    Ping glide 3 are fantastic changed my short game for sure
    Never played a better wedge and I'm not a ping fan tbh. Went for these as shaft weight and style suited me as lighter shaft matched my wilson staff c300 forged irons which are kbs tour 105 shafts.

    It took me a couple of months to get used to my TaylorMade Hi-Toe 58 and 54 wedges. The spin was always there and consistent, they're great out of the sand and they're the straightest wedges I've ever hit. They've definitely improved my recovery numbers. My only gripe is the ports or holes on the cavity back grab the rough on my takeaway. Very, very annoying.

    Great review, the glide 3.0 in TXG’s wet wedge test is far superior to any wedge. For this reason The Glide 3.0 Will be heavily favored for me. I haven’t bought them yet but I’ll be getting a custom fit in the summertime, almost 💯 certain that the glide 3.0’s will be in my bag

    u guys r my fav reviews, love the ratings and handicap range, that really helps. 2 quick questions: 1. Im a 6 BUT only play 2 x month and need help, playing 919HM but there r just so so, sole may be too wide here in AZ w hard lies, bounce? What would u say i should try that r 1 level less in foregiveness yet med top and sole? Based on your videos Im guessing Apex, 790, M5, i210? 2. I play graphite irons, do I "need" graphite wedges or is light weight steel ok? THX!!

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback Dave, very much appreciated. All of the models you mention would be on shortlist, even though the sole widths aren't hugely different to the JPX919 Hot Metal. Just a thought but have you considered the Hot Metal Pro too?
      Using graphite doesn't mean you MUST play graphite wedges, getting the flow right from irons to wedges is much more important, as obviously you get heavier and lighter graphite nowadays.
      Does that help? It's hard making recommendations without watching you hit balls and seeing your data.

    I love your reviews on youtube as well as your articles. Maybe this is the wrong review to ask my question, but maybe you could answer is. I am a 10 HCPr currently playing the Mizuno JPX 919 forged! I would like to change clubs and I am not quite sure which irons to choose! From your fitting/testing experience, are there any irons that you could recommend?

    Just tested a Taylormade Hi Toe Big Foot 60 degree on course and wow. I have never had a wedge that stopped so quickly from 10-80 yards from all types of lies, made getting out of bunkers easy and after 20 minutes practice found it so natural to dial in distance control. I have no idea what the spin rate was but mostly everything was stopping within a yard. I think wedge testing off a mat is very flawed and only on course testing will show how a wedge will perform for you. It also has a great grip. Sure, it looks a bit weird at first but once you see the results it doesn't matter. Can't recommend it highly enough and hope they release more loft options.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment and feedback John. Completely agree that Big Foot is a great option for sand play. Equipment Ed Simon Daddow found it span really nicely too.
      Take away from the video for us was when the sole shape and grind suits you perfectly you really can spin shots with it. If not the sole gets in the way of the perfect contact and limits spin.

    • @johnkane4457
      @johnkane4457 4 роки тому +1

      @@todaysgolfer Interesting point about the sole. I have a shallow swing and normally only have a very small divot, if any, so perhaps that is the key to my success with the Big Foot.

    I would really like to see a head-to-head comparison on the Cleveland RTX4/588/CBX2 and a separate head-to-head on the Callaway MD5/PM Grind2. I would like to figure out the best set of wedges to compliment my Callaway Steelhead XR's 4-PW without breaking the bank. I am leaning towards the Clevelands especially the 588 to save some money but the MD5 has such great reviews.....Is it hype or are the newer clubs that much better.... help!!!!

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. Are you looking at new 588's? Or are they used? Think very seriously about used wedges, as grooves wear over time, which affects spin.

      A little, I have the cbx 2 in 46,56,60, and cbx in 50, so cbx had same sole grind on all wedges, a v shape bottom, cbx2 has v grind on 46 thru 52 which more likley to hit full shots, 54 thru 56 has s grind and 58 thru 60 has c grind, the cbx2 grooves due feel a little more rough for lack of a better word, but I dont notice a differance, and cbx2 has the rubber insole on the back to absorb shock but I cant tell a differance, far as I can tell they are the same except for the grinds I mentioned, but I due like them alot,
      hope this helps.

    Great Review, why are wedges which heavier shafts.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback Mark, much appreciated. It's just been accepted as a common practice for years, it's only really since Cleveland brought out the CBX cavity wedges with lighter shafts (more matched to your irons) that people have questioned the decision.
      Interestingly a TaylorMade contact reckons a lot of tour pro's are now going for wedge shafts a flex weaker than their irons, as they virtually never hit flat out wedges. The slightly softer flex gives a similar feel to the stiffer irons.

      In what sense Chris? Full face grooves don't improve the MOI (forgiveness vertically up and horizontally across the face).

    Disappointing review.
    A lot of talk about the spin rate (which did not even consider consistent lofts of the wedges).
    The big foot high toe's main feature is the extra wide sole - i believe this is what TM designed it for (anti dig, easier to hit). The review gave so much detail on spin rate - but unless you are an elite golfer (or just overly technical) - i doubt you will even notice a wedge that spins 6,500rpm vs 7,800rpm.
    Perhaps the review could have been improved by including forgiveness off off center hits or less than perfect contact. Turf interaction. etc.
