Story 1: Okay, we need more people in the world out there like this OP. First of all, im very sorry to hear about the OP's husband, especially at that young of an age. My oldest cousin had a bad stroke in his late 40s a few years ago and it was very hard on him.... he's doing much better now. As for the Karen, this is a classic case of "F around and find out" and thats exactly what happened. I'm sure the OP was being generous calling her a 'geriatric old cow bag', but it was certainly well deserved and i wouldn't have felt bad about it at all. People like that deserve worse insults. Too bad the Karen didnt get kicked out and banned from that shop, as it sounds she is an old cow bag to the staff too. Hopefully the OPs husband has recovered.
Story 2: The OP's mother is a complete dullard here and she should've given up POA to the OP and her brother here a long time ago. The moment anyone asks for banking info, bitcoin or pre-paid gift cards, the scam is so obvious and should've cut contact with them immediately. Now, as for the mom, i dont know if its from mental illnesses or sour grapes, but all the subsequent comments were extremely uncalled for. The OP shouldve got the moms number changed regardless... all of this is just crazy and its a big reason why places like banks and stores always have big notices warning people, especially the elderly, about scams like this.
Story 3: Yeah, your "friend" is really not someone i wouldnt want to be around. It sounds like she has ulterior motives here. I get that life can happen, but it sounds like she wants everyone to spend a lot on her, but wont do the same. I wouldn't show up.
Story 4: No way is the OP a jerk.... the fiance is and majorly... and if i were the OP, i would be 100% questioning the relationship at this point. He sounds like a complete loser, both in past and present... but the fact that he would lie and say that the step-sister uninvited the OPs son when it was the fiance, was absolutely pathetic. It doesnt sound like the son is upset at the step-daughter here, so hopefully there is no bad blood between them and maybe they can do something together, but screw the fiance. I know i wouldn't want to be with someone like that.
Story 5: What a moron.... he deserved to get his vehicle all scratched up. Does he not know what the yellow lines on the curb are for? Good thing he lost the court case.... some justice in the world.
Story 2 (the one with the dement mother): Yes, you'd be the jerk.
Get her a diagnosis, get complete control over her accounts, and if you cannot handle her anymore, hire professionals who can.
She is not a jerk and she is not dumb. She is having dementia and it is too dangerous for her to leave her to her devices.

I would have ignored her completely since she's not worth the time and effort to chase her, but I have to admit that what OP told her make me chuckle.
(F* off, UA-cam!) Story 1: Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it. Been seeing more and more of that lately.
Story 2: My friend has to _constantly_ protect and warn his parents against scams. Fortunately his mom is smart enough to listen, but his dad not so much. Typically these are the “You won a free laptop!” emails and he has to warn them to block those emails, don’t even open them. My sympathies to OP and to my friend, or anyone else in this predicament, as an adult having to take care of elderly parents is a nightmare.
Story 3: You reap what you sow. If that person doesn’t think enough of OP to do something for her, then OP is under no obligation to do anything for them either. Friendship is a two way street. Don’t even go to her party.
Story 4: No, why should OP go to her stepdaughter’s birthday if she and her family treat OP’s son in that way? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Call off the engagement.
Story 5: Counter sue this buffoon. He parked illegally, that’s trespassing. Should have had his Failure Of Research Development towed away and impounded.

My grandma is JUST like the second story. She has all these guys she keeps texting and sending money to thinking they love her. Like im sorry but they just want your social security. Why would they ask for apple gift cards if they make so much money for themselves?

Story 2: as someone who works retail I see these scams a lot. I had one guy say he’s been in contact with Scarlett Johansson for the last few years and she loves him. Everyone in my store has told him she’s married to Colin Jost and no offense but Colin Jost is much better looking than him. Also she’s one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses. Why the heck would she need a few hundred dollars here and there if she makes that much every minute? He refuses to believe us.

Story 2. NTA! OP's mother refuses to see the truth about a scam they're involved in. He's done everything he could do to keep them out of it, but if they won't listen its no longer his problem so if he can't handle the stress of dealing with them, I'll have to hire professionals who can.
Story 3. NTA! Why would I attend the party of someone who treats you like dirt? True friends don't treat their friends that way.
Story 4. NTA! The fiance's actions warn of what the OP's son will have to deal with in the future if the OP marries him. The OP should give the fiance back his ring and end the engagement.

Third story: Nobody owes you a gift on your birthday lady, not even a cheap 10 dollar gift. And it's really selfish to keep going on and on about how she didn't get you one. And no, you don't owe her one either. Gift giving should be 100% voluntary, but you're expecting it, and when it doesn't happen you're getting upset for no reason.
