like the accord and it is cheaper. Wait until the next accord comes out.
They're reviewing a fully specced Civic vs a base model accord.
@@Calwinn Yes because they are the same price
I was waiting for this
Wow - a very objective and fact-filled presentation - better than a lot of other UA-cam channels.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great review ... still struggling on which vehicle to purchase. Looking at the Accord Touring , but I like the way that the Civic is more compact ... thanks again ..
For 30K, I'd buy a 2 year old Accord 2.0 Touring...... best of everything!
yessir
Honestly, I test drove the new civic touring and quite frankly, Honda have done a really good job with it. If I'm paying 30k for something, I'd rather have a brand new car. There's no doubt that the accord is more spacious and comfortable, but a 2.0 touring from 2018 will still be more expensive than a 2022 civic 1.5t touring + the gas mileage will be worse off. I'd rather take a new accord over a new civic, but a new civic over an old accord.
@@jerbsherb4391 ...bought my CPO, crystal black pearl, Touring 2.0t with 40k miles for $27,500 out the door on February 25th of this year. Granted, the prices have gone up 4k-6k since then, but you can still find 'em right at $29k-$30k.
@@cincinnatus7354 The microchip/car shortage has only gotten worse since then. Some people that are selling their cars and finding it is worth more with 50k miles than when they first bought it new.
New Civic hatchback is a beast. Probably the best dollar for dollar new auto today.
First and I love this comparison!
Been waiting for this
Would you guys rather have the new Civic hatchback or the 2022 Honda Accord? Also, in the future can you make sure the road noise comparison is tested on the same road & conditions? Otherwise there's a bias against the vehicle driving in worse conditions. Great video gentlemen.
It is almost a difficult choice to make with their zippy nature, but I take the Accord as it edge the Civic with volume of space.
Both are great cars, if I had to choose I would take the civic because a sunroof is something I really want… either way you go, there’s no wrong pick A++
I’d take Accord, but that’s just me.
Wouldn't we all😅
Nice pfp
And yet you have a picture of the new civic, you should probably rethink that
@@GEESKI4X Thankss!
@@elton245ify that picture of that Civic is the exact configuration that I would get. Touring in grey. But I cant find an Accord Touring anywhere so that’s why it’s my pfp.
Perfect review/comparison between the civic vs accord!
Helped me greatly with my decision!
Glad we could help!
what did you get ?
I love your videos
Awesome video!😸
The 2022 Civic is a game changer ~ And these dudes do a great job
Nice job on the comparison. I would take the Accord myself. :)
The new Civic looks like the 9th Generation Honda Accord. I'd personally go for the Accord because of the 2.0 10 speed automatic option.
Great video
That was a great review by the way!
Thanks!
I got the '21 Accord Sport 1.5T in blue color. I love it
The Accord audio system sucks (even with the Premium 10 speaker system) compared to the Civics new Bose system.
CIVIC 100% because it's newer/fresher & better gas mileage, I'd take the Accord but only with the 2.0 engine.
Better gas mileage because it's smaller. Lol.
@@KingTriton1837 Not by much and that's not the only reason....the 180 hp engine is nearly identical in the Civic only having been detuned for better milage.
@@mic7856 I agree, it isn't by much. But that's literally the reason the has mileage is better is because the Accord is still a bigger and heavier vehicle. Every pound makes a difference in your fuel economy.
@@KingTriton1837 and slower
Accord Hybrid Sport; better performance and better gas mileage.
just got myself the 2022 civic sport and i absolutely love everything about it. So much fun to drive and gives you decent power.
If you want power, the turbo has it!
Great head to head. Although I would have given the handling and power to the civic. So Civic should have won this battle. I like both cars but accord is too slow with the 1.5, it definitely needs the 2.0T.
I have a 10th Gen civic touring sedan that I love except for the bluetooth call quality. I hear everyone fine, but the folks on the other end of the call cannot hear me, they say it is too noisy. Ready to buy again, but not if the new civic did not improve in that area!
The infotainment screen on the civic looks fab
I have an 07 accord right now and it is super reliable and I love it. I am planning on getting a new car in a year or two and always thought it was going to be a newer accord. Now that this new generation of the civic is out, I think the civic is winning! I'll have to wait and see if they redesign the accord for 2022, but if they don't, I'll definitely be getting the civic touring. I will be get it a year old though, never buy off the lot!!
