So glad someone finally did this head to head. The Taurus, I mean Accord, seems to have been neutered down to fulltime commuter status. Gone are the days of V6s and 2.0Ts, 6MTs and 10ATs, coupes, etc: it's now all about comfort and mpgs. It makes sense; those things sell the most. Just a shame that most of what made the variety in the Accord lineup fun to drive is now gone. Between the two, especially with the nearly equal price, the choice would be a Civic.
The Civic had the most uncomfortable seats I've seen for a 31k MSRP car. The entry level Elantra had better seats. I got a HB ST and ended up trading it in. Definitely not a commuter, unless your commute is 45 minutes or less max.
The Civic Touring is overall the better package I think, unless you really need the extra space in the Accord. But for 95% of people I think the Civic has sufficient space.
Don’t know why people bash the new Accord design. I was sold on the Civic until I went to the Honda dealer and actually seen the two next to each other in person. The accord caught my eye and I ended up with a 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid in Urban Gray Pearl. Couldn’t be any happier with my decision! Love my new Accord!

@pt93music The way Honda wants it. I've heard they've already discontinued the Accord in several Markets. Hyundai and Kia are just way to superior for The Japanese markets to keep up, Honda Nissan Subaru are the past. Toyota will probably have success for another few years then the same.

Well they're also doing what most companies are, they're shifting away from sedans for SUVs. The Accord sells less so they'll start lowering stuff about it or make it more premium to set it apart. I just drove both hybrid versions of these 2 cars a few days ago and I opted for the Toyota Camry. The Accord had better tech, was much more nimble and handled better, but it was a bit cramped and noisy when compared to the Camry. Both cars are great and it was not an easy choice.
You can just buy premium leather seat covers for the accord for $500. And there are so many minute differences that at the end of the day, the utility of the larger accord wins out for me. Civic can keep the wireless charger, steering wheel warmer and rear heated seats.
I Bought the 2023 Accord back in May. I was not too keen on the looks, but I bought one anyway. To say that I am pleased with the car has been an understatement. I did not get the Civic because EVERYBODY drives a Civic. I never would have imagined years ago that I would be driving an Accord to be DIFFERENT. The roominess of the Accord was the alternative to getting an SUV. As for the CVT, you don't get it until you go on a long drive. Drove from Northern California to Las Vegas, and the CVT really did its thing. I immediately installed lighted LED door sill panels, mudguards, and rear factory spoiler. Later, I added tint windows. From this video, you can't see the platinum white paint in its true glory (The paint color is a $600 cost). In the sunlight, it has a pearlescent reflection that makes the car appear more expensive than it really is. I drove it to Monterey Car Week back in August. The entire week, I only saw ONE 2023 Accord (In Gray). I got several compliments while down there. Some people didn't know that it was an Accord. They were actually looking, trying to figure it out. Even if they did not like it, they did appreciate the fact that it didn't look like every other car being driven.
I’m a small person (4’11”), single, with no kids. So I need a small car. I bought the 2023 Honda Civic Touring in January and am SO happy with it! It’s a beautiful car: meteorite metallic gray (with subtle sparkle) with a two-tone black/gray (ivory) interior. Honda has gone back to their design roots with the understated, polished exterior. The interior is semi-luxury now. It’s just an understated but beautiful car with the Honda reliability. It looks so classy. I love it!
The accord steering wheel material is straight out of the 90's. Has me missing my 96 civic. Pretty much the only thing i prefer from the Accord. I bought the 2023 civic hatch Sport Touring and now I want that steering wheel lol.
Thank you soooo much for reviewing regular consumer cars. You've motivated vehicle purchases for many people who genuinely care about these fine details in cars like Civics.
I like the idea of the accord more, but I just cant stand the styling. It so overly aggressive with no unique traits. If there wasn't a honda badge, I would never have been able to tell it was an accord. Meanwhile the civic look great! It's so different from anything else, and much softer and friendlier instead of the usual sharp angry angles.
I had paddles in my 1.5T accord and I loved it when hauling around backroads. It wasn’t perfect, but it gave me a sense of control. I had an aftermarket intake on my accord and I loved shifting after revving out to a “high RPM” and hearing the fake blow off valve sound.
Hate to break it to you but that accord had a CVT there aren't any real physical gears to shift with that transmission its all simulated shifting, so you never had real control of the car.
