What Oliver said. It doesn't seem to be anywhere on the internet, not even available to us alumni unless you purchase one of the official audition packets from the Bluecoats website.
It's hard to find good, thorough reviews on products like these. So thank you, you did a great job. I also wanted to let you know about a company called Drumslinger Percussion. They make marching snare pads with real heads that supposedly feel even more like a real drum. I would love to see a review on one of those pads if you ever happen to buy one.
Thanks Owen. I appreciate the kind words. I was also frustrated by the lack of thorough reviews on these pads before I got them so figured I would try and do one. I had seen the Drumslinger pads and was considering one. Maybe I can get one to review.
I ordered tenor pads in early September and after reading a bunch of comments saying “I ordered mine in May and still didn’t get it” I got worried, but I guess I got lucky because it came in a week ago
I ordered my pad feb 3 2018 and got it in September and also the tension rods are fully functional but they’re only to hold the rim on if you take the rim off you will see it’s just a piece of plastic glued to gun rubber glued to the wooden base. The tension rods don’t actually change anything all they do is hold the rim down.
You know, honestly, since I have aged out a long time ago it has been a long time since I have played on an actual real drum but I think it's pretty close.

Just received my 2nd Xymox Reserve Snare Drum Pad on April 17, 2019; it was ordered on October 7, 2018. It is aesthetically pleasing to look at but that doesn't balance out the frustration in buying the pad. To say the lead-time for a Xymox Reserve Snare Pad is "long" is an understatement. New homes are built in less time. The latest Xymox is somewhat shoddy in quality, i.e. the rim, though solid, has what appears to be a "seam" where the plastic came together in the injection mold and/or the coloring in the plastic didn't blend properly. Compared to my original Xymox snare sound pad that is probably one of the first it produced, the two Reserve Custom Snare Pads lack the "snare sound" of the original. The original one that has a fabric covered gum rubber practice surface with the same patented snare sound system. Xymox should apply to Marcus Lemonis, "The Profit," for help. Xymox is now facing intense competition from other manufacturers that offer marching percussion practice pads with carbon fiber surfaces that are delivered within days. Even Ahead, which uses Xymox's patented snare sound system, can be purchased from Amazon and delivered within days . . . . not half a year.
Yea, I agree. Their product is generally great, but their business model is apparently pathetic. I don't know how they can run a company like this. I wonder how long it will be sustainable for.
Not surprising. I still don't have my correct rim even though they said they received them over a month ago. How long does it take to put something in the mail??

For people who want the snare sound and don’t want to wait months, get teh ahead s hoop snare pad. It had a metal rim and had the snare sound licensed by xymox, and is around the same price as the offworld invader pad.