Unfortunately used cars are so hard to find the prices are jacked up and are with in 1000 of the new car price so although I usually hate the idea of the depreciation you almost might as well go with the new is barely higher
Bring the hatch back civic if you like
@@got2pitch oh really? i didn't know this. i'll have to make sure and compare new and used prices to make sure i get the best deal
@@cry387pie Accord is getting a ground up redesign for 23'. I love my 22' though.
never was a time that I thought I would choose civic over accord, but 2022 changed that
So funny. I went to get the Accord. We had a 94 Civic until 04. Went mid size after that. So I'm standing on the lot looking at the white Accord I tract down when I realized I was actually looking at a Civic. So much bigger than I remember and look nothing like rocket ships. I drove both of them. Then drove the Civic sport touring home. It offers so much at the same price. It fits our needs much better also.
Thank you very nice comparison
Will take the civic
Do I trade in my 2013 Accord EX-L for the new Civic? This is why this video was awesome. Best video so far on the new 2022 Civic. Subscribed! Love my Honda as I used to only drive Nissan. Will stay with Honda!!
Thank you, Rhonda! Welcome to the Car Confections family!
Accord 5-door Sport please. Come on Honda!!!!
Great comparison! Just thought that the Civic Touring should get half a point for leather upholstery.
I would rather keep my K20 naturally aspirated 2020 Civic. No turbo engine (Standard on all 2021 Accords) and no start stop (standard on all 2022 Civics).
Same in our 2021. We only purchased it last December and glad we got it versus this new trim. The new civic just looks the same as an Accord and is kinda boring to me.
The naturally aspirated civics I’d trust over any Honda turbo no matter how quick it is
If I bought a civic I’d easily go for a 2.0L I4. Or a used accord w the 2.4 or 3.5
@@naveenthemachine the K20 even has that classic Honda startup noise that is so unique, which is missing from the turbo engines. Not really important, but man that Honda startup noise is just so awesome to hear LOL.
@@ldkellandshaw na it doesn't in person at all
22’ Civic has wireless car play, wireless charger, blind spot info system and moon roof which 21’ Sport SE does not. Give me the civic pal.
Both very awesome and beautiful and great value for money
Excellent comparison. I'm waiting for the Civic Si Sedan with manual transmission. Might consider 2022 Civic hatchback Sport with manual also.
Bring the coupes back or at least make the si coupe
The shift knob flies of with the between-shift rev hang.
@@maniac1628 coupes are not coming back. Prelude, accord coupe, S2000, and civic coupe are out of the question now.
That civic all digital customizable speedometer Shoudve been on the accord that feature alone is nice af. I’ll take the civic
Great video. Very descriptive
Thanks! 😁
@@CarConfections now I have to figure out which one I want 😄😄😄
@@CarConfections will there be a comparison video with the sedan and hatchback?
I would choose the Honda Civic hatchback Sport Touring over the Honda Accord because of its greater trunk capacity plus I think it’s better looking. Although I’m sad that the Si version will only be available in the sedan instead of the hatchback. The R type will be offered in the hatchback version but dealers typically price-gouge the R type over $10,000 over the MSRP, plus i think that the R type won’t be available with a sunroof - a deal breaker.
Honda reverted back to the previous chime for the 2022 Civic. Will that startup chime return to the Accord for 2022? And are there any other Hondas out there with the same cheap startup chime as the 2021 Accord?
I wish they didn't axe the old 10 speaker system from the last civic. Would have been nice if they kept it for the mid trims
I have a '15 civic lx so I like the civic. Even though they are close in looks, like front end on civic.
I would only entertain the Accord in the 2.0T trims. I actually want one however I’ll wait until Honda completely redesigns it.
2023
Deciding between a Accord Sport 2.0t and the new 2022 Civic Si
I have 2004 civic with over 212,000 miles on it but drives excellently. Thinking of getting a new sedan next year. I think I love the design of the new civic so would probably go for it!!
I have the same car with +300k miles. The car is running well and with better gas mileage than new version.
Sad that car mileage has not improved over 20 years though. Still the new civic has my eye and would be a good replacement for me.
I wish the new Civic Touring had a 2.0T and maybe an eight speed transmission as an option.
Sounds like something Acura would do for the new Integra:-)
Model trim should have been identical. At least do Civic Touring against Accord Sport SE (for price point comparison) followed by a third comparison with the Honda Accord Touring to see what touring has the most features. Currently, the Accord Touring has features hits other model siblings don't have therefore the SE you're comparing isn't fully equipped to be compared against a Civic.
Need a second car in an year for the family(Have a 2016 CRV 2.4NA), was thinking about the civic touring but this comparison bought me into Accord SE, with similar price i will put my money down for the accord 1.5,,2.0 couldve been nice and more reliable but we gonna drive it mostly in city and the 20mpg or worse with today's fuel price is too much. Thanks for the review
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Great! I would like the Civic instead. Have a great day!