I have a 23 civic sport in rallye red, and I love how it looks. With a little spoiler and some tints, and maybe an exhaust replacement down the road, I have high hopes for this beauty. And the way it drives is sensational for an entry level vehicle.
I have a white 2017 Honda Accord EX-L V6. I ABOLUTELY LOVE that car. It looks great and has everything I need. The only thing I hate about it is the fixed seat headrest, which is no small thing. It's so uncomfortable. The new Accord doesn't look as good, but I just hope they fixed the seat head rest.
We live in Virginia and just purchased a 2024 Civic Touring very similar in look to what you drove. But here there is no heated steering wheel. Our has Goodyear Eagle Sport M+S 235 40R 18s. I use to sell Honda’s & Toyota’s so I know the game. We got out the door for $30K with rear spoiler. I have installed ceramic tint and plan on adding HPD kit and upgrading the cat-back exhaust just for better mellow sound. We are old and don’t really drive fast like we use to. We really liked your comparison review and it was very informative and helpful. I was looking at the Corolla but the Civic crushes it in looks and overall performance. Not felling them hybrids yet. So we jump on this one which may be the last of the 100% ICE Civics. This car is a great value in today’s market and no other compact sedan can touch this one. I do wish it wasn’t a CVT but it is good for our driving habits. They had a Type R in the show room and had it marked up to $67K. Wifey didn’t want that and she was happy with the features and cost of the civic. This is here replacement for her 2000 Avalon XLS which was dying a slow death. Damn she actually cried when we signed over the title. 😢😅

The Accord is more comfortable suspension wise it handles bumps and etc way more smoothly and controlled. I own the civic and have the new accord on dè
I was standing beside both 2024 cars and it was hands down the new 2024 Civic , much better styling so I bought it . The back end of the Accord looks plain and cheap.

I have a 2023 Honda accord touring, and I will say that the civic looks better! But the technology is not matching any car that I was aiming for. So I went with the accord touring🤷🏾♀️
The previous Civic was one of ugliest cars ever manufactured snd very polarizing. Therefore the 11th Gen did make the most progress. The 10th gen road noise and engine note were abysmal and in 11th Gen much improved. The Accord went from sports car to family hauler so it has upset people.
I don't think they put money into the Civic at all. Honda just simply put zero money into the Accord and any other vehicle. They made an econocar interior and then put it every new vehicle since developing it for the Civic. Honda has become the 2020s version of American car companies in the 90s with cutting corners to save money any possible way.
@@suppaman19 Their budgets are in the millions as are tooling costs. Cars don't just pooof magically appear from thin air. This goes for all models as well. Just because the style may be identical, the dimensions are all unique.
@James Medina Honda has been doing this for years, but took it to extreme in the latest generation redesigns. I'm well aware of costs, but there's reasons that even Kia's, etc, don't all look identical on the inside. Honda cut and pasted their interiors across the entire lineup. And they did it with using the cheapest vehicle and design.
I have a 2023 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring and I love it. It's also my first Honda. If they made an Accord hatchback I might go there for my next car.
Civic…..because front to back or back to front….I never forget how to spell it. Plus you can get more accessories for a Civic. Well done fellas….another fine video.
I honestly prefer the wired CarPlay over wireless. Wired careplay you can charge your phone while you get CarPlay and often the audio fidelity is higher, if you have wireless car plays you’re still going to plug in your phone to charge it because the wireless chargers in most cars simply isn’t as fast and connection isn’t as good, compared to a direct charge
The Accord needs a front refresh, the rear is perfect though and overall it's not bad at all. The Accord has better rear visibility and hopefully they'll add some other interior color options------such as ivory of beige or gray.
The Civic the Accord and the camera will on my list for a new car. However, I sold a 2016 Civic because it did not have lumbar, and hurt my back on long trips. Of the three cars I think the Civic looks best, but because it does not have lumbar, I have eliminated it. I also think the new Accord looks better than the Camry. But it's three thousand more to get the equivalent hybrid in the Accord than in the Camry. So I'm going to be buying a Camry.
Any bit of driving soul the Accord had left in the 10th generation is well and truly gone in the new model. I know because I've driven both. As Savage Geese put it, the styling feels AI generated. It doesn't mean it's a bad car, but it's definitely very forgettable. If I was forced to buy this car at gun point, I'd have to get a cool color because it's the only thing you can do to add any character to this thing out of the box. Unless you absolutely need extra back seat room, there's no logical reason to buy it over the Civic.