tough one. None of them are just like a drum. I like the Rudimental Drummer ones, although there is an issue with the plies on the head separating. I also like the Offworld. Rampad had the most rebound of the ones I have, but it has other issues.
@@SnareMan I’ve been thinking of getting the rampad.. would you say that the rampad is the closest to the rebound of the snare?
@@lmaolmao784 it has the most rebound. But, its small and the rim eventually gets to be below the head when you tighten it. It's a good pad though.
@@SnareMan and what about the xymox reserve drum pad.. I’m thinking of buying a used one how well does that pad resemble the feel of a snare
@@lmaolmao784 its good, but different than a drum. They will all give you pad hands
Does anyone else have a big gap in between the rim and laminate
Mine has almost zero
@@SnareMan mine has a huge gap
My timeline: Ordered September 23, 2018, received January 17, 2019 with incorrect rim. Still a great snare pad, though.
Question for you (and others if you can answer): Are the rims durable for shots?
Yes. Mine hasn't shown any wear at all.
@@SnareMan Thanks for the quick reply!
@@trieutan5931 No problem. I try and provide "good customer service" on my vids. -)
I ordered mine about a week after your order...I hope I get mine soon....I’ve been waiting for ages.
The order has been complete for a while now...well since December....they just haven’t shipped it yet.
are these better than the costum design pads?
I'm not familiar with those pads so I can't say
I just got an advertisement that’s the entire LEGO movie
cool vid and nice moves!
Thanks Frips!
Loved this video !
Thanks!!
I ordered mine September 22 and mine is not gonna be here till March 17
Allegedly
What sticks are those??
They are the Jim Casella sticks. I put a link in the description
I love this vid a lot😂😂
Thanks Rylan!
I ordered mine in September and got it in may😖😖
I guess maybe you should just be happy that you actually got it. :-)
I've been happy with it!!
I'm also like you because I have a xymox and an offworld pad with the laminate.
@@jacobtorres4540 which one do you like better
I can't go full detail on that...
But I will say I've been using the offworld more just because it's more quiet and articulate than the xymox
@@jacobtorres4540 I agree, the offworld is better if you need something quieter
Did you ever get the correct rim?
Still nope
@@SnareMan oof
@@xanderpeery9536 yup
Dude I need this
Well in about a year you can have one
SnareMan True LOL
I'm in 8th grade and I play trumpet, I really want to play snare drum for the marching band though
You should switch! :-)
@@SnareMan I think I'm going to continue trumpet my freshman year, then try snare my sophomore year .
@@davidtorres2400 Better get a pad and start practicing!
@@SnareMan ya good idea!
Tutorial pls
Thanks, but I don't think I'm that good these days
did you ever get your rim😂
Yes. Check out my other xymox video. Although I'm now 7 months into waiting on my hybrid pad.
@@SnareMan do you know any cheap pads that have rims?
@@prod.malachiii I don't. sorry
I have a xymox pad and it was made wrong and shipped to me 4 months after ordering
What did they do wrong with it?
The rim and base were the wrong color.
Nice review.
Thanks Red!
De sonido esta bien suena con mucha claridad, lo malo es el tacto ,esa superficie esta quieta pero el parche de una bateria se mueve arriba y abajo, mas o menos dependiendo de la afinacion.
Is Xymox still in business? I've moved on. My pad is fine but would like to know that
I could at least purchase another head if needed. Oh well. Would sell this pad if
someone would like it. Shameless plug. Carry on Snare Man.
Apparently they moved up to WA. Still seem to be in theoretical business.
I ordered mine December 8th still waiting lol
Psshhhhh. You're still early on in your waiting time. ;-)
I believe you sticks are not pitched in this video. That is one of the reasons that your strokes are not even. Listen to slow singles.
I think it might be a little of that and that the diddle heights on my right hand are lower than the left. Although ordering them online (I forget if it was Steve Weiss or LoneStar) you get what you get to some degree. I talked to them and requested a heavy high pitched pair. They got that part correct at least
@@SnareMan
Ok

How to spell Xymox: S C A M.
Nice!
I'm a set drummer and marching drummer, I have a drum set pad that I got from my very first drum instructor like 8 years ago, since then I've started marching drumming so I bought the RamPad, didn't get Xymox because I've heard TERRIBLE things about shipping and customer service 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I wish I was in that drum academy 😂☺☺💂💂👍
I ordered July 3 lol still not here but I got mine for $48 + taxes + shipping. $63 ish
Wow, that's cheap. And slow
SnareMan Update:
ORDERED: July 3
Ships (OUT): January 7
SMH, They said “Your order should ship after September 12”, with my stupid self hyped up all September long. Might as well have told me it’s shipping after World War Two. That and the stupid California tax piss me off.
@@hectorsaucedo4465 Yea, my correct rim (I suppose at least I have a pad with a rim to start with) that was supposed to be in October, then Nov, then Dec now won't be here til at least January, theoretically. I am happy though that they at least shipped me a pad even though it doesn't have the correct rim
@@hectorsaucedo4465 I'm supposed to get my correct rim in January as well. That will be the 4th or so date promised
SnareMan Has it arrived? Because they promised that it would SHIP OUT Jan. 7, but I didn’t get any notification about it and now it’s January 10. If it shipped out Jan. 7 it would have been here already considering I live in California.
Love the sound of this pad but unfortunately they want $314 for shipping 😳 like wtf are they joking..? Obviously they have no intention of selling their product world wide.. im located in Australia and I have never seen such a crazy shipping price 🤯🤦🏻♀️
Flips us off😂 0:44
But upside down, the polite way. :-)
SnareMan yes of course😂 btw do you have an idea of what the average time it takes for the drum pad to arrive?
@@not_carson8642 I have no idea on specifics, but I'm assuming "really long". Mine took 8 months to get all of the correct parts. See my other Xymox video
SnareMan ok thank you
I don't know. You can get a cheap snare on Amazon for 40 to 80 dollars and if the sound is an issue you can quiet it down with an $8 sound mute pad. Obviously it's not going to be the greatest sounding instrument in the world, but it will probably sound better than this practice pad and it's a real instrument. They even have snare and stand combos for $80.
Interesting idea.
JLocke573 very cool, but you can’t get a marching snare which is kinda what this is about
My xymox took about a year to come. Horrible customer service, it took them a month to respond
That's crazy!