Ikr
Awesome review.
I love my 2020 Accord LX. Awesome car
I have a 2019 accord sport and test drove the 2022 civic sport. I knew off the bat that I was in a car that is smaller, feels less in value, room space and overall look and touch quality. I drove nice, but for the sprice, you're better off paying 3k more for a 2021 or 2022 accord sport or even up it to the 2021 accord sport special edition, great car for 29k
I wouldn’t say feels less in value. This is a touring model I would’ve recommended test driving the highest trim. Which is why it’s in this comparison. The sport civic is 1 above the base model so that’s most likely why you felt that way. The sport and touring are two different cars imo.
Cant wait to get my hatchback sport civic! I would love a 2.0t accord but with the price tag of 26k of the Civic hatch sport it is definitely a win with everything you get and the all new design in and out! Regular 1.5t sport accord is almost 30k and 34k for 2.0t sport starting! It's not even a match at all to compare these cars with more than 4k in difference, not to mention the price tag out the door. Both pretty cars but I'm on the civic hatch!
Watch out for the hatch seal issues. Press cars have been collecting water in the “trunk”
I had a 2018 1.5T Honda Accord, It was the LX model so it was very basic. It was a good car but the biggest issue were the tires. The tires were Goodyear Assurance and they slipped and slide in the rain like no other. Another issue was in high speeds the 1.5T lost steam making passing in the highway a chore. If I were in the market for a Honda family car, I would choose the Accord 2.0T, or opt for the 2022 Honda Civic!
My 2018 actually performs better at high speed I think but then again it’s the sport model
I'll take a 2018 Accord 2.0 Sport.
The Accord 2.0T is the Civic Type R engine de-tuned. And you get a REAL 10 Speed automatic transmission vs the crappy, jerky and numb CVT with its synthetic gears. That means the Accord 2.0T wins by default in my book. 😎👍🏼
They both look awesome. But I’ll take the accord with that 2.0t engine please. :)
Could you compare civic 2021 vs 2022 please?
3 people I know bought civics 2019-2021 had issues within 5k traded them for accords and zero issues since
I have the 2019 with 21,000 MI so far so good it's manual with aspirated engine... So far no issues.
We have 3 Honda Civics 2019- 2021 in my family with zero issues within 5k.
Hard to justify a loaded Civic when you could get a 2.0T Sport trim Accord for not that much more
i agree. 252 ho for the 2.0 turbo
But the 2.0 starts at 32,500, not 29,000. And, the Sport SE trim has more of the luxury features that you get on the higher models such as EX and EX-L. The Sport 2.0 only has the standard LX and Sport 1.5/2.0 features, whereas the Sport SE does not. That is why they chose the Sport SE for this comparison. Personally, I would go for the Touring.
The biggest difference between the 1.5 and 2.0 is if you want to performance definitely go 2.0 but you're sacrificing a shitload of gas mileage. Trust me I have the 19 SI and now I have the 2020 2.0 and I lost like 10 mpg 🤷🏼 the Accord is definitely more of a 🚗💨 but I still miss the Civic at times. Both really really good 🚗💨 & would definitely recommend them both
@@barbz_zayne that’s not true. The sport 2.0 is based on the ex trim. You get sunroof, wireless charger, heated seats etc.
@@nathanbecker9761 EX doesn’t have a wireless charger. The 2.0 is based on the Touring, EX-L, and EX models, having many of the features of those trims.
wheel 18 or 19 is subjective comparison. 18 can take the bump better than 19. 19 looks better but more expensive.
Whenever I see a car driving at 4mph, I get an auditory flashback... it's a voice...the voice says... "What's going on... UA-cam...."
Ha! 😂
I have a 2019 Accord EXL that replaced a 2018 that was damaged during repairs. It has a boat load of problems which I had to claim the Lemon law over back in 2019.The most annoying of all which is an interior vibrating noise pretty much none stop. It has paint and gap issues, I was told the rear end of my car was already painted and it was suppose to be new. My back up camera is all hazy. The indicator only works when it wants to. The lane change is also giving me sporadic problems, along with breaking indicator. Auto headlights didn't work for 3 years, Now they do but my lenses are all hazy and have stains on the inside, with two different colored bulbs. My 12 way seat isn't working properly. It's been in the Shop more than required for replacement. Also everytime I get it back something else is damaged from trying to fix it. They got grease on the visors, headlinger, leather seat and mat. I am disgusted with American Honda. During my arbitration they sent a representative that lied through his teeth. We have had 6 Honda's in my family over the years and never had any problems. They really scrafised quality. There not even acknowledging my lemon claim at this point and gave me a new case number. It's really quite unbelievable what there doing to me. Since I'm disabled it makes it hard for me to afford a lawyer.😡
Music in the background made me think forgot about Dre was about to start
I love both of them, I would pick the Honda Civic
Civic but love the Accord front grill though
The Civic is my choice for the sunroof, peppier acceleration, better tech and sound system, and the headlights and tail lights for me are a nicer design.