This is the type of comparison video i'm all for. We actually did compare the Civic Touring to the Camry LE Hybrid - in Canada it's almost the same price (~35k including PDI).
My Giulia came with TuxMats they are awesome. Look great and are very durable. No sign of wear so far in almost a year. Highly recommend instead of oem mats, just save the oem mats for when you sell car later on.

I just drove both hybrid versions of these 2 cars a few days ago and I opted for the Toyota Camry. The Accord had better tech, was much more nimble and handled better, but it was a bit cramped and noisy when compared to the Camry. Both cars are great and it was not an easy choice.
How u can say the accord was cramped compared to camry is moronic. Think u need eyes checked
Prius 2023
I’m a small person (4’11”), single, with no kids. So I need a small car. I bought the 2023 Honda Civic Touring in January and am SO happy with it! It’s a beautiful car: meteorite metallic gray (with subtle sparkle) with a two-tone black/gray (ivory) interior. Honda has gone back to their design roots with the understated, polished exterior. The interior is semi-luxury now. It’s just an understated but beautiful car with the Honda reliability. It looks so classy. I love it!
Can you do a top-of-the-line Accord vs comparably priced Integra? And focus on which one “feels” more quality/special/expensive? Love you guys!!!
Honda Civic 2023 and Honda Accord 2023 i love both
I'll stick with my 2016 Accord EX with it's naturally aspirated 2.4 and the Sweet 6 speed manual !
I’ll hang onto my Accord 2.0t Touring until it rusts away to nothing.
I like the minimal approach to the accord
Pure contact tires are sooooo good. Not as sporty as the dws but it handles way better in the rain and snow.
Because of the manual option, the Civic gets my vote Type R
How many manual cars do you own now?
we're talking base models here... not a $25k economy car that MSRPs for $45k, that actually costs $70k.
@@SolarMoth base mod Civic hatch can be had with a manual transmission
@@v8_sami 1 car, and it has a manual transmission
I'm with Yuri. Looks-wise, I prefer the Accord. A much more streamlined, elegant design and fits in better with the Honda lineup.
The accord steering wheel material is straight out of the 90's. Has me missing my 96 civic. Pretty much the only thing i prefer from the Accord. I bought the 2023 civic hatch Sport Touring and now I want that steering wheel lol.
The 96’ Civic was perfect. Loved it much better than my 16’ and 19’ Civics.
Thank you soooo much for reviewing regular consumer cars. You've motivated vehicle purchases for many people who genuinely care about these fine details in cars like Civics.
As a Honda fan it really sucks seeing how brutal these cars look in this generation
Civic looks better and only a little smaller in size. My favorite still the Accord.
Yes. I love the space, this is coming from someone who had a 2019 Honda Civic. With a toddler, the Accord gives me the space that I needed.
i gotta give it to Honda. Love the Accord.
Don’t all 1.5T’s have a CVT?
Hate to break it to you but that accord had a CVT there aren't any real physical gears to shift with that transmission its all simulated shifting, so you never had real control of the car.
I have a 23 civic sport in rallye red, and I love how it looks. With a little spoiler and some tints, and maybe an exhaust replacement down the road, I have high hopes for this beauty. And the way it drives is sensational for an entry level vehicle.
How much are spoilers for a 23 civic? Like cheapest? How much was yours
I want to put the si spoiler on mine. Same color as you too
Man I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on my sonic gray 22' 2.0t sport last year...I was going to wait it out for the 23'
Honda really tried to make the Accord look like the Audi A7 and failed miserably. Last gens design>>>>
Too late, nerds. I just bought a Civic Hatchback 12 hours ago 😎😜
I don’t understand why these are two different cars at this point.
Compact and mid size?
You will if you drive them both.
@@stevehoppenjan I don’t have enough arms and legs to do that.
I just realised that the lower grill on the ACCORD is as if Honda pushed the CIVIC grille down on the bumper..
10th gen civics and accords was really the peak of these cars for economy and performance
I just purchased a 2023 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring last weekend thanks to the straight pipes review!! I travel over 80 miles a day for work and it’s been very comfortable commute, especially coming from a base model Chevy sonic 🤣
Congrats, great upgrade
SUV would’ve been a better smooth ride like the Escalade I travel 70 miles a day and it’s amazing
@@Ameer_30 yes a 30k car vs a 100k suv really smart comparison
@@Ameer_30 no smart person buys an Escalade 💀💀💀
@@Ameer_30 doesn't seem too smart for me to compare a full size V8 SUV to a compact sedan with barely a quarter engine displacement🤔 they might don't need the excess🤔🤔
accord competition is camry , civic competition is corolla.
