    Thanks for demoing this for us solo acoustic folks! Why do most pedalmakers routinely neglect our few extra needs on the software side, thus missing out on an additional sales channel? They all seem so obsessed with electric players (and often neglect the vocalists, as well). At any rate, if this unit had a decent intelligent vocal harmonizer (based on the guitar‘s chords) plus more flexible EQ options and didn‘t add too much latency, I‘d definitely give it a try. The form factor is, as you point out, really great. But for the price, I‘d want it to be fully featured for us acoustic solo people right from the start. Don‘t feel like waiting around a year or two for a „maybe firmware update“ addressing what the unit is lacking for our specific needs. Come on, pedalmakers: Just toss in the extra goodies we need, and then promote that (!) on YT videos showing acoustic players/singers, and not just electric guitar-only folks. Can‘t be that hard, can it? ;-)

    Aaron I am glad to see someone thinking about acoustic guitar. Too often in the modeling world it takes a back seat to all the electric modeling. Since I play a lot of both electric and acoustic, I spent hundreds of hours trying to perfect my acoustic tone. I use an HX Stomp with just a couple other pedals. Most recently the Strymon Cloudburst which has proved to be a great pedal for amibient fill. But I came up with a very good signal chain on the Stomp without an amp or IR using the mic preamp model, two EQ's, a ten band and a parametric. And of course delay, chorus, and reverb. Its worked out very well for me using a Taylor 810CE which has a just a piezo pickup system. Like you, most of my was spent trying to get rid of bad frequencies created by the piezo. But it does work.

    I came up with a pretty decent preset for both acoustic and vocal mic. But decided currently to use my Boss Acoustic Songwriter VE-8 and put it in the chain after the TMP. I just use an empty patch and bypass or add a couple pedal options on the TMP. Works great and can’t hear any problems. This way I can switch from Electric to acoustic with ease in a set.
    The VE-8 also gives me an additional looper, solid harmonies and more.
    Looking forward to more acoustic options and vocal harmonies aligned with guitar key would be nice in the future.
    Appreciate the content was looking for some vids like this.

    Need a video of vocal chain examples. This really needs a good vocal harmony pedal.

      Yeah I wish someone could do harmonies as well as TC Helicon did.

      I don’t feel like using it while it has that hiss there. I need to try another one at some point to see if the one I have is defective.

    This is exactly the content that I want to see on new gear releases Aaron. Great illustration of each pedal and the acoustic amp. I am 100% with you on IR’s for acoustic guitar. I don’t think they’re there yet. I see so many people on UA-cam pushing them to make sound improvements when in fact they make it worse. Very much enjoyed watching. Have you tried the Boss Gigcaster mixer yet? It looks like an impressive piece of gear for gigging or just about any kind of recording, livestream work.

    Very interesting how bad the IR sounded! Thanks for doing an acoustic-centric TMP vid.

      Acoustic IR’s are not there yet and also this IR wasn’t made for this guitar. You must make an IR for your guitar and pickup system for the best results.

    This is very helpful information regarding using modelers with acoustic guitars. I would like to see more similar content like this. For example, NUX Trident with a M80 magnetic pickup. Thank you again!

    Hi Aaron, have you tried setting up parallel paths for guitar and vocals setting up different outputs to mix out?
    Also, what existing effects do you consider useful to a vocal chain IE maybe a doubling effect. Also I think I saw somewhere that switching off aux in’s in control centre helped with hiss🤷🏻
    Cheers

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Рік тому

      I haven’t tired two paths but it is easy to do. The hiss is a bug that they are aware of. The hiss in the FR-12 is a different issue.

    Where did you find the Acoustasonic amp model in the TM Pro? I have the latest firmware update and don’t see it listed

    Great vid! Exactly what I was looking for, and you’re coming to the same conclusions I’ve had from watching the other reviews: it’s actually pretty good, but how much will it get updated? Apparently, the video from Alamo Music said that Fender does intend to add more for bass and acoustic in the next major firmware update, but who knows when that will be.

    You brought it up, and now I’m curious, what does it sound like when you use Helix blend Mic input and acoustic pickup input, what mic would you use?
    I hadn’t thought of it cause I only have an HX Stomp, but that would be enough reason to get full helix

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Рік тому

      Sounds great! You could use a small condenser mic as the Helix can provide phantom power. It would be great for recording/live streaming. Something like a Neumann KM184.

    I’m also looking at putting together my first portable singer /acoustic rig
    The headrush core looks like a good all in one solution too
    Could you share What do you currently use and what would recommend at this point ?

      I just form self constantly searching and trying acoustic IR’s and there is always some issue. I still believe it’s the future but I’m going to wait for someone to get it right.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Рік тому

      @@gibson2623 No an IR is an impulse response. That can be a mic in front of an acoustic, mic’ed cab or a reverb in a room. You place it where the original source would be. For an acoustic that would be first because when you mic an acoustic you have the acoustic and then the mic.