I would prefer an equal comparison towards trim level not cost
Road noise is pretty evident in both vehicles. Perhaps better tires?
I love the 2021 accord. But no loans given. I have very poor credit score. 478
i like how civic look more like accord than new accord
At 6:26, are you saying the sound quality is superior in the Civic or Accord?
I'm glad I got my Touring right before the pandemic. Under invoice with tons of accessories. Not happening these days lol.
How much did you pay?
@@SIIKAP1 in February 2020 I paid under 32k w accessories
I love the Civic I'm just not feeling that turbo engine aspirated is enough power for me... I've never really been a hatchback kind of person so the 2022 sedan is out for me.
There’s a 2022 hatchback and sedan.
so you don’t want the hatchback or sedan?
I have the 2020 sedan manual aspirated engine.
I can’t believe at $30,000 Honda doesn’t offer Blindspot monitoring in the accord. I need help you can get a Sonata for 26,000 that has Blindspot
I'm at a toss up. Thinking of trading, I have a 2012 Accord that I bought new. And I've loved it, I just want a newer one. I've loved the roominess of it also. But now I'm at a toss up between an Accord or a Civic.
honestly if roominess is a priority for you i'd go for the accord. I'm 6'4" and all legs so while the civic was surprisingly roomy I had to go for the accord.
Accord always for me👍
Civic price has gone up too much!!!
No wonder civic has gotten bigger and more similar to accord in price and looks!!!
Now they probably enlarge next accord to increase price as well!!!
Would you have given the win to the Civic hatchback or would it be a tie?
I love the Accord.
I cant see any reason other than size and space to go accord over civic this time around
Even if the price point would’ve been nearly 10K the accord touring should be compared to the civic touring. It only makes sense since your comparing top of the line new civic vs slightly above sport or 3rd trim isn’t likely fair in comparison.
I don't know what happened in the design department at Honda's but , they are gorgeous , most beautiful design that I've ever seen on Hondas
I had a 2019 Civic. I now have a 2021 Accord 2.0T Sport. It is by far better than the civic. Its not even close
I’d take the civic cheaper price for a good looking car
but these are the same price which is why they were compared
Great comparo, however, four 6'2" 220 lb guys like me can ride cross-country in my Accord without ever bitching about being cramped. Get an Accord now before they jack up the price!
Bought my 2020 EX-L last year in the height of the pandemic. Taking him on a cross country drive from California to Ohio and back in a few weeks! Can't wait!
I'm 6'3 240 lbs and drove 1200 miles to Florida and back in total comfort. Civic has plenty of space.
The civic. Although I like the power train of the accord the deal breaker for me is the poor sound system in the accord. I would get the civic touring. Listening to music and podcast are important to me.
@@DezLifts See a psychiatrist.
I have to agree. In my 2021 Accord 1.5T Sport, sub-bass is pretty much non-existent, as experienced with the following track: ua-cam.com/video/qy5T7gl2j08/v-deo.html
At the 28s mark, the first pronounced sub-bass hit, it is almost silent in my Accord's stock speakers (bass boosted +1 via the system setting). Midbass is somewhat there, but there's such a severe roll-off in the frequency response as one gets near the sub-bass and below. Overall, the stock sound from the system is embarrassingly bass shy, especially from someone who owns a few Audeze LCD headphones whose frequency response is linear from the mids all the way down to 10Hz.
Furthermore, aftermarket subwoofers will require one to disable Honda's ANC.
I wish they’d make a civic si with a dct. I’m too lazy to be changing my own gears anymore.
absolutely not
I want a coupe model of either trim
How on earth is 192hp and 260nm of torque slow or boring, it creeps into the exciting category
If they would put the engine in the civic from the cord like the 252 hp that would give us about 5.3 to 5.20 to 60 time So that’s what I wish they were paying the civic Kansas City going to be an instant buy then
Praying to Jangus that the next Accord touring gets the Bose stereo.... oh and that they ditch the stapler taillights
