Microdosing psychedelic shrooms cured a lot of my addiction and generally made life and my own view of myself a lot more vibrant and healthy. I did it for 2-3 months then took a break, definitely would recommend it to someone who wants to enhance their mental understanding and flow state!
Anna Lembke's presentation is carefully scientific and enlightening. We need more research and science around endocrine responses to products. What are the best treatment options? Robert Saposky is a good source for this domain as well. The sociological and economic aspects are equally complex and, if not addressed, will continue to increase people's exposure to harmful addictions. I wish we had a socioeconomic system focused more on health than money. Profits-first science is also impeding our understanding of complex health issues. Trauma, genetics, socioeconomic issues, culture-It's all interconnected. There's no panacea for addiction. ;-)
we are living in an economy (in the Modern West) that thrives on people being addicted and upset. So maybe regulating the industries that profit off of people's psychological distress (junk food, gambling, social media, etc.) could help?
I recommend watching the picture (Rick Ross) there is no U.S citizen that owns boats to transport drugs we don't have Poppy fields. Who really is to blame 😢
A young generation needs to map this higherachy. Its millions of task like this that really needs to be granted as a task. This highlights the many loses of categorization of unnecessary and necessary evils in that 1900s structuralism just eliminates in the triality of self epistemology. Obviously we chose an ancient chaldean model under naturalism that subjagates or absolved the human dashboard all together. Classical American minds focused on this human dashboard of ben Franklin systems with emphasis as higher ed served 1st and foremost but so did governments. Obviously 1900s war time powers gets the temporary waiver runs wild with top down dualism .
It’s just speculation, meanwhile the people over at MAPS are in late stage trials with MDMA for PTSD…. how can we ever move forward and let the science speak for these molecules if all these “professionals” can do is speculate
The research around psychedelics indicated that they are not addictive. Of course people want to repeat a pleasure experience. Psychedelics work more on serotonin than on dopamine
She is very clear here - as it supports her central argument - however "We are seeing..." is not the same as citing scientific studies. My (limited and non qualified) understanding is that (as you suggest) quite the opposite is true of psychedelics, and that there has been increased research in recent years as to the benefits of psychedelics (particularly pscilocybin) in treating addiction. @@DrugClassTV
none.. but of course, when you start actually tacking usage, it looks different than when you previously were behaving as if that simply doesn't even exist/take place.. the talk has been underwhelming to say the least, and it relates more to the U.S. and far-west societies than other parts of the world, in the context the thesis was construed. it seems to be taking a reductionist approach, at least at face value..
it is always a mix of genetics and environment and the environment is being engineered to stimulate or turn on the genetics that can cause us a raft of issues - the business model is literally feeding on distress and psychiatry and the business model has been another disaster for human wellbeing.
I have a high respect for the psychologist expert presented in this interview overall but,, Q : What really brought down the level of alcohol consumption in today's youth? A : Teens these days are more addicted to social media, game etc.. This is not quite an answer to the question..
I was hoping this would be more about subtle dopamine related issues. They touched on it a little with the technology side of things, but the focus on drugs was disappointing. Not that drugs are unimportant to discuss, but I think that particular topic has been talked to death.
Seems to me that a professional boxer after having a near death experience would not be feeling much motivation the day after to be attending an evening recreational therapy party in a mental health ward which they were sent to stay in after that. Try and explain that t to some doctors who think that no errors could be done by medical teams in emergency wards while they are adding to someone's medical history files and then well good luck with that. Good luck with that after experiencing more than one or more costume malfunction like other children do too (While wolves in sheep's clothing exist) while growing up happens when your family has a reputation for having vulnerablity to addiction when being Indigenous like Metis while only trying to please their parents under the growing numbers of security cameras too now everywhere. It does not take rocket science to figure out why female children at around age 14-16 often experience depression for awhile when trying to navigate around all of the wolf whistles and propositioning coming from others. Same as a girl by the name of Anne Frank had to cope with too while being coerced into wearing a star of David patch on all of her coats. More and more so as time went on.
"Only 10% of people who drink alcohol go on to be ad-ted". ONLY? 10% is huge! "Levels of drug consumption are going down" in youth,. That's unequivocal". You would really need to give some citations for that and say basic things like where you are talking about and when. How are you measuring recreational drug use? How would you know regular consuption rates? The UK Office Of National Statistics so not cite any such changes. Sounds like Simon Wessely is talking nonsense.
I think Anna if she hasnt already needs to modernize her views on the inevitable rollout of AI across work, social, psychiatrist, and pair bonding relationships. If she doesnt do this her work is going to be extremely outdated very soon
What a terrible way to start an interview - truly British arrogance hidden behind the smiles: mispronounce the name and ask 'where are you from'? Couldn't he have learned that beforehand?
ADHD and psychedelics can be dangerous together. what out! also, stay off stimulants if you think or already know you have ADHD. 🫀 also, thank you for talking about this together and out here in the open. you have my undivided attention.
I can do deep dives into Lacan or Zizec or Astrophisics. But my clothes lie in a pile. I have 12 days worth of dirty dishes and pans. I have important paperwork spread over 5 rooms and I regularely miss appointments because I thought I put it in my schedule but I actaully did not or put it in the wrong time. Everything is a mess and I feel my life is spinning out of control. It made me desperate and depressed. This is my life for the first 45 years. Without medication. No theraphy or dietchange helped. Had over half a dozen therapists. They could not figure it out. I wanted to be figured out. Then I got my ADHD diagnosis. And I got aderral (there is no medication for dyslexia maybe its spelled different). And some things became managable. Most things became easy even. So hard pass on not taking stimulants thank you.

Isn't capitalism what's really driving it all? The object of our desire is the barrier to our flourishing.
Yes, for example, they are really flourishing in Venezuela, you should go check it out.
