- Soul was released in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Which is ironic because this movie is about the beauty of living yet released in a time when no one was allowed to live at all. A period of life that is still so surreal to even think about.
That pandemic year had a lot of lows but there was a personal high that I did achieve, a glimmer of happiness in a year of sadness and suffering.
I released the most amount of videos ever in that year. A staggering 30 videos were uploaded to my UA-cam channel. And to this day it is still the most I have ever uploaded and that is an achievement that I am very proud of because I put a lot of work into those videos.
In hope that one day this hobby becomes a full time job and even though it is seven years since my first upload, there is still this desire that what I do now, my outlet to be creative will become more than just a passion project.
Every time I upload there is this belief that it could be that video that takes me to the promised land.
It's an obsession. An obsession that I love but one that does drive me crazy at times because I constantly think about UA-cam, I am always thinking about my next video or thinking about a current video I am working on.
It is the spark in my life that gets me out of bed.

Amazing video man, as always. I really hope you can achieve your goal of making this channel your main job some day, your videos are very well edited and written. I always lived with fear because i don't really have a spark, never got a goal that i strived for and to this day i'm still trying to find it. Seeing you talk about your passion for movies really inspires me to keep searching for something that ignites me the same way. Anyways, wish you all the best, and thank you for this video
Hey look, just like soul 22 says - even walking can be a spark - this movie is about how sparks shouldn't define you. So there is no rush in finding one. i just found this account through watching the movie the girl who leapt through time and I thought you were really big but im surprised by how small the channel is despite the videos being top notch and the quality being insane I love the fact that I found this channel I just know that your videos will educate me about life and thank you so much for it

Sure it'd be nice if I could reach way more people but if I only get to inspire just one person then that's enough because that one person is myself and everyone else who comes and enjoys what I make is an added bonus...and when I look it like that, there's been a lot of those bonuses
As a struggling musician and screenwriter for over 20 years and someone who's constantly thinking about making video essays (but not actually doing it), I relate to this very much.
One thing I really appreciate about this movie is that it didn't get resolved by Joe realizing that actually, teaching was his purpose all along and he should just be content with that. Don't get me wrong, teachers are very important and teaching is a noble pursuit, but it's not for everyone and I personally find it irritating when successful artists make art about how actually, not fulfilling your dream and settling is fine. A lesser movie would have done just that (e.g. Yesterday), but Soul went for a more complex and nuanced message.
I thought that was how the movie was going to end when I watched it the first time as well - Joe would realise teaching was his spark - but the way they went instead was much more powerful and so more meaningful....

I'm 29 and just found my spark: knowing that I'm loved by the Universe, just as I am. I've lived my whole life in search of something to fulfill me, my purpose. Through material or emotional gain, relationships and work. Whatever would fill the void.
I've realized that the thing I wanted most was Love and I had to stop living like I wasn't enough as I am. I am enough. I'm the only one who's never given up on me, and I'm so grateful for that. I'm grateful I'm here, I'm alive, I'm safe, I'm free and I get to live. I'm grateful for your video. Love is my spark, and My purpose is freedom from fear, doubt and self-hatred 🙏🏾