I was looking for a 23 civic sport touring recently, and the dealer kept asking if I was interested in the accord. Seems like they were having a hard time getting rid of them.
The Accord is more comfortable suspension wise it handles bumps and etc way more smoothly and controlled. I own the civic and have the new accord on dè
"Find a difference between these two pictures."
"... they're the same picture."
Need the extra space - Accord
Don’t - Civic
i actually love how the accord looks, especially from the front
Love the Civic but wish it had tail lights more similar to the Accord
Yeah, the tail lights of those 2 cars should be swapped. But I am ok with the Civic's, it's not bad, just not as sporty look as the Accord's one.
I was standing beside both 2024 cars and it was hands down the new 2024 Civic , much better styling so I bought it . The back end of the Accord looks plain and cheap.
I just got a 2024 Honda Civic Touring in sonic gray Pearl, I love it! My husband is 6’4 and can both ride in and drive it comfortably so anyone saying it’s not big enough doesn’t know what they are talking about
A comparison of cabin noise would have been useful
I have a 2023 Honda accord touring, and I will say that the civic looks better! But the technology is not matching any car that I was aiming for. So I went with the accord touring🤷🏾♀️
Anyone else feel like so much money and effort was put into the Civic this gen, while the Accord was kinda half-assed?
@@suppaman19 Ok🥴🥴🥴if you say
I would take the Civic but I cant phathom paying $30k for a Civic.
Hopefully get better deals on the better old accord.
I have a 2023 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring and I love it. It's also my first Honda. If they made an Accord hatchback I might go there for my next car.
I got the civic touring 23, saw new accord today and trust me civic looks way better in person
Geez, put a bell or a post-it note on one of them. Can’t tell them apart
Civic…..because front to back or back to front….I never forget how to spell it.
Plus you can get more accessories for a Civic. Well done fellas….another fine video.
I think comparing the new integra with the accord would be an interesting comparison
Not true. My 2023 touring Hybrid Accord has wireless charging.
@@kirkvanvranken3560 I have a different vehicle, and I’m speaking on my personal views on CarPlay in general
The Accord needs a front refresh, the rear is perfect though and overall it's not bad at all. The Accord has better rear visibility and hopefully they'll add some other interior color options------such as ivory of beige or gray.
I agree the front grill could be bigger and sharper and the lights could be smaller/same size and sharper
I have a 2016 Honda accord exl v6. Keeping it until the wheels fall off. I love it
The Civic the Accord and the camera will on my list for a new car.
Tsp.TrueCar.com 👍
mate, buy a 5 dollar inflatable lumbar pillow wtf
@@marklion315 Mate you obviously don't have back problems. Otherwise you know a lumbar pillow does not work, especially for long distance driving.
I'm not mad at that because at least your getting a slightly larger and hybrid car with the Camry Hybrid
Sun glasses holder is a must. Thanks honda for putting them in
My Giulia came with TuxMats they are awesome. Look great and are very durable. No sign of wear so far in almost a year. Highly recommend instead of oem mats, just save the oem mats for when you sell car later on.
I finally saw an Accord on the road, I was thought it like as exciting vanilla ice cream! The Accord has become an couch on wheels! . I would get the Civic and the loaded model either!!!!
Which is the new one?
The Civic looks a ton better. I'm disappointed the Accord is so boring looking. Hopefully Honda self-corrects before a mid-cycle refresh.
I am a manual sport car person but this top trim cvt Civic is a very good daily that offers some premium features. However if I want a sedan daily I may just go for the sedan Mazda 3
Love this video. I have been debating on which to choose and this made it alot easier.
Civic has an international look. Accord seems more targeted for US market. I'd go for Civic, but Accord has a bit better features.
I'd go for the Accord as a like the design a bit more, and the extra room certainly helps. Not to mention the Accord has the brand image.
Accord rear ended is based on the CRX from the 90’s they definitely didn’t forget about it
The one feature on the accord I couldn't stand was the door handles. My hand recoiled when I first grabbed them. They feel like painted square 2x2s
