I feel like Anna Lembke is one of the few people on Earth who's actually honest about marijuana addiction. She helped me overcome my battle from withdrawals when I quit and inspired me to stay sober. She's one of few people living today that I actually admire. Much love & respect for her. 💜

She is not the only one, but it was the only one with the capacity to help me in that exact same problem, I guess she is a rare mix of talent and knowledge.

What I do in my "free time" is commute to work and back (2 hours), go good shopping, cook, clean up. That takes many many hours every day. So 7 hours shrinks to 5 shrinks to 3. That'smno that much. (And then there is care-taking responsibilities, having a job that has you work on weekends at
home, and on it goes.) It's not so much about daily hours of "free" time but how the system is structured to help (or not) us enjoy SOME of that time.

Anna Lembke’s talk on finding balance in the age of indulgence is so insightful and thought-provoking. Her book ‘Dopamine Nation’ is a must-read for anyone looking to understand the science behind pleasure and addiction. 📚

Most useful book I've read in past few years, probably changed my life. Quite difficult to fully grasp though. Also important I think she mentions only once in the book overconsumption is raping the planet, we can save the planet along with ourselves by consuming less pleasure.

Again, it is important to clarify that Serotonin (happiness) is different from dopamine (pleasure)
People need to know the difference between Serotonin and Dopamine
    Serotonin produces LASTING HAPPINESS
Dopamine produces temporary pleasure that if over indulged in actually leads to a deficit of dopamine (because we fry our own receptors that produce it by over stimulation) which flings us into depression and leads to dependency (of substances, erotic content, social media etc etc)
    I learned this recently myself
Please spread this knowledge around to as many as will listen!
    Research it!!
This is of vital importance for society to begin to recognize!!

There is a difference between Serotonin-which produces LASTING HAPPINESS
and Dopamine-which produces temporary pleasure that if overdone leads to depression and dependency. I learned that recently. Please research it! I hope the host of this talk reads the comments but probably not.

nasty women at work that were repulsive to look at and hear all day, yet had all kinds of advice for me and mine, have kept me motivated not to be like them for 40-50 years now, and still. Self appointed authorities once married with children and no education.
